Sequel to several kidnappings along the highways in Edo and Delta states and confessions by several kidnappers arrested earlier, who confessed that one Iliyasu Ahmadu is their gang leader, on the instructions of IGP Adamu Mohammed serious manhunt was launched by IRT towards the arrest of the kidnap kingpin.
After weeks of unrelenting follow up, the kidnap gang leader 29yrs old Iliyasu Ahmadu, a native of Kafio LGA of Nasarawa but born and raises in Edo was arrested in Edo State by IRT.
Ahmadu confessed to several kidnappings and killings in Edo and Delta states.
He also led IRT detectives to a forest in Delta State where 2 AK47 rifles with S/Nos:6855 and 27534 (Ak49) he buried in the forest were recovered.
He further revealed several arms dealers in Onitsha who sold many Ak47 rifles And ammunitions to his gang and many other kidnappers. Immediate follow up by IRT operatives led to the arrest of one of the arms dealers identified as Chidi Okebunor, 28yrs, who is a native of Ogwashi Aniochi South LGA of Delta State who sells rifles and ammunitions to the kidnappers.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the National Assembly to sanitize the Presidential Villa by probing allegations of illegal allotment of offices and apartments to unauthorised persons, “including scammers and corruption fronts” in Aso Rock.
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, demanded the National Assembly to investigate the alleged abuse of office by President Muhammadu Buhari and apply appropriate sanctions following the alleged revelation that he assigned official facilities in the villa to unauthorized persons that have no official roles in governance.
The party described what it termed the dirty public fight between the First Lady, Aisha Buhari and President Buhari’s cousins, over rooms in the villa as disgraceful. It said the feud uncovered the alleged impunity, disorderliness and vanity that pervaded the presidency, adding that the presidential villa had been turned into a house of comedy and an overcrowded quarters for illegal occupants.
“Nigerians can now see why it has become difficult for our nation to witness any stability or progress under the Buhari Presidency and why the Buhari-led federal government has been bedevilled by confusion, infighting, policy flip-flops, statutory violations, promotion of violence, ingrained corruption and administrative indolence while millions of Nigerians wallow in poverty and neglect,” the PDP said.

A Presidency source on Monday faulted the recent release of a video by Mamman Daura’s daughter, Fatima where the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari was ranting in a room.
The video, released in the wake of the rumour claiming President Muhammadu Buhari was going to take a second wife last Friday, had shown part of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari’s body while shouting on the need for the Dauras to leave an accommodation in the Villa.
A source, who does not want her name in prints, said the
video was shot over a year ago when the President’s son, Yusuf, had power bike accident in Abuja.
According to her, the accommodation was needed for the then recuperating Yusuf. The order for the Dauras to vacate the Villa accommodation, she said, was approved by the President
She said: “By now the airwaves are awash with Fatima Mamman Daura’s daughter consenting to the fact that she indeed shot and leaked the now infamous video clip which showed the wife of the President in a very angry mood.
“The incident happened over a year ago when the wife of the President on the instructions of the President asked the Dauras to vacate their living quarters inside the villa for a sick Yussuf Buhari, who was recuperating after an accident.
“For this reason, the quarters were needed and the Dauras were asked to move to another part of the Villa. Long before the accident, Yusuf’s mother had requested in writing for the Dauras to vacate the place because the building is officially designated for the biological children of any serving President.
“The IG of police, DG DSS, NSA and the Vice President who was the acting President, were all notified of this request. Despite this, the Dauras deliberately refused to comply with the instructions of the security agencies.
“What really was the intent for the video being released now if not for mischief Fatima didn’t showcase her part in the drama where the door was locked against the first lady to deny her access to some areas of the villa, neither did she acknowledge the abuse she first vented before the First Lady reacted under the instruction of DG Lawal Daura, who was brought into government by Mamman Daura,” she stated.
Mamman Daura's daughter Fatima said something different in her interview. She said they were on the verge of parking when Aisha Buhari broke the door and almost hit her sister.

The embattled former chairman of the Pension Reforms Task Team, Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina “has started speaking up on how he spent the N24 billion."
A top EFCC official conversant with the matter told Vanguard that Maina had started speaking up on how he spent the N24 billion, which the federal government handed over to him in ten commercial banks to use and pay off millions of its retirees.
But in a twist that rattles the government and those who brought Maina to the top job, the team under him merely embarked on globe-trotting, sharing the cash with top government officials, under the guise of going round the world to verify the biometric of Nigerian workers.
According to documents at the disposal of the EFCC, which Maina signed off as approved expenditures and receipts for overseas and local trips by the Pension Reforms Task Team, no fewer than 200 top federal government officials were captured as ‘beneficiaries’ of travelling allowances for trips they did not embark on.
According to the documents, which the embattled official wants to rely on as his evidence of utilizing the huge cash of N24 billion released in 2011 to his team, a former Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, a Permanent Secretary in the Presidency, a controversial Head of Service of the Federation, Director of Budget of the Federation, two ex-chairmen of the EFCC and ICPC and hordes of officials have been listed along with their bank details and the amount collected by each for phantom biometric trips.
It was learned that Maina was ready to defend the expenditure by calling some or most of the beneficiaries as his witnesses although he has reportedly denied many of the payments and ownership of most of the houses traced to him.
It was learnt that many of the top government officials who are listed as beneficiaries were aware that Maina’s team had been making payments into their accounts even though they did not make the purported trips. It did not also summon the courage to reject and return the millions paid into their accounts by the PRTT.
It was gathered that most of them had since left public service might still be summoned to account for the public funds.
In a similar development, Maina’s son has been reportedly handed over to the Nigeria Police Force to prosecute over illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, Vanguard learnt.
The DSS in its report while transferring father and son to the EFCC last week, accused Faisal of pulling a gun against its operatives and threatening to shoot them.
The service listed items it arrested the father and son with to include: a pistol with live ammunition, bulletproof Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle, foreign currencies and seven drones.
Vanguard gathered that the police would press charges against junior Maina, who was actually caught with the pistol firearms unless he produces appropriate licenses to operate same in Nigeria.
A source confirmed to Vanguard the 20-year-old student in the American University of Dubai had been transferred to the police, leaving his embattled father alone with EFCC operatives.

The Police on Monday discovered another torture centre meant to be a reformation place for children with character deformation in Daura, Katsina state.
Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari is a native of Daura. According to reports, the Police raided the centre following a riot by the inmates over excessive abuses.
The centre is being operated by Malam Bello in Daura town and had been in existence for decades.
Last month, a similar centre with over 400 inmates was discovered in Kaduna state. Many of them say they were been tortured and molested, all in the name of reformation.

The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a water tanker driver, Taofeek Oyeweso, who has gone into hiding after he allegedly crushed an engineer, Afees Tijani, while on the way to deliver water to a company in the state.
Punch Metro gathered that Tijani was riding his power bike to Ibadan when Oyeweso, who was driving against the traffic, rammed him less than a kilometre to the Sat Guru Maharajji camp end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to eyewitnesses, Oyeweso refused to wait after the crash, but while trying to escape, the tanker, with number plate BDJ 01 YC, ran into a ditch and got stuck.
Tijani’s friend, Jeremiah Osho, who witnessed the accident, said Oyeweso abandoned the tanker and absconded, adding that the unconscious engineer was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, where he was placed on life support machine.
Osho stated, “I was driving from Abeokuta to Ibadan but met Tijani at Saapade , he was riding his power bike to Ibadan when I saw him. So, we stopped at the bridge and greeted, and later embarked on our journeys. After about 15 minutes’ drive, I saw that the vehicle moving ahead of us suddenly swerved to the left when Tijani wanted to overtake it, so he swerved to the right, but in the process, one of the three water tankers driving against the traffic ran into him.
“I quickly reversed and got out of my car to rescue my friend but he was almost dead when I found him by the roadside. His left leg was shattered and he was having seizures, so, I removed his helmet and shirt and started fanning to sustain him. I called the Sector Commander, FRSC, and she sent a rescue team; a passer-by also helped in informing the police officers at the Ibadan tollgate.
“We traced the water tanker that hit him to a company it went to deliver water to, but when we got there, we were told that Oyeweso drove out immediately he delivered the water. We followed the direction he took and found the truck stuck in a ditch, but the driver was nowhere to be found.”
Tijani’s elder brother, Ishaq, said doctors had been battling to save the life of the father of three, adding that his left leg had been amputated.
When contacted, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Gbenga Fadeyi, said a manhunt had been launched for Oyeweso.
Fadeyi stated, “Concerted efforts are being made to arrest the driver, who has gone into hiding. But the owner of the tanker is working with the police to make sure that the driver is arrested.
“He drove against the traffic and the victim was knocked down; the police have been going to the UCH to check on the victim, whose leg was amputated due to the injury he sustained. We are still looking for Oyeweso and we will soon get him.”
The people of Itapaji Ekiti in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, on Monday, rolled out the drums to celebrate the completion of the town’s civic centre, which construction commenced in 1968.
Led by their traditional ruler, the Olu of Itapaji, Oba Azeez Adebanjo, the people danced enthusiastically to mark the completion and inauguration of the project.
The spokesperson for the community, Chief Michael Ogundana, explained that the foundation stone of the project was laid in 1968 and had been stalled since then, adding that the community made representations to Governor Kayode Fayemi on the need to complete it.
Ogundana, who spoke during the inauguration of the civic centre as part of activities marking the first anniversary of the Fayemi administration, thanked the governor, whom he said “graciously approved funds through the Ekiti State Community and Social Development Agency for the completion of the project.”
The community leader urged the government to also construct the Itapaji-Omu Road and a police post to boost security in the area.
The Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, who represented the governor, said, “Your spokesman had earlier said that this project started in 1968, more than 50 years ago, but Governor Fayemi provided the funds to complete it.
“That is what Governor Fayemi represents, development. The governor is passionate about development in all our communities and that is why we are inaugurating projects all over the state to mark our first anniversary in office.”
Egbeyemi said the government would look into the other demands of the community, adding, “Between November and December, road projects will commence in earnest, including rural roads, with the funds provided by the World Bank.
“Concerning the bridges destroyed by flood, they are receiving our attention and work will begin on them very soon. The governor needs your support, because he has the interest of Ekiti and its people at heart.”
