We had s.e.x less than 3 times a year.. court documents show shocking revelation Halle Berry made during daughter's custody battle with ex, Aubry

Halle Berry made explosive claims about her ex Gabriel Aubry, accusing him of incest, racism and emotional abuse during their fight over custody of daughter Nahla, back at the turn of the decade.

New details have come to light about the case through documents obtained by Radar.com which were originally sealed by courts.

In the explosive legal documents from the 2011 case, the actress made several shocking claims about her ex.

Berry, 53, and Aubry engaged in a bitter public custody battle after their split in 2010. The couple began dating in 2005 and welcomed daughter Nahla in March 2008.

Among Berry's claims about Aubry: She reported he used racial epithets during their relationship, in addition to displaying bias by refusing to recognize their daughter as biracial.

She also discussed Gabriel's past sexual relationship with a member of his family, contending that the emotional damage from that situation ruined her and Aubry's sex life.

'After the first six months of our relationship, our sex life diminished and after one year we had sex less than three times per year,' Halle testified, according to legal documents.

Berry said that Aubry failed to deal with their issues.

'[Gabriel] refused to either recognize or accept responsibility for these issues. Instead, he criticized my body in ways which are very demeaning to women … I finally convinced [him] to go to a joint therapist to address these issues.'

She claimed Aubry admitted to having a sexual relationship with a member of his family during the time he was bouncing between foster homes.

n her deposition Berry said the relationship went on 'for years' until the unidentified partner ended things.

Berry further accused Aubry of having a history of mental health issues, suggesting he was unfit to be Nahla's primary parent.

PDP describes Hate Speech Bill as unconstitutional, undemocratic and barbarous

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the Hate Speech Prohibition Bill in the National Assembly, as “unconstitutional, undemocratic and a barbarous”.

The PDP said the bill seeking stringent punishment including death by hanging as penalty were deliberately hazy and nebulous with the malicious intention to victimize innocent Nigerians.

The party gave the rejection in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan said that the bill was targeted at official extermination of voice of dissent and perceived opposition.

He said that Nigeria already had enough constitutional provisions and extant laws to safeguard a sane and healthy public expression space, adding that such law could not find its way in Nigeria.

He recalled that the bill was rejected in the Senate in 2018, only for it to be reintroduced.

“Our party holds that if allowed to pass, the hate speech prohibition bill, with its savage provisions, would destroy our democratic order, strip our constitutional provisions, the rights of citizens and usher in a full-blown despotism in Nigeria.”

Ologbondiyan advised sponsors of the bill to retrace their steps and withdraw the bill.

“The PDP also charges the National Assembly to protect our nation by throwing away the bill.

“If anything, NASS should use its legislative instruments to strengthen our institutions and authorities vested with regulation of public expression in line with the provisions of the 1999 constitution (as amended).”

3 men who kidnapped Oniba of Iba sentenced to death

Three kidnappers who kidnapped a Lagos monarch, the Oniba of Iba, Oba Yushau Goriola Oseni some years ago have been sentenced to death by the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos.

The conviction was secured by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Justice.

In a landmark ruling presided over by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja on Wednesday, and handed down in an hour long proceedings, the trial judge found all the accused guilty of all the charges brought against them.

The defendants were charged for the offences of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and kidnapping.

The convicts are, Duba Furejo, alias General Cuba, (who is now paralyzed), Reuben Anthony and Yerin Fresh.

The Prosecution team led by Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary Ministry of Justice, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey presented seven witnesses and tendered 13 exhibits which were admitted by the court.

The trial judge said she found all the convicts guilty of the charges brought against them.

According to her, “I believe the offence of conspiracy, attempted murder, armed robbery and kidnapping leveled against the accused. I therefore find them guilty as charged. This is the judgement of the court,” he said.

However, Ms Shitta- Bey argued that maximum sentence commensurate to the offence should be given. She explained, “A heinous crime of kidnapping does not only terrorize the victims, but also the society, as nobody is safe. Consequently a statement should be made that Lagos State has zero tolerance for kidnapping, murder and armed robbery.”

She gave the orders thus; “For causing the death of Sunday Okanlawon and Joseph Okeke, a security guard, you are sentenced to death. I hereby sentence the offenders to life imprisonment for shooting Olori Abosede Goriola in the abdomen. Conspiracy to murder; 10 years. Conspiracy to commit kidnap; 10 years. Armed robbery; life imprisonment. Kidnapping; 21 years imprisonment.”

“This is the ruling of the court, sentence to run concurrently,” she said.

El-Rufai will never be president of Nigeria, Bishop of Zaria blows hot

The Bishop of Zaria, Rt Rev Abiodun Ogunyemi has denounced the Archbishop of Kaduna and the general secretary of the Anglican Consultative Council for paying a “humiliating visit” to Governor Nasir El-Rufai to apologise for criticising him over a plan to demolish the St George’s Cathedral in the university town.

Ogunyemi said the apology was all an attempt to make the governor look good in preparation for a possible presidential ambition in 2023.

But to Ogunyemi, the apology boiled to nought, according to a statement he published on the church’s website, zariadiocese.org.ng.

“The governor should know that he will never be president of Nigeria. I speak prophetically as a servant of the living God,” the Bishop of Zaria said. Zaria is the hometown of El-Rufai.

“Let fake Christians and religious spies placed in our church by a particular religion be aware of the consequences of their actions because heaven is watching. May the Lord expose these spies in our midst on Jesus Name. In fact their actions now show very clearly that they are working for an interest against the church. The Lord in His mercies will raise help to deliver His church from fake Christians, fake converts and novices,” the bishop said.

The bishops that drew the ire of Ogunyomi are the Most Rev. Ali Buba Lamido, Archbishop of Kaduna Province and the Bishop of Wusasa, and the former Archbishop of Kaduna and current ACC leader, Dr. Josiah Idowu-Fearon and the general secretary of the Anglican Consultative Council.

Ogunyemi said the Anglican leaders have placed loyalty to Muslim politicians over loyalty to the Church of Nigeria.

He singled out Lamido for special venom, accusing him of compromising Christian standards and the truth and he and Idowu-Fearon for ”their intrigues with the government of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

According to a report written by George Conger in Anglican.ink , the dispute arose over the attempted seizure by the Kaduna State government of St George’s Cathedral in Zaria.

On 20 Sept 2019 the Church of Nigeria’s Diocese of Zaria reported it had received a notice to vacate the 110 year old cathedral within seven days by order of Governor El-Rufai. The Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA) said it would use the historic church land to expand the Sabo market.

However, following protests by the diocese and the Christian Association of Nigeria the state backed down from its plans.

However on 12 Nov 2019 Archbishop Lamido led other church leaders to El-Rufai to apologize for the criticism of the diocese and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

A statement issued by the Kaduna State government said the archbishop “has apologised to Governor Nasir El Rufai for the social media campaigns that tried to turn the issue of the redevelopment of Sabon-Garin Zaria market into a religious matter.”

The statement also reported the archbishop and other Anglican bishops expressing their thanks to El-Rufai for “his decision to preserve St. George’s Cathedral.”

The government spokesman said the Archbishop had told the governor the Church of Nigeria had distanced itself “from this campaign that has been whipping up baseless allegations of religious bigotry, explaining that the church sees itself and the government as partners.”

‘’The meeting has afforded us a welcome chance to clarify matters and recalibrate our relationship in a mutual commitment to the peace and progress of Kaduna State, and harmony in its diverse communities,” Archbishop Lamido was quoted to have said.

The archbishop’s apology drew an immediate response from the Bishop of Zaria.

“The bishop and the people of Zaria diocese are not surprised about the views and apologies expressed by Archbishop Lamido at the Governor’s office yesterday … because Bishop Lamido is known to always compromise christian standards and the truth.”

The diocesan statement claimed the archbishop was corrupt. He had sold “sold three very precious landed properties of Wusasa diocese to some Muslims. These properties were acquired by missionaries in the late 1800s. These great legacies have been lost forever by the Wusasa community.”

The statement further claimed: “Bishop Lamido brought a Muslim governorship candidates with money to bribe the House of Bishops to vote for this man against Governor El Rufai. His antecedents when it comes to standing for the church speak volumes.”

The bishop of Zaria took exception to the assertion that by protecting their cathedral the diocese were “religious bigots” or “at war with the Governor”. He explained: “We are only fighting for our right. Nobody can stop us from fighting for our right. Besides, prophets do not apologize to kings but kings apologies to prophets. Nobody can propose to demolish our cathedral and we will keep quiet or apologise.”

Rice producers to slash price of rice to support border closure

In response to the Federal Government’s plea for farmers not to take advantage of the current border closure, producers of the Ogoja Rice have disclosed plans to slash the price of the grain ahead of the Yuletide season.

Chairman of the Santuscom Agro-Hub Investment Nigeria Limited, producers of Ogoja Rice, Paul Santus, told journalists yesterday, in Abuja, that the company had scaled up production of the brand locally produced in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, to meet demand for the grain.

He told Nigerians not to panic ahead of the festive period, as the company is willing to crash the price of its 50kg bag to N14,000, saying all is set to meet rice demand in-country despite the skyrocketing price of the commodity in the market, following the border closure.

Recall that Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had appealed to rice farmers, millers and marketers not to increase the price of the grain, saying it would impact negatively on government’s aim on closing the borders.

However, operators along the value chain cashed in on the situation to the extent that local rice, which sold at N16,000 for 50kg bag rose to N20,000 while foreign rice is sold at N22,000.

South African artistes protest against Burna Boy

Some artistes in South Africa under the aegis of Tshwane Collective have sent a petition to the minister of arts and culture, kicking against the inclusion of Burna Boy in two concerts scheduled for 23 and 24 November.

The Africans Unite concerts, a response to recent xenophobia in the country is organised by Play Network Africa, based in Nigeria, in partnership with Phambili Media SA and appears to enjoy the support of South Africa’s department of arts and culture.

It will feature, along with Burna Boy, artistes such as Kwesa and Jidenna. The first concert will hold at Hillcrest Quarry in Cape Town on 23 November and the second at Sun Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.

But the Tshwane Collective questioned the exclusion of local artists and Burna Boy’s invitation to perform at the concert, accusing the African Giant of inciting hatred against South Africa, in the wake of the xenophobic attacks.

“Whoever may have deemed that the country needs a PR exercise of this nature would have done so largely as a result of the callous, misleading and unwarranted incitement by this very artist. Not only did he spread falsehoods through his extensive platform, he literally incited violence and hate. He further promised to inflict his own violence on locals before giving your government an ultimatum which you seem to have received and succumbed to”, the group said in the letter to Nathi Mthethwa, minister of art and culture.

Truly, in a series of tweets in September, Burna Boy urged black foreigners living in SA to defend and protect themselves against xenophobic attackers. In a now deleted tweet, he also told SA rapper AKA to beef up his security, before giving him the middle finger.

He promised to never set foot in SA again until the government “wakes the f*ck up and really performs a miracle”.

Burna Boy, unaware of the protest, announced on 9 November he will contribute a portion of the proceeds from the concert to the victims of xenophobic attacks.

“I really hope we can all keep contributing in our own way to make the world a better and safer place for each other. Africans unite, it’s bigger than all of us,” he wrote on Twitter.
The department of culture has however distanced itself from the concert and said that it’s logo had been used “erroneously” on posters advertising the event, Times Live reported.

“The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture wishes to dispel the untrue information currently being spread on social media, that it is funding the Africans Unite Concert featuring the artist known as Burna Boy. It is unfortunate that the department’s logo was erroneously used on the poster advertising the event,” spokesperson Asanda Magaqa told TshisaLIVE.

Asanda said that the department had not allocated or granted funding for the event.

Senate again proposes death by hanging for hate speech

The Senate on Tuesday once again proposed death by hanging for anybody found guilty of hate speech in the country.

This followed the first reading of a Bill to set up an agency to prohibit hate speech in the country.

The Bill titled: “National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speeches (Establishment, etc) Bill, 2019” is being sponsored by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate who is also the Senator representing Niger North, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.

It could be recalled that the Senate had last week introduced legislation to regulate the social media and also to punish what it termed “abuse of social media” with a three-year jail term or N150,000 option of fine or both.

The social media regulation Bill titled: “Protection from internet falsehood and manipulations bill, 2019” was sponsored by the Senator representing Niger East, Mohammed Sani Musa.

It could be recalled that Senator Abdullahi had sponsored the same Hate Speech Bill during the Eight Senate but the toxic Bill which attracted widespread condemnation from Nigerians never returned for second reading in the upper before the eight-session of the National Assembly elapsed

The Bill had prescribed death by hanging for any person found guilty of any form of hate speech that results in the death of another person.

It also sought the establishment of an Independent National Commission for Hate Speeches.

The Bill as presented to the Eight Senate had proposed that the commission would enforce hate speech laws across the country, and ensure the “elimination” of hate speech.

For offences such as harassment on grounds of ethnicity or race, the Bill had proposed that the offender shall be sentenced to “not less than a five-year jail term or a fine of not less than N10 million or both.”

'Husband's friends r.a.p.e.d me while he laughed so I shot him in head and buried him in garden'

Linda Couch was still a teenager when she met Walter at a wedding reception.

She was instantly smitten by the clean-cut handsome man and "couldn't believe" he wanted to date her.

So when Walter proposed just a few months into their relatonship, Linda jumped at the chance to become his wife when she was just 16.

Speaking to History's I Am A Killer Linda said: "I was still a teen and I thought I was in love. Now, I wish I'd never met him."

The teen bride says the start of the marriage was happy but she claims as soon as she fell pregnant with the couple's first child, Roxanne, things dramatically changed.

Linda said: "He pushed me down the stairs while I was pregnant with Roxanne and when I brought her home he made it clear that all the parenting was down to me.

"He would get angry every time she cried and the slightest thing she would do, he would beat her."

Walter's violence is something Roxanne remembers with heartbreaking clarity.

Now living in Ghana, Roxanne said: "My father had a temper than would go from zero to 80 in a split second. When I was a kid, I looked just like my mum and that wasn't what my father wanted.

"I wasn't pretty enough, my grades weren't good enough, I was never enough for him.

"I would be beaten every day. I got used to it, I just had to deal with it. He portrayed being such a loving father but that was just for show.

"It was an illusion that he created for everyone else. He would hit her and sometimes he would throw her up against the wall."

And then one night, Linda says things took a very dark turn.

Walter regularly enjoyed nights out with his friends and Linda remembers being woken up one night by all his pals in the bedroom she shared with her husband.

She said: "He said they wanted a part of me. I was r.a.p.e.d by all his friends and Walt just watched and laughed.

"I felt trapped. Any time his friends came over, that would happen. Slowly but surely he was bringing me to a breakdown."

Then, the young mum of three thought she had a way out - she had been accepted onto a college course, something Walter wasn't happy about.

Linda said: "College was going to be my escape because I would have been there and away from him.

"It angered him and he wanted me to quit the programme and stay at home with him.

"That was the first time in my marriage that I said no to my husband."

The couple argued about it and Linda claims Walter stormed out of the bedroom and went to grab a newly bought gun.

She says they struggled and she kicked him in the groin before grabbing hold of the gun.

Then Linda claims as she stumbled backwards, she tripped and the gun went off, shooting Walter in the head.

But instead of contacting the police immediately, what Linda did next was truly chilling.

Her trial heard that not only did she dig up the couple's vegetable patch for a shallow grave for her husband - she made her three children help her.

Linda has always insisted that what happened on that October night in 1984 was an accident and she did not mean to kill her abusive husband.

But the judge and jury did not agree and she has been in jail for his murder ever since.

Linda was sentenced to life for aggravated murder and has so  far been refused parole seven times.

Her next parole hearing is in 2020.
