Bolivian President Evo Morales resigns after protests

Bolivian President Evo Morales has resigned amid turmoil following his disputed re-election last month.

On Sunday, international monitors called for the election result to be annulled, saying they had found "clear manipulations" of the 20 October poll.

Mr Morales agreed with the findings and announced his intention to call fresh elections - after overhauling the country's election body.

But politicians - and the army and police chiefs - had urged him to quit.

Some of his allies were attacked earlier this week, and said their homes had been set alight.

In a televised address, Mr Morales said he would resign as president, and urged protesters to "stop attacking the brothers and sisters, stop burning and attacking".

Man who spent £80,000 to look like Katie Price now thinks she's 'gone too far'

A young man who spent £80,000 to look like his idol Katie Price is now considering tweaking himself so he resembles Kylie Jenner .

Nathan Thursfield has had numerous procedures on his face in a bid to capture the striking look of former glamour model Katie.

Although he has irreversibly changed his look and no longer resembles the fresh-faced teenager he once was, the 24-year-old has dropped Katie as his official inspiration, Stoke Sentinel reported.

Nathan feels Peter Andre's ex has tweaked herself too much, leading him towards American reality TV's Jenner instead.

"I used to admire Katie’s surgery journey now I fear she is going a little too far especially with her face, but she definitely looks fabulous still," he said. "I know my limits.

"I do think Kylie Jenner looks fab. Maybe I will change my face to look like hers. That would be the next outrageous thing."

Nathan and Katie have crossed paths before.

When Nathan appeared on Loose Women with Katie, she said he looked perfect.

Recently Nathan set off on a trip to Turkey where he was booked in to the same clinic Katie uses.
There he will fork out £7,000 for a smile makeover.

It will be the latest in a long list of bodily tweaks Nathan has opted for included chin fillers, cheek fillers, lip fillers, botox and liposuction on his arms and back and three nose jobs - despite medics warning it could fall off.

"I speak to Katie, so she gave advice and told me her experience, so that’s why I chose to come here."

Nathan's advice for those considering going down the plastic surgery route is likely to ruffle the feathers of those who promote body positivity and acceptance.

"I must admit if there is something I dislike about myself or my body, I will change it," he said.

"I advise anyone the same when they ask me. If it bothers you that much then change it, however make sure you research surgeons and companies.

I married my husband at 16 and had no formal education, Bauchi governor’s wife reveals

Aishatu Mohammed, wife of Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Saturday said she had no formal education when she married her husband.

Mrs Mohammed stated this in Bauchi at the occasion of the “Naija Youth Talk”, organised by the Bauchi Field Office of the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF)

“I was 16 years old and a stark illiterate when I married my husband.

“We were 100 girls in our family; none went to school; I only started school after my third child,” she said.

She decried the high rate of illiteracy and early marriage among young girls in the state, blaming the situation on parents who believed formal education for the girl-child was a mere waste of resources.

“We were 100 girls in my family, but none of us had formal education; I had never been to primary school in my parent’s house.

“This is because our parents never believed in educating the girl-child; I struggled to go school, but they refused.

“I picked the challenge to be educated from my brothers and after I had my third child, I insisted my husband gets me a home teacher.

“That’s how I started and I later went to secondary school. Today I am a graduate of Public Administration from the University of Abuja,” she narrated.

Mrs Mohammed who emphasised the importance of educating not only the girl-child, but young people in the society, added that such move would curb crimes and social vices in the society.

She called on relevant government agencies and organisations to ensure that parents and caregivers were adequately sensitised on the need to allow young boys and girls go to school.

“The crimes in society cannot stop until we give proper education to women and youths in the society.

“So, I call on relevant agencies to go into our communities and sensitise parents to allow their children, particularly the girl-child, to go school,” she advised.

She also admonished young people to go into meaningful ventures that would enable them become self reliant, rather than wait for white-collar jobs.

“One of my sons is today a farmer. His father was a former senator, minister and today a governor, yet he is doing farm business.

“Same goes to his sister who is into catering. I always encourage my children to be self-reliant, so I am challenging all of you here today,” she advised.

Sad! Kidnappers seize man with ransom money

The kidnappers in Katsina state have kidnapped the man who brought ransom money to get his father freed from them. Now, they want the friends of their latest captive to cough out additional N6m to get father and son released.

Abdu Tela, an elderly man in Dayi town, Malumfashi LGA was initially captured by the kidnappers on 29 October, who demanded N10m to free him.

One of his sons Ali Abdu is a popular businessman and philanthropist.

Another son of Tela, Sa’adu Abdu, after the ransom had been negotiated southwards to N4m, took the money to the kidnappers in the appointed place in the forest. He was accompanied by two of his friends who stayed some distance away.

But rather than release the old man in their captivity, the kidnappers decided to seize the bearer of ransom, until the full ransom is paid.

According to Daily Trust, the kidnappers communicated their decision to Abdu’s friends, using Abdu’s phone.

Spokesman of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, was surprised by the new development, in which kidnappers would also seize the man with ransom money.

“We always warn against negotiating with kidnappers and urge people to trust the police to handle the situation. People should always have confidence in security agencies to help and recover those kidnapped, we always ask them to resist negotiating, and kidnappers are not dependable.”

Cobhams Asuquo prays for Vice-President Osinbajo

Music producer and singer, Cobhams Asuquo believes Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is going through some political challenges and has taken to his Instagram page to offer some prayers, asking God to “blind the forces of darkness that seek to tarnish his good name”.

He wrote; ''Today, I pray for our Vice President: May the Almighty God bless @profosinbajo May God uphold him, strengthen him and see him through the good and the bad. May the Almighty God blind the forces of darkness that seek to tarnish his good name. I must admit that in the past, even I have judged him harshly, failing to remember the man I had looked up to for so many years as an aspiring lawyer and erroneously lumping him along with a corrupt political class. I admit now that I did so in ignorance. His’ is one rare instance where the office is blessed with a honorable man, more than qualified to hold a political office in Nigeria. The Lord God Almighty will fight for you and you will hold your peace. The Lord God Almighty will vindicate you and deliver Nigeria from the clutches of any evil person or persons with an evil agenda. Nigerians will prosper. We will stand together, united in love against the forces of darkness and division that have sought to tear us apart for so many years. It is not a question of if we were ever meant to be; it is the fact that we now are and that we owe it to ourselves to rise above the powerful voices of disunity. We also owe it to ourselves, in our most quiet moment, to pray for this man. God bless Nigeria.

Meghan Markle and Kate join husbands for 1st joint event since Harry confirmed rift

It's one of the key events of the year and the royals are out in force for  Remembrance Day service.

Prince William and wife Kate Middleton arrived first for the grand Albert Hall event - closely followed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Out together for the first time since Harry confirmed a rift with his brother in an ITV documentary, they added glitz to Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, commemorating those who lost their lives in conflicts.

It's the first official royal engagement the "Fab Four" have attended together since Trooping the Colour in June.

Meghan, 38, was in a glamorous mid-length black gown with her hair tied back in a bun, while Kate was in a smart navy dress with black belt.

Kate, 37, also wore pearl earrings - loaned from the Queen - and a Zara headband.

Plus-size actresses not getting enough recognition in Nollywood – Seun Omojola

These days, it is not strange to see actors play roles of lesbians and homosexuals in movies. While many movie buffs have condemned movies like that, other enthusiasts believe nothing is wrong in depicting such roles.

Rising filmmaker and actress, Seun Omojola, in a chat with Sunday Scoop stated that she cannot play such roles in a movie.

She said, “I can’t act a same-sex lover character. I can act another role in the movie if it has a good storyline but I cannot interpret the role of a lesbian.”

Speaking further, the busty actress stated that she once spent her entire savings on producing a movie. She added, “I can recall spending my savings on a movie. When the movie was eventually released, I didn’t recoup the capital, let alone profit. It was a great learning experience for me.”

Omojola also stated that though plus size women are making giant strides in the entertainment industry, they are not given much attention.

“Plus size women are doing great things in movie industries all over the world but you can count them because they are not much. And that’s because the entertainment industry has painted a picture of who the ideal leading lady should be, which is mostly size six-12.”

Some female fans embarrassed me by kissing me publicly - Ali Nuhu

Popular Kannywood actor and producer, Ali Nuhu, speaks to Mobola Sadiq about the challenges facing the movie industry, how he handles fame, and other issues

Some people don’t consider Kannywood as part of the country’s movie industry; it is Nollywood that is popular. What do you think about that?

I think it’s because Kannywood movies are produced up North and there’s a sort of dichotomy; many practitioners in Kannywood do not practise in the South.  I think that’s the reason why it is so. But we all belong to the same industry.

Despite being married, do you still get advances from women?

That happens to me. Some even happen in the presence of my wife. I was in Saudi Arabia with my wife and we were walking on the street, then a lady gave my wife her phone and said: “Please, I need a picture with your husband.”  The lady’s best friend asked my wife: “How can you take the phone from another woman to take a picture of her and your husband?” My wife said, “This is what he does for a living; he is professional and I just have to understand. Taking a picture with him doesn’t make any difference because she’s not taking him away. After taking pictures with him, she might not even see him again.” So it happens.

So what’s the naughtiest thing a female fan has done to you unexpectedly?

I walked out of a mall or shopping complex in Abuja and a lady hugged and kissed me; I was so embarrassed.

It happened again at an airport in Dubai; a South African lady saw me and clung to me.

Who do you admire in the movie industry?

I think it’s Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. She’s been my number one. I’ve always liked working with her. I think we’ve done two projects together and I’m looking forward to doing another one with her soon. It’s Omotola any day, anytime.

How I lost my dad, mum within 6 months - Queen Nwokoye

For Nollywood actress, Queen Nwokoye, 2019 will ever remain a sad one. That was when she lost her father and mother within six months. Nwokoye has not gotten over the shock completely, but she gave God the praise.

She took to her Instagram page to express her mind about the tragedy that befell her. She wrote;

“I started 2019 with my Mum and My Dad and within 6 months, I became an orphan. I still don’t know how I managed to pull through two burial ceremonies within 6 months. I can’t question God but my heart bleeds for them. I take solace in the fact that they are in a better place. Today, I have made a decision to be happy and put everything behind me. God is in control. Happy weekend everyone.”
