South African artistes protest against Burna Boy

Some artistes in South Africa under the aegis of Tshwane Collective have sent a petition to the minister of arts and culture, kicking against the inclusion of Burna Boy in two concerts scheduled for 23 and 24 November.

The Africans Unite concerts, a response to recent xenophobia in the country is organised by Play Network Africa, based in Nigeria, in partnership with Phambili Media SA and appears to enjoy the support of South Africa’s department of arts and culture.

It will feature, along with Burna Boy, artistes such as Kwesa and Jidenna. The first concert will hold at Hillcrest Quarry in Cape Town on 23 November and the second at Sun Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.

But the Tshwane Collective questioned the exclusion of local artists and Burna Boy’s invitation to perform at the concert, accusing the African Giant of inciting hatred against South Africa, in the wake of the xenophobic attacks.

“Whoever may have deemed that the country needs a PR exercise of this nature would have done so largely as a result of the callous, misleading and unwarranted incitement by this very artist. Not only did he spread falsehoods through his extensive platform, he literally incited violence and hate. He further promised to inflict his own violence on locals before giving your government an ultimatum which you seem to have received and succumbed to”, the group said in the letter to Nathi Mthethwa, minister of art and culture.

Truly, in a series of tweets in September, Burna Boy urged black foreigners living in SA to defend and protect themselves against xenophobic attackers. In a now deleted tweet, he also told SA rapper AKA to beef up his security, before giving him the middle finger.

He promised to never set foot in SA again until the government “wakes the f*ck up and really performs a miracle”.

Burna Boy, unaware of the protest, announced on 9 November he will contribute a portion of the proceeds from the concert to the victims of xenophobic attacks.

“I really hope we can all keep contributing in our own way to make the world a better and safer place for each other. Africans unite, it’s bigger than all of us,” he wrote on Twitter.
The department of culture has however distanced itself from the concert and said that it’s logo had been used “erroneously” on posters advertising the event, Times Live reported.

“The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture wishes to dispel the untrue information currently being spread on social media, that it is funding the Africans Unite Concert featuring the artist known as Burna Boy. It is unfortunate that the department’s logo was erroneously used on the poster advertising the event,” spokesperson Asanda Magaqa told TshisaLIVE.

Asanda said that the department had not allocated or granted funding for the event.

Senate again proposes death by hanging for hate speech

The Senate on Tuesday once again proposed death by hanging for anybody found guilty of hate speech in the country.

This followed the first reading of a Bill to set up an agency to prohibit hate speech in the country.

The Bill titled: “National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speeches (Establishment, etc) Bill, 2019” is being sponsored by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate who is also the Senator representing Niger North, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.

It could be recalled that the Senate had last week introduced legislation to regulate the social media and also to punish what it termed “abuse of social media” with a three-year jail term or N150,000 option of fine or both.

The social media regulation Bill titled: “Protection from internet falsehood and manipulations bill, 2019” was sponsored by the Senator representing Niger East, Mohammed Sani Musa.

It could be recalled that Senator Abdullahi had sponsored the same Hate Speech Bill during the Eight Senate but the toxic Bill which attracted widespread condemnation from Nigerians never returned for second reading in the upper before the eight-session of the National Assembly elapsed

The Bill had prescribed death by hanging for any person found guilty of any form of hate speech that results in the death of another person.

It also sought the establishment of an Independent National Commission for Hate Speeches.

The Bill as presented to the Eight Senate had proposed that the commission would enforce hate speech laws across the country, and ensure the “elimination” of hate speech.

For offences such as harassment on grounds of ethnicity or race, the Bill had proposed that the offender shall be sentenced to “not less than a five-year jail term or a fine of not less than N10 million or both.”

Man, grandchildren die of suspected food poisoning

A man, Moses Oguebuka, and two grandchildren, were on Tuesday found dead in Okwudor in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.

The development, Punch correspondent learnt, caused tension in the community as the police took over the investigation.

A community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Punch correspondent that the man and his grandchildren ate dinner together.

He said the bodies of Moses, who was a widower, and his eight and 11-year-old grandchildren had been evacuated by the police.

The source said, “Their lifeless bodies were found in a room in the morning. It was the man’s mistress, who had come to check on him, who found the corpses. She quickly raised the alarm, which attracted the villagers.

“We don’t know what actually happened, but food poisoning is suspected. The deceased ate dinner together and were found dead the next morning.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, confirmed the incident and said investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths had commenced.

'Husband's friends r.a.p.e.d me while he laughed so I shot him in head and buried him in garden'

Linda Couch was still a teenager when she met Walter at a wedding reception.

She was instantly smitten by the clean-cut handsome man and "couldn't believe" he wanted to date her.

So when Walter proposed just a few months into their relatonship, Linda jumped at the chance to become his wife when she was just 16.

Speaking to History's I Am A Killer Linda said: "I was still a teen and I thought I was in love. Now, I wish I'd never met him."

The teen bride says the start of the marriage was happy but she claims as soon as she fell pregnant with the couple's first child, Roxanne, things dramatically changed.

Linda said: "He pushed me down the stairs while I was pregnant with Roxanne and when I brought her home he made it clear that all the parenting was down to me.

"He would get angry every time she cried and the slightest thing she would do, he would beat her."

Walter's violence is something Roxanne remembers with heartbreaking clarity.

Now living in Ghana, Roxanne said: "My father had a temper than would go from zero to 80 in a split second. When I was a kid, I looked just like my mum and that wasn't what my father wanted.

"I wasn't pretty enough, my grades weren't good enough, I was never enough for him.

"I would be beaten every day. I got used to it, I just had to deal with it. He portrayed being such a loving father but that was just for show.

"It was an illusion that he created for everyone else. He would hit her and sometimes he would throw her up against the wall."

And then one night, Linda says things took a very dark turn.

Walter regularly enjoyed nights out with his friends and Linda remembers being woken up one night by all his pals in the bedroom she shared with her husband.

She said: "He said they wanted a part of me. I was r.a.p.e.d by all his friends and Walt just watched and laughed.

"I felt trapped. Any time his friends came over, that would happen. Slowly but surely he was bringing me to a breakdown."

Then, the young mum of three thought she had a way out - she had been accepted onto a college course, something Walter wasn't happy about.

Linda said: "College was going to be my escape because I would have been there and away from him.

"It angered him and he wanted me to quit the programme and stay at home with him.

"That was the first time in my marriage that I said no to my husband."

The couple argued about it and Linda claims Walter stormed out of the bedroom and went to grab a newly bought gun.

She says they struggled and she kicked him in the groin before grabbing hold of the gun.

Then Linda claims as she stumbled backwards, she tripped and the gun went off, shooting Walter in the head.

But instead of contacting the police immediately, what Linda did next was truly chilling.

Her trial heard that not only did she dig up the couple's vegetable patch for a shallow grave for her husband - she made her three children help her.

Linda has always insisted that what happened on that October night in 1984 was an accident and she did not mean to kill her abusive husband.

But the judge and jury did not agree and she has been in jail for his murder ever since.

Linda was sentenced to life for aggravated murder and has so  far been refused parole seven times.

Her next parole hearing is in 2020.

Revealed: Stowaway who fell and died in a £2.3m London home was a Nairobi airport cleaner who dreamed of a better life in UK

The stowaway who died after falling from an aeroplane and narrowly missing a sunbather in a London garden was a Kenyan airport cleaner, it emerged yesterday.

At the end of his shift, Paul Manyasi slipped inside the landing gear compartment of a UK-bound Boeing 787 at Jomo Kenyatta international airport in Nairobi.

The 29-year-old fell 3,500ft when the pilot of the Kenya Airways plane approached Heathrow and prepared to land by lowering the wheels.

Mr Manyasi, who dreamed of starting a better life in Britain, was already dead when he fell into the back garden of a £2.3milion home in Clapham, south London, on June 30.

Neighbours said he missed a man who was relaxing in the blazing sunshine by just a yard and cracked the paving. One witness said his body looked like a 'block of ice'.

Mr Manyasi was paid £2.25 a day by a company called Colnet to clean the Kenyan airport.

His girlfriend, who also worked as a cleaner at the airport, said she last saw Mr Manyasi when he was assigned to clean an outside area of the passenger terminal, while she cleaned the inside.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told Sky News: 'I was with him in the morning. The last time I saw him, we were at work, he suddenly disappeared, nobody knows where he went.

'I called his phone and it was off. When we came in the morning of the following day the supervisor called us and told us there is somebody missing.'

Mr Manyasi and his girlfriend had been together for two years and had been planning to start a family.

'Paul was a nice guy,' she said. 'He was just a jovial person. I just liked him the way he was. I just feel like I lost someone who I loved so much - yes, I miss him.'

She believes her boyfriend made an impulsive decision to board the aircraft that day.

Mr Manyasi shared a room in a run-down shack with a man called Patrick in a slum called Mukuru Kwa Njenga - an overcrowded neighbourhood of around 500,000 people.

He was the eldest of six children born to parents Issac and Janet, who live in a mud-walled house in Kakamega County in western Kenya.

Mrs Manyasi said: 'I didn't know where to start or where to end, I don't know who to ask. Paul's phone isn't working.

'I would really love him to be buried here, but the expenses...It's just too expensive.'

His father added: 'Let him stay [in the UK]. Those are too many expenses. Soil is just soil.'

When the plane landed at Heathrow Airport, a bag, water and food were discovered in the landing gear compartment.

Stowaway attempts on aeroplanes are incredibly risky, with only a small number surviving the perilous journey.

Those involved often die from extreme cold when the plane is at altitude or fall to their deaths when the landing gear compartment is opened. Others are crushed by the landing gear folding away into the plane after take-off.

Mum-to-be loses her first baby after intruder 'batters her during a break-in'

A mum-to-be lost her first baby after an intruder allegedly battered her when he forced his way into her home.

Abbie Nesbit, 23, from Runcorn, Cheshire, said a thug broke into her house and flung her across a table in a rage which led to her water breaking when she was 13 weeks pregnant.

Medics found no liquid around the baby in the coming weeks, and Abbie gave birth to her stillborn son Jamie at 20 weeks.

She was distraught to find her attacker was only charged with assault because Jamie died at less than 24 weeks.

Now Abbie wants to change the law to protect other mums who lose their babies in brutal attacks.

She said: “It won’t help us, but at least baby Jamie will have a legacy forever.

“We want to protect women and unborn babies.

“Who is someone else to prevent that pregnancy from going any further.”

Jamie was buried in a tiny white coffin, scattered with blue and white flowers and carried by his dad.

Abbie’s attacker was charged with assault, but as Jamie was less than 24 weeks’ gestation he couldn’t be linked to the death.

At the time Abbie was too devastated to go to court, and the case has now been discontinued by the CPS.

“I had a scan before the attack, and his brain was perfect,” Abbie said.

“After the incident my waters were leaking.

“How is this allowed?”
Now the family is campaigning to change the law.

Currently thugs who assault pregnant women - and cause them to lose their babies - can be charged with child destruction, if the baby is after 24 weeks gestation.

Dad Luke, who launched the petition, said: “How many more people have to go through this before something is done about it?

“You go to funerals and the coffins are usually massive, but when you see one that’s that small it hits home.

“This law needs to be in place to protect our children.

“We always say how much our children mean, and even the unborn ones need our protection.

“It’s devastated our family - we’ve lost a family member, we’ve lost so many things we could have done together.

“It would also help victims of domestic violence, I want to give them a voice.”

But the family are clear they don’t want it to impact the abortion law.

“It’s got nothing to do with that as far as I’m concerned,” Abbie added.

“If you plan to keep a pregnancy who is someone else to prevent that.”

Cheshire Police confirmed officers attended a domestic disturbance in Runcorn at 5am on August 11.

Police said a man was subsequently charged with two counts of assault by beating in connection with incident.

"The case against him has since been discontinued by the CPS," a spokesman added added.

Chimpanzees attacking and killing children in Uganda

Chimpanzees are attacking people in Uganda, part of a disturbing trend going on in the country that has led to crop loss and even death.

National Geographic reports that the problem has been going on for several years, citing an incident in 2014 that saw a chimp fatally attack a 2-year-old child, stealing the baby from his mother.

“A chimpanzee came in the garden as I was digging,” Ntegeka Semata said in an interview with the publication. She noted that her four young children were with her and as she turned her back to get water, the chimp took her child by the hand and ran off.

The child screamed, which caused the other villagers to pay attention and chase after him, but it was too late. “It broke off the arm, hurt him on the head, and opened the stomach and removed the kidneys,” Semata continued, adding that the child died on the way to the local hospital.

Semata and her husband lived in the village for more than three years and built a bamboo fence around their tiny backyard to prevent the chimps from getting in. “I am scared all the time that other chimpanzees might come back,” Semata said in the interview.

The fence was no match for the chimps, who kept returning and eventually Ntegeka and her husband were forced to leave their house by the end of 2017, moving to a rented room three miles away. “I feel like we’ve been cast back into poverty,” she said.

Since the 2014 incident in Muhororo, there have been several other attacks on children. Three deaths have been reported and six additional injuries or escapes have occurred as a result of the attacks.

It's unclear why the chimps are attacking the young children, but the publication mentioned "habitat loss" for the mammals throughout the western part of the country.

"The native forest that once covered these hillsides is now largely gone, much of it cut during recent decades for timber and firewood, and cleared to plant crops," according to the National Geographic story.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is aware of the issue. On its website, it notes that chimps can "be aggressive and unfriendly, particularly towards unrelated individuals."

In comments obtained by National Geographic, UWA Executive Director Sam Mwandha said recently that it is "hard" or even "impossible" to prevent clearing of the areas. “We can only plead; we can only educate and hope that people will appreciate them," he added.

Just like APC, Edo PDP crisis also deepens, Ize-Iyamu suspended

Just like APC, Edo state PDP crisis has also gone deep. The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  yesterday suspended its former governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from its activities until further notice.

The party, in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Chris Nehikhare, said that the temporary suspension was informed by his unwillingness to confirm or refute his rumoured defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It explained that the suspension remained until he “acknowledges, accepts and addresses the issue of his decamping to APC.”

According to the statement, “In the last few days, the Edo PDP has been inundated with calls and inquiries regarding the stories trending both in print and social media as it concerns one of our leaders, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

“The party leadership has patiently waited to hear or read his reaction to confirm or deny the stories, but to no avail.

“We boast of being a party of men and women of integrity and high moral standing. It is a brand we have earned and wish to maintain.

“As a result of the ‘uneasy quiet’ from our dear Pastor and the impression our silence will send to our teeming supporters and followers, Edo PDP is left with no option but to announce the exclusion of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from all PDP related activities with immediate effect, until he acknowledges, accepts and addresses the issue of his decamping to APC. This decision has been taken without prejudice.”

There was panic among residents of Amadi Street in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Sunday after a strange woman disappeared with two kids at a playground located in the area.

The kids were identified as three-year-old Goodnews Friday and one-year-old Prosper Solomon.

Speaking on how his daughter was taken away, Goodnews’ father, Nelson Friday, said the incident happened after the family returned from church around 2.00 p.m.

He said on Tuesday that the children were at the playground when an unidentified woman came and lured Prosper away, while his daughter followed them.

Nelson explained that a young lady, who saw the strange woman with the two children, did not raise the alarm because she thought that the woman was related to one of the kids.

APC America hints 'humiliation' on Osinbajo is due to 2023 elections

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United States have thrown their weight behind Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, kicking against any plans to ridicule him by some people in the country.

The leaders who were reacting to some of the news making the round in Nigeria said the major achievements of the Buhari administration would have been impossible without the Vice President.

Dr. Baba Adam, former US leader of Pro National Conference Organisations, PRONACO and one of Nigeria’s most prominent citizens in the US said the contributions of the Vice President should be applauded.

“This is just a reminder that the clock cannot be turned back. The very best of this administration’s initiatives be it Homegrown School Feeding Program, N-Power, GEEP Programs, Niger-Delta Peace initiatives, Energizing Education and Market Initiatives, etc came out of the Office of the Vice President and not at the President’s Office or the Ministries, Department and Agencies,” he said.

The Borno state citizen who is a former chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) also waded into the decision by the US government to deny Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti visa to the United States. He said Fayemi was denied the USA visa like hundreds of thousands of other Nigerians.

“So you want to be the next Nigerian Vice President? He quizzed. “You as a person from the South West – through your in-action you may have endorsed the ongoing insults by the Cabal on VP Pst. Prof. Osinbajo, SAN, GCON… and remember he is highly regarded at the White House – so they are sending you and others ‘clear shot across the bow,” he said.

He said what happened to Governor Fayemi is just the beginning, “if you do not heed this warning – next – worldwide freezing of you and your friends assets,” he said.

He noted that the ‘body bag’ comments of Governor Nasir El-Rufai have not gone unnoticed by the US and UK authorities. “Again by association, remember your associates ‘Body Bags’ rantings,” he added.

Similarly, renowned US judge and APC leader, Dele Alade, said politicians should leave the President and Vice President out of their games, so they can focus on governance.

“Any humiliation of the VP or Asiwaju Tinubu or other leaders will not be acceptable. All these shenanigans are because of 2023,” he said.

Adding that “Kayode Fayemi has to be very careful. VP Osinbajo has done a great job. We know it. Nigerians know it. Rather than helping Buhari/Osinbajo concentrate on delivering better governance to our people, some crazy elements and enemies of progress are bent on destroying the gains made so far and paralyzing governance.

“Tens of millions of Nigerians are suffering because of this. Only those lazy government officials who live on government and/or on government welfare (and not on their ingenuity) are unconcerned. We’re watching and we will hold them accountable.”

Stop display of naked power and release Sowore now, Soyinka tells DSS

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has warned the Department of State Services, DSS, to stop the charade and display of crude and naked power by releasing the Convener, #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore still being kept in their custody despite meeting his stringent bail conditions.

Operatives of the DSS had on Tuesday fired gun shots and used pepper spray to disperse protesters who were gathered around the service headquarters to demand for the release of Sowore.

Soyinka, in a statement he personally issued late Tuesday night also said it should become abundantly clear by now that Civil Society Organisations, committed to the entrenchment of the Rule of Law and the defence of fundamental human rights must come together.

“This is not a new cry. They must meet, debate, and embark on a binding pact of tactical responses whenever these two pillars of civilized society are besieged by the demolition engines of state security agencies. The sporadic, uncoordinated responses as in the case of  Omoyele Sowore, the absence of a solid strategy, ready to be activated against any threat — these continue to enable these agencies in their mission to enthrone a pattern of conduct that openly scoffs at the role of the judiciary in national life.

“Result? A steady entrenchment of the cult of impunity in the dealings of state with the citizenry – both individuals and organizations. The level of arrogance has crossed even the most permissive thresholds. It is heart-warming to witness the determined efforts of  “Concerned Nigerians” in defence of these rights,” he said.

According to him, predictably, the ham-fisted response of the DSS continued to defy the rulings of the court. adding that the weaponry of lies having been exploded in their faces, they resorted to violence, including, as now reported, the firing of live bullets.

“Why the desperation? The answer is straightforward: the government never imagined that the bail conditions for Sowore would ever be met. Even Sowore’s supporters despaired. The bail test was clearly set to fail!  It took a while for the projection to be reversed, and it left the DSS floundering.

“That agency then resorted to childish, cynical lies. It claimed that the ordered release was no longer in their hands, but in Sowore’s end of the transfer. The lie being exploded, what next? Bullets of course,” he said.

Soyinka said such a development was not only callous and inhuman, but criminal, as it escalated an already untenable defiance by the state.

“As I remarked from the onset, this is an act of government insecurity and paranoia that merely defeats its real purpose. And now – bullets?  This is no longer comical. Perhaps it is necessary to remind this government of precedents in other lands where, even years after the event, those who trampled on established human rights that generate homicidal impunity are called to account for abuse of power and crimes against humanity.

“The protests for Sowore’s release go beyond only acts of solidarity, they are manifestations of the judgment and authority of courts of law, under which this nation is supposedly governed. Either it is, or it isn’t. The answer stares us all in the face. The principles that now fall under threat implicate more than one individual under travail. They involve the very entitlement of a nation to lay claim to membership of any democratic, humanized union,” he said.

The Nobel Laureate said “Enough of this charade, nothing more than a display of crude, naked power. Release Omoyele Sowore and save us further embarrassment in the regard of the world. An apology to the nation by the DSS and the judiciary would also not be out of place. It would go some distance in redeeming the image of an increasingly fascistic agency and reduce the swelling tide of public disillusionment.

“Let the rule of law reign. Failing that, have the honesty to proclaim the death of ordered society. Then we’ll all know just where we stand.”

Women born without limbs become best friends after feeling alone in the world

Two women who are missing limbs have become best friends through their comparable hardship.

Jlissa Austin, 31, who was born without arms, knees and with only seven toes, met Chassidy Young, 32, who lives with Tetra-Amelia syndrome, after learning each other's life story through a documentary.

Tetra-Amelia syndrome is a rare congenital disorder that has left Chassidy without hands and very short legs

They have since become best friends through their very rare similarities.

The pair decided to meet in person for and Chassidy travelled across Texas, in the US, from her home in Dallas, to Jlissa, who lives in Houston.

Chassidy said: "I saw Jlissa’s story and I got so emotional.

"I was like, I can’t be the only person on this whole earth missing arms. Where they at?!

"And then Jlissa confirmed there’s actually somebody out there who shares the same experience as me.

"I was just like, I have to find her.

"When you don’t see people like you, it feels like you’re the only person in the world that’s like that.

"Everybody needs an identity. I’m so happy to have met Jlissa because I now have somebody to identify with.

"You know, we have our family and we have our friends. But it’s those moments where you need somebody like you because we have our own struggles that they could never relate to.”

Some 30 years ago, doctors predicted Jlissa would never be able to lead a normal life and, to this day, she is still unsure of what caused her abnormalities.

But Jlissa has certainly proved her doubters wrong – learning to use her feet when conducting everyday tasks like brushing her teeth and texting on her phone.

She said: "Most of the questions I get are basically, 'How do you eat?', 'how do you write?', 'who takes you to the restroom?', 'who puts your make-up on?'.

"My condition hasn’t affected anything in my life.

"There are so many people that aren’t able to be themselves because they are scared of the world.

"You need to be yourself and be thankful. That’s what me and Chassidy are doing now."

David Beckham has been spotted behind the wheel for the first time in six months after his driving ban was lifted.

The former footballer, 44, took his Land Rover Defender for a spin in London on Tuesday morning with daughter Harper in the passenger seat.

The dad-of-four was stripped of his licence back in May after being caught with his phone on his knee as he drove his £100K Bentley.

District Judge Catherine Moore also gave David a £750 fine and added 6 points to his licence for the offence, which happened last November.

At the time he already had six points from two previous speeding offences.

Nicki Minaj threatens to boycott Instagram if her likes are hidden

Nicki Minaj has threatened to stop using Instagram if bosses start hiding how many users have ‘liked’ her photos.

Earlier this week, Instagram's CEO announced the company would begin testing a new feature that stops likes from showing up on certain accounts.

Users will reportedly no longer be able to see how many users have liked a photo, unless they are the ones posting it themselves.

Global rapping sensation Nicki, 36, who currently has 107 million followers on Instagram , took to Twitter to voice her frustration on the news.

She told her 20.6 million followers that she would boycott the app following the new trial, writing: "I’m not posting on IG after this week cuz they removing the likes.

Nicki went on to blast the social media service's decision online.

She shared: "They took away your engagements in the first place by disrupting the algorithm. Then they boost it to show you how much better this new iPhone is.

"I mean how much better this new IG feature is... Lemme guess, u don’t believe your iPhone messes up when the new iPhone comes out…"

The Superbass hitmaker slammed the company's intentions and insisted situations like this are why "musicians make no money".

She also hinted at a conspiracy as she believed the "labels and streaming services knew what to say to pacify us."

The truth behind Kylie Jenner & Drake's romance rumours

Kylie Jenner and Drake sparked rumours that they're dating after they started spending more time together recently.

But as Kylie's camp rushed to dispel the rumours and reports that the makeup mogul is spending more time with her ex - what's really going on in Kylie's love life?

Drake, 33, has known the Kardashian-Jenner Klan for years and even performed at Kylie's 16th birthday party.

Rumours of them being a couple first ignited when Kylie recently attended the pop icon's birthday bash in Hollywood and it was reported that the pair "had an attraction".

Although some sources attempted to shut down rumours and insisted to the publication that Kylie and Drake's relationship is just "friendly", another insider told People the pair have been hanging out "romantically".

One report suggested that they got involved months ago and decided to keep it under the radar because of Drake's previous feud with her brother-in-law Kanye West .

The Sun claimed Kylie "wanted to keep the news from her sister Kim Kardashian who is married to West.

However, there's no suggestion that there was any overlap with Kylie's ex-boyfriend Travis Scott, the father of her daughter Stormi, who she split from this year.

Reports of their suspected blossoming romance had also reportedly upset Travis.

Hollywood Life claimed Travis would "feel betrayed" if Kylie and Drake's relationship actually became something more romantic.

It was then claimed that Drake dumped her because he is more of a "free spirit" and didn't want to be tied down.

20-year old Nigerian charged for killing his mom in the US

Austin police say a 20-year-old has been arrested and charged in the killing of his mother in a downtown hotel.

Eyitoluwa Olayeye, a Nigerian, has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.

The investigation began after Austin 9-1-1 received a call just before 4:45 a.m. on November 6 about a disturbance in a room on the 5th floor at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in the 800 block of Neches Street. ATCEMS responded to a call of someone screaming in the room and later updates said it sounded like a fight in the room and a woman screaming.

Officers arrived at the hotel and had to force entry into the room, where they found 48-year-old Kehinde Olayeye lying face down and unresponsive on the floor and a man, later identified as her son Eyitoluwa, lying on her back with his arm wrapped around her body. According to an arrest affidavit, a bloody pillow was also found in the room.

Austin-Travis County EMS examined the victim and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:12 a.m.

Eyitoluwa's aunt told officers she and Kehinde had flown into Austin from Georgia the night before to visit Eyitoluwa. She said she and Kehinde had received a call from Eyitoluwa the afternoon before and that Eyitoluwa was rambling and saying "I pray that God brings us together," says the arrest affidavit.

Eyitoluwa's friends took the phone and told them he had been saying he "had found his purpose in life" and that he apparently "had touched someone inappropriately at the library on campus and had been asked to leave." His friends told them Eyitoluwa was being transported to the hospital by EMS for an evaluation, says the affidavit.

The aunt said she and Kehinde decided to get on a flight at the time and come to Austin, and Kehinde received a call from Dell Seton Medical Center asking if Eyitoluwa's family had a history of mental illness. Eyitoluwa's friends later called to inform them Eyitoluwa had been released from the hospital and that they would be taking him to their apartment. They also told Kehinde that Eyitoluwa was saying he wanted to leave school, according to the affidavit.

The aunt and mother landed in Austin around 11 p.m. and rented a car to pick up Eyitoluwa, the aunt saying he seemed happy according to the affidavit. The three decided to get a hotel downtown and after stopping at Eyitoluwa's apartment for his laptop, drove to the Holiday Inn Express, arriving around 2 a.m. Eyitoluwa got two rooms, one for him and his mother and one for his aunt.

The aunt said Eyitoluwa told them the hospital was trying to hold him because of a mental issue, but he just told them what they wanted to hear so they would let him go. She said she noticed he was really hyped up and told him to get some sleep. She told officers she and Kehinde wanted to take Eyitoluwa back with them to Georgia.

Officers spoke with the security guard who called 911. He said he was making his rounds around 4:30 a.m. when he heard loud voices like arguing coming from the room. He told officers he knocked on the door and asked the guests to keep it down, but the noises got louder.

A witness told officers that around 4:15 a.m. he heard a woman running down the hall banging on doors and screaming, possibly saying "Let me in" and what sounded like someone being dragging past his room.

Eyitoluwa was transported to the Homicide office where officers said they observed wounds on his left elbow and inside of his left bicep, a bruise on the inside of his right bicep and swelling to the right side of his face by his eye.

Eyitoluwa told officers he had attended his 8 a.m. class at the University of Texas at Austin, which let out around 9 a.m. He then went to the Rec Center on campus and played basketball, then walked over to the UT Tower. He said he was there praying, then the next thing he knew he was in an ambulance and didn't know why or how he was in the ambulance, according to the affidavit.

Eyitoluwa told officers he was taken to an unknown hospital where they asked him if he had ever been diagnosed as bipolar or manic. He said he was released and then went to his friends' apartment and was talking about God and his purpose when his mother and aunt arrived and took him to an unknown hotel. The arrest affidavit says Eyitoluwa didn't know the name of the hotel or where it was located.

He said he and his mother were staying in one room and his aunt was in another room, but initially, they were all in the room together. His aunt left and Eyitoluwa told officers no one else ever came in the room. He said in the affidavit he went to the bathroom then laid down in bed on his back. He told officers he remembers his mother standing over him and praying, then the next thing he knew he was in the back of a police car.

In the affidavit, when officers told him his mother had passed, he said that he must have killed her because no one else was in the room but he could not remember anything and said he didn't have a reason to kill his mother.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an exam on Kehinde, finding she had deep skull hemorrhaging, hemorrhaging around her neck, cuts to her inner mouth and petechial hemorrhaging. Soft signs of strangulation were also found.
