My dad demands s.e.x before paying my school fees, girl tells police in Akwa Ibom

Fortune, aged 20, has narrated to policemen how her father started having s.e.x with her when she was 13 years old, and that he would demand s.e.x before paying her school fees.

Her father, the Presiding Pastor of Mount Zion Light House Full Gospel Church, Obio Imo Lane, Uyo, Apostle Williams Okon Bassey, has been arrested by operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Odiko MacDon, who revealed that six others, including another pastor, were arrested for alleged incest and defilement, told newsmen that Fortune said she got pregnant thrice.

He added: “The victim stated that her father started having sexual intercourse with her at the age of 13. The continuous sexual assault led her to become pregnant on three different occasions and the pregnancies were aborted by her mother.

“She further revealed that the first time her father defiled her was in the church vestry. He threatened to place a curse on her if she dares tell anyone about his escapades.

He also demands sex before paying her school fees or catering for her needs.

” The Police Command’s Spokesperson added that “on October 31, one Anwanga Essien Udo of 7, Itiam Street, Uyo, aged 33, a Pastor with Restoration Bible Church, was arrested for having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 10-year-old step-daughter(name withheld).

“When she was left alone with him, rather than be a father to her, he opted to turn her to a sex-machine.”

The police spokesman warned perpetrators of such act to desist forthwith or be willing to contend with the full wrath of the law.

LASEPA seals off churches, mosques over environmental pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency on Saturday closed eight places of worship in different parts of the state over persistent environmental pollution and disruption of peaceful co-existence of the residents.

The mosques and churches are located at No. 68 Old Otta Road, Orile-Agege; No. 4 Ademola Oshinowo Street, off Love All Street, Ketu; Dele Amuda Street, Lekki; No. 17 Ajileye Street, Ilaje, Bariga; No. 39, Kusenla Road, Elegunshi; and Ajayi Bembe Street, Abule Oja, Yaba.

The General Manager, LASEPA, Dolapo Fasawe, who noted that the clampdown was to mark the World Tolerance Day, said the mutual respect of views, cultures and religions, which the celebration symbolised across the world, must be adhered to by all residents of the state, especially religious organisations.

Fasawe added that there would not be any hiding place for any religious organisation that would not operate within the ambit of the law, regardless of the inclination, noting that religious organisations were supposed to be the bastion of good conduct, tolerance, brotherliness and godly neighbourliness.

“The state government recognises the fact that the state thrives on peaceful co-existence among practitioners of the major religions across the state, but of great concern to the state government is the need for religious activities to be conducted in a manner that worshippers and citizens will not infringe on each others’ rights,” she said.

The animal reportedly belongs to an Indian national who rented an apartment in the house.

The Head of the task force team, Mr. Yinka Egbeyemi, told PUNCH Metro that he had the instruction of the Commissioner for the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture to tranquilise the animal today (Monday).

He said the lion would be subsequently transferred to a zoo.

Kanye West announces his first ever Opera

Kanye West has been on a different path for a little while now and definitely set to take his music to new heights with the announcement of his first opera, Nebuchadnezzar.

The event has been scheduled for Nov. 24 and directed by previous collaborator Vanessa Beecroft.

He posted artwork for the opera, with the powerful Babylonian monarch on front. The artwork was designed by Nick Knight.

As Pitchfork points out, Kanye has mentioned Nebuchadnezzar before. “[God] is saying, Let me take this Nebuchadnezzar-type character—Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon, and he looked at his entire kingdom and said, I did this,” the Jesus Is King creator told Zane Lowe during an interview on Apple Music’s Beats 1.

“I stood on the top of the mountain talking about Yeezus, saying, ‘I’m a God’—I had a guy dressed as Jesus.”

Also in that very interview, one could see how Kanye would like someone like Nebuchadnezzar, the most powerful of all the Babylonian kings and one who had trouble with humility.

“And now—I am unquestionably, undoubtedly, the greatest human artist of all time. It’s not even a question at this point,” West said in the interview.

“It’s just a fact. For the greatest artist in human existence to put a red hat on was God’s practical joke to all liberals. Like, ‘Nooo, not Kanye!’

I’ll share my HIV result if it’s positive - Dayo Amusa

Actress and filmmaker Dayo Amusa is set to release a new movie, ‘Omoniyun’, in cinemas on November 29. In this interview with Joe Agbr JR., Dayo who is also an entrepreneur talks about why she is telling a story of female sexual harassment, sharing her medical status and other issues. Excerpts....

So, what motivated your movie, Omoniyun?

To start with, I’m this person that draw inspiration from things that happen around me, things I hear, things I read, things I get to see. So, I didn’t write the script. I didn’t write the story. It was written by Dayo Fawore but when I got the synopsis of the story and I read through it, I said ‘wow’, this looks good.

And I’m like, can you send me the whole script, which he did. I read through. I did one or two corrections and then he had to go and make another draft. But before then, I’ve had the opportunity to experience a particular situation way back in Sagamu (Ogun State) whereby this 11-year-old girl actually fell into child molestation. So, when this story came in, I like treating stories that deal with social issues. I think I have strength in it. It’s just something that I like doing. These issues of child molestation, child abuse, girl-child marriage and all that is rampant in our society. We don’t get to address them, not because we don’t know they are existing but probably because they’re not being voiced out like it should. I’m like, this is another platform for me to get to the audience, try to educate people, the kids and the older ones.

The movie also grazed on HIV and sometime ago, you posted your HIV status. What was the reason for doing that?

Well, it wasn’t even attached to the movie. The result I posted was just a random thing. I just felt like the issue of HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases is everywhere, whether we want to admit it or not. As individuals, di thing wey cloth dey cover, no bi small thing. And I just feel like, I’ve done mine, I’m negative. You don’t have to be scared to do it. It is better for you to even have it done, know your status. But it is better for you to know your medical status in general so as to be able to do the needful.

Would you have shared your result if it was positive?

I would. Maybe, not exactly at that particular moment. But I would because, for me, I feel being HIV positive is not like the end of the world and it doesn’t stop you from living your life. You don’t have to die before death. You get informed, you get educated about your status so that every other person that is living around you will live healthy. So, it was just a way of (saying), ‘thank God that I am negative. Now that I am negative, biko, make una go do una own.’ That was just it.
