Just like Dolapo Osinbajo, Fashola advises the youths

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Thursday called on the youth to rise up to the responsibility of nation building, as the future belonged to them.

Fashola made the call during the 81st anniversary, Ikoyi Club 1938 Lecture in Lagos.

Speaking on the topic “Youths and Leadership in Nation Building”, the minister said that there were several opportunities youths must seize locally by taking responsibility, instead of migrating to other countries.

“Have we built that spirit that we will not give up on our country? There is a lot of goodness here in Nigeria, unless you change your mindset, you will not see it,” he said.

Fashola urged youths to change from that mindset of entitlement only to include duties to the nation, to ensure development of the country.

He said that every generation had duties it must carry out and challenged Nigerian youths to take initiative to change trends.

The minister said that youths locally and globally who chose to act to fill leadership vacuum had changed the way things were done in various sectors, lifestyles and livelihoods.

“Youths should have a sense of duty, every generation of youths must understand their duty and rise up to it. That sense of duty and responsibility is what is important.

“Everybody has a space to contribute if we move away from our sense of entitlement,” he said.

Speaking on duty and leadership, he said young people had the responsibility of defending a nation.

He said that the responsibility to build Nigeria fell “squarely on the shoulders of the young people”.

PDP condemns protest against Ambode at Lagos Assembly, accuses Sanwo-Olu of sponsoring it

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has condemned the recent protest at the state House of Assembly, calling for the probe of former Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.

A statement by Mr Taofik Gani, Lagos PDP spokesperson on Thursday in Lagos, said that the protest lacked sincerity of purpose and obviously calculated at embarrassing the immediate past governor.

A group, under the aegis of the Lagos Youth Vanguard, led Rasak Olokooba, and Ibrahim Ekundina, had on Tuesday stormed the Lagos Assembly, demanding a probe of the former governor.

“Disturbing is the tendency of such protests to overheat the polity and increase the already created loss of confidence in the government,” the PDP said.

The PDP accused Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu led APC government of being behind the protests.

“The governor himself is sponsoring such protests against his predecessor, unfortunately overheating the polity and to distract Lagosians away from his abysmal performances.

“To the PDP, Governor Sanwo-Olu has created “Official Vendetta” in Lagos governance; unfortunately for him, his ranking is going down whilst he needlessly goes after his predecessor,” the statement said.

The PDP, however, called for a holistic probe of the administrations of Bola Tinubu, Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, rather than restricting it only to Ambode’s regime.

“Lagosians are eager to know the stewardship of their former governors.

” From 1999 till 2018 over N17 trillion was realized as IGR, royalties, Federal Allocations, investments and crude oil discovery.

“Unfortunately, much of these monies are linked to Hotels, Airlines, Oil Companies, construction companies, home & Abroad,” the PDP said.

Policewoman drags husband to court, he sleeps with me with charm, she alleges

A policewoman, Sgt. Wuraola Babalola, has had her marriage of 14 years to Oladimeji dissolved, over allegations that he attempted to use her for money ritual.

Wuraola petitioned a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan and accused the husband of wife battery and fetishism.

Chief Ademola Odunade, the President of the court, dissolved the marriage, on grounds of threat to life.

He granted custody of the three children to the petitioner and ordered the respondent to pay N15,000 as the monthly feeding allowance.

Wuraola alleged that Oladimeji used different kinds of charms whenever he wanted to sleep with her.

She alleged that Oladimeji has also turned her into his punching bag.

”At any slightest opportunity, he prevents my relatives from seeing me.

”He puts charms in my private part whenever he wants to sleep with me. He also surrounds my plate of food with charms, saying he uses it to protect me.

“He has also buried different kinds of charms in the house chanting my name. My first child saw him do that.

“I have evidence of all the charms and how he maltreats me on my cellphone,” she alleged.

Oladimeji was not in court to answer to the allegations.

The bailiff informed the court that he had on several occasions served hearing notices on Oladimeji, who lives in Oluyole Estate in Ibadan.

The arbitrator ordered the clerk of the court to ensure that copy of the judgment was sent to Oladimeji.

Wendy Williams suggests Meghan could be pregnant again after wearing two of the maternity clothes she wore last year

Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child just four months ago, but that hasn't stopped the world from keeping her on baby watch. The latest to comment on rumors the Duchess of Sussex might be pregnant again is television host Wendy Williams.

"They're saying that she might be pregnant again," she said during "The Wendy Williams Show" on Wednesday. "I mean after only giving birth four months ago... I guess... if your body hasn't fully come back and things are still, you know, ready down there, I don't know, that would have been my election like if I could do it all over again."

Williams continued, "You know, they call them Irish twins. Isn't that when they are less than a year old from each other? I think that's a great idea."

Williams went on to state that she doesn't know for sure if Meghan is pregnant but feels that the new mom gave the world a few hints when she chose to wear two of the same maternity outfits that she wore last year during her royal tour to South Africa.

Shocking photos! Kaduna house of horror where 300 children are found chained, starved, s3xually abused

The police in Kaduna in central Nigeria have uncovered a house in Rigasa harbouring no fewer than 300 children, chained on the legs and starving.

Some of the children are between the age of five and ten, TVC News has reported.

The big surprise was that the children are manacled, possibly to ensure that they do not escape.

According to the report, the people manning the house of horror claim it’s an Islamic rehabilitation centre.

The detained children said they were forced to fast, and that they were were being sexually abused.

The police suspected that the children may be undergoing some form of indoctrination.

All the children have been moved, the report said.

TVC did not state whether the minders of the abused and starving children have been arrested.

Later at a press conference, the police expatiated on their shock find.

The victims, according to the police, are from Burkina Faso, Mali and other African countries.

Death and Homosexuality

Bello Hamza, one of the victims, said he was supposed to be pursuing a Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics in South Africa, when his family members brought him to the centre, three months ago.

He told journalists that he was tricked into the centre by his family members.

Hamza said  he spent three months in chains.

“I got admission to study Applied Mathematics, but here I am chained. They claim to be teaching us Quran and Islam but they do a lot of things here. They subject the younger ones to homosexuality.

“This is supposed to be an Islamic centre, but trying to run away from here attracts severe punishment; they tie people and hang them to the ceiling for that, but engaging in homosexuality attracts no punishment.

“Within my short stay here, somebody had died as a result of torture. Others have died before my coming due to poor health and torture. They give us very poor food and we only eat twice a day; 11:00am and 10:00pm.

“They have denied me a lot of things here. I am a family man, I have responsibilities, but I am chained here not knowing what is happening to my family members.”

Ali Janga, Kaduna police commissioner, said: “We received an information that something is going on in this rehabilitation centre or Islamic centre. So, I sent my DPO here to check what was going on.

“On getting here, we discovered that, this is neither a rehabilitation centre or Islamic school. You can see it yourself that, small children, some of whom are brought from neighbouring African countries like Burkina Faso, Mali and others and from across Nigeria. Most of them are even chained.

“These people are being used, dehumanised. You can see it yourself. The man who is operating this home claimed that, parents brought their children here for rehabilitation. But, from the look on things this is not a rehabilitation centre. No reasonable parent will bring his children to this place.

“So, we are going to investigate them and get to the root of the matter. We will find out the real motive behind this centre, and if they are found wanting they will be charged to court. But first, we are evacuating all the people from this place to our station and we will make announcement for parents to come and recover their children.”

They allegedly stabbed and poured pepper on him until they confirmed he was no longer breathing.

His assailants were said to have locked the house’s burglary proof, frustrating all attempt by the deceased to seek for help.

It was gathered that he died before neighbours could come to his rescue while Mama Ejime was said to have escaped.

“The interim order of this honourable court was published in The Nation Newspaper, while the court’s processes were served alongside with the hearing notice to the defendant, but despite this, the defendant did not show up to explain why the said properties should not be forfeited to the federal government,” Justice Oyinloye said.

Transgender man loses battle to be registered as father

A transgender man from Kent who gave birth with the help of fertility treatment cannot be registered as his child’s father, the most senior family judge in England and Wales has ruled.

In the first legal definition of a mother in English common law, Sir Andrew McFarlane, the president of the high court’s family division, ruled on Wednesday that motherhood was about being pregnant and giving birth regardless of whether the person who does so was considered a man or a woman in law.

Freddy McConnell, 32, who has lived as a man for several years but retained his female reproductive system and gave birth in 2018, went to court after a registrar insisted he was recorded as the baby’s mother on the birth certificate despite holding a gender recognition certificate that made it clear the law considered him male.

The ruling was quickly attacked by campaigners and lawyers as a blow to the rights of trans parents and their children and sparked calls, including from the judge, for legislative reform.

“Being a ‘mother’ or a ‘father’ with respect to the conception, pregnancy and birth of a child is not necessarily gender specific,” McFarlane concluded after McConnell requested a judicial review.

“There is a material difference between a person’s gender and their status as a parent. Being a ‘mother’, whilst hitherto always associated with being female, is the status afforded to a person who undergoes the physical and biological process of carrying a pregnancy and giving birth.

“It is now medically and legally possible for an individual, whose gender is recognised in law as male, to become pregnant and give birth to their child. Whilst that person’s gender is ‘male’, their parental status, which derives from their biological role in giving birth, is that of ‘mother’.”

87-year-old killed her disabled grandson with overdose

A Florida woman who cared for her disabled adult grandson on weekends faces second-degree murder charges after she told the police she gave him a fatal overdose over concerns about who would care for him when she died, the authorities said.

The police responded to a call on Sunday afternoon in Bradenton, Fla., about 40 miles south of Tampa, and found the grandson, Joel Parks, dead at the scene, Capt. Brian Thiers of the Bradenton Police Department said in a news conference on Tuesday. Mr. Parks was discovered by a sister.

Mr. Parks, 30, lived with his grandmother and part-time caretaker, Lillian Parks, 87, on weekends and in a group home during the week, Captain Thiers said. Mr. Parks was unable to care for himself, but details about his exact health condition were not known, he added.

After the authorities arrived, Ms. Parks made “several concerning remarks, spontaneous remarks,” including that she had “purposely overdosed” her grandson, Captain Thiers said.

“She was concerned about her medical condition and was worried about who would be caring for him in the event that she passed away,” he added. Mr. Parks’s father is deceased and his mother is estranged, Captain Thiers said.

Ms. Parks was taken into protective medical custody for an evaluation, the police said.

Captain Thiers said on Wednesday that a judge had signed an arrest warrant for Ms. Parks on second-degree murder charges.

“As soon as she’s released from medical care, we will be taking her into custody under those charges,” Captain Thiers said.

Second man arrested over Mac Miller's death

Another man has been arrested in connection with Mac Miller's fatal overdose.

36-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Ryan Reavis is in custody ... this after the FBI and DEA targeted him over Mac's death. The law enforcement agencies obtained a search warrant for Reavis' home, and what they found led to his arrest.

According to investigators, drugs were found -- including prescription-only pills and marijuana.

Cops say they also confiscated firearms, including a 9mm pistol and two shotguns, a homemade firearm suppressor and an arsenal of ammo.

Perhaps most important ... police found a physician's prescription pad.

Reavis was arrested and booked on fraud, drug and gun charges on $50,000 bail.

You will recall ... Mac's alleged dealer, Cameron James Pettit, was arrested a few weeks ago for allegedly supplying Mac with deadly counterfeit oxy pills ... which cops say led to his death.

In the charging docs, prosecutors said Pettit worked with two women, who police say also played a role in supplying Mac with drugs 2 days before he died.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo splits from girlfriend... after 14 years together

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and his longtime girlfriend, reality TV star Sandra Lee, are calling it quits.

The Governor and Sandra released a joint statement Wednesday announcing their split, saying, "Over the recent past, we have realized that our lives have gone in different directions and our romantic relationship has turned into a deep friendship."

They continued, "We will always be family and are fully supportive of each other and dedicated to the girls. Our personal lives remain personal and there will be no further comment."
Rumors they'd ended things were swirling earlier this year after the couple put their luxurious colonial mansion on the market, but Sandra denied a breakup at the time ... saying they just didn't need that much space anymore.

Sandra and Cuomo first got together in 2005 -- 1 year before he won the office of New York Attorney General, and 5 years before he was elected Governor. Of course, her role as a de facto First Lady of New York wasn't just standing by her man.

Besides her role as a de facto First Lady of the Empire State ... Sandra is a major personality on the Food Network and a best-selling author.

They had no children together, but the Governor has 3 daughters from a previous marriage.

Wedding photo of Diddy's ex, Cassie

Cassie and Alex Fine are officially husband and wife. They got married yesterday in Malibu, with director Peter Berg officiating.

Berg posted, "By the power vested in me ..... long may you ride!"

As you know, Diddy's ex hooked up with Alex sometime after he became her trainer.

Diddy believed they were romantically involved while he was still with her, although they deny that. Diddy was also pissed off because he paid Alex to train Cassie.

Cassie and Alex announced in June that they were expecting their first child together.  They got engaged on August 27. We say big congrats to them.

Four decaying bodies found with gunshot wounds

Four decaying bodies found shot to death in a vacant Ohio home are being probed as homicides.

The bodies of the four were found in a home on East 114th Street in Cleveland on Saturday around 9pm when police responded to a call that a dead body had been discovered.

The bodies were found in a bedroom on the third floor of the abandoned home, that was known for drug activity. Police said they also found a gun inside the home as well but it's unclear if that was the weapon used in the murders.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified two of those victims using fingerprints as 20-year-old Dejuan Willis and 23-year-old Christopher Monroe, both from Cleveland.

Authorities say they're not sure how long the four were dead for nor who was behind their deaths.

The medical examiner said although the bodies were decomposed, they're hopeful to identify the remaining two bodies within the next few days.

The East Side community is now mourning the tragedy.

A woman who claimed one of her son was among the four deceased told News5 that she hadn't heard from him in more than two weeks.

Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Bishop said the neighborhood is known to have issues with homelessness and drugs.

The victims' loved ones started to share tributes to them over the weekend.

'I don't (sic) even know what to say I'm just hurt bout. This my brother man, he was like my lil brother we did everything together,' a friend said sharing a picture of Dejuan Willis on a Facebook page called the Cleveland, Ohio Remembrance Page.

Another person shared a picture of Chris saying: 'This is Chris and he's a friend of my family we just found out he has passed away we don't know how or when it happened just wanted to let you know.'

On Sunday family, friends, and church members gathered at the crime scene to pay their respects.

#MeToo experience: Cardi B recounts how she was sexually assaulted during a magazine photo shoot

Cardi B admitted she was sexually assaulted during a magazine shoot as she revealed her own #MeToo experience for an upcoming episode of Untold Stories of Hip Hop.

The 26-year-old phenom told Angie Martinez that she would 'never forget' the frightening encounter, with a full interview set to air on Thursday, Sept. 26 on the WE tv network.

The Bodak Yellow rapper went as far as to tell the owner of the magazine about what happened during the photo shoot, only for the owner to show little concern for the harrowing incident.
'I will never forget how I went to shoot for this magazine and the photographer, he was trying to get close to me like, "Yeah, you want to get in this magazine?" she recalled. 'Then he pulled his d*** out.'

'I was so f***ing mad, and I was just like, "This is crazy."'

She told the photographer 'you're f***ing bugging' before storming off the set in complete shock.
It's unclear when the sexual assault happened or which magazine she was working with, and Cardi hasn't revealed the photographers name.

Making a bad situation even worse, Cardi was beside herself after hearing that there were no repercussions for the photographers actions.

'You know what’s so crazy? I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like, "So? And?"' she said.

Moment an heroic businessman fights off four armed robbers at his home (video)

This is the moment a brave homeowner fights off four armed robbers with his bare hands during a terrifying raid on his home.

Estate agent Asif Ali, 35, confronted the men after they broke into his home in Bamford, Greater Manchester, at around 9.15pm on Tuesday night.

In CCTV footage of his brave defence of his home, Mr Ali is seen landing a flurry of blows on one thug before two accomplices join the brawl and he fights them off too.

Today Mr Ali explained how his first thought was to protect his wife Charlotte, 30, who was asleep in bed at the time of the attack.

The video of the invasion of his home starts with a thug, dressed in a hooded jacket and balaclava, walking through the open door of Mr Ali's home.

The businessman immediately confronts him and ducks a left-handed punch from the thug.

He then launches a flurry of jabs of his own, pummelling him into a corner of his home.
Suddenly another attacker bursts in through the open door and Mr Ali takes on both men at once, with his dog, which had alerted him when it barked at the men, running through their legs.

To add further odds to the fight, a third thug appears but Mr Ali is able to force all three men out of his home.

He tries to shut the door but one thug keeps it open and storms back in the house as Mr Ali runs to his kitchen to pick up two kitchen knives.

Thugs stabbed 20 year-old photographer to death 'for giving them a weird stare'

An Arsenal fan on the way to a match was stabbed to death by an attacker who accused him of 'staring at him weirdly' on a tube platform, friends have said.

Photographer Tashan Daniel, 20, was getting the tube to the Emirates stadium to watch the game between his team and Nottingham Forest when he was the victim of an apparently random attack at Hillingdon station.

A friend, who described Tashan as the 'softest guy', said: 'I'd heard someone on the opposite platform said he was staring at him weirdly.'

Around two hours later, a 22-year-old, named locally as Osvaldo Carvalho, was brutally attacked and killed near Ealing Common.

The Met Police confirmed today the two murders - which are believed to be the 113th and 114th violent deaths in London this year - are being treated as separate incidents.

Passengers were in tears after witnessing the brutal stabbing which police said began on the train and spilled onto the platform.

Shouts and screams were heard from the platforms as shocked commuters rushed out of Hillingdon Station in north west London.

Luke Flynn, a colleague and former schoolmate of Mr Daniel, said: 'He will be missed my his friends family and work colleagues.

'He was really involved in his track running. I'm pretty sure he was one of the better runners in the UK. He was always doing it every weekend. He was doing really well in the 100m and 60ms.

'He was a nice guy, quiet, and just got on with his work. It's sickening. It's horrible to hear, he was such a nice guy, he was always up for helping. Everyone was taken aback when they heard.'

A spokesman for Arsenal FC said: 'Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Arsenal fan Tashan Daniel.

Neighbours of mum who was mauled to death by dogs tell how they bravely tried to fight off the animals

The neighbours of a mother-of-three who died after being attacked by her two dogs at her house in Cheshire have revealed how they bravely tried to fight off the crazed animals.

The victim, named locally as 44-year-old Elayne Stanley, was found with serious injuries and died at the scene at her home in Widnes.

Neighbours say it was Ms Stanley's own dogs, which are Mastiff-types called Billy and DJ, that attacked her

The 44-year-old's terrified three children - her 22-year-old daughter Louise, along with her twin daughters, aged around 12 - were in the terraced house at the time the out-of-control pets pounced.

Now, neighbours have shared how they tried to fight off the two crazed dogs as they mauled and then horrifically killed their owner in her living room.

Brave neighbour Carl Rees managed to burst into the victim's locked home, at around 5.15pm on Tuesday, and he battled to keep the dogs away from a heavily-bleeding Mrs Stanley.

He threw bricks and other objects to try and distract the animals, but she had already suffered a fatal wound to her neck and died at the scene.

He was also heard to yell, 'I can't get at her,' as he valiantly tried to come to her rescue.

Mr Rees said: 'I got the dogs off her. There were two dogs, massive, bigger than mine.

'I went in to attack the dogs with some of my tools.

'I couldn't get close to them, I threw bricks at the dog attacking her. I managed to get them off.

'They scurried into the garden and the other neighbour tried to cover the puncture wounds with towels, I tried CPR until the paramedics got here.'

Next-door neighbour Jason Brennan said he was in the back garden when he saw Ms Stanley's two young children were 'hanging out the back window', screaming.

He said: 'I could hear the dogs growling.

'From the front garden, I could see Elayne getting attacked inside. She was getting dragged about.

'The dogs were pulling her everywhere.'

Locals said there had not been any recent incidents involving the dogs, but some residents said they were large animals who would jump up excitedly at the window when people walked past.

Mother-of-two Savannah Hayes, 22, another close neighbour, who was outside the Stanley house, said: 'The dogs were just not budging [from attacking Elayne].'

Another neighbour Marie Airey said: 'I heard it all kick off. The screams were terrible.

'I heard someone shout, ''Get towels, get an ambulance!''

'All hell broke loose...those poor kids.

'I've got a 10-year-old daughter who has stroked the female dog, Billy. She's been for sleepovers.'

The dogs, not thought to be a banned breed, called DJ and Billy, were chased by police officers who arrived at the scene.

One of the dogs was shot dead with two bullets, at around 9.30pm, as cops struggled to tranquillise and then contain it.

The second is being kept in a secure kennel.

No arrests have been made, and so far, it is thought there may not be any future criminal prosecution as the dogs were legal and their owner has died in the incident.
