'You will suffocate me': Jamal Khashoggi's last words revealed in transcript of killing from secret recording

A transcript of Jamal Khashoggi's final moments captured on hidden microphones inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul has been published for the first time.

The haunting recordings reveal how a Saudi hit-squad sent to take care of the dissident journalist discussed how his body would be dismembered after his death, referring to him as the 'animal to be sacrificed.'

The men were then recorded telling Khashoggi to write a text message to his son in order to cover their tracks, before drugging him and placing a bag over his head.


'I have asthma. Do not do it, you will suffocate me,' Khashoggi is heard saying in his final words before sounds of a struggle and his body being dismembered are heard.

While details from the tape have been revealed piecemeal in the 11 months since his death, the publication of the transcript by Turkey's Daily Sabah reveals the full picture of how the murder transpired.

The audio was captured by Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation on microphones hidden inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Khashoggi, a former Saudi regime insider turned critic, had gone to the consulate that day in order to sign marriage papers so he could wed his partner, Hatice Cengiz.

Instead he was dragged into a back room where he was killed while she waited for him outside.

Saudi Arabia has admitted Khashoggi's killing was a premeditated act carried out by government agents, but said they were 'rogue elements' who acted without official authorisation.

However, international observers and critics of the regime believe Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de-facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, gave the order himself.

Eleven of the 15-strong hit squad have since been put on trial for murder, including five who are facing the death penalty.

The first part of the recording details a conversation between Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, the deputy commander of the hit squad, and Dr. Salah Muhammed Al-Tubaigy, the head of Forensic Evidence at the Saudi General Security Department who was in charge of dismembering Khashoggi's body.

The tape is time-stamped 1.02pm, just 12 minutes before Khashoggi arrived at the consulate.

'Is it possible to put the body in a bag?' Mutreb can be heard asking.

Al-Tubaigy responds: 'No. Too heavy, very tall too. Actually, I've always worked on cadavers. I know how to cut very well.

'I have never worked on a warm body though, but I'll also manage that easily. I normally put on my earphones and listen to music when I cut cadavers. In the meantime, I sip on my coffee and smoke.

'After I dismember it, you will wrap the parts into plastic bags, put them in suitcases and take them out (of the building).'

Khashoggi: What should I tell my son?

Mutreb: You will write a message, let's rehearse; show it to us.

Khashoggi: What should I say, 'see you soon'?

Unidentified man: Cut it short.

Mutreb: You will write something like 'I'm in Istanbul. Don't worry if you cannot reach me.'

Khashoggi: I shouldn't say kidnapped.

Unidentified man: Take your jacket off.

Khashoggi: How can such a thing take place at a consulate? I'm not writing anything.

Unidentified man: Cut it short.

Khashoggi: I'm not writing anything.

Mutreb: Write it, Mr. Jamal. Hurry up. Help us so we can help you, because in the end we will take you back to Saudi Arabia and if you don't help us you know what will happen eventually.

Khashoggi: There is a towel here. Will you have me drugged?

Al-Tubaigy: We will put you to sleep.

Khashoggi was then drugged, telling his captors 'do not keep my mouth closed' as they placed a plastic bag over his head.

'I have asthma. Do not do it, you will suffocate me,' Khashoggi says in his final words.

Sounds of suffocation and struggling are then heard, with brief pieces of discussion between the hit-squad who question whether he is still moving.

At one point someone says to 'keep pushing'.

At 1.39pm the sound of an autopsy saw is heard as the team begins dismembering Khashoggi's body. The procedure continues for 30 minutes.

It is thought the pieces of Khashoggi's body were then packed into suitcases and carried out of the embassy. His remains have never been found.

It's Over! Sarah Palin's Husband Todd Files For Divorce After 31 Years Of Marriage

It’s over! Sarah Palin and her husband Todd are calling it quits after 31 years of marriage, an Anchorage Superior Court clerk confirmed to RadarOnline.com.

Todd, 55, was the one to file for divorce from the former Governor on Friday, September 6.

In the shocking filing, Todd cited an “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife,” Anchorage Daily News first reported.
They also ask for joint legal custody of their only minor child together, Trig.

An attorney for Todd asked the court that the divorce remain confidential as it moves forward, according to the docs. Sarah, also 55, was elected governor of Alaska in 2006 but resigned in 2009.

Edo APC crisis: I’ll not join issues with Oshiomhole – Obaseki

Barely one month after Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and his successor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole announced ceasefire, it appears that all is still not well between the godfather and his political son.

The indication emerged weekend, when Oshiomhole, in his recent interview, said that he only nominated one commissioner in Obaseki’s Government, whom he said had been sacked by the Governor.

The National Chairman of the APC also said that it was disturbing to him that Obaseki has abandoned some of his ongoing projects.


Obaseki has, however, vowed that he would not join issues with his successor.

Rather, he urged actors within his government not to utter a word over comments​ credited to Oshiomhole.

He said he has chosen to pursue the path of peace and reconciliation in dealing with the rift between him and his successor, in the interest of APC and the State.

The Governor made this known Monday evening, in a statement jointly signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohunbamu, and his Special Adviser on Media Strategy, Crusoe Osagie.

Task Force operatives arrest 11 MC Oluomo’s boys

Operatives of the Lagos State Task Force have arrested 11 members of the MC Oluomo’s led National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW for causing mayhem in Ogba area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Task Force Chairman, Olayinka Egbeyemi, who confirmed the arrest on Monday said the union members were arrested at the weekend by the Enforcement team of the agency for causing mayhem around Yaya-Abatan Garage in Ogba.

Egbeyemi revealed that dangerous weapons such as axes, diggers, broken bottles and cutlasses were recovered from those arrested in connection with the mayhem.


He said that all arrested suspects have been immediately charged to court.

The Task Force boss warned members of the NURTW to conduct their activities in a peaceful manner and not to disrupt the peace of innocent members of the public.

He vowed that anyone caught fomenting trouble would be severely dealt with in accordance with the law.

“In the same vein, citizens are enjoined to remain law abiding, peaceful and report any suspicions likely to inhibit public safety to appropriate authorities. On its part, the Service will remain committed in its pursuit of national stability in line with its statutory mandate of protecting the country against crimes and threats to its internal security,” the statement said.

6 Kidnapped in fresh strike on Kaduna-Abuja highway

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of six persons, by gunmen in military uniform, in Rijana village along Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Sep. 7.

The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo said two of the victims were abandoned by the bandits.

According to him, the kidnappers intercepted a commercial bus registered ABJ 905 XC around 11:30pm at a point near Rijana and took away the passengers.

“Patrol teams within the axis were quickly mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums as a result of which one Rofiat Tijjani, aged 17, and one other person, both of Tudunwada Kaduna, were released by the criminals in their desperate attempt to escape.


“Both victims were taken to the Rijana police station alongside the vehicle.

“Efforts are still on to rescue the remaining four victims and arrest the criminals,” Sabo said.

The feud in the Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, is over as the former Chairman of the union, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede endorsed Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo as chairman of the union.

MC Oluomo and 17 others were last Wednesday appointed Caretaker Committee members to run the council union.

The National Deputy Secretary-General, Kayode Agbeyangi led the national and zonal leaders to swear-in the new state helmsmen at the union state headquarters at Oko-Oba, Agege.

Agbede’s presence at the swear-in of the new executive council surprised all as he endorsed MC Oluomo as the Chairman of the union.

NURTW activities remain banned in Oyo state after fresh invasion at motor parks

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said the ban on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is still in force.

He spoke yesterday against the backdrop of invasion of the state secretariat of the union by yet-to-identified members of the NURTW.

Sources said factional members loyal to a former state Chairman, Mr. Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called ‘Auxiliary’, had invaded the secretariat to sack the union officials.

The sources added that the invaders, who came in about 50 vehicles, caused commotion in the area, as people ran.


Reacting to a question about the invasion of the secretariat and the possibility of forceful takeover of motor parks by the ‘Auxiliary’ faction, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, said: “The union activities remain banned and will remain so until further notices.”

Adisa, who addressed reporters at the Iyaganku, Ibadan secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said: “Yes, we got the information of the invasion of NURTW office by a faction.

“The police have assured the government that they will protect lives and property.

“The government has banned NURTW activities and the ban remains in force. They should not take the government for granted.

“The police are on ground and whoever breaches the law will face the wrath of the law,” he added.

Governor Makinde in June proscribed the activities of the NURTW following leadership tussle, which left many people injured and property destroyed.

Two women squeeze onto small mobility scooter and casually cruise into town (video)

Two women managed to squeeze onto a single small mobility scooter and cruise into town.

Video footage/photos show a woman on the seat and driving the vehicle, while a second passenger wearing a pink tracksuit sits on the base with her feet sticking out of the front to save room.

The scooter seemed to speed along normally despite the extra weight.

It's thought the pair were trying to avoid walking into town and they seemed undeterred by the unusual seating arrangement.

Andrew Hunter spotted the strange sight as he made his way between jobs and filmed the nonplussed pair relaxing on the scooter as they cruised along the pavement last month.

The 27-year-old shared the video online where it was liked, shared and commented on more than 3,750 times, racking up almost 200,000 views.

Andrew, who is a scaffolder, found the sight hilarious but claims most people who have watched the video are shocked.

Andrew, from Darlington, County Durham, said: "I did a double-take because I couldn't really believe what I was seeing.

"I thought it was so unusual and really funny.

"I don't know the two people in this video. I was on my way between jobs and was sat in my work van when I looked over and saw the two women.

"One was sat on the seat and the other had her legs around the handle stand with her feet sticking out in front of the scooter.

"I think the two women were off to the town centre, I presume to do a bit of shopping.

"Most people who have seen the video were quite shocked that they could both fit on, but also thought the sight of two women squeezed onto one small scooter was funny."

Many commenting suggested the duo were being 'lazy' and were shocked they could fit on one scooter.

Man who deceived his friend to steal his tricycle nabbed four months after (photos)

The Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, a unit of the Lagos Police Command have arrested a tricycle rider otherwise known as ‘Keke Maruwa’ after stealing the tricycle from a friend four months ago.

The suspect, Tosin Abolaji, 25, was arrested by the police in Ikeja for 4 months after deceiving his friend to lend him the keke to carry out a quick work as he was hungry and needed to eat.
Emmanuel, the Keke owner had in April, 2019 borrowed Tosin his tricycle not knowing that would be the last time he would see him and the Keke before luck ran out of him 4 months after.

Narrating his ordeal after the ‘Keke’ was recovered by police, he said;

“I was arrested by the bank after I could not meet up with the return payment plan agreement I had with the bank. I begged the bank to please allow me to talk to my colleagues who can assist me in getting a Keke which I can be riding to pay back the debt while I continue to search every nooks and cranny”, Emmanuel said.

“I have searched almost the whole of Lagos tricycle garages for my ‘Keke’, begged all other friends in the neighbourhood maybe they can help me with Tosin’s whereabout but I was told he had cut contact with everybody in the area after the incident.

It was during the search that I learnt Tosin was a thief as colleagues who knew him well also shared their experiences about him, collecting colleagues’ ‘Keke’ and absconding with it for days without the knowledge of the owners”.

He added, “after four months of rigorous search for my ‘Keke’, a good Samaritan who saw Tosin around Ikeja hinted me. I quickly alerted the police and they arrested him and recovered my tricycle”.

A seventeen years old girl identified as Aisha living in Albarkawa area in Gusau metropolis in Zamfara state on Sunday set her self ablaze owing to her fiance’s inability to marry her due to his poor finances.

Aisha’s neighbour told Daily Trust that she decided to commit suicide after she learnt that her fiance who dated her for quite a long time has no money to pay for dowry in preparation for her wedding.

He said her lover called Umar was asked by her parent to present himself to her family for the marital engagement but the young man told her parent that he was not financially well off to pay for the N17,000 as dowry demanded by the father of the girl.

“She brought a gallon of petrol and a matchbox. She got her self drenched in the petrol and struck a match stick and within a second she got engulfed in flames.”

“Even before setting her self ablaze, her younger sister had tried hard to stop her from taking the dangerous decision by flinging the matchbox from her hand as any time she attempted to strike the matches the younger sister would stop her until when she became tired of stopping and went away.”

“The girl then ran outside the house screaming for help until some good Samaritans arrived and put out the raging flames tormenting her. The girl’s father said he had no money to take her to the hospital as he could only boast of N750 at the time the incident happened,” he said.

However, Daily Trust learnt that Aisha who was severely burnt is being treated with Orthodox and other traditional medicines at home.
