Pictured! Evil rapist bags life imprisonment, threatens to attack survivor

A man described as an “evil rapist” has been handed life imprisonment after he was convicted of attacking two women.

At his conviction, he threatened to murder one of the survivors of his violent acts.

Fifty-five-year-old Andrew Delsol was described by a judge as “vicious and self-obsessed,” and had been found guilty of 11 counts of physical and sexual violence against two women between 1985 and 2001.

According to Yahoo News, during the trial at Bradford Crown Court, the first woman told how she was beaten and raped by Delsol in Bradford when she was a teenager.

“His attacks on her included punching and kicking her, trying to drown her in the bath and indecently assaulting her with a carpet cleaner pole,” the court heard.

The court heard that Delsol battered the second woman round the head with a hairbrush and plunged a screwdriver into her leg, as well as pouring petrol on her before flicking a lighter and threatening to kill her.

The woman, who admitted she was smitten with Delsol, said he would assault her in the woods where no one could hear her screaming and attacks included holding her underwater in a lake, threatening her with an axe, picking her up by the hair and punching her on the side of the head.

She said: “He just battered me black and blue every day. He needs putting away for life. He’ll carry on hurting people. He was handsome and beautiful… but he was evil.”

The 55-year-old is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence imposed in 2015 for terrorising a young mother he locked in an attic flat over a four-month period.

Another two-storey building collapses in Lagos

Another two-storey building collapsed at Ojuelegba area of Lagos on Thursday evening, 12 days after the collapse of a three-storey building at Magodo Phase 1 in the state.

The incident occurred at about 8:55pm at No 7, Rufai Street, Ojuelegba. No life was lost.

Some of the residents said that virtually all the inhabitants had vacated the building before the crash but still had some of their belonging inside the building.

According to the tenants, the building actually started collapsing gradually since Oct. 18.

Mr Emeka Anozie, one of the residents, said that when a window from the back flat collapsed around 7 p.m, he alerted all the remaining tenants who were busy removing their belongings to come out, adding that the entire building collapsed few minutes later.

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) had on March 25, 2019 marked the building and warned the residents and the landlord to vacate the premises and also served another notice on the landlord on May 21.

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said he immediately mobilised his team and other safety agencies to ensure protection of lives and properties in the area.

Johannesburg mayor, Mashaba resigns in race row

The mayor of South Africa’s biggest city Johannesburg has resigned, saying he was stepping down from the main opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) over the party’s approach to racial inequality.

When Herman Mashaba was elected in 2016, he became the city’s first mayor not from the ruling African National Congress (ANC) since apartheid ended in 1994.

The 60-year-old millionaire, who made his fortune in black hair products, was one of the most senior politicians in the pro-business DA, long considered a party for middle-class white people.

But on Monday he quit the DA, which means he can no longer serve as mayor.

“I cannot reconcile myself with a group of people who believe that race is irrelevant in the discussion of inequality and poverty in South Africa,” Mashaba told a press conference in Johannesburg.

He said his decision was sparked by the election of former DA leader Helen Zille as the party’s federal council chairperson at the weekend.

Oyo Assembly passes anti-open grazing law

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Anti-Open Grazing Bill into law, saying it will foster peace and promote agricultural business in the state.

The bill, which was passed at its plenary, is to avoid continuous damage to farmlands and end loss of lives and unquantifiable investment to constant clashes between herders and crop farmers.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, appealed to residents of the state to ignore falsehood and misconception about the prohibition of open rearing and grazing of livestock bill capable of triggering hostility between the herders and local farmers’ communities.

According to him, a public hearing was held in which critical reviews and opinions of all concerned stakeholders, individuals, groups and experts were accommodated and considered before the bill was passed into law.

Falana tells FG to open borders, suggests another way of fighting smuggling

Human Rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana, has asked the Federal Government to open the borders, thereby asking them to urgently dialogue with neighbouring countries to fight the menace of smuggling which necessitated the country’s border to be closed.

Falana said the Federal Government should ignore the endorsement of border closure by the International Monetary Fund because “it is inconsistent with the letter and spirit of ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement of Persons, Residence and Establishment and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement. The endorsement of the IMF is a deliberate design to weaken ECOWAS regional integration agenda.”

Falana gave the advice while delivering a paper on Rule of Law, Good Governance and Economic Development at the annual conference of the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Accra, Ghana.

Falana’s paper read in part: “The borders should be reopened without any further delay as it cannot be sustained for too long without serious repercussions for the Nigerian economy. The neighbouring countries may retaliate by imposing a ban on goods being exported from Nigeria by air. They may also close down Nigerian banks and other businesses operating in other member states of the ECOWAS.”

“Instead of resorting to the unilateral closure of borders the federal government should drag the Republics of Benin and Niger to the Court of Justice of the ECOWAS for breaching the ECOWAS Protocol by allegedly encouraging the smuggling of petrol, rice and other products. In the alternative, smuggling should be addressed like terrorism which is being jointly combated by Nigeria and her neighbours.”

“Nigeria should stop punishing law-abiding corporate bodies and community citizens because of the criminal activities of a few trans-border smugglers. The Federal Government should expose the smugglers by arresting and prosecuting them. The smugglers in Nigeria and the neighbouring countries are well known by the security agencies. Without official connivance, the crime of smuggling cannot thrive in the region.”

“Apart from monitoring the borders with technology, the Federal Government should take advantage of the ECOWAS Protocol Relating to the Re-exportation within ECOWAS of goods imported from third countries. Under the Protocol Benin, Togo and Ghana are only entitled to charge administrative fees in respect of goods whose destination is Nigeria.”

“I commend the ECOWAS Court for protecting the human rights of community citizens. But member states should desist from disregarding the judgments and orders of the Court. Other leaders should emulate President Nana Akuffo-Addo who has ordered the Attorney- General and Minister of Ghana to ensure compliance with all decisions of the Court. The ECOWAS Commission should ensure that sanctions are imposed on recalcitrant member states in line with the ECOWAS Revised Treaty and the Protocol of the Community Court.”

Nigeria, India, China among 10 most improved economies – World Bank

Despite the bitter trade war, in which the United States is demanding reforms from Beijing to protect intellectual property and open its economy further to American businesses, China made the top 10 list for the second year in a row.

With those improvements, China leapfrogged France to take the 31st spot in the “ease of doing business” ranking, moving up 15 places,  according to the World Bank report.

And despite US complaints, the report credited China with improving protections for minority investors, strengthening procedures for enforcing contracts and making trade easier with changes to customs administration and port infrastructure.

“Removing barriers facing entrepreneurs generates better jobs, more tax revenues and higher incomes, all of which are necessary to reduce poverty and raise living standards,” World Bank Group President David Malpass said in a statement.

Nigeria is also ranked 131 on the list after moving up by 15 places from its 2019 spot.

“Nigeria conducted reforms impacting six indicators, including making the enforcement of contracts easier, which placed the 200-million-person economy among the world’s top improvers.

“Only two Sub-Saharan African economies rank in the top 50 on the ease of doing business rankings while most of the bottom 20 economies in the global rankings are from the region,” WorldBank said in a statement.

Tinubu House Bullion Vans: Deji Adeyanju Petitions EFCC

Activist Deji Adeyanju, says he has taken up the challenge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and had agreed to write a petition against APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu.
He said the petition will be submitted on Friday.

The action of Adeyanju, who is the convener, Concerned Nigerians, is coming barely a week after the EFCC had dared social media activist, Segun Awosanya, aka Segalink, to write a petition against Tinubu if he felt it was wrong of the APC leader to have had two bullion vans at his Bourdillon, Ikoyi, Lagos home on the eve of the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Adeyanju, who spent 78 days in custody between December and March, said he was not confident that the EFCC would take action, but decided to take the action because it was the right thing to do.

He wrote, “We, Concerned Nigerians, are going to submit a petition to the EFCC on Friday about these bullion vans at Tinubu’s house on [the] eve of presidential elections, then wait to hear what excuse they will give again.

“We know they won’t take any action but we will submit the petition.”

The EFCC had been under fire on social media for failing to take action against Tinubu who admitted on live television that he, indeed, had money in the bullion vans for his supporters.

Diddy files to formally change to Sean 'Love' Combs

He's had more than a few name changes since he started life as Sean John Combs.

The rapper, record producer and entrepreneur, 49, has worked his way through stage names including Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Puffy and, most recently, Diddy.

Now he has filed to officially change his middle name to Sean Love Combs, dropping the John, according to The Blast on Thursday.

He flirted with the idea back in November 2017, sharing a video of himself saying: 'I have some very serious, serious news...I've been praying on this and I've decided...

'I know it was risky cause I knew I could come off as corny to some people...like yo...I decided to change my name again.

'I'm just not who I am before...I'm something different...so my new name is love .. aka brother love.'

At the time he added:  'I will not be answering to puffy diddy puff daddy or any of my other monikers but love or brother love, ok... it's my birthday I feel good god is the greatest I give all the glory and I thank my momma and daddy.'

Diddy's actual birthday is November 4, so maybe the star felt reborn thanks to his decision.

However, he had a change of heart and a few days later he posted a second video saying people could still use his other monikers.

'I’ve come to the conclusion that you cannot play around with the Internet,' he said.

'Due to an overwhelming response from the media out there, and due there not wanting to be any confusion, I was only joking. Okay? I didn’t change my name.'

However, this time he actually is changing his name and The Blast has the papers to prove it.

Love will not become final until the petition is accepted and his legal team publish it in a newspaper. As long as nobody objects to the name change, he will then officially become Sean Love Combs.
Whether or not he will insist on being known as Love or Brother Love as he wanted in 2017 is still to be seen.

Kanye West reveals he predicts he will be US President

Kanye West has made some bold claims including that he predicts that he will be US President in an explosive new interview.

The 42-year-old rapper sat down for an exclusive two-hour interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Beats 1 radio which was released on Thursday.

Other than his want to become the leader of the free world he made several other brazen statements including that he asked people collaborating to abstain from sex, he kicked an addiction to porn, and that there shouldn't be NSFW content available to kids on social media.

'There were times where I was asking people to not have premarital sex while they were working.

'I know that’s one where The Shade Room gonna be like, "what you mean don’t have premarital sex? you better turn that Meg The Stallion on right now." But seriously there’s times where I went to people that were working on other projects and said 'could you just work and focus on this?'

Kanye also revealed he attempted to bury the hatchet with Drake, and even left his phone number at the rapper's house.
He also met Donald Trump at Trump Tower in New York City back in December 2016 while he was president elect.

He wasn't done there as he called himself 'undoubtedly the greatest human artist of all time' before going into more detail about his controversial past with Trump.

West explained: 'For the greatest artist in human existence to put a red hat on was God’s practical joke to all liberals. Like, 'No! Not Kanye!"'

He later shed even more light on his political leanings as he said he is 'the most liberal.'
