Bernard Simon, suspected killer of Oluyemisi Ogundana, commandant of Command Secondary School at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna, has disclosed how he killed her.
Simon, who was among the 50 suspects paraded by Ali Janga, Kaduna state police commissioner, on Wednesday, said he alone killed the female officer.
While parading the suspect, the police commissioner said Simon r*ped the naval officer to death.
However, Simon denied r*ping the deceased before killing her. He said he sneaked into her house at the Jaji military cantonment and hit her on the head with an iron rod.
Asked why he killed her, Simon, 36, said: “I killed her because she was cheating us in the school. I am a teacher in the school and she was cheating us as staff under her. I killed her to set the whole staff of the school free from her cheats.
“There are some financial benefit she deprived us of. She denied me in particular of over N100,000. That is why I killed her to set myself and other staff free from her.”
Simon, who confessed to throwing the mutilated body of Ogundana into the a shallow well, said he regretted his action.
Ogundana was killed about three weeks ago while her dismembered body was packed inside a sack and dumped in a shallow well at a village close to the cantonment.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a suspected fraudster, Abdulrauf Illyasu, for allegedly defrauding members of the public within the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The said Mr. Illyasu was said to have secured an office opposite the presidential banquet hall, where he carried out his nefarious activities.
EFCC sources informed The Punch in Abuja on Wednesday that the suspect claimed to be a member of the Chattered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, and also a deputy general manager with the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria.
EFCC investigation showed that he swindled the Managing Director of Galaxy Investment, Babagana Dalor, of N500million.
Dalor is also under EFCC investigations for operating a Ponzi scheme running into billions of naira.
Illyasu was also said to have defrauded Union and Allied Engineers Ltd. of N70million.
His other victims include Excel Technology Ltd., which lost N50m to him; Arabo and Co. Ltd., N50m; Crystal Gate Ltd., N25m; Diamond Global Fencing, over N27m and many others.
A source stated, "The suspect collected the money with the promise of using his office to facilitate contracts and other favours for them (his victims) and he actually gave them contracts letters signed by him.
“He allegedly admitted that he used about N1bn from monies realised to take care of the disabled persons.”
It was gathered that the suspect, in a bid to convince his victims, took them to some state governors.

At the Budget debate which began on Wednesday, Senator Enyinnanya Abaribe, representing Abia South senatorial district, said the Buhari government has failed and there is need for it to be taken over and the economic policies of the present administration redirected.
“I want to suggest a name to those who wrote this speech for the president that this is nothing but a budget of taxation,” Abaribe said before being interrupted by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who cautioned him to stop the attack.
“I just want to appeal to you to talk to what was read in the budget speech,” the top lawmaker advised his colleague.
Continuing from where he stopped the Abia lawmaker who is the Minority leader of the upper legislative chamber, re-emphasised the proposed name he gave to the budget and described it as unsustainable.
“This is a budget that is based on taxation. Its is based on 7.5 per cent increase in VAT, based on several other increases,” he said querying, “How would you talk about job creation when you do not invest in what will create jobs? Debt servicing as a component is higher than capital expenditure. Two trillion for capital expenditure, 2.4trn for debt servicing."
Abaribe added that it is time for the red chamber to take over from the executive whom he said have failed.

Angry farmers in Mexico abducted the mayor of their village and dragged him through the streets after claiming he failed them on his key campaign promises.
A group of protesters armed with clubs and rocks detained the mayor of Las Margaritas and tied him to the back of a pickup truck and dragged him through the streets.
Police intervened to free Jorge Luis Escandón Hernández, who suffered no major injuries after the ordeal, according to local news website El Heraldo de Mexico.
Footage of the attack shows the man being dragged along a road, with a mob running after him.

In an earlier incident four months ago, a group of men ransacked his office after turning up there and finding it empty. A senior lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Business School, Dr. Emmanuel Acheampong is the latest to share his experience.
Speaking on Ahotor FM monitored by DailyNewsGhana.com, he disclosed that some time ago, a female student in one of the universities in the country, “not at GIMPA” where he is “a part-time lecturer” offered him sex for grades.
“She was a Nigerian student,” he indicated.
According to Dr. Acheampong, the student had included “her n.a.k.e.d picture and telephone number” in her answer booklet after writing his paper.
“When I opened the paper, it was an empty sheet with her naked picture and telephone number under it. I called her and with my background as a Christian, I counselled her,” he revealed.

According to him, because these things happen in most of the universities, he usually gives out questions before the exam to avoid anything of the sort. This practice discourages students from coming to you, he said.

Barrass cried throughout the 20-minute hearing at Sheffield Crown Court and was separated from Machin, who showed no emotion, by three security guards. She was told she could be jailed for the rest of her life.
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC told the pair they will be sentenced on November 12 and said: "No words of mine can ever fully reflect the enormity of what you have both done.
"The crimes you have committed quite frankly speak for themselves. The murder of two children.
"The attempted murder of four children and the over-arching conspiracy to murder those children.
"I repeat, those crimes speak for themselves.
"I have little doubt that each of you will in due course be sentenced to several terms of life imprisonment.
"This may well be a case, but it's a matter for the judge, where a whole life order is imposed."
A 27-year-old woman and a policeman were found dead in Rustenburg, South Africa in an apparent murder suicide, North West police said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Captain Sam Tselanyane said police were called to a shooting incident in Boitekong on Sunday and were shown a door which had been kicked down.
They went inside and, to their horror, found Khanyisile Ntanga with a gunshot wound to her head, and next to her was her boyfriend, 37-year-old Rustenburg police Constable Sello Tshukudu.
"He had a bullet wound to the head and was lying in a pool of blood," said Tselenyane.

Unknown gunmen have abducted nine persons in Pegi, a community in Kuje Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The attackers were said to have ambushed their victims, including a 12-year-old boy around 8pm on Monday, while returning home.
The notorious gunmen, who were reportedly dressed in military camouflage, were said to have shot and injured one person before taking away nine others.
Chairman of Pegi Community Development Association, Mr Taiwo Aderibigbe, said the attackers also shot at two vehicles including the driver of a pick-up van who sustained injuries.
He added that the victim had been taken to a hospital and the incident reported to the police.
