I’m not afraid of death, Obasanjo says

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he would not act like a coward for fear of death, saying, he would continue to raise the alarm when things are not right in the country.

Obasanjo said this at the two- day interactive session of the Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat held at the Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

The former president stated that his major concern was to build leaders who would lead Africa to her promised land.

He said God has favoured him to live long after serving as military head of state and as democratically-elected president of the country.

The former president explained that the purpose of the Presidential Mentorship Retreat was to facilitate the release of creative energies of young people.


He noted that the youths across the African  region need interaction with their leaders.

He, however, advised the youths to sacrifice themselves individually and collectively to make the African continent a  great nation.

While fielding questions from the participants at the retreat, Obasanjo said ” I ‘m not afraid of death at my age, God has favoured me and I appreciate God’s blessings on me over these years.

” My concern over the years is to build leaders of Africa. My greatest concern is tomorrow and that tomorrow begins today.

“The world today is in crisis, I believed that youths need interaction from leaders and learning from them. I want to be inspired at the end of this programme.

“I want you to identify yourself and use your identity to achieve service to God and humanity.

“I want you all to come out individually and collectively in making Nigeria and Africa at large a great nation .”

Ghanaian plus size woman allegedly denied entry into a plane because of her size

The 2019 winner of Atinka TV’s plus size women reality show ‘Di Asa’ in Ghana has allegedly been kicked out of Emirates Airlines’ plane to Dubai.

According to reports Precious Mensah, was not allowed on the plane because of her size.

This is because her body size is bigger than a single seat on Emirates Airlines’ flight, it has been claimed.

Precious alongside two runners-up, Maafia and Gaza, as a price for coming on top during the competition, were given a sponsored trip to Dubai.


The runners-up, however, were able to get on the flight.

Her team are already on the matter.

FBI-wanted scammer Oluwatosin forfeits house, cars, bags prison term (photos)

An FBI-wanted scammer, Emmanuel Adedeji Oluwatosin, was convicted on Tuesday by Justice M S. Sifawa of the Sokoto State High court sitting in Sokoto, over $150,000 internet fraud.

The charge reads, “that you Adedeji Emmanuel Oluwatosin, sometime between January and July 2019 at Sokoto within the jurisdiction of the Sokoto State High Court did steal the sum of $150, 000.00 (One Hundred and fifty Thousand Dollars) through wire funds transfer from multiple foreign victims by fraudulent intrusion into their retirement accounts domiciled in United States of America via internet and transferred the said sums into fraudulent business accounts created by you and you withdrew the said funds through ATM Cards and cashier cheques and you thereby committed the offence of Theft contrary to Section 274 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law 2019 and punishable under Section 275 of the same Law”.

Upon arraignment, Adedeji pleaded guilty to the charge.

In view of the defendant’s plea, the prosecuting counsel, Musa. Mela Gwani asked the court to convict and sentence the defendant.

However, the defence counsel, Shamsu A. Dauda, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as his client was a first time offender who has become remorseful. He also told the court that the convict is ready to restitute the victims by forfeiting his home in Kaduna and two Mercedes Benz cars (Models C550e and C450) to the victims.

Justice Sifawa, thereafter convicted and sentenced the defendant to two (2) years imprisonment with option of Two Million Naira (N2, 000,000.00) fine.

He ordered the convict to restitute the victims by forfeiting the proceeds of the said crime: a residential apartment situated at No17/19 Seamans Street, Maigero, Kaduna State and two Mercedes Benz Models C550e and C450 respectively through Asset Forfeiture Unit of the EFCC for disposal and return of the proceeds to the victims of the offence through the US Legal Attaché in Nigeria.

The convict’s journey to prison started on the 29th of August, 2019 when he was arrested in Kaduna at Unguwan Maigero in a luxury apartment, following intelligence by US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on his involvement in internet scams.

Items recovered from the residence included two cars (Mercedes Benz C550e, Mercedes Benz C450), an IPhone, laptops, a modem and SIM cards.

Kim Kardashian's close friend and makeup artist breaks down in tears as he comes out as gay

Kim Kardashian West's longtime makeup artist and friend Mario Dedivanovic has come out as gay officially when accepting an award at the American Influencer Awards show.

The makeup artist, 37, whose known as Makeup by Mario, appeared visibly emotional on Monday evening when accepting the Artist Achievement Award from Kim, 39, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.

'A couple of days ago, on my mother's 73rd birthday, I walked home after a day of stressful meetings at work and she was there doing my laundry and I broke down to her crying,' Mario said during his speech. 

'I told her finally that I had spent my entire life and childhood suppressing my thoughts, suppressing my dreams, my feelings, my creativity and trying to be invisible so that no one would know how I'm feeling inside,' he continued.

'I knew that I was born different. I was traumatized to be me. I had been living in fear my entire life. I had been ashamed. She said, "Mario, from this day forward you are never again to live in shame or fear."'

Mario comes from an Albanian family, and he confessed to his background preventing him from being honest about his true identity.

He even left home when he was younger to pursue his passion for makeup against his family's wishes, it was revealed in a clip before Mario was presented the award.

The speech went on where Mario asked people in the crowd and other viewers to be open and accepting of others who were born different.

'I stand here for the first time in my life a proud 37-year-old gay man...I finally feel that bright light that I've been dreaming of my whole life is pouring from my soul around my body and it's mine. I can now live the life that I deserve and right now I feel true happiness.'

Father marries his daughter and has s.e.x with her after allegedly killing her boyfriend

A West Virginia father married his daughter three weeks after they allegedly killed her boyfriend and buried him in a shallow grave at their house, it has been revealed.

Larry Paul McClure Sr, 55, of Pendleton, Kentucky has been charged with first-degree murder after he confessed to the grisly killing of Minnesota man John Thomas McGuire, 38, in a written letter to police on November 4.

McGuire was dating McClure's daughter Amanda Michelle Naylor McClure, 31, when he was brutally murdered by being hit in the head with a bottle of wine, tied up, injected with methamphetamine and strangled on or around February 14.

Amanda and her sister Anna Marie Choudhary, 32, who is also McClure's daughter, both also face murder charges in connection to McGuire's death.


The trio allegedly killed McGuire together and buried his body in a shallow grave on their residence before later moving the body to a side-yard location in Skygusty. 

Just three weeks after the Valentines Day murder, Larry McClure and his daughter Amanda traveled to Virginia to get married on March 11,  according to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. 

The details of the harrowing Valentines Day murder and of the incestuous relationship between McClure and his daughter Amanda were revealed during a preliminary hearing for the murder case on November 5.

Prosecutors say McClure and his two daughters were all in on the murder plot.

'On or about February 14, Mr. John McGuire was struck in the head with a bottle of wine, then tied up, and then injected with two vials of methamphetamine. After the injection, he was strangled,' West Virginia State Police Trooper K.M. Saddler, the lead investigator in the case, testified in the preliminary hearing.

Larry McClure, was originally arrested for failing to register as a sex offender, and later disclosed to West Virginia State Police the location of the body, which was found on September 24.

A breakthrough in the case came on November 4 when McClure wrote a letter to police confessing to the crime and detailing the grisly murder.

McClure painted his daughter Amanda as the ringleader of the plot. 

He said he does not know her motive for the killing, but alleged she was spending McGuire's monthly Social Security checks. 

'I cannot tell you why Amanda wanted John McGuire dead,' he said.
'I am asking for this to be over and not waisting [sic} the taxpayers money and hurting the family members on both sides of this. John McGuires family and my family.

'All I can do is hope for mercy on this, but my sentence on this really does not matter because I am old and in bad health. I will never live to see the parole board in (15) years anyway and that is OK.

'I will say I am sorry for my part in this crime to both my family and John McGuire’s family.'

He closed out his letter saying he pleads guilty no contest adding, 'I just want it over. NO TRIAL NO TAXPAYER MONEY SPENT FOR A TRIAL.' 

The shocking criminal complaint revealed Larry McClure and his daughter had an incestuous relationship and got married just three weeks after the murder.
Trooper Saddler says that additional charges could be filed against the suspects for their incestuous relationship.

'There will be further review of the case for more charges pending the grand jury indictments,' citing the marriage 'and other acts'.

Saddler said the case remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police Welch detachment.

All three suspects are currently in South Central Regional Jail.

McGuire, who had six children and was from Minnesota, had been on the way to see his mother when he had disappeared and had reported him missing, KCHK reported.

His family had set up a Facebook page to help raise funds to bring his remains back to his hometown.

Wriggling 7cm worm found in man's eye 12 years after he was bitten by a dog (photos)

Doctors have removed a 7cm-long wriggling worm from a man's eye after he complained of it paining and itching him for the last few years.

Jasubhai Patel, 70, from Gujarat, India, desperately sought help from several doctors but couldn't be diagnosed with any illness.

However a month ago, one medic spotted the parasite squirming at the back of his eye - and a stomach-churning video shows it being removed.

Dr Milan Panchal, an ophthalmologist at Narayan Hospital and Research Centre in Bharuch, carried out a microscopic investigation on the man and found the parasite squirming in the back of the conjunctival surface - the white skin portion in the eye.


Dr Milan said: "We pulled it out alive. We only gave him topical anaesthesia. The patient could feel the worm being taken out."

The doctor warned that the worm had the potential to permanently damage the man's eyesight if it was not removed immediately.

He added: "If the worm was not removed on time, it could have blinded the man.

"There is also a chance that the worm could have gone to his brain through bloodstream.

"A surgery would have needed to remove it from the brain.

'It took us 25 minutes to remove the parasite. It was difficult to pin it down as it was moving around," Dr Milan said.

Patel, who is unmarried, was living in a hospice where he worked in the kitchen, cutting vegetables.

Doctors suspect the worm in Patel's eye could have entered through a dog bite.

"We investigated his case and it is possible that the parasite might have entered his bloodstream and settled in the eye," Dr Milan said.

Lawyer dies after being shot when gun being used as evidence is dropped in court

A lawyer was killed when a shotgun being shown as evidence was dropped and blasted her from point blank range.

Senior advocate Addelaid Ferreira-Watt screamed in agony as she was blown off her feet by pellets which ripped a hole in her left hip.

Horrified staff in the Ixopi Regional Court in KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa, frantically tried to stop the bleeding as an ambulance rushed to the scene.

Despite the efforts of paramedics the mother-of-one Addelaid was later pronounced dead in hospital.


It is thought the blast severed an artery which caused her to bleed to death.

The South African Police Service is treating the incident as culpable homicide and is working to find out why the shotgun was entered as evidence while still fully loaded.

How two siblings beheaded my 10-year-old son –Father

Mr Kayode Makinde, the father of 10-year-old Joseph Makinde, who was beheaded by two siblings, Saheed and Ayodeji Obadimeji, on Monday, narrated to a Lagos State High Court in Igbosere how the duo killed his son and held on to his parts at the police station.

Punch Metro had reported that Saheed, 19, and Ayodeji, 18, had on November 27, 2018, around 8.30pm, allegedly beheaded Joseph in an uncompleted building at Sapati, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, over N200,000.

The siblings allegedly lured Joseph into the uncompleted building by sending him to buy a beverage drink for them and when he brought it, they held him and cut off his head with a knife.


The duo alleged that they were contracted by one Sodiq Abefe to produce a human head for N200,000.

The defendants were arrested by the anti-kidnapping operatives of the Lagos State Police Command and were subsequently arraigned before Justice Adedaye Akintoye on two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The offences, according to the prosecution, contravene Section 222 (1) (a) and are punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

At the resumed hearing on Monday, Kayode, who is the first prosecution witness, told the court how he saw one of the defendants holding his son’s head, while the other was holding his torso at the police station.

Kayode, who told the court that he knew the defendants and that they live in the same area of Sapati town with him, noted that they were from the same mother but different fathers.

The bereaved father, while being led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Yusuf Sule, noted that one of his neighbours, identified simply as Femi, had sent Joseph on an errand on the next street to help him withdraw money from an Automated Teller Machine when he was accosted by the defendants.

Kayode said his son left for the ATM around 6.30pm and did not come back, and when a search party was constituted to look for him, he could not be found and a case of a missing person was reported at the Elemoro Police Station, Ibeju-Lekki.

He added, “The following day, I returned to the police station and the police took me to where a patrol van was parked and showed me the rear of the van, where I saw the dead body of my son. The first defendant was holding his head, while the second was holding the body.

“The police arrested Femi, who sent my son on an errand to the ATM; they took the defendants to Panti and at Panti, I was asked what happened and I narrated what I knew to them and they told me they were working on it.”

Under cross-examination by the defence counsel, Emma Nidiyo, Kayode reiterated that he saw his son’s body parts with the defendants and that they confirmed at the police station that they killed Joseph, adding that his son was not a friend to the defendants before he was killed.
