Ambode’s "Many Sins" Listed By Lagos Assembly

The Lagos State House of Assembly has listed 5 ‘sins’ allegedly committed by former governor of the state, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode. They include alleged unauthorised discounting of promissory notes and purchase of 820 buses without due authorisation.

The Assembly, therefore, asked the former governor to appear before it by 1pm on Wednesday 30 October 2019. This made it the second time the governor was summoned.

He was first summoned about two weeks ago alongside former government officials, including former commissioners for Finance, Economic Planning, Justice and Attorney General, and Permanent Secretary, Economic Planning.

The House had set up an ad hoc committee to investigate some financial misappropriation during the Ambode administration. However, according to a statement by the House, Ambode and the former government officials refused to appear before the House committee. The House has now issued another invite to the former governor, as contained in an advert in some national dailies.

The invite was titled, ‘Notice of summons: Mr Akinwunmi Ambode (the former Governor of Lagos State),’ and signed by the Clerk of the House, Mr A. A. Sanni. In the new summon, the former governor was reminded of the importance of appearing before the House to shed light on a five-point infraction raised by the Assembly.

The fresh notice stated, “The Lagos State House of Assembly, pursuant to Section 129 (1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) hereby summons His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the former Governor of Lagos State (May, 2015 – May, 2019) to appear before the Committee of the House on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium, Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja by 1 pm.”

Ambode was asked to appear to clarify the following: (1) Unauthorised discounting of promissory note; (2) Purchase of 820 buses by his administration without due authorisation; (3) Misappropriation of Special Expenditure Funds; (4) Improper implementation of the Appropriation Law; and (5) Non-adherence to the Financial Regulations of the state.

The notice urged the former governor to provide the Assembly’s committee with documents to justify that the above transactions did not violate constitutional provisions. It read, “You are kindly requested to furnish the committee with 15 copies each of all relevant document(s) relating to the issues raised through the Office of the Clerk of the House on or before Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

“It is pertinent to state that your presence at the proposed meeting would give you the opportunity to shed light on issues that are material to the investigation.”

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in August raided the Epe country home and Parkview Ikoyi residence of the former governor. He had also denied that certain accounts said to have been frozen by the EFCC were linked to him, adding that no account of his contained N9.9bn as the said accounts belonged to the state government.

The state Assembly had set up a committee to investigate the purchase of 820 buses out of the 5,000 buses proposed by the embattled former governor because the lawmakers had originally objected to the idea.

In a motion titled, ‘Lagos State House of Assembly Motion Number 2,’ the member representing Eti Osa 2, Gbolahan Yishawu, stated that the then administration proposed to spend N17bn to purchase the buses in the 2017 budget, which was not approved by the Assembly.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the media aide to the former governor, Mr Habib Aruna, proved abortive as he had not picked calls or responded to a text message sent to his mobile telephone number as of the time of filing this report.

She explained why she visited several churches for healing and her encounter with Dr Chris Okafor. Mrs Bose Ola, woman with fractured hand had an interview with the journalist.

Cladded in a cream caftan, seated on 6 spring bed that has seen better days, its obvious the euphoria and condemnation she has suffered after the videos of her various “healings “ in churches went viral has caused her much pain ,more than the miracle she sourced .

The lady in the eyes of the storm sat down to speak exclusively with Chris Kehinde Nwandu on her travails that has made her seek deliverance from Churches within and outside Nigeria.

Here's the story of Mrs Bose Ola, the woman in the videos that went viral on social media allegedly healed by several Pastors;

Madam Welcome to CKN News.

Ans: thank you sir.

Question: Can you introduce yourself.

Answer: My name is Mrs Bose Ola.

Question: Where are you from?

Answer: I am from Ibarapa, in Oyo State.

Question: How did you come about your fractured hand

Answer: It was an accident.

Question: What type (nature) of accident, Okada, car or what?

Answer: I had a domestic accident at home and fractured my hand.

Question: When was this?

Answer: This was 2 years ago.

Question: How many Churches have you gone to (attended) for your healing.

Answer: I have attended several uncountable Churches within and outside Nigeria.

Question: How come you attend several churches, where you claimed you have been healed of same ailment?

Answer: Truly whenever I attend such churches I get healed but my ailment relapses after two days.

Question: Relapses every two days, what exactly do you mean by that?

Answer: Once they heal me, I feel no pains but after two days after, the pains returns, the reason I continue visiting various churches for a permanent healing.

Question: How many Churches have you visited so far?

Answer: I can’t recollect.

Question: Who linked you with you with the last Church you visited (Prophet Chris Okafor) of Liberation Ministry and what has been the experience so far?

Answer: My sister in law introduced me to the Church.

Question: Before then have you met him, if yes, what were your discussions with him.

Answer: We’ve never met before and I had no prior meeting with him.

Question: So what has the experience being since your encounter with him

Answer: I am perfectly alright now, I am permanently healed, since my last encounter with him, I’ve not felt any pains again, it is almost six days now (lifting up her shirt sleeve to reveal the hand), I no longer feel pains and I am permanently healed (although the hand as noticed by CKN News was still dangling from the upper joint).

Question: Are you saying this for a truth or are you going to continue visiting other Churches for more “divine healing”?

Answer: No, I won’t, I am sure this current healing is permanent.

Question: It was alleged that you collect or received N1m each for your alleged “stage managed miracles”, how true is this?

Answer: It is a lie sir, take a look at me, do I look like someone being given N1m, if I collect N1m from them, would I look this poor.

They did not give me any money and I never paid for any healing too.

Three arrested for stealing female pants in Niger

Men of the Niger State Police Command have apprehended three people suspected to be stealing pants in the Lapai and Kaffin-Koro areas of the state.

The suspects, Mohammed Ali, 24; Ephraim Isaiah, 19 and Abubakar Sadiq, 18, were trailed and arrested by the police operatives attached to Lapai and Kiffin-Koro Divisions while trying to escape.

It was learnt that Ali and others were in the act for more than two years, removing female pants spread on the clothes lines.

Punch correspondent on Friday gathered that Ali was contacted by one of his accomplices to steal four female pants for N20, 000. He was reportedly about to steal the third pants when he was caught by the people who handed him over to the police.

Ali stated, “One Madaji Yabajeko from Agaie is my customer who comes to sew clothes from me. He approached me to steal pants for him, that if I steal four pants, he will pay me N20, 000.

“I have stolen three pants so far and gave them to him but he has not paid me. He said he would pay me after the pants are complete.”

Ali further said he stole the pants when the residents were not at home but on the day he was caught, he did not know the owner of the pants was around.

“I steal pants from the windows of the student’s lodge off campus. The last one which they caught me, I did not know the owner was at home. As I put my hand inside the bathroom to take the pant, that was how she shouted and people cane around and I was caught.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Muhammad, confirmed the incident, saying the suspects had confessed to the crime.

Abubakar further advised females to be cautious of how they spread their underwear as there were perpetrators prowling around to use the underwear “for only-God-knows purposes.”

Trans woman tried to sue beauticians for refusing to wax her testicles

A transgender woman tried and failed to sue beauticians who refused to wax her testicles.

Jessica Yaniv, 32, accused 13 waxing salons of discrimination last year because they wouldn’t trim her pubic hair and leave her with a neat line. She identifies as a woman but still has a penis and testicles, body parts the businesses said they did not offer services for.

The waxers said they were either untrained in the art of scrotum shaving or that they should not be forced to touch male genitals if they did not want to. Other estheticians said they refused to carry out the treatment for religious reasons.

Yaniv sought 15,000 Canadian dollars from each case, but the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal ruled in favour of the salons because they didn’t advertise waxes for male genitalia.

Tribunal member Devyn Cousineau, wrote: ‘In the genital waxing cases, I find that scrotum waxing was not a service customarily provided by the respondents. ‘As such, they did not deny Ms Yaniv a service and did not discriminate against her.’

I’d rather pray for wisdom than a husband, actress Efia Odo replies a nosy fan

While some people have made it their habit to always poke their nose into peoples affairs, Efia Odo has proven herself to have the time to address such people.

Efia Odo has often been at the receiving end of cyber bullies and in some few instances, she stands up to them and return fire in equal proportion.

The bubbly TV personality recently shared a video of some fans who were imitating a dance routine she did with Shatta Wale at his studio.

However, one follower who thought it was the right time to advice Efia Odo to look for a husband instead of sitting on social media and engaging in trivialities got “served” by Efia in a grand style.

The fan wrote “Efia you’re very beautiful, pray for you to get a husband”.

But Efia Odo  who won’t let that slide without shooting back sarcastically replied; “I’ll rather pray for wisdom”.

I earned two degrees while in prison -ex-inmate

A former inmate of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Enugu State, Mr Adenyi Theophilus, has said he earned a graduate and postgraduate degrees while in prison.

Adenyi told the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu on Friday that he was sent to prison on awaiting trial in 2010 over a communal case he was not involved in but lumped in with others on trumped-up charge.

According to him, in March 2011, the then Controller of Prisons, Mustapha Attah, informed the inmates of the approval to establish a study centre of the National Open University of Nigeria in the prison.

“We were surprised because we didn’t believe that there can be a university inside the prison. The CP encouraged those with O ’level results to enroll and that prisons would pay 50 per cent of the tuition fees.

“It wasn’t easy to raise money from prison to pay for the balance of the tuition fees and buy reading materials,” Adenyi said.

The inmate, from Nkanu East in Enugu State, added that the trauma of being in prison was enough to discourage him but with perseverance and hard work, he was able to conquer.

He said, “My motivation was that my destiny was in my hands and nobody can make me be whatever I want to become tomorrow apart from God. Another motivation was the fact that my O’level result will not give me a better job when I leave the prison.

“The staff of the correctional centre also helped the inmates with motivational talks especially the psychology department.”

He said in 2015, among the 25 inmates that registered, he was the only one that was able to complete his courses and graduate.

Adenyi said his plan was to graduate with first class grade but he was proud to finish with 2.1 in Peace, Conflict and Strategic Studies.

“The institution gave me an award with a sum of N50, 000 and that helped me to enroll for master’s immediately the same year.

“Presently I am through with master’s and on PhD programme in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka after leaving the prison,” he said.

According to him, on October 5, 2015, after five years and six months of awaiting trial, he was discharged, acquitted and not convicted.

He urged and advised inmates to enroll in the secondary and higher institution available in the centre.

“There are more to life, than smoking narcotics and exhibiting bad lifestyle because being in prison is not the end of life. I advise them to imbibe the habit of reading to acquire knowledge that will help them when they get out of prison. Today, instead of doing the wrong thing while in prison, I have written a book and three poems,” Adenyi stated.
