Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth unfollow each other on IG

Their split is Instagram official.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth appear to have unfollowed each other on the photo-sharing platform, though it’s unclear who made the first move or when they decided to cut social media ties.

Cyrus, 26, has been packing on the PDA with boyfriend Cody Simpson, so perhaps Hemsworth, 29, didn’t want to see his estranged wife moving on with someone else.

Not all is lost between the two, however, as the Slide Away songstress still follows her ex’s brother Chris Hemsworth and Liam still follows Miley’s family, including her sister Noah Cyrus and dad Billy Ray Cyrus. Neither has deleted the photos they have with each other off of their grids.

The stars announced their split in August after less than a year of marriage. Cyrus then entered a brief relationship with Brody Jenner’s ex-Kaitlynn Carter before starting to date Simpson.

Hemsworth also has moved on, having gone on some dates with Dynasty’s Maddison Brown.

Senate proposes 14-year jail term for sexual predators in tertiary institutions

The Senate on Wednesday debated two critical bills – the Sexual Harassment Bill and President Muhammadu Buhari’s Finance Bill, 2019.

The bills, which scaled second reading on the floor of the Senate, were sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege and Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya, respectively.

The proposed legislation titled “A Bill for an Act to Prevent, Prohibit and Redress Sexual Harassment of Students in Tertiary Educational Institutions and for other matters connected therewith 2019” has 27 clauses.

According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Press) to President of the Senate, Ezrel Tabiowo, the bill proposes up to 14 years jail term, with a minimum of five years, without an option of fine for any educator who commits sexual offences in tertiary institutions.

It defines sexual offences as including: sexual intercourse with a student or demands for sex from a student or a prospective student or intimidating or creating a hostile or offensive environment for the student by soliciting for sex or making sexual advances.

Other forms of sexual harassment identified in the bill are grabbing, hugging, kissing, rubbing, stroking, touching, pinching the breasts or hair or lips or hips or buttocks or any other sensual part of the body of a student; or sending by hand or courier or electronic or any other means naked or sexually explicit pictures or videos or sex related objects to a student, and whistling or winking at a student or screaming, exclaiming, joking or making sexually complimentary or uncomplimentary remarks about a student’s physique or stalking a student.

Senator Omo-Agege, in his lead debate, said: “the most effective way to deal with the offence of sexual harassment in our tertiary institutions is to penalise the very impropriety of the act, with or without consent.”

According to him, sexual harassment must be defined in tertiary educational institutions as statutory rape with strict liability for offenders to be prosecuted easily.

On the extension of the bill to primary, secondary schools, worship centres and work place, Omo-Agege said doing so will not be necessary because the Criminal and Penal codes already adequately deals with these categories with sufficient clarity.

He, however, stressed that the bill prescribes expulsion for students who falsely accuse educators of sexual harassment.

Two murder suspects escape jail by creating a route through the toilet

Police have released images showing how two murder suspects pulled off a surprising jail break in California.

Santos Samuel Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, crawled through a 22in (55cm) hole they cut in a toilet ceiling at the jail in the city of Salinas, south of San Francisco.

The local sheriff's office said the men had exploited a "blind spot".

The two were awaiting trial for separate murder charges when they escaped on Sunday.

"We're disappointed that there are people charged with homicide who are no longer in our jail," Jonathan Thornburg, a spokesman for the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, said.

Authorities are searching for the fugitives, who are considered armed and dangerous.

The sheriff's office is offering a $5,000 (£3,800) reward for information about the suspects' whereabouts.

How step sister beat 13-year old girl to death in Lekki

When a Lagos trader Mr. Emeka Omenka and his wife Ifeoma allowed their 13-year-old daughter Precious to go visit her married stepsister in Lekki, they never knew it was a decision they would regret the rest of their lives.

Precious, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 pupil died on October 25 at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Ebute Metta as a result of complications that arose from beatings she allegedly received from her older half-sister Mrs. Nneka and her mother Seki Eko on October 14 and 15.

It was gathered that the teenager, upon the request of Mrs. Nneka, went to the latter’s house at Ikota in Lekki on Saturday, October 12, only to be returned to her parents on October 16 in pains.

According to Mr. Omenka, Precious upon return complained of body pains and explained that she was mercilessly beaten by her elder sister, adding that Nneka’s mother who joined in beating her, kicked her several times in the stomach.

He said himself and his wife bought pain killers for her and used hot water to massage her body in the hopes that she would be relieved not knowing that the girl had internal injuries, bleeding as a result of the assaults she suffered.

“I am in pains. My heart is broken. I do not even know where to start. I am finding it so difficult to understand how my older daughter and her mother beat up my girl so badly to the point that she died as a result of wounds she sustained.

“Nneka is my first daughter. I had her out of wedlock with one Sike Eko I was in a relationship with.

Her mother runs a beer parlour at Oyingbo. But Nneka was trained by my wife Ifeoma who loved her like her own child.

“When I got married to my wife, it was difficult for her to conceive and so, she brought up Nneka like her own child. So, when she came and said Precious should come to her place in Ikota, we did not have any reason to deny her request.

“She has been begging my wife for about two years now to allow Precious come and stay with her.

Her husband lives in Dubai. She promised to send her to a private school to appreciate my wife for taking care of her when I married her.

“Precious went to her place on October 12. It was that weekend that it rained all through. Then, on October 14, which was a Monday, it also rained and Precious said she peed on the bed. That was her offence that made my daughter and her mother to descend on her like that.

“When they have finished, they brought her back and dumped her at my place in Apapa Road, Ebute Metta. She was complaining of body pains and narrated what happened to her at her sister’s place in tears. I could not bear it and I wept as she was talking.

”My wife and I bought pain killers that we gave her. My wife was also using hot water and clothe to massage her body. We did not know that it was so bad. When we saw that she was not getting better despite the painkillers, we decided to take her to FMC because that’s where she was born.

“She was already stooling on her body and her mother was cleaning it. So, at the hospital, she was rushed to the Emergency room after the doctors said she was short of blood. They did so many tests and scans and discovered that she was bleeding internally and that her bladder burst too.

“She was in the hospital some days and was booked for emergency surgery. I was busy running around to raise money to save my daughter’s life. I even borrowed from friends and family members so that she could be saved but at last we lost her.

“Throughout this period, Nneka did not tell me what happened to my daughter. She did not even come to the hospital until her relative from her mother’s side who works at the FMC called her to rebuke her.

“That was when she came and spent about N14,000 on my daughter’s drugs that day. I am still trying to understand all these things because I honestly do not get it. I did not go to the police station then because I was busy running around for my daughter to be alright.

“But after she passed on and my kinsmen knew what happened, they advised I go and report at the station. I went to Denton Police Station and Iponri but they told me it did not happen in their jurisdiction and that I have to go to Lekki to report.

“How will I go to Lekki which is their area to report a case against her? Will I be able to afford the expenses? That is why I did not go there. I just sent a message to her husband and told him what she did. My wife has been inconsolable since then.

Mum's horror as her 6 year-old dies in her arms after suffering electric shock at nursery

A mum has told how her six-year-old son died in her arms after suffering an electric shock at nursery.

Elisa C could only watch in horror as youngster Antonio was electrocuted when he reportedly grabbed hold of a cable that was coming out of a broken socket.

The 27-year-old mum and a staff member from the nursery in Frankfurt, Germany, tried desperately to keep Antonio alive by giving him mouth-to-mouth, but tragically nothing could be done to save him.

Recalling the horrific ordeal, Elisa said: "When I went to pick Antonio up, I was in the changing rooms and Antonio was running around, and suddenly he must have got hold of a cable that was coming out of a socket. The socket was hanging out of the wall."

The child was catapulted towards his mum.

Elisa, originally from Italy but living in Germany, continued: "It was a shock, the nursery school boss and I tried to resuscitate him, we gave him mouth to mouth and performed chest compressions. But it was too late, Antonio died in my arms.

"Building works had been carried out and the nursery school had been closed. It then opened again, although it clearly was not finished.

"Walls had been painted and new flooring laid, and the nursery school had to be closed."

But Jan Pasternak, from the Integration and Education Department in the City of Frankfurt, said: "We are not aware of any building works being carried out at the nursery school and certainly not aware of cables coming out of the walls.

"This would not be possible when the nursery school is open as normal for business."

The Public Prosecutor in Frankfurt is investigating charges of involuntary manslaughter against unknown persons at this time.

Prosecutor Nadja Niesen: "The focus of the investigation is on whether someone acted against their duty of care."

The mum is now trying to raise enough money to fly Antonio's body to Italy for burial and the parents association has set up a PayPal for donations.

The nursery school remains closed while investigations are ongoing.

PDP accuses Bello, Adeyemi of plotting Melaye’s arrest

The Peoples Democratic Party has accused the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and his campaign’s Director-General, Smart Adeyemi, of allegedly plotting the arrest and detention of Dino Melaye before the November 16 elections.

The party said the plot was allegedly hatched on Monday during a meeting at the Government House.

A statement by Melaye’s media aide, Gideon Ayodele, on Tuesday said the governor and Adeyemi with some other All Progressives Congress’ stakeholders in the state had concluded arrangement to ensure that he (Melaye) was arrested and detained before the elections.

The statement read, “The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the people of Kogi West Senatorial District and Kogi electorates to resist any attempt to rob them of their right in choosing candidates of their choice in the elections.”

The governor’s Director-General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, said it was not the governor’s responsibility to arrest offenders.

Olympian Madiea Ghafoor jailed eight and half years for drug smuggling and trafficking

Dutch Olympian Madiea Ghafoor has been jailed for eight and a half years for drug smuggling and trafficking.

Ghafoor, 27, competed at the Rio Olympics in 2016 in the 4x400m relay.

She was stopped at a routine border check in Germany in June, when she was found to have £2m worth of drugs in the boot of her car.

Ghafoo appeared at Kleve District Court on Monday and told the court she thought she was carrying doping materials.

She was found to have 50kg of ecstasy tablets, 2kg of crystal meth and almost €11,950 (£10,317) in cash.

The Dutch Athletics Union said: "We are stunned by the judgements.
"With the ruling of the German court, the Athletics Union rejects the actions of Ghafoor.

"The Athletics Union condemns any use or trade in doping or drugs and fully commits itself to the Dutch doping law."

Ghafoor pleaded not guilty to the charge and indicated she is likely to appeal.

She also refused to say who gave her the drugs, admitting she fears for the safety of her friends and family.

The 27-year-old is of Pakistani descent but was born and raised in Amsterdam.

Having caught the eye in the Junior Championships, she has since represented Netherlands at the European Championships.

She was part of the squad in Rio in 2016, became the first female athlete of Baloch origin to compete.

17 year-old girl dies after being 'r.a.p.e.d by group of boys at house party'

A teenager died after she was allegedly r.a.p.e.d by a group of boys at a house party.

Jhoselin Monica Calani, 17, attended the gathering at a friend's house on October 16. She is believed to have collapsed during the celebrations.

It is believed she was then brutally raped by the group in Oruro, Bolivia. When she woke, Jhoselin complained of soreness in her hips and struggled to stand.

She was dashed to hospital but died there two weeks later.

Her grief-stricken mum now wants the four teenage boys arrested on suspicion of her rape to be prosecuted for murder or femicide.

“I want to tell you those guys cannot go out, justice must be carried out, they must pay for what they did, they should not be punished with a minor penalty,” she said.

Police continue to investigate the tragedy, and are questioning the suspects, each aged 16 or 17.

Alcohol was served at the party, officers say.

But they are exploring whether other drugs were also present.

Orlando Zapata, the Oruro department attorney, said Jhoselin “did not remember what happened, she felt very cold and presented a strong pain in the hips”.

Hundreds gathered to mourn Jhoselin at her funeral last week.

Wife murdered husband after sharing fantasies of romping in his blood with lover

A s.e.x-mad wife and lover who murdered her millionaire husband after revelling in violent pornographic fantasies of torturing and killing him for months face years in jail.

Angela Taylor, 53, and Paul Cannon, 54, shared a "venomous hatred" for farmer William Taylor.

The wealthy 69-year-old had refused to grant his wife of 20 years a divorce before vanishing last June.

But on the night the landowner vanished, Cannon told Taylor he was "just watching Kill Bill 2 lol", with her replying "1 would be nice" with several smiling emojis.

In the months beforehand, he told Taylor he would "kill for" her and was afraid of losing her.

He went on to say: "You know what I'd like to do ... make love to you on his kitchen table with your p**** soaked in blood with him tied to a chair so he had to watch !!!!!!!"
"Then send him to hell."

And Mr Taylor's skeletal remains were found waist-deep in mud by a passing fisherman on a secluded riverbank near one of his farms in Gosmore, Hertfordshire.

The landowner's body was so decomposed that determining a cause of death was impossible, experts told St Albans Crown Court.

Taylor and burly Cannon, who is a digger driver, were jointly convicted of his murder by a jury of eight women and four men after little more than 11 hours of deliberations.

Grey-haired Cannon, wearing a dark suit, shook his head as the verdicts were returned, while Taylor appeared to make no reaction.

Dozens of violent WhatsApp messages expressing a desire to seriously harm Mr Taylor were read in court. The messages showed the pair had enjoyed discussing sexually graphic and violent ways of seriously harming Mr Taylor, who suffered from both tinnitus and arthritis .

They included fantasies of showering together as his blood ran down the drain and cutting his ligaments and fingers off.

But Taylor and Cannon, both of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, will be sentenced on Friday by judge Michael Kay QC.

Taylor has three children with her farmer husband. They married in 1997.

Investigation says Self-driving Uber that killed a woman last year developed software problems, hence the accident

An Uber self-driving test vehicle that hit and killed a woman in 2018 had software problems, according to US safety investigators.

Elaine Herzberg, 49, was hit by the car as she crossed a road in Tempe, Arizona.

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NSTB) found the car failed to properly identify her as a pedestrian.

The detailed findings raised a series of safety issues but did not determine the probable cause of the accident.

The safety board is expected to make that finding when it meets on 19 November.

The findings, released on Tuesday, may also be used to help shape recommendations for the developing autonomous driving industry. The sector has come under sharp scrutiny in the wake of the accident.

The fatal crash occurred in March 2018, and involved a Volvo XC90 that Uber had been using to test its self-driving technology.

Just before the crash, Ms Herzberg had been walking with a bicycle across a poorly lit stretch of a multi-lane road.

Police to arraign 46 alleged homosexuals November 22

The Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed November 22, 2019 for the arraignment of 46 persons charged with homosexuality by the police.

The defendants were said to have been arrested in August at a hotel in Egbeda.

The police brought them to court on Tuesday for arraignment. But Justice Rilwan Aikawa said his courtroom was too small for the arraignment of the 46 defendants.

The judge said he would have to adjourn the arraignment while he looked for a bigger courtroom where the arraignment could take place.

“We cannot have 57 persons in this court. We have to look for a day we can use Court 2, so it can be convenient for all,” the judge said and adjourned till November 22.

Doctors remove 12cm flesh-eating tapeworm which has been eating a man's brain for 15 years

A man has had a 12cm-long flesh-eating tapeworm removed from his head which had been slowly eating his brain for the past 15 years.

Wang Lei first started to feel numbness down his left side in 2007, and has continued to suffer withfail health ever since.

He has seen multiple specialists and was once treated for a malignant brain tumour, as doctors tried to figure the cause of his issues.

But the young man's condition continued to worsen and he started to suffer frequent seizures and blackouts, according to local media.

In 2018, doctors discovered that a tapeworm was living in his brain and they advised the patient to undergo non-surgical treatment as the parasite was considered to be in a risky area to operate on.

Unfortunately, the tapeworm continued to live in Mr Wang's head and he recently underwent an operation at the Guangdong Sanjiu Brain Hospital to remove it.

Following the two-hour procedure, medics removed a Sparganum mansoni parasite commonly found in the intestines of cats and dogs, but rarely in people, according to reports.

Doctor Gu told local media: "The surgery was risky.

"The live tapeworm was moving in his brain and we had to remove all of it otherwise the leftover part could grow again.

"It is not the only case, our hospital has treated four patients this year.

"People should be careful when cooking frogs, snails and snakes which need to be cooked thoroughly.

"Also, do not drink water in the wild unless it has been boiled."

Mr Wang, from the city of Guangzhou in the south-eastern Chinese, is now recovering from surgery.
