20-year old Nigerian charged for killing his mom in the US

Austin police say a 20-year-old has been arrested and charged in the killing of his mother in a downtown hotel.

Eyitoluwa Olayeye, a Nigerian, has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.

The investigation began after Austin 9-1-1 received a call just before 4:45 a.m. on November 6 about a disturbance in a room on the 5th floor at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in the 800 block of Neches Street. ATCEMS responded to a call of someone screaming in the room and later updates said it sounded like a fight in the room and a woman screaming.

Officers arrived at the hotel and had to force entry into the room, where they found 48-year-old Kehinde Olayeye lying face down and unresponsive on the floor and a man, later identified as her son Eyitoluwa, lying on her back with his arm wrapped around her body. According to an arrest affidavit, a bloody pillow was also found in the room.

Austin-Travis County EMS examined the victim and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:12 a.m.

Eyitoluwa's aunt told officers she and Kehinde had flown into Austin from Georgia the night before to visit Eyitoluwa. She said she and Kehinde had received a call from Eyitoluwa the afternoon before and that Eyitoluwa was rambling and saying "I pray that God brings us together," says the arrest affidavit.

Eyitoluwa's friends took the phone and told them he had been saying he "had found his purpose in life" and that he apparently "had touched someone inappropriately at the library on campus and had been asked to leave." His friends told them Eyitoluwa was being transported to the hospital by EMS for an evaluation, says the affidavit.

The aunt said she and Kehinde decided to get on a flight at the time and come to Austin, and Kehinde received a call from Dell Seton Medical Center asking if Eyitoluwa's family had a history of mental illness. Eyitoluwa's friends later called to inform them Eyitoluwa had been released from the hospital and that they would be taking him to their apartment. They also told Kehinde that Eyitoluwa was saying he wanted to leave school, according to the affidavit.

The aunt and mother landed in Austin around 11 p.m. and rented a car to pick up Eyitoluwa, the aunt saying he seemed happy according to the affidavit. The three decided to get a hotel downtown and after stopping at Eyitoluwa's apartment for his laptop, drove to the Holiday Inn Express, arriving around 2 a.m. Eyitoluwa got two rooms, one for him and his mother and one for his aunt.

The aunt said Eyitoluwa told them the hospital was trying to hold him because of a mental issue, but he just told them what they wanted to hear so they would let him go. She said she noticed he was really hyped up and told him to get some sleep. She told officers she and Kehinde wanted to take Eyitoluwa back with them to Georgia.

Officers spoke with the security guard who called 911. He said he was making his rounds around 4:30 a.m. when he heard loud voices like arguing coming from the room. He told officers he knocked on the door and asked the guests to keep it down, but the noises got louder.

A witness told officers that around 4:15 a.m. he heard a woman running down the hall banging on doors and screaming, possibly saying "Let me in" and what sounded like someone being dragging past his room.

Eyitoluwa was transported to the Homicide office where officers said they observed wounds on his left elbow and inside of his left bicep, a bruise on the inside of his right bicep and swelling to the right side of his face by his eye.

Eyitoluwa told officers he had attended his 8 a.m. class at the University of Texas at Austin, which let out around 9 a.m. He then went to the Rec Center on campus and played basketball, then walked over to the UT Tower. He said he was there praying, then the next thing he knew he was in an ambulance and didn't know why or how he was in the ambulance, according to the affidavit.

Eyitoluwa told officers he was taken to an unknown hospital where they asked him if he had ever been diagnosed as bipolar or manic. He said he was released and then went to his friends' apartment and was talking about God and his purpose when his mother and aunt arrived and took him to an unknown hotel. The arrest affidavit says Eyitoluwa didn't know the name of the hotel or where it was located.

He said he and his mother were staying in one room and his aunt was in another room, but initially, they were all in the room together. His aunt left and Eyitoluwa told officers no one else ever came in the room. He said in the affidavit he went to the bathroom then laid down in bed on his back. He told officers he remembers his mother standing over him and praying, then the next thing he knew he was in the back of a police car.

In the affidavit, when officers told him his mother had passed, he said that he must have killed her because no one else was in the room but he could not remember anything and said he didn't have a reason to kill his mother.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an exam on Kehinde, finding she had deep skull hemorrhaging, hemorrhaging around her neck, cuts to her inner mouth and petechial hemorrhaging. Soft signs of strangulation were also found.

Meghan and Harry to 'skip Christmas with the Queen and spend it with Duchess's mum'

Prince Harry and Meghan may not come back to the UK for Christmas - deciding instead to spend it in America with Meghan’s mum instead.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are heading to California to spend time with Doria Ragland, with Remembrance Sunday thought to be their last joint public engagement.

The trip will come as part of a six-week break away from royal duties to allow the couple and their six month old son Archie to spend some “much-needed” family time together.

Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and their three children are expected at Sandringham after spending 1st Christmas with Kate's family.

If Harry and Meghan were to stay away it would suggest the rift with his brother he confirmed last month in a TV documentary is no further to being healed.

10 year-old girl pregnant after 'being r.a.p.e.d by her teenage brother'

A young girl has accused her brother of r.a.p.e after finding out she is eight months pregnant.

The 10-year-old only found out about her pregnancy when she went to hospital with her mum after complaining of pain in her back and abdomen, local media reports.

The incident is reported to have taken place in the city of Posadas, in the northern Argentina province of Misiones.

When doctors checked the child, it was found that she was near the end of her pregnancy, with just one month to go until her due date.

It's reported that the mum knew nothing of the alleged sexual abuse in her family and was shocked to hear her daughter was expecting.

She is due to give birth before the end of the year.

The girl was taken to the Doctor Fernando Barreyro, in Posadas, where she was told the news.

She allegedly claimed her 15-year-old brother had r.a.p.e.d her.

The case was raised to a special women only police station and it is now being investigated by the minors' judge Marcela Leiva and prosecutor Maria Laura Alvarez.

Special police stations of this kind are geared towards the needs of those who have suffered from gender violence.

Local reports says the victim did not understand what was happening to her and claims she was r.a.p.e.d only once.

The Department of Social Development reported that the brother of the victim, whose name has not been revealed, has been removed from the family.

The girl's mother is to be granted custody over the child and the Justice Department wants the child to continue with her education after the birth.

Ronaldo risked two-year ban for storming out of stadium

Retired footballer Antonio Cassano has declared that Cristiano Ronaldo risked a two-year ban after he left Juventus' stadium early during their 1-0 win against AC Milan.

The former Real Madrid forward was left furious after being hauled off in the 55th minute against the Rossoneri, with the player alleged to have exited the ground in the 87th minute.

Ronaldo, 34, is claimed to have told boss Maurizio Sarri to "go away" before storming down the tunnel after being withdrawn from play for the second match running.

But the ex-Chelsea boss had the last laugh as his replacement Paulo Dybala came off the bench to net the winner.

Things could have ended worse for Ronaldo, with former Milan and Roma striker Cassano revealing he was involved in a similar situation, and was urged to return to the stadium.

Niger man kills creditor during fight over debt

The Niger State Police Command, on Sunday, confirmed the arrest of one Saidu Mohammed of the Gbogan Zugurma village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state for alleged murder.

The suspect was said to have killed one Bala Yahaya of the same address by slamming him on the ground following a dispute that arose from an altercation over an unpaid debt.

It was learnt that the victim’s father, Mallam Yahaya, had earlier reported that his son was in the Gbogan Market to collect an undisclosed debt from the suspect, who had refused to pay.

Punch correspondent also gathered that when the deceased went to the suspect to demand his money, a fight broke out between the two of them.

The suspect reportedly picked up the deceased and slammed him on the bare floor. This action was said to have led to the death of Bala as he collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

In an interview with Punch correspondent, the suspect admitted to owing the deceased an undisclosed sum of money as well as engaging him in the fight, which led to his death.

He explained that he was provoked into fighting as the deceased became rude while demanding his money.

Mohammed said, “He was rude to me in his approach. I know I owed him, but he should not have taken advantage of that to insult me. It was his rude behaviour that provoked me into fighting him, which eventually led to his death.

“Bala did not give me time to explain why I could not raise the money I owe him, rather, he resorted to abusing me and my family and we started fighting. I regret that this led to his death.”

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect had confessed to the crime.

Abubakar said the victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Mokwa, where he was confirmed dead, adding that the matter had been charged.

Family continue search as 85-year-old woman goes missing after church service in Ondo

The family of an 85-year-old woman, Adunni Adelusi, has become distraught following her disappearance after a combined monthly service at the Deeper Life Bible Church’s campground in the FUTA North area of Akure.

Punch Metro gathered that Adelusi went missing on September 8 after the church directed its members to follow another route after the service.

It was learnt that the church was reconstructing the road leading to the campground and directed its members to pass through a nearby village to their various destinations.

However, Adelusi, who is suffering from amnesia, went missing after passing through the village.

Adelusi’s cousin, Asake Akingbohungbe, who spoke to Punch Metro, said all efforts to find her had yielded no fruit.

She said, “We went for a combined service at the Futa North gate area of Akure and after the service, she passed through a village at the back of the church, because the church was renovating the main road and she just went into the village and since that time, we have been searching for her.

“Someone told us that they saw her at the market; later, another person said she saw her at the Ondo garage and she was later seen somewhere around Adebowale, and I have been to those places to search for her from time to  time,  but we have not seen her.

“A particular boy that I showed her picture said he saw her at the Ondo garage but we did not find her there; and when I went there three days ago, a woman, who was giving her food, said she asked her if she was mummy Funlola, but she said she was Mama Bendel. For her to forget her house, I thought she could also forget her name.

“We gave her photographs to our district churches in the town that any member that sees her can contact us or the police; we have gone to all the churches, hospitals and mortuaries to search for her and we have not seen her.”

Punch Metro learnt that the matter was reported at the Okuta Elerinla Police Station.

68 year-old pensioner lands in court for performing a s.e.x act on himself in a public swimming pool

A pensioner was caught performing a s.e.x act on himself in a public swimming pool in what has been described as a "moment of madness".

Clive Harrison was in the water at Jubilee2, Newcastle, when a female swimmer caught him in the act with his shorts pulled down.

The court heard how the 68-year-old couldn't give a reason why he did it, Stoke on Trent Live reports.

North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard Harrison was a member at the centre run by Newcastle Borough Council and had used the pool on a regular basis for 18 months prior to the offence.

Harrison, of Penkhull in Stoke-on-Trent, pleaded guilty to committing an act outraging public decency. He told a probation officer he had not returned to the swimming pool since the June incident.

Prosecutor Christy Woods said: “A female swimmer entered the pool and began to swim. She went down to the deep end. She described seeing the defendant there. She could see his shorts were pulled down and he was masturbating.

“She asked him to stop. He said sorry. She alerted the lifeguard. The defendant exited the pool shortly afterwards.

“He was interviewed by police and accepted he had committed the act. He said the pool was almost empty – there were around six other adults present and no children.

"The defendant accepted the act had been for sexual gratification but could not give a reason why he did it.”

The court heard the retired engineer lives with his partner of 35 years.

Meghan Markle did take baby Archie to New York to watch Serena Williams compete in the US Open, the tennis star has revealed.

The Duchess of Sussex flew across the Atlantic for the final of the tournament in September, when Archie was four-months-old.
