Police arrest family friend who allegedly sedated and r.a.p.e.d 14-year-old girl

Detectives from Bariga Police Station said they have arrested a man who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after he had laced her food with Indian hemp that made the girl become unconscious.

The suspect, Innocent Ifunayachi, 34, allegedly defiled the 14-year-old-girl in her family house.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, on Sunday.

Elkana said, “The suspect, being a friend to the family, visited and found the girl eating noodles.


“While she left to get him some drinks, he quickly poured some quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in her food.

“She lost consciousness after eating the food and he took advantage of that to rape her,” he said.

Elkana said that detectives from the Family Support Unit have arrested the suspect who had also confessed to the crime.

“The victim has been taken to hospital for medical treatment and forensic examination.

“The suspect will be charged to court,” he said.

The Command said it had also arrested one Emmanuel Olatunde (aka “Pastor”), an alleged “notorious cultist.”

According to the Police, the suspect was arrested in connection with some robbery and murder cases within Bariga Local Government Area.

Elkana said that Olatunde, 31, of No. 27, Oremenunu Ibafo Street, Bariga, is “an ex-convict and a member of the Eiye Confraternity responsible for terrorising people of Bariga.”

“He is responsible for the murder of one Ahmed Karowi, an Aiye Confraternity Kingpin on September 11, 2019.

“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect will soon be charged to court,” he said.

Spain wins FIBA world cup again after 13 years

Spain beat Argentina 95-75 to win the Basketball World Cup for the first time since 2006.

Earlier in the day, France took the bronze for the second consecutive year after a 67-57 win over Australia.

The United States won the last two tournaments but were knocked out by France in the quarter-final round earlier in the week. Argentina then beat France in the semi-final.

In the final game, the Spaniards scored first and never relinquished the lead.


They relied on superior defence and rebounding to snuff out the offensive threat of 2004 Olympic champions Argentina.

Point guard Ricky Rubio racked up 20 points and three assists.

Marc Gasol and Willy Hernangomez swatted three shots each as Spain pulled down 47 rebounds, 20 more than Argentina, en route to a comprehensive victory.

EFCC releases list of 11 Internet Fraudsters arrested in Delta (see photo)

It was end of the road for 11 suspected internet fraudsters as they were arrested at their hideout in an early morning raid in Sapele, Delta State on Saturday by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office.

The surprise raid in the wee hours of the day which was based on intelligence took the suspects by surprise and later led to a mild protest by their sympathizes several hours after the EFCC team had left the city.

The suspects arrested are: Omomua Victor, Demi Johnson, Agufure Godstime, Agboroko Precious, Anthony Omonomo, Onskharoma Julius and Freeborn Efe. Others are Akama Precious, Tagbajiemi Promise George Raphael and Stanley Agabiri


Items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include a lap top computer, a Mercedes-Benz car, computers, mobile Phones, flash drives and internet modems.

According to the EFCC, the suspects have made useful statements and would be charged to court as soon investigations were completed.

Court restrains Imo former Governor, Okorocha from selling EFCC-flagged properties

Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has lifted the interim forfeiture order on some the properties of Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo state, now under EFCC investigation.

But the reprieve came with some condition: Okorocha and his family must not sell or alienate any of the properties, pending the conclusion of investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Court directed the Applicants to, on or before Tuesday, September 17, 2019 depose to an affidavit of undertaking and adjourned till September 27 for report.


The judge gave the consequential Order while vacating the July 25, 2019 Interim Order, forfeiting five properties owned by Okorocha and his family to the Federal Government.

The properties are: Rochas Foundation College, Owerri, All in 1 Shopping Mall, East High Academy, East High College and Royal Spring Palm Hotel & Apartments.

The Registered Trustees of Rochas Foundation College, All-in Limited, Royal Spring Palm Apartments Limited, Registered Trustees of Women of Divine Destiny Initiative and Uluoma Okorocha Nwosu challenged the order on August 8, through five separate motions on notice, praying the court to vacate the interim forfeiture order.

The Commission in response filed counter affidavits to the motions of the applicants on 19 August, 2019.

On 21 August, 2019 when the case came up for hearing, the applicants’ informed the court that they were served with the Commission’s Counter Affidavits and asked for an adjournment which was granted by court.

When the case came up on September 9, 2019 for hearing of the motions, the applicants filed Further Affidavits and in reply to these further affidavits, the Commission filed counter affidavits to the applicants’ further affidavit and served them same day.

However, applicants’ Counsel Okey Amechi, SAN informed Justice Omotosho that they were just served and the court adjourned the case till Wednesday, September 11, 2019 for hearing.

After the Court sitting, the applicants’ served the Commission with 2nd further affidavit at precisely 11:21 am.

On Thursday, September12, 2019, counsel to the commission informed the Court that the Applicants had served him with their 2nd further affidavits and that he would need time to respond.

The Court gave the Commission till Friday, September,13, 2019 to file its counter affidavits, failing which it will make a consequential order.

This was after counsel to the applicants had drawn the attention of the court to the nature of the properties, one of which is a school which was scheduled to resume in September.

On Friday, September 13 when the matter came up, Counsel to the Commission informed the Court that he is yet to file its counter affidavits and the court issued the consequential order vis-à-vis the nature of the properties involved.

The Commission is studying the consequential order of court.

She also advised people to stay away from drugs, nudity and appealed to all to be great citizens of the country emphasising they are all praying for the youths. Her words;

“The people on the Internet do not even look like themselves when you see them, they live on borrowed robs. Internet is just an illusion. It is a cartoon.

“This generation has everything to be happy; during our youthful days, we had no phones, no internet, yet we were happy and have produced great Nigerians for you today.

“You need to be responsible else your generation will end up with pilots, medical doctors, nurses, engineers, bankers, security personnels etc that may be all drug addicts, ” she advised.

She said a Nigerian child needed to be priceless, top class and should not be seen as a cheap product that can be purchased with as little as recharge card.

Osinbajo further appealed to youth using internet to be cautions of their activities on the net as responsible companies at the moment, investigate applicants’ records including those on internet before hiring.

“A Nigerian prince and princess should have a good background, they should not be bought by a mere recharge card.

“The child that has made himself or herself n-ked today on the internet cannot be employed in any responsible company in Nigeria tomorrow, because they will check their internet records before employing now.

“Nigeria is waiting for you; the things you do today determine your tomorrow, don’t eat your tomorrow today. Everyone is waiting for you, everyone is praying for you, ” she cautioned.

Officer steals N10.4m from police bank

The management of the Nigeria Police Force Microfinance Bank in Lagos has dragged a police officer, Inspector Gideon wakili, before a Lagos Magistrate court for allegedly using credit card to fraudulently withdraw the sum of N10,486,784.00 from its account without authority and converted the money to his use.

A police source alleged that the arrest of the accused was ordered by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos. AIG Lawal Shehu following a petition by management of the bank.

The accused who was serving with the Borno Estate Police Command was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a one count charge of Felony of unit Stealing.


Police counsel, Inspector Francis Igbinosa told the court in charge No. U/58/2019 that the accused committed the offence between 17 December, 2018 and 17 may, 2019 at the Nigeria Police Force Microfinance Bank in Lagos.

Igbinosa informed the court that the accused used his position as a customer of the bank to use his credit card with No 5061600100041028449 to fraudulently withdraw the sum of N10, 486, 784 from the account of the Police Microfinance Bank, knowing full well that the money belonged to the Bank.

He said the offence the accused committed was punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate M.A Agbaje granted him bail in the sum of N2M with two sureties in the like sum.

Agbaje adjourned the case till 11 September, 2019 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at Ikoyi prison till he prefected the bail conditions.

Gold Toilet Stolen From U.K's Blenheim Palace

Burglars stole an expensive piece of art, a solid gold toilet from Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, in the United Kingdom, Thames Valley Police confirmed Saturday.

In a statement, Detective Inspector Jess Milne, said: “The piece of art that has been stolen is a high value toilet made out of gold that was on display at the palace.”

Police said the burglars broke in overnight and left the scene around 4:50 a.m. BST Saturday morning. Law enforcement received a call about the burglary at 4:57 a.m. No one was injured.

The artwork, titled “America,” was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and was first displayed in the Guggenheim in New York City, N.Y. in 2016. The fully functioning toilet, which visitors were welcome to use is made of 18-karat gold and reportedly estimated to be worth more than $1 million.

It had just opened at Blenheim Palace on Sept. 12, and was scheduled to run through Oct. 27.

In a press conference Saturday, Inspector Richard Nicholls said a 66-year-old man has been arrested “in connection with this incident.” He also said police believe the burglars used two vehicles.

Youths attack Oba Aderemi Adefehinti's palace for not attending festival because he became 'born again'

Ilara Mokin community in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State was on Friday evening thrown into commotion as youths in the community laid siege on their monarch’s palace.

The irate youths, who accused their traditional ruler, Alara of Ilara-Mokin, Oba Aderemi Adefehinti of allegedly refusing to partake in this year’s new yam festival, attacked the monarch alongside his wife.

It was gathered that the youths were infuriated by the decision of the monarch shirking in his royal role, following his alleged ‘born again’ stance.

In the course of the melee, the monarch’s wife, Olori Adefehinti was unlucky as she was beaten and injured by the youths while the monarch was rescued through the exit door behind the palace.

Confirming the development, the police spokesperson in the state, Femi Joseph disclosed that the situation was now under control.

Photos: Six dead, 3,500 evacuated in Spain floods

At least six people have been killed and around 3,500 others evacuated in two days of torrential rain in southeastern Spain.

Emergency services rescued people stuck in flooded highway tunnels as many roads, railways and an airport closed on Friday due to the severe weather conditions.

Floods swept away cars and debris in the regions of Valencia, Murcia and eastern Andalucia, while motorway tunnels in some areas were flooded almost up to the tunnel lighting.


The most recent victim was a 41-year-old man from the town of Orihuela, situated around 34 miles (55km) from the seaside town of Alicante.

A man was also found dead in the village of Redovan in Valencia after leaving his home on foot on Friday, while another was discovered in Granada province after his car was swept off a motorway.

A fourth man died in Almeria after trying to drive his car through a flooded tunnel, rescue services said.

On Thursday, a 51-year-old woman and her 61-year-old brother died when torrential rain dragged their car away.

A total of 74 roads were closed, along with the entire Murcia regional railway service and airport. The railway link between Alicante and Spain's two cities - Madrid and Barcelona, was also shut.

Interior Minister Fernando Grande Marlaska described the floods as "a serious tragedy".

'Slap them, shoot them,' President Duterte tells Filipinos how to treat corrupt officials

President Rodrigo Duterte has told Filipinos that they can “shoot but not kill” public officials who demand money in exchange for their services.

Duterte urged the public to be assertive when doing business with government agencies.

“The only thing that I am asking the Filipino people is really to be assertive, period ... If you pay taxes, fees, clearances or whatever, and these fools ask for a bribe, slap them. If you have a gun, you can shoot them, but don’t kill because you might not be included among those given pardon or computation,” Duterte, a former prosecutor, said in his speech during the inauguration of the Bataan government center and business hub dubbed “The Bunker.”


“Just the foot, then it will only be serious physical injuries ... You admit it, then you go to probation. You do not go inside the prison ... You’ll just report to a probation officer,” Duterte said. “At least you got to shoot a foolish thief.”

The president vowed to defend any person who shoots a corrupt official.

“I will defend you. If the incident reaches my office, I will call for the complainant and tell him to slap (the official) three times ... I’ll ask how much did he demand from you, sir? Five thousand? Then slap that son of a b**** two more times,” Duterte said.

Ogun polls: Tribunal quashes Akinlade, APM’s objection to Abiodun’s qualification

Justice Yusuf Halilu-led Election Petitions Tribunal has dismissed a preliminary objection filed against qualification of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the March 23 governorship poll in Ogun State.

The panel dismissed the application while determining two major preliminary objections before the final judgment in a petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Adekunle Akinlade and his party.

The petition was marked EPT/OG/GOV/01/19.


In the preliminary issues, the petitioner questioned Abiodun’s qualification and alleged false information in form submitted to the INEC to contest the governorship election in the state.

The petitioner alleged that Abiodun’s form CF001 submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) contained false information he deposed to on oath.

In determining the issue, the panel, in a unanimous ruling, held that the matter was a pre-election matter which ought to have been challenged within 14 days Form CF001 was submitted to the INEC.

The panel agreed with the Respondents’ Counsel that the preliminary objection was statue barred and thereby dismissed it. It also held that the matter had been put to rest by the Appeal Court, hence, the tribunal was bound by the judgment. The tribunal Chairman, Justice Yusuf Halilu is currently reading the final judgment.....

Bank accounts of Lawan, Gbajabiamila under investigation

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) has started the “secret” investigation of bank accounts of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; his deputy, Ovie Omo-Agege; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; his deputy, Idris Wase, as well as the principal officers and members of the National Assembly.

The bank accounts of all judges in Nigeria, including the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad are also under investigation.

The bank accounts of “other relevant politically exposed persons,” are also included.


The NFIU has taken a giant step in their secret investigation and written to all banks in the country, to send the banking information of the names under investigation.

The letter signed by the NFIU’s Associate Director, Analysis and Compliance, Fehintola Salisu, gave the banks up till September 13 (Friday) to comply with the directive.

The letter addressed to all Chief Compliance Officers of the banks was tagged “Request for information on all accounts of 1. the National Assembly. 2. All accounts of all the members of the National Judicial Council. 3. All accounts of all the members of the National Assembly. 4. Accounts of principal officers (Management) of National Assembly Service Commission. 5. All accounts of principal officers of the judiciary.”

“Kindly provide the NFIU with a schedule (account names and account numbers) of the National Assembly, members of National Assembly and principal officers of National Assembly Service Commission, as well as all accounts of National Judicial Service Commission and their principal officers, including judges and other relevant politically exposed persons.

“Kindly note that your response is expected on or before September 13, 2019,” the letter read.
