Here's a unique concept of an excited Nigerian man calling his wife-to-be who hawks in the market as he tries to patronize her in their pre-wedding photoshoot. Another pic...

Unemployment Now A Serious Problem In Nigeria

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) says Nigeria’s unemployment rate has been increasing since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015.

The group said this in a report that reviewed the economic agenda of the Buhari administration.

The report titled: “An assessment of the effectiveness of government policies and programmes on economic growth and development, 2016-2019”, examined the effectiveness of policies and programmes that have been implemented by Buhari.

CDD said some government actions and policies have generated employment, “but at a slower rate than the increase in the workforce,” adding that “unemployment has, therefore, been increasing.”

“Though youth and graduate employment have recently diminished slightly, they are still unacceptably high,” the report read.

It said the various employment generation schemes introduced by the federal government have to be considerably up-scaled” for them to have a significant impact.

“More importantly, Commercial banks have to be incentivised to substantially increase their lending to the private sector, particularly agricultural production and processing and MSMEs,” it said.

ECONOMIC GROWTH BELOW EXPECTATIONS, POWER SECTOR FACING CHALLENGES

CDD also said though Nigeria’s economic growth has been “turning positive,” it has been “lower than stated targets.”

“This is partly due to slow or uneven growth of critical sectors such as crude oil, agriculture, manufacturing and power,” it said.

It urged renewed efforts to expand the tax base, “partly through more vigorous enforcement and partly through the incorporation of MSMEs and the informal sector into the tax net.”

The group said while the government’s economic recovery and growth plan provided the context for the government’s economic development policies and programmes, its targets have been overtaken by developments.

“Most of the macro-economic targets in the Plan and the budgets have been under-achieved,” the group said, adding: “The greatest challenge that has inhibited the achievement of the goals is the revenue constraint.

On the power sector, the group said the privatisation of that sector has led to an institutional arrangement faced with the challenges of preventing delivery on the speed and scale Nigeria needs to push needed development.

“In the short term, the distribution companies must be incentivised to consolidate, using an obligatory minimum capital requirement, as was done with the banking sector earlier,” it said.

“Only in this way can they develop the capital investments needed to buy adequate power from the expanding capacity of the GENCOs and TCN and distribute and efficiently collect sales revenues.”

Taxi Driver Nabbed For 'Kidnapping' Three Kids From Bishop Oyedepo's School

As shared on social media by Augustine...
"Touch Not the Anointed “KINGDOM HERITAGE CHILDREN” are Super Protected by God of LIVING FAITH CHURCH and the Spirit of our Father Dr. David Oyedebo.
Before us this afternoon at D/Line PHC a cab man adopted 3 school children from a woman that was about taking his cad on a drop after school, she put the children in the cab and just tuned to enter the cab, this fool drove off with the Children to an unknown destination for his selfishness purpose.

The God of Living Faith took over the search of the Children, few hours later this same foolish cab man drove to same point where the frustrated mother was still crying and praying to God.

Probably with the mind that nobody took notice of him or nobody recognized him.
But as God would have it, on sighting his face and the color of the cab, she recognized him and raised alarm, we all ran out and accosted the man, after much interogation he accepted that the 3 children are locked up in his house.

What is this WORLD TUNING TO?
What would have been the fate of this innocent children?
This goes on to justify the saying thus. "Everyday for the thief,
One day for the owner"
This man's cup was full today, he adopted the wrong children by torching God's children.

NOTE: Bad people are everywhere and we can't be careful enough but we should always pray and anoint ourselves and our children everyday before leaving the house."

Kogi Deputy Governor Dismisses His "Impeachment"; says 'I Remain Deputy Governor'

Mr Simon Achuba has insisted that he is the Deputy Governor of Kogi State. He stated this in a telephone interview with Channels Television on Friday, shortly after he was impeached by members of the State House of Assembly.

“What they have done is nothing. I am the deputy governor of Kogi State and I remain the deputy governor of Kogi State,” Achuba said while condemning the action of the lawmakers.

Earlier, the House in a unanimous decision impeached the embattled former deputy governor following the submission of a report of the committee set up by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajana, to investigate an allegation of gross misconduct against him.

Majority Leader of the House and member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Mr Hassan Abdullahi, had told reporters that the Speaker, Mr Mathew Kolawole, received the committee’s report which was studied and deliberated upon before the lawmakers took the decision.

A Complete Illegality?
Moments later, Mr Achuba stressed that his impeachment by the lawmakers was illegal, saying they didn’t follow the due process involved. He said, “Impeachment has processes and the last process of impeachment is the verdict of the panel.

“If the panel says the case of the complainant is proved, it means that the accused which is the respondent in the case can be removed. But if their case is not proved, they can’t do anything concerning my office and that is the situation.”

According to Mr Achuba, the report before the Assembly stated that the case brought against him was not proved.

He explained that he did what was expected of him and presented himself before members of the seven-man panel set up by the Chief Judge in the state.

“So, what you have seen is the continuation of the illegality that I have complained about loudly. I will get a copy of the report in no time to prove to you that what they have done is complete illegality,” Achuba said.

Sunny Nneji reveals he was introduced to his wife

Sunny Nneji has revealed he was introduced to his wife and it was love at first sight. He made the revelation in a chat with Saturday Beats saying, she was working at one of the biggest banks in the country when they were introduced to each other and within a year, they dated, and got married.

Read more below...

How did you meet your wife?

I met her at her place of work. She was working at one of the big banks in the country at the time. That was the bank I was using. Someone introduced us to each other and from there; things proceeded too fast and quickly. Before that time, marriage was the last thing on my mind. But immediately I met her, I began to consider marriage quickly and at a fast speed. That was one of the shortest courtships I ever had.

How long were you in courtship?

Everything took place within a year. From courtship to marriage, it took place within a year.

What attributes attracted you in her?

Every man wants to marry a good lady, someone who can be a good mother to the children because you are thinking of the family. Everybody wants to marry someone who is a friend and confidant, reliable and trustworthy. Everybody wants to marry someone who is a pillar, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. These were the things I saw in her that made me say that I would marry her.

Did you have a dramatic proposal?

No, my proposal was more like a joke. Immediately we were introduced, I asked her if she would marry me.

Is it true that ‘Oruka ti Dowo Na’ song is for your wife?

When we got married, I had not recorded ‘Oruka ti Dowo Na’ but that was what inspired it. I was wondering how come we don’t have a wedding song. The more I thought how about it, the more the inspiration came and that was what gave birth to the song.

What lessons have you learnt from the marriage?

Marriage is a journey; it’s a long road of trials, love, affection, happiness and challenges. But it is an interesting road that everybody who is on the line of marriage will thread.

I believe if you do not walk this road, you might at the end of the day have this sense of ‘unfulfillment’ This is my opinion. It is one of the things you need to go through in life and say yes you did and you gave it your best shot. What I have learnt is that in marriage you have to be patient and considerate. Look at things not just from your perspective but from your partner’s as well. Do not hold a grudge, learn to let go. If you have a slight disagreement, try to settle it immediately

Do not let it degenerate, address it and don’t start referring to it in future. It is also a decision on the part of the two parties to make it work, accept that this is your partner and go through life together.

Did you have an elaborate or quiet wedding?

My wedding was a quiet one, only a few people were there. The chairman of my wedding was Chief Segun Odegbami, the MC was my friend; Ali Baba and another friend played at the wedding. It was a small wedding held at Ikeja.

What is your advice to singles trying to marry?

If you want to marry, I think the right thing is for you to be sincere and true about it. If you both are true and sincere, then you won’t have a problem. Ask yourself; why do you want to marry this person, do you like this person enough to want to be married to the person. Be truthful and sincere about it.’

Only $323.7m Left In Excess Crude Account Under Buhari

The Federation Account Allocation Committee has disclosed that the current balance in Nigeria’s Excess Crude Account (ECA) stands at $323.692 million as of Thursday, October 17, 2019.

The ECA, which was created by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004 for the purpose of saving oil revenue in excess of the budgeted benchmark, had once reached a peak of $20 billion in 2009, but has since recorded decline due to government’s inability to effectively generate revenue from non-oil sector to fund its expenditures.

In a statement issued by the FAAC, which is headed by the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris, it was also revealed that a total of N693.529 billion was shared across the federal, thirty-six states and 774 local governments in Nigeria for the month of September 2019.

The money comprises revenue from VAT, Exchange Gain, and Gross Statutory Revenue.

A communique issued by FAAC confirmed that from the total revenue of N693.529 billion, the Federal Government received N293.801 billion, the states received N186.816 billion, while the Local Government Councils received N140.864 billion.

On their parts, the oil-producing states received N51.532 billion as 13 per cent derivation revenue and the revenue-generating agencies received N20.517 billion as cost of revenue collection.

The gross statutory revenue for September was N599.701 billion, N32.095 billion lesser than the sum of N631.796 billion received in the previous month.

The gross revenue of N92.874 billion in September was available from the Value Added Tax as against N88.082 billion distributed in the preceding month, resulting in an increase of N4.792 billion.

It was also noted that the exchange gain yielded a total revenue of N0.954 billion.

Looking at a break-down of the distribution, it showed that from the gross statutory revenue of N599.701 billion, the Federal Government received N279.985 billion, the states received N142.012 billion, while the Local Government Councils received N109.485 billion.

Also, the oil-producing states received N51.417 billion as 13 percent derivation revenue and the revenue collecting agencies received N16.802 billion as cost of collection.

“The N92.874 billion gotten from Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue was shared accordingly in which the Federal Government received N13.374billion, the states received N44.580 billion, and Local Government Councils received N31.206 billion and the revenue-generating agencies received N3.715 billion,” the statement added.

However, it was revealed that in September, revenue from Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Company Income Tax (CIT) dropped while royalties, import and excise duties, and VAT increased considerably.

Why I went back to school – Baba Ijesha

Popular actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has opened up on why he returned to school to get more education.

According to him, he didn’t take a break from acting but decided to concentrate on his studies. The actor said, “I am back in school, studying Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos. I didn’t want to be acting and schooling at the same time, because acting requires a lot of attention. However, I didn’t take a break from acting. I have been careful about the kind of movies I appear in. These days, I read comments online from fans complaining about the quality of our movies.

Being educated is the best investment one can make in life. Though education is not necessarily thkey to wealth, it is needed to be respected in our society. Education didn’t make me successful; my talent did. I went back to school to be able to enlighten myself and step up my game. I am in part four currently and it’s a five-year course.”

Border closure: No country is targeted, Nigerian Government replies Ghana

The Nigerian Government says there is no ulterior motive in its decision to close the nation’s borders.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, stated this during a meeting with two Ghanaian ministers on Thursday in Abuja.

He told Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration, Shirley Botchwey, and the country’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, that no country was targeted in the border closure.

According to the minister, Nigeria, as a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), respects the rules of the regional body.

He gave assurance that free movement of persons and goods would continue, stressing that the border closure was targeted at criminal activities and not countries.

Onyeama also informed the Ghanaian ministers that the Nigerian government would ensure that issues raised by their country would be looked into and addressed as soon as possible.

Read the tweets by the minister below:

''Met with H.E. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration and H.E. @Alankyerematen, Ghanaian Minister of Trade and Industry. I assured that after the meeting between the Ministers and relevant stakeholders, the challenge of ease of trade…''

''…not countries. So, in addressing a particular country’s issues, it would not be a disadvantage to another country because for us, it is a measure to address a particular issue. #BorderClosure 🇳🇬🇬🇭 @NigeriaGov @DigiCommsNG @GhanaMFA @ecowas_cedeao''.

Ambode Saga: Two Former Commissioners Opens Up

Former Lagos commissioners, Mr Olusegun Banjo (Economic Planning and Budget) and Mr Olawale Oluwo (Energy and Mineral Resources), have denied indicting ex-governor Akinwunmi Ambode before an ad hoc committee of the state House of Assembly.

The men on Thursday refuted reports that they incriminated their former boss in the statements they made to the committee of the house of assembly.

They insisted that Lagos Accountant-General, Mrs Shukrat Umar, buttressed their claims
when she told the committee on Wednesday that the State Executive Council approved the budget for the purchase of 820 vehicles for the state.

The Assembly had claimed that Ambode did not get approval for the purchase of the buses and subsequently set up a probe committee.

The committee had summoned the former commissioners and some other government officials to make statements on the project.

Banjo and Oluwo were reported to have indicted Ambode when they appeared before the committee.

But the former commissioners in separate statements said the reports were a misrepresentation of what transpired at the proceedings of the committee.

Banjo said he told the lawmakers that he was appointed in February 2018 when the issue of bus purchase had already been on the ground.

He pointed out that the issue was not contained in the budget he managed, though it could have been in earlier budgets.

Oluwo acknowledged that he attended the second session of the committee on October 15 alongside a former Commissioner for Agriculture, Toyin Suara.

For the avoidance of doubt, I reiterate that I did not and could never have indicted Akinwunmi Ambode. I am a committed democrat, a loyal team player and a strong believer in the principle of collective responsibility,” he said.

Man Sues His In-laws For Giving Him Pregnant Daughter

A 35 -year-old man, Ibrahim Adamu has dragged both his parents-in-law before the Magajin Gari Shari’a Court in Kaduna, accusing them of foisting their pregnant daughter on him in marriage.

The defendants are Sani Dogon-Zikiri, his father-in-law and Laura Sani, his mother-in-law, both accused of deceit and breach of trust.

The plaintiff, who resides at Rijjana village, told the court through his counsel, Mr. Hussaini Yakubu, that the defendants had deceitfully gotten their daughter married to him knowing she was already pregnant.

The plaintiff also accused his wife, Nafisa Sani of allegedly conniving with her parents to deceive him.

“The complainant and his wife had conducted a pregnancy test shortly after marriage which confirmed that she was two weeks pregnant before the wedding. He then asked his wife about the pregnancy and she confirmed that the pregnancy wasn’t his”, the counsel to the plaintiff’ told the court.

The counsel prayed the court to compel the defendants to pay his client the sum of N100,000 as compensation for deception.

The defendants, through their lawyer, Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, denied the allegations. Suleiman argued that the plaintiff ought to have raised alarm the very moment he discovered his wife’s alleged pregnancy rather than wait until the baby was born.

Man Caught With Pretty Lady's Severed Head (Photos)

This is tragic. A graphic clip circulating online shows the moment a man was caught with a woman's head in a polythene bag. The man was forced to remove the content of the bag, and to the surprise of those who forced him, it was a lady's severed head he was carrying.

Photos purportedly showing the woman who was beheaded have also been shared online. It shows her wearing the same hairstyle seen on the severed head.

Here's rapper Ruggedman's reaction to the incident;
Just saw a video of a young man with the head of a girl in a nylon bag.
I weep for this country.
He should be killed in a public firing Squad for all to see.
You just killed another mans daughter because you want to be rich.
My God
