Apprentice commits suicide three months after boyfriend did the same

An apprentice tailor in Lagos, Adenike Fatai, has committed suicide barely three months after her boyfriend, Bayo Atanda, reportedly did the same thing.

Fatai, who hailed from Kwara State, reportedly took a poisonous substance suspected to be sniper around 8.30pm, last Thursday.

The 25-year-old woman lived with her mother on Igbekele Street, Iyana Cele bus stop, Shibiri area of Lagos State.

City Round learnt that Fatai had been battling depression since her boyfriend, whom she was living with in Orile, a neigbouring community, reportedly took a poison and died.

It was gathered that family and friends of Bayo did not believe the photographer committed suicide, accusing Fatai of killing him. The accusation allegedly heightened the trauma Fatai was going through.

Although no suicide note was found in the room, her status update on Facebook revolved round death and depression.

On June 30, she bemoaned the loss of her boyfriend, who had died two weeks earlier.

She wrote, “How would you do this? Why! Adebayo Olaleye Atanda Peter; still can (can’t) believe this is happening to me. I can (can’t) even say goodbye to you. Ifemi, ayomi; may Almighty Allah forgive all your sins. Rest on!”

Less than a month after, on July 25, she took to Facebook to express how much she missed her lover stating that, “The saddest part in life is to say goodbye to someone you want to spend your lifetime with.”

“Feeling angry with myself,” she wrote in the comment section of the post with a friend appealing to her to stop thinking negatively. The following day, she wrote, “Yaa Allah (Oh God); heal my heart, make it steadfast and make it strong enough to accept what you have destined for me.”

Speaking with City Round during the week, the deceased’s mother, Tawa, said she met her dead when she returned home from a prayer session that evening.

She stated, “That day, she finished cooking around 7pm and ate. She was outside after eating while I went to the mosque. Around 8pm, she came to the mosque to collect the key to our apartment and I told her to check the shop.

“On getting home some minutes after, I saw her lying on the floor with a bottle of sniper beside her. I called for help but it was late.”

Revealing the events leading to the relationship between the lovers, the mother said plans were ongoing to choose a date for their introduction.

She said, “She was learning tailoring in her sister’s place in Ikorodu. All of a sudden, her boss sent her away. She told me she had got another place to learn the vocation in Orile and that she would be living with a friend. I asked her to come and learn it at my place but she refused.

“Whenever I asked to see the friend, she would say she was not around. It was when I threatened to disown her that she told me she was living with her boyfriend. I tried to convince her that what she did was wrong, but she said the man’s (Bayo’s) house was close to where she was learning tailoring. I met with the man and he said he really wanted to marry her. He looked very gentle. We were planning the introduction when he died.

“On a Sunday around 11pm, my daughter called me and started crying on the phone. She said Bayo drank sniper. They took him to the Lagos Island General Hospital, but he died the following morning. That time, she said she would follow him and I tried to caution her.”

We are hungry, thirsty to receive 2020 Appropriation Bill – Lawan

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan said on Friday that the National Assembly is eager to receive the 2020 budget proposals.

“We are hopeful and optimistic, as well as hungry and thirsty, to receive the 2020 appropriations bill,” Lawan told reporters shortly on his arrival from a private visit abroad.

Lawan seized the advantage of the National Assembly’s current recess to travel on a private visit to Morocco and Germany.

“I am aware that the executive arm of government is working assiduously to ensure that the appropriation bill for the year 2020 is presented to the National Assembly by the end of this month.

“The National Assembly will work so hard to ensure that the 2020 budget is passed before we go on Christmas break,” Lawan said.

The Senate President said budget is one issue that the National Assembly will take head-on to ensure that the undesirable trend of the budget is reversed.
“We believe this can be achieved, as doing so would make the economy better and predictable.

“We also think an early passage of the 2020 appropriations bill will have a desirable impact on Nigerians,” Lawan said.

Lawan also disclosed that the executive has forwarded to the Senate the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) which will be considered when the Senate is back from its recess next week.

$9.6bn judgment: Grace Taiga ex-Petroleum Resources senior official sent to prison

Mrs. Grace Taiga, a female accomplice in the mega fraud, involving Process and Industrial Developments (P&ID) was remanded in Suleja Prison on Friday, on the orders of Justice O.A. Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, sitting in Apo, Abuja.

She is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Mrs.Taiga, a former director, Legal Services in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources was a key actor in the fraudulent Gas Supply and Processing Agreement (GSPA) between the federal government and P&ID. She is alleged to have used her position to administer undue favours to the company.

She was arraigned on an eight-count amended charges, bordering on accepting bribes and other related crimes.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In view of her plea, prosecution counsel, Bala Sanga prayed the court for a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded in prison custody.

Defence counsel, Ola Olanipekun SAN, however, made an oral bail application for the defendant, which Justice Adeniyi rejected, preferring that he filed a formal bail application.

Olanipekun SAN, further told the court that the defendant had been in the EFCC custody, all the while and was down with hypertension, praying that the defendant be remanded rather in the custody of the EFCC.

The prosecution counsel objected to the prayer and urged the court to discountenance the defendant’s claim of health challenges as there was no evidence or proof to it. He also objected to the prayer for the defendant to be remanded in EFCC’s custody, arguing that the matter was now in court and that the Commission’s detention facility was congested.

Justice Adeniyi adjourned the matter till September 25, 2019 for trial and remanded the defendant in the Suleja Prison.

Two directors of P&ID: Muhammed Kuchazi and Adamu Usman were on Thursday, September 19, 2019 convicted by a Federal High Court, Abuja, after they pleaded guilty to 11-count charge that bordered on obtaining by false pretence; dealing in petroleum products without appropriate license; tax evasion, money laundering and failure to register P&ID with EFCC’s Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML) as required by law.

The trial judge, Justice I.E. Ekwo also ordered a liquidation of the fraudulent company, while all of its assets are to be forfeited to the federal government.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West narrowly escape being fined for scaring Antelopes

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have a lot to learn about living in Wyoming -- where the deer and
the antelope play.

The couple was issued a slight scolding over a video Kim posted last weekend, in which it appears Kanye's taking them for an ATV ride across the range ... as he chases some pronghorns, aka American antelope.

At one point it sounds like Kim shouts, "I think you're scaring them!!!" ... and she's probably right ... which is why there are laws against it.

A spokesperson for the Wyoming Game & Fish Dept. tells TMZ ... State laws prohibit this type of animal harassment. We're told the department was made aware of Kim's video and paid a visit to the manager of Kanye's new ranch to make everyone is aware of the rules pertaining to wildlife.

TMZ also spoke with a source close to the couple who says they were simply cruising along when the animals came running by ...Kim and Kanye came to a slow soon after the vid and let the pronghorns on their way. They are told it wasn't a chase ... and they never disturbed the animals.

The good news for Kanye and Kim ... this can simply be considered a lesson learned.

Halfway through the interview, Dog breaks down a little bit, saying he believes the leading factor behind his chest pain was that he'd suffered a broken heart.

Toke Makinwa, Yvonne Jegede agree with Alibaba's post that says men feel insecure about women who wants to be successful

Alibaba has shared a post talking about how young women now take their lives seriously and trying to be the best at what they do and in reality. it has made some men 'weak' and not supporting. After the comedian dropped the post, Yvonne Jegede admitted it's the story of her life in one post , while Toke also said these are the ''issues''.

Alibaba's post below....

''And when the young ladies decide to pocket the achievements and advantages they have, so they can submit to a man in that their age bracket, many of these men have been sooo beaten by the tides of life, that they are too busy fighting the wife they should work with.
_
Any attempt by the wife to suggest to him to get up and do something to succeed, is treated as disrespect, nagging, pressure and sometimes stress.
_
One guy was so broken by the frustration of not having made it since he graduated in 2010, and still without a job, that he wanted his Assistant Manager fiance, to move to his father's house in Magodo, from the Oniru 2 bedroom, she presently occupied.
_
Why don't you move in with her and make your great moves from there? "Never. I can't marry and move into my wife's house." That is from a 32 year old guy, who still lives in his parents house.
_
Don't get me wrong ooo. The economy is messed up. Our politicians have not done much to drag us out of the down turn. After elections, they start working toward the next election.
_
The problem has left many young men, not ready to be married. They are not prepared or do not have what it takes to be a man that can take a woman as wife. And not just as wife, to even be able to provide as the head of the house.
_
So the few men who are loaded and ready, are few and in very high demand. Many ladies can hurt any other lady who tries to take any rare find, of such a man. Especially if he has a house, good job, good car, looks good, dresses well and has very few defects.
_
So what's the issue? The issue now, is that, even when these kind of young men, meet young ladies, who (by any reason) had a headstart, the young men are too faaaaaar behind, ill equipped and unprepared in the sourcing for opportunities and management of the relationship.
_
They are now slaves to ego, frustration, pride, peer pressure, poverty of mind and sometimes total disillusionment.
_
Look around. Don't say I told you. Everywhere. There are many, who don't know what to do, how to do it, where to do it, when to do it... Even with a Masters Degree in Bus Admin, LL''
