Neymar rape accuser charged with extortion in Brazil

Police in Sao Paulo said Tuesday they will bring extortion and slander charges against a Brazilian model who accused football star Neymar of rape.

Najila Trindade filed a rape complaint with Sao Paulo police upon her return from a trip to Paris in May in which she said she was assaulted by Neymar following a pre-arranged meeting.

A final decision on whether to prosecute Trindade will be left to a judge. Neymar, the world’s most expensive footballer, has always protested his innocence, saying their relations were consensual.

The case complicated an already tumultuous year for the 27-year-old Brazil star, who has yet to play for his club Paris Saint-Germain this season following injury and reports of an aborted return to previous club Barcelona.

Man throws four months old son into Niger River

A 20-year-old man, Mustapha Aliyu has been arrested for throwing his four months old son into river Uti in Borgu local government area of Niger state.

The Corpse of the baby is yet to be found. The Suspect, who was arrested by the Niger state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said he took the step because the mother of the baby refused to accept the baby and left him in his custody.

Mustapha, an indigene of Kebbi state who resides in Tamaniya village near Kainji in Borgu local government of the state was paraded by the NSCDC on Tuesday in Minna.

Confessing to the crime to newsmen in Minna, Mustapha said the baby was his son but he was not married to the mother.


He attributed his reason for throwing his son into the river as due to depression saying it was the work of the devil.

“I couldn’t take care of the baby alone. I was not happy that the mother left him with me. I do not even know what got into me. It is the devil handwork.”

A 24-year-old man, Ebenezer Olorunleke, said on Tuesday that his four-man gang killed his brother, Sunday Olorunleke, in his residence at the Abe Cocoa area of Ado Ekiti and stole his motorcycle on August 29, 2019, for being stingy.

Ebenezer said he and members of the gang invaded his brother’s residence, where they attacked Sunday with a knife and long screwdriver.

The suspect, who spoke at the Ekiti State Police Command headquarters, Ado Ekiti, where he was paraded, said his friends, who killed his brother, wanted to help him collect money from him because of his stinginess.


He stated, “I did not follow them inside the room, but upon realising that my brother had been stabbed and was shouting, I rushed in and wanted to rescue him, but he bit me and chopped off my finger.

“The guys later came to my house to attack me. They wanted to sell the motorcycle but I resisted it. I was thinking of coming to the police to report them when I was arrested with the motorcycle.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Asuquo Amba, said Ebenezer, who hails from Jege in Kogi State, killed his brother with a knife and screwdriver on August 29, 2019, and fled the scene.

“The suspect and three others invaded his brother’s home at the Abe Cocoa area of Okeila and stabbed him to death and stole his red Bajaj motorcycle with number plate ADK 100 UJ,” Amba stated.

The police boss, who noted that law enforcement agents were on the trail of Ebenezer’s accomplices, said items recovered from the suspect were a long screwdriver, knife and the motorcycle.

“The suspect and his accomplices stabbed Sunday in the stomach and pierced his intestine when his wife and children were not at home. Ebenezer has confessed to the crime,” the CP added.

A police source said the attackers drove a long nail into the deceased’s skull while struggling to rob him.

Trump fires national security adviser John Bolton

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday forced out John Bolton, his hawkish national security adviser with whom he had significant disagreements on Iran, Afghanistan and a cascade of other global challenges.

The two men offered opposing accounts on Bolton's less than friendly departure, a leave-taking example of what had been a fractious relationship almost from the start.

"I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration," Trump tweeted.


"I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week," he added.

APC repaid me with evil, Rochas Okorocha says

Immediate past Imo Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has lamented he was badly treated by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party, he alleged, repaid his courage and sacrifices with evil in the south east.

The Imo West Senator challenged the current administration in the state to investigate his eight years in office, saying no government in the state can beat his records of achievement as governor.

Okorocha, whose election was upheld on Monday, expressed sadness that the party he helped nurtured in the south east would pay him back in what he described as evil way by suspending him from the party.

President Buhari loses staff who served him for 30 years

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday mourned the passing of one of his staff member, Buhari Nalado Sandamu.

“I have lost a good and honest caretaker. “I have lost a prudent and a wonderful custodian who did so well taking care of my country home in Daura. May Allah bless his soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss, Ameen,” President Buhari said.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.


He added that the late Sandamu served the President and his family for more than 30 years.

The President has since sent a delegation to the family of the bereaved in Sandamu Local Government Area, Katsina, comprising Senior Special Assistant, Domestic and Household Matters, Sarki Abba, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu and State Chief of Protocol, Amb. South Africa offers Nine black rhinos to Tanzania

Tanzanian authorities received nine black rhinos offered by South African authorities to improve the East African country’s tourism.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Adolf Mkenda, who received the rhinos at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), said the animals, in the list of endangered species, would boost tourism in Tanzania.

Nigerian senators would soon be stoned –ASUU

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, says Nigerians would soon begin to pelt senators with stones for being insensitive to their plights as demonstrated by their plan to acquire exotic cars despite the harsh economic situation in the country.

Ogunyemi stated this on Monday in an interview with journalists at the end of ASUU’s National Executive Council meeting at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Ogunyemi, who accused the lawmakers of making anti-people policies, said it would not be long before the Nigerian masses begin to attack lawmakers.


The professor said, “They move about in armoured cars at a time when those who suffered in the rain and sun to put them in office are languishing in abject poverty.

“They are insensitive to the point that they are telling us they want to buy what they called exotic cars.  It is provocative and by the time Nigerians become fully conscious, they will be stoned.

“A time will come that the rich would not be able to sleep when the poor are hungry, and that is what the Nigerian ruling class is not recognising.”

I’m ashamed of not paying pensioners- Governor Ortom

Pensioners in Benue State have turned down Governor Samuel Ortom’s advice to vacate the entrance to the Government House in Makurdi.

The pensioners last Wednesday moved to the entrance of the Government House, sleeping on mats.

The pensioners vowed to occupy the seat of power until their pensions and gratuities amounting to N25billion are paid.

They said they had not been paid for 25 months. Their leader, Mr. Peter Kyado, said they would remain at the Government House gate until the governor meets their demand.


Governor Ortom, who cut short his trip to Abuja to address the pensioners, said: “I’m ashamed that my government has been unable to meet its financial obligation to the pensioners, who are senior citizens.”

He described the situation the pensioners found themselves as sad, but promised to address their plight.

Kidnapped Ondo university professor found dead

Prof. Gideon Okedayo, a senior lecturer at the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), abducted by gunmen, has been found dead.

Okedayo was kidnapped on Igara road in Akoko Edo area of Edo State while traveling to his hometown on Thursday.

A source at the university reported  that the dead body of the lecturer was found inside a bush.

"It is sad. They have killed Prof. Okedayo. We learnt about his gruesome killing yesterday (Monday) night.

Housewife drags husband to court for not having s.e.x with her in the last 5 years

A housewife, Talatu, on Monday, dragged her husband Nasiru Sulaiman, before a Sharia Court ll, sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking legal divorce saying she has been s-xually starved for five years.

Talatu, 35, who resides in Makera, Kaduna, told the court that Sulaiman denied her s-x for five years.

“We have six children but he has refused to enrol them in school. I enroled them but he pulled them out, saying that I want to change their belief from his school of thoughts.

“For nine months now they have not been to school.


“The house we live in is dilapidated. It is infested by rats, He gives me only N300 to feed his seven children.

“Sometimes I go out to do menial jobs to assist the family but he accuses me prostitution. I can’t continue living with him. I want a divorce,” she said.

The defendant, Sulaiman, denied the allegations made by his wife.

”When I left my wife was pregnant. When I came back, she told me that she had an abortion because she does not want to bear any child,” he said.

Sulaiman admitted that he gives his wife N300 daily because he has all the foodstuffs in the house.

The Judge, Murtala Nasir, ordered both parties to settle their problems amicable.

Nasir adjourned the case until Sept. 23 for report on settlement or continuation of hearing.

Snake with two heads found in US

A rare, two-headed snake, with one shared body has been found by two herpetologists in New Jersey, United States.

Double-Dave, as the snake is now called, by the finders, is a baby rattlesnake, just a few weeks old and about 9 inches (23 centimeters) long, according to a recent segment on ABC News.

Herpetologists Dave Schneider and Dave Burkett, who work with the Herpetological Associates in Pemberton, New Jersey, found the critter a few weeks ago while surveying the nearby Pine Barrens — a heavily forested area stretching across the southern tip of the state.


Bicephalic animals like D-D rarely survive to maturity in the wild; decisions as simple as whether to slither left or right, or which head gets to eat first, suddenly become staggering battles of will, leaving bicephalic animals especially vulnerable to predators, reports livescience.com

Shiites defy police’s order, stage procession

Members of the Shiites Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, have defied police order by embarking on its Ashura mourning procession in Abuja on Tuesday morning.

The Ashura procession is an annual religious ritual carried out by the Shia Islamic sect all over the world on September 10.

Participants including men, women, and children held the procession for a few kilometres from Berger Roundabout to Wuse, and hurriedly concluded the exercise to avoid a confrontation with security personnel.


As early as 8.00am, Shiites members were already on the road for about 25 minutes and caused traffic gridlock in the commercial area, but there was no report of any incident.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu had on Monday said that any procession by the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) amounted to terrorism.

'You will suffocate me': Jamal Khashoggi's last words revealed in transcript of killing from secret recording

A transcript of Jamal Khashoggi's final moments captured on hidden microphones inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul has been published for the first time.

The haunting recordings reveal how a Saudi hit-squad sent to take care of the dissident journalist discussed how his body would be dismembered after his death, referring to him as the 'animal to be sacrificed.'

The men were then recorded telling Khashoggi to write a text message to his son in order to cover their tracks, before drugging him and placing a bag over his head.


'I have asthma. Do not do it, you will suffocate me,' Khashoggi is heard saying in his final words before sounds of a struggle and his body being dismembered are heard.

While details from the tape have been revealed piecemeal in the 11 months since his death, the publication of the transcript by Turkey's Daily Sabah reveals the full picture of how the murder transpired.

The audio was captured by Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation on microphones hidden inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Khashoggi, a former Saudi regime insider turned critic, had gone to the consulate that day in order to sign marriage papers so he could wed his partner, Hatice Cengiz.

Instead he was dragged into a back room where he was killed while she waited for him outside.

Saudi Arabia has admitted Khashoggi's killing was a premeditated act carried out by government agents, but said they were 'rogue elements' who acted without official authorisation.

However, international observers and critics of the regime believe Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de-facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, gave the order himself.

Eleven of the 15-strong hit squad have since been put on trial for murder, including five who are facing the death penalty.

The first part of the recording details a conversation between Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, the deputy commander of the hit squad, and Dr. Salah Muhammed Al-Tubaigy, the head of Forensic Evidence at the Saudi General Security Department who was in charge of dismembering Khashoggi's body.

The tape is time-stamped 1.02pm, just 12 minutes before Khashoggi arrived at the consulate.

'Is it possible to put the body in a bag?' Mutreb can be heard asking.

Al-Tubaigy responds: 'No. Too heavy, very tall too. Actually, I've always worked on cadavers. I know how to cut very well.

'I have never worked on a warm body though, but I'll also manage that easily. I normally put on my earphones and listen to music when I cut cadavers. In the meantime, I sip on my coffee and smoke.

'After I dismember it, you will wrap the parts into plastic bags, put them in suitcases and take them out (of the building).'

Mutreb: You will write a message, let's rehearse; show it to us.

Khashoggi: What should I say, 'see you soon'?

Khashoggi: I shouldn't say kidnapped.

Unidentified man: Take your jacket off.

Khashoggi: How can such a thing take place at a consulate? I'm not writing anything.

Unidentified man: Cut it short.

Khashoggi: I'm not writing anything.

Mutreb: Write it, Mr. Jamal. Hurry up. Help us so we can help you, because in the end we will take you back to Saudi Arabia and if you don't help us you know what will happen eventually.

Khashoggi: There is a towel here. Will you have me drugged?

Al-Tubaigy: We will put you to sleep.

Khashoggi was then drugged, telling his captors 'do not keep my mouth closed' as they placed a plastic bag over his head.

'I have asthma. Do not do it, you will suffocate me,' Khashoggi says in his final words.

Sounds of suffocation and struggling are then heard, with brief pieces of discussion between the hit-squad who question whether he is still moving.

At one point someone says to 'keep pushing'.

At 1.39pm the sound of an autopsy saw is heard as the team begins dismembering Khashoggi's body. The procedure continues for 30 minutes.

It is thought the pieces of Khashoggi's body were then packed into suitcases and carried out of the embassy. His remains have never been found.
