Nigerians not eligible for Saudi Arabia tourist visas
The conservative Islamic Kingdom that is trying to boost tourism income said citizens from up to 49 countries can apply through Saudi embassies and consulates across the world. There is no single African country on the list, not even Egypt that is its ally in the blockade of Qatar.
The countries eligible are USA, Canada, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Brunei, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Spain, Belgium, Malaysia, Austria, Cyprus, UK, Croatia, Estonia, Andorra, Denmark, Germany, Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Holland, Italy, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, Greece and Liechtenstein.
Others are Monaco, Iceland, Malta, Poland, Latvia, Norway, Russia, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia,
Montenegro, Slovakia, Switzerland, Portugal, Sweden, Australia, San Marino, Ukraine, China, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Citizens from the 49 countries will be eligible to apply for e-visas and visas on arrival.

Zamfara Governor allegedly shuts school, suspends workers after finding Quran in school's sewage
The school has also been shut pending a full investigation by the state Basic Education Commission, said a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by Yusuf Idris, the Director-General, Press Affairs to the governor.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that pages of the Holy Qur’an were discovered around 11 a.m. on Friday in the sewage of the school.
There have been reports of alleged abuses of the Holy Book in the state since late 2017.
The incidences occurred at Danturai Primary school, State Library, Farida General Hospital, and Rabi’a Jumaat Mosque, among others, all within Gusau metropolis.
The governor, who is currently in the United States, said the government would fish out the perpetrators.
He directed the deployment of three additional security guards to all public primary schools in the state capital.
“Government will deal ruthlessly with anyone with a hand in this dastardly act, however highly placed,” he said and urged residents to be more vigilant.
Mr Matawalle said people should report suspicious movements in their areas to security agencies or Sharia commission officials for prompt intervention.

Kogi Election: Fulanis ordered to vote for Bello
The National Organising Secretary of the group, Aliyu Saleh, who made the declaration at a news conference in Lokoja on Saturday, directed Fulanis in the state to immediately embark on Ruga-to-Ruga campaign for the re-election of Mr Bello.
Mr Saleh said the group decided to support the governor for providing a secure environment for Fulanis to operate in the state.
“We are also supporting the governor for approving free Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pneumonia (CBPP) vaccination for over 23,000 cows belonging to our members in the state,” he said.
The group also commended Mr Bello for putting in place measures which had led to a reduction in clashes between farmers and herders in the state.

Celine Dion insists she has 'always been very thin' as she hits back at critics of her slim frame
The Canadian songstress said that 'she's always been very thin,' in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Music industry neglected Mad Melon before death – One half of Danfo driver speaks
Hours after news of the artiste’s demise surfaced on the Internet, many artistes had posted his picture on social media, mourning his death.
However, some of his colleagues were of the view that it was just a show of ‘fake love’. A particular artiste, Kelly Hansome, described the Nigerian music industry as disrespectful and ungrateful, stating that those mourning his colleague did not support him before his death.
In a chat with Saturday beat, Mountain Black seemed to agree with Hansome. He said, “Yes, he was neglected (by the music industry).
We became popular in 2003, and we had been managing ourselves since then. I believe that with God, all things are possible. We believed in ourselves, and that is why we were still relevant in the industry till now.
The industry is very wide; you can fix yourself anywhere and make your money. We were, also, both involved in transportation business.”
On the nature of Mad Melon’s illness, Black said, “I am not a doctor. I was actually not around. It was when I got back, I was told that he was not feeling well.

UN Peacekeeping helicopter crashes in Central Africa
has confirmed.
The four crew members onboard were all part of the Senegalese ‘blue helmets’ contingent, flying a Mi-24 helicopter providing air support to an ongoing MINUSCA security operation in Nana-Mabere province, before they were reportedly forced to make an emergency landing due to bad weather, near Bouar, not far from the Cameroon border.
Secretary-General António Guterres offered his “heartfelt condolences to the families of the peacekeepers, as well as to the Government and people of Senegal” in a statement issued in New York by his Spokesperson.
“He wishes a speedy recover to the injured” and “reaffirms the commitment of the United Nations to supporting the people and Government of CAR in their efforts to consolidate peace”, the statement continued.
The surviving peacekeeper is in critical condition and was due to be evacuated to a hospital for emergency treatment, MINUSCA said in a statement.

N90bn allegation: We will fight for Osibanjo, CAN vows
Timi Frank, former deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had alleged that Osinbajo mismanaged N90 billion made available by the FIRS for 2019 election campaign purposes.
Frank claimed to have information to defend his allegations and dared the vice president to challenge him in court.
The FIRS had denied the claim and demanded an apology.
While speaking at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abuja, on Friday, Supo Ayokunle, CAN national president said the allegations are baseless and are far from the truth, adding that the church will defend the vice president.
Ayokunle called out Timi Frank to tender evidence or desist from tarnishing the image of the vice president.
“He has cleared the air that the allegation is baseless and there is no truth in it and that some people are plotting against him and he was ready to provide himself to be cleared,” Ayokunle told journalists.
“If there is an allegation there must be evidence and that it can never happen and will never happen. The church and the entire country will fight for him.”
