Offset surprises Cardi B with two huge diamond rings on her 27th birthday (video)

They are known for their very expensive taste and love for the finer things in life.

So it was little surprise that Cardi B was left close to happy tears as her husband Offset gifted her with not one but two enormous heart-shaped diamond rings for her 27th birthday on Friday.

In addition to her own gifts, the doting parents also showered 14-month-old daughter Kulture with a plethora of gold jewels, with the tot seen dancing along to her parents’ track Clout in a sweet video.

In a video posted to both their Instagram accounts of Saturday, Cardi can be seen sitting around a dinner table with Offset and her loved ones as they mark her 27th year.

A friend then brings out a silver cloche and brings it over to the rapper as she excitedly awaits her birthday surprise.

Nervous about what she was about to receive, Cardi joked that she was ‘scared to open it’, adding that her heart was ‘beating fast’.

Her beau then leaned over it and lifted the lid to reveal two jewellery boxes sat on a bed of rose petals, with the boxes displaying the enormous glittering jewels.

Disobedience to court orders will attract grave consequences, Chief Justice of Nigeria warns

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has warned against disobedience to orders issued by courts, stating that it would attract grave consequences.

The CJN issued the warning in Abuja on Friday at the launching of the 9th House of Representatives Legislative Agenda.

While the CJN did not mention a specific case, the warning is coming at a time when the Federal Government and security agencies are under criticisms for the continued detention of a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), Publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore, among several other Nigerians, despite court orders freeing them.

Muhammad, who was represented by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, stated that justice must be served without fear or favour while every law must be obeyed.

He said, “I will like to assure you that as you embark on this important voyage of national rebirth and reinvigoration through effective, people-oriented legislation, the judiciary is solidly behind you. Since our role is strictly limited to the interpretation of the laws of the land, we will not leave any stone unturned in that respect. You can rest assured that you already have a good and dependable ally in the Nigerian judiciary.

“We will on our part, as usual, vigorously pursue the observance of the rule of law by all citizens. There is no sacred cow anywhere, as no one is above the law, no matter his or her position in the society.

“Justice must be served without fear or favour. Every law of the land must be obeyed. Let me assure everyone present here that the consequences of disobeying lawful court orders will be too grave to bear. We all should gird our loins to do our constitutionally assigned duties with due diligence so that Nigeria can be the pride of everyone.”

Children sold off since 2014 are re-united with their parents and eight suspects arrested

The Police Command in Kano state has rescued and reunited nine kids with their respective families.

The kids were allegedly kidnapped and sold off to Anambra state for trafficking.

Aged between 2 to 10 years old the children were said to have been kidnapped from various locations within the State capital at different times.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu who handed the kids to their respective families said some of them had gone missing since 2014, but were traced down to Anambra State where they had been sold off.

Eight suspects had been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and trafficking of the children.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, the CP, said the command was alerted about the mysterious nature of disappearance of children from neighbourhood by one Sagir Mohammed Bako.

He said the syndicate ran out of luck when the ring leader one Paul Owne and his wife Mercy Paul were arrested in the process of moving one of their kidnapped victims, Haruna Sagir Bako to Onitsha.

The CP disclosed that, Bako was kidnapped on September 11, 2019, on his way home from Islamiyya School, at Yankaba quarters, of the State capital.

Iliyasu said the suspects’ confession during interrogation led the command to extend its investigation to Anambra state where eight other trafficked children had already been sold.

CP Iliyasu said, ”The suspects confessed to have conspired among themselves and kidnapped various children from areas like Sauna, Kwanar Jaba, Kawo, Hotoro, Yankaba and Dakata quarters, all within the Kano metropolis.”

Among the suspects paraded over the alleged kidnap and trafficking of children were Paul Owne, Mercy Paul, Emmanuel Igwe, Ebere Ogbodo, Louisa Duru and Monica Orachaa.

Responding to questions from reporters, the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping, Paul Owne disclosed that he had realized over N2m as proceeds from the crime. He said he had kidnapped and moved seven children to Anambra state within five years. He said he sold the children to some childless women in the state, adding for each child he earned around N200, 000.

Ebere Ogbodo an alleged buyer said she was introduced to Owne who based in the north by one Emmanuel Igwe. She said Owne told her that his wife works at motherless babies’ home and thus accepts the children from him. She added that she bought the child because she has no child.

The Weeknd only attended Bella Hadid's birthday bash, they are not back as an item

The Weeknd and Bella Hadid hit it off at the model's birthday party, but only as close friends ... TMZ has learned.

Reports surfaced Friday claiming the once inseparable pair were dating again after celebrating Bella's 23rd birthday together in NYC Thursday night. The bash was held at L'Avenue at Saks and Le Chalet and was allegedly attended by celebs like Taylor Swift and Hailee Steinfeld.

It was The Weeknd's attendance to the party that got people talking, the two were seen hanging out the entire night.

However, sources close to the couple tell the website, there's nothing romantic about the rendezvous, the pair are simply good friends now.

It was about two months ago when Bella and The Weeknd called it quits ... sources told TMZ he wanted to take the time to focus on his new projects, including music.

It wouldn't have been the first time the two have split and gotten back together ... but this time, it just ain't so.

Over N1billion Assets Seized From Arrested Maina

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed an application at the court for the forfeiture of 29 additional assets, worth N1.054 billion, traced to Abdulrasheed Maina.

Maina, the fugitive former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), was arrested in an Abuja hotel in September, when he sneaked into the country from his UAE base.

He was picked up with his son, Faisal, who pulled a pistol to prevent his father’s arrest.

Since his arrest, Maina has been undergoing interrogation at the EFCC. Some foreign assets believed to belong to Maina have also been located in the UAE and other jurisdictions.

The government is set to invoke the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) to seize Maina’s choice properties in the UAE.

Sources close to the investigators said other items retrieved from Maina and his son, included about 31 SIM cards of UAE, MTN, 9Mobile and Airtel.

Also, between him and his son, “they were in possession of 19 handsets and each of the handset either has one SIM card or two/ three cards”.

Other items recovered are one iPad and two laptops.

Also recovered are: 13 flash drives and Kentucky U.S. ID card in the name of Maina Abdulrasheed Abdull; a UAE Certificate of Naturalisation for Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina; a UAE ID card in the name of Abdulrasheed Maina.

The rest are a Nigerian passport and a UAE passport for Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina; ATM cards/ cheque books both for Nigerian and UAE banks being used by Maina and charms, including a traditional jacket (top) with charms and in their luggage.”

The source gave an insight into Maina’s offshore investments and assets. He said there is documentary evidence linking Maina to companies in the UAE and Nigeria through his son. The father’s name does not appear in the profile of these companies but the son’s name does.

A luxury and car rental company Northridge Rent A Car in Dubai, have been undercovered a cleaning service firm – Spotless and Flawless International, also in Dubai.

Maina has also admitted the ownership of Ostrich Oil and Gas Company, the source said.

The source added that EFCC detectives have “located many accounts operated by Maina but opened in different names.

“For example, he got the Bank Verification Number (BVN) of his sister, Fatima Abdullahi, and opened an account with it. But it is Maina that is signing the cheque, to withdraw money from the account. The sister was not aware of the existence of the account until Maina was arrested.

“He used the names of many of his relatives to open accounts between 2014 and 2017. In some accounts operated by one of his suspected firms, there were deposits of about N183 million and $323, 396 between 2014 and 2017.

According to sources, the list of the properties was discovered during the search on one of his relatives in possession of the titles.

The source said: “Maina has filled the asset declaration form and he did not declare these properties which he brought in different names.

“Our investigations showed that many of these properties were paid for in cash. For instance, he paid N100 million for a property on 16A Katuru Road, Kaduna.

“EFCC detectives succeeded in linking the assets to Maina from the Deeds of Sale and other documents. We were able to compute the cost of 29 properties at over N1billion.

”With his denial of ownership of these assets, we have already filed an application in a High Court for their forfeiture to the Federal Government,” the source said.

Sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13(1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004 empower the anti-graft agency to invoke Interim Assets Forfeiture Clause.

Section 28 of the EFCC Act reads: “Where a person is arrested for an offence under this Act, the Commission shall immediately trace and attach all the assets and properties of the person acquired as a result of such economic or financial crime and shall thereafter cause to be obtained an interim attachment order from the court.

Section 13 of the Federal High Court Act reads in part: “The court may grant an injunction or appoint a receiver by an interlocutory order in all cases in which it appears to the court to be just or convenient so to do.

“Any such order may be made either unconditionally or on such terms and conditions as the Court thinks just.”

Besides the 29 assets newly discovered, on December 9, 2017, the Acting EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Magu, said seven properties had been seized from Maina.

The properties are a two-storey commercial building located on Ibrahim Taiwo Road, a bungalow located on Katuru Road and four separate properties located on Kano Road in Kawo New Extension, all in Kaduna. The other property which is still under construction is a set of four one-storey block of flats located at No. 5, Sokoto Road adjacent to the Zamfara State Governor’s Lodge, Kaduna.

Other properties linked to Maina include No. 12, 11th Road, Kado Estate, Abuja; No. A5 Omenai H.O (B Close) Kado Estate; No. 9, Eneli TCM Close, (A Close) Kado Estate; No. 8, Kolo S Close (A Close) Kado Estate; Luxury apartments (eight blocks of flats; six units of three bedrooms; two units of two bedrooms) located at Plot 965, Cadastral C2, Life Camp, Abuja and a sprawling edifice located at No. 10 Hamisu Musa Road, Jabi, Abuja.

He said: “Maina had a total inflow of over N2.7 billion between 2010 and 2013, with 95 per cent of the deposits being in cash. It was discovered that Faizal Abdullahi’s Account (his son), had a turnover of over N1.5 billion in less than a year.”

2Face and Faze Reunite, Perform Together In Abuja

2Face and former group mate Faze linked up at a concert in Abuja and it was an electrifying moment.

She passed on in her sleep, Charly Boy reveals how his mom died

Charly Boy lost his mom at 102 on Tuesday but announced her passing away on Thursday. The singer has now explained how she died, saying she died in her sleep and in his home.

He also revealed he was out of the country when his mom passed on, but his wife, daughter and granddaughter were all with her. Though his mom had requested a quiet burial, Charly says, he will be givig her a carnival instead.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, he said, “My mother died at 102. I had been out of the country. I spoke with her three days ago before her demise, but we thank God. Her death is a celebration because she lived to a ripe old age. She died in my house— my wife, daughter and granddaughter were all there.”

Area Fada noted that he would miss the special moments he spent with his mother. “I’ll miss our chats and videos— my mom was a very hip hop person. She always wanted to know about what people were saying about our videos. She also liked to talk about our old times and my rascally ways, among several other things. Sometimes, choristers would come to the house to serenade her. And I often took her to watch comedy shows in Abuja. She was the go-to person for me. It’s not easy to give birth to someone like Charly Boy. She was really a great woman, and we had very loving moments. I can say she died happily. She passed on in her sleep and certainly lived a good life,” he said.

The 68-year-old grandfather also revealed that his mother’s wish was to have a very simple and quiet burial ceremony. However, he said his personality would not allow him to grant her request. He stated, “For the burial, my mum said she wanted a very simple ceremony. She said I should keep it peaceful, but Charly Boy does not do simple things. She lived a good life and did all that she wanted to do. My love for humanity and humility came from her. The burial will be in December because I need to hustle. It’s going to be a big celebration and carnival.”

Mixed reactions as mom allows daughter smoke weed to help her pass her GCSE exams

A mum says she let her daughter smoke marijuana before her GCSEs - because it 'helps her imagination'.

In an online post, the mum explained her teen would smoke a "tiny bit of weed" before school as it helped her relax, the Stoke on Trent Live reports.

She also claims her daughter told her it gives her more "imagination for her essays."

While some criticised the Stoke-on-Trent mum and accused her of being a 'bad mother', others commenting on the Facebook post defended her stance of letting her children make their own choices in life.

In the post, the unnamed mum wrote: "When I asked her why she was doing it right before her English Language exam, she said 'it gives me more imagination when I’m writing essays I have to make up'.

"My daughter chose to smoke it. She doesn’t touch it anymore. She just used it as a relaxant to get her through her GSCEs and she did really well with her results.

"It’s up to her to learn from her own choices in life. If I’d have banned her from smoking it every now and then, she would have only done it behind my back as every teenager would do.

"I’ve always had a be open and honest approach with my daughter and it’s worked well.

"She hides no secrets from me and her friends, male and female see me as a surrogate mum and talk to me about their issues and problems. I can’t see that as bad parenting.

"On the plus side my daughter smoking a tiny amount of weed every now and again, also means that the chances of her getting cancer have probably halved already.

"Doing drugs is a no-no but taking a couple of drags of weed when weed itself isn’t chemically manufactured, and is a plant, is not particularly a big deal.

"Weed is a cure for cancer and helps with various other ailments such as arthritis , dementia, Parkinson’s disease, MS, and lots of others."

Some parents were gob-smacked by her laid back approach to her daughter using illegal drugs.

One woman replied: "So you found it OK for your child to smoke drugs when taking there GCSEs. WOW!!! Shame on you. You're supposed to be the parent."

And another added: "You have the right to bring your child or children up how you see fit. But to let them think it's OK to do drugs, sorry, but for me as a mum-of-three that's a big no-no.

"I'm very strict with my kids and they would never ever keep anything from me. Why? Because they know I will find out and when I do then there is consequence and they lose everything."

Others praised the woman's approach to bringing up her children though.

One mum said: "This woman is right, if you ban and hide things from kids, they will find a way to do it regardless.

"I was allowed to do whatever I wanted to as a kid to some respect, now I don't touch any alcohol or drugs.

"I've tried weed and alcohol, neither of which I have ever experienced a need to have."

And another StokeonTrentLive reader said: "Go you!!! I think you sound like a great mum. My mum was just like you and we have a great relationship.

Scientist transitions into a robot so he can live forever

A terminally-ill scientist who is dying from a muscle wasting disease has taken the final steps to become the world's first full cyborg .

Dr Peter Scott-Morgan, 61, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease two years ago, but instead of accepting his fate he decided to challenge what it meant to be human.

He said he wanted to push the boundaries of what science can achieve so decided to extend his life and become fully robotic - known as Peter 2.0.

The world-renowned roboticist has already undergone a series of incredibly complex and risky operations during his journey. This has included developing a remarkably life-like avatar of his face before he lost any muscle.

The avatar is designed to respond using artificially intelligent body language and he has also explored eye-tracking technology to enable him to control multiple computers using only his eyes.

And this week he announced the final procedure in his transition into a robot where he traded his voice for potentially decades of life.

He underwent a laryngectomy, meaning he lost his physical voice, but in doing so, he will avoid the added danger of saliva potentially entering his lungs, due to his condition.

Dr Scott-Morgan labelled this final procedure as the end of Peter 1.0 with a post this week on Twitter, and wrote: "This is my last post as Peter 1.0.

"Tomorrow (Thursday 10/10) I trade my voice for potentially decades of life as we complete the final medical procedure for my transition to Full Cyborg, the month I was told statistically I would be dead. I'm not dying, I'm transforming. Oh, how I love science."

British university orders every student home from Egypt after two are arrested

The University of Edinburgh has told students on a year abroad in Egypt to return home, after two of their students were arrested in the country.

Two of the Edinburgh university's third-year students were detained by Egyptian authorities in Cairo.

Both were released but the reason for their arrests has still not been confirmed, according to student newspaper The Tab.

The University of Edinburgh said it's students studying in Egypt have now arrived safely back in the UK, or 'are in the process of leaving'.

A spokesman for the university said: "Two of our students in Egypt were recently detained and subsequently released by the Egyptian authorities in Cairo.

"The university is obviously very concerned when it hears of incidents such as this, particularly when they involve our own students.

"We have a responsibility to act in the best interests of our students and to take decisive action when there are concerns for safety and wellbeing.

"We therefore required all of our students in Egypt to return to the UK.

"All students have now done so or are in the process of leaving.

"We are working closely with the students to minimise the impact of any disruption to their studies and to provide alternative placements."

PDP To Sagay: Tell Buhari The Truth, Corruption Resides In His Presidency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says President Muhammadu Buhari should leave the 8th National Assembly out of his failures to tame his fraudulent officials and curb the humongous corruption festering in his Presidency.

The party said the Chairman of Presidential Advisory Committee on Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay, at his age and status, ought to be bold enough to tell President Buhari that corruption resides in the Presidential Villa and that a President who surrounds himself with corrupt persons as ministers, special advisers and confidants cannot fight corruption.

The PDP tasks Prof. Sagay to clear his conscience by using his position to ask President Buhari to answer Nigerians on the alleged siphoning of N9 trillion oil money through shady contracts, under his watch, as detailed in the leaked NNPC memo.

The party further advised that Prof. Sagay could take a face-saving measure by demanding an investigation into the alleged corruption in the handling of the N1.4 trillion oil subsidy involving the cabal in the Presidency and certain All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, in addition to the reported stealing of over N1.1 trillion worth of crude under Mr. President’s watch.

It is strange to many Nigerians that Prof. Sagay, as the Chairman of the anti-corruption committee, could not summon the boldness to ask President Buhari to order an investigation into allegations by the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, that the N500bn meant for Social Investment Program was diverted to private purses.

Furthermore, Prof. Sagay and President Buhari had been mute over the recent arrest of President Buhari’s confidant, Nasir Banu in the United Kingdom for alleged passport scam and money laundering, while allegedly ferrying stolen money to persons said to be close to the Buhari Presidency.

Also, Prof. Sagay is yet to speak out on the recent arrest of a scammer, Abdulrauf Illyasu, who operates from within the Presidential Villa, and never said anything about the arrest of former aide to the First Lady as well as one Amina Mohammed, who openly confessed fronting for persons close to the President for serial fraud, contract scams and looting of public resources.

These and many more are corruption issues, which fall directly on the shoulders of the Buhari Presidency for which Nigerians expected Prof. Sagay and his committee to address.

Prof. Sagay should therefore leave the former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki and then House of Representatives Speaker, Hon Yakubu Dogara, alone and accept the fact that the Buhari Presidency cannot fight corruption because it swims in ocean of corruption.

If anything, Nigerians are still aware of how the 8th National Assembly exposed corruption in the Buhari administration including issues of budget padding, alleged diversion of funds meant for the Internally Displaced Persons and stealing in revenue generating agencies.
