Prince Andrew's daughters vow to 'keep calm and carry on' during dad's scandal

Prince Andrew’s daughters have vowed to “keep calm and carry on” amid the scandal engulfing their father.

After a disastrous week for the Duke of York following his devastating BBC interview, princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have remained resolute and vowed to support him after he was sacked by the Queen and Prince Charles.

But insiders believe Andrew’s banishment from public life could have a direct effect on their royal careers.

The sisters are not “working royals” and have day jobs alongside their charity patronages and various campaigning roles.

Beatrice, 31, is vice president of partnerships and strategy at Afiniti, an American software company where she focuses on “client development”, while Eugenie, 29, has a role at the Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery in Mayfair, west London.

Andrew has always campaigned for his “blood Princesses” to have a greater role within the royal family, but his dramatic downfall will mean he has little, if any, say in their royal roles in future, sources have suggested.

The princesses are understood to be entirely focused on supporting their father, alongside their mother Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, as Andrew picks up the pieces of his decision to be interviewed by the BBC over his relationship with the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

A friend of Beatrice and Eugenie said: “They have both been extremely resolute and told Andrew they will support him in any way they can.

“They have their passions and causes which they successfully manage, but are two ambitious women who can stand on their own.

“It’s been very much a case of keep calm and carry on for them both.
“They are close to cousins William and Harry and are adored by the Queen, who all will continue to advise them on their futures.”
It is thought Beatrice’s wedding to property millionaire Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36, next year could be scaled down and “less public” than her sister’s.

When Eugenie wed Jack Brooksbank, 33, last year, in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, the big day included a carriage ride through Windsor.

5 year-old girl who had stroke at play centre crowned Britain's Happiest Child

A little girl who had a stroke at a soft play centre has been crowned Britain’s Happiest Child. Freya Watson, five, won the award after amazing hospital staff with her positive attitude.

Her specialist teacher said she was “truly the most inspiring pupil I have ever worked with”. Freya, from Hedon, near Hull, suffered an aneurysm in September.

Specialists at Leeds Children’s Hospital had never seen the condition in one so young.

Other winners at last night’s London awards included Longwood Primary, in Harlow, Essex, which topped the Happiest Primary School category.

Four years ago it was in special measures with 20 times the national rate of exclusions.  Now it is ranked as good with outstanding features.

Nigeria's Hope Uzodima arrested in India

A Nigerian identified as Hope Uzodima has been arrested by India’s Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Navi Mumbai.

The 40 year-old Uzodima, living in Bonkhode village in Koparkhairane was arrested for possession of ivory and a sword cane. His arrest was made possible with the help of another Nigerian King Chukwudi Fidelis, who is also in police net.

Fidelis, 30, was arrested at Sector 13 in Koparkhairane last week for the possession of 64 gm of methamphetamine powder worth ₹3.2 lakh.

Investigations revealed that he got the drug from Uzodima, and hence the police set out to nab him, The Hindu newspaper reported.

“While searching Mr. Hope’s house, we found a 12 inch-long elephant tusk worth ₹1.65 lakh and a sword cane. Upon interrogation, he confessed that he had smuggled them from Nigeria,” senior police inspector Ravindra Budhwant, ANC, said.

He said the duo had entered the country on tourist visas, which looked fake to the police, and they would be verifying them.

The accused claimed to have a clothing business in the country but police suspect the claim is an attempt to cover up the smuggling. Mr. Hope has not yet revealed where he got the drugs from.

The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau confirmed the authenticity of the seized ivory, after which the police has booked the duo under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act along with those of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Arms Act.

Mr. Hope and Mr. Fidelis are currently in judicial custody.

Alleged fraud: Air Peace boss breaks silence... I'm innocent and my lawyers are already on it

The Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema has refuted the charge of money laundering and bank fraud levelled against him by the US Justice Department in Atlanta, Georgia.

The US Justice Department, Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Georgia alleges that Onyema and his chief of administration and finance, Ejiroghene Eghagha illegally moved more than $20 million through American bank accounts using false documents to procure airplanes.

Onyema gave his reaction to Daily Trust, denying ever laundering money in his life.

“I can confirm to you that all allegations are false and are in no way in line with my character as a person and as a business man whose only aim has been to build Nigeria and improve wellbeing.

“As the press statement clearly stated, these are indictments that only contains charges. I am innocent of all charges and the US government will find NO dirt on me because I have never conducted business with any illegalities.

“Rest assured that I also have my lawyers on this and these mere allegations will be refuted.

“I never laundered money in my life, neither have I committed bank fraud anywhere in the world.

Every Kobo I transferred to the US for aircraft purchase went through the Central Bank of Nigeria LC regime and all were used for the same purpose. The American companies that received the funds are still in business. I never took a penny from any US bank or Nigerian bank. I am willing to defend my innocence in the US courts.”

Inter coach Antonio Conte admits he tells his players how to have s.e.x

Inter manager Antonio Conte has revealed that he advises his players to have s.e.x ‘with the minimum of effort’ during the season.

The issue of players having s.e.x before matches has been raised before with Samir Nasri claiming that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had banned his squad from intercourse during the evening before a match.

The topic has not only limited to football as several boxers have adopted similar tactics, including former world super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch who underwent a self-imposed three-month spell of abstinence before his fight against George Groves in 2014.

But while Conte does not ban his players from having s.e.x, the former Chelsea manager admits he urges his squad to keep it short and let their partners do the work.

‘During the season, I advise my players to have s.e.x for short periods and with the minimum of effort, and better use positions where they are under their partners,’ Conte said in an interview with L’Equipe. ‘And preferably, with their wives, because if with others, well, that needs extra action.’

Clooney Foundation joins call for Sowore’s release

The Clooney Foundation, founded by Hollywood star George Clooney and his lawyer wife, Amal has joined the global call for Omoyele Sowore’s release by the defiant Nigeria’s Department of State Services.

In a statement Friday, the foundation expressed outrage about Sowore’s continued detention and urged the Nigerian authorities to release him, in compliance with the court order.

Below is the full statement by the Clooney Foundation...

The Clooney Foundation for Justice’s TrialWatch initiative has been monitoring the trial of Omoyele Sowore in Nigeria.

While Mr. Sowore’s trial is still ongoing, the Clooney Foundation for Justice is concerned by Mr. Sowore’s continued detention.

On October 21, 2019, the Federal High Court of Abuja reduced the conditions under which Mr. Sowore could be granted bail – eliminating a cash bail requirement and requiring that Mr. Sowore not speak publicly about political issues and remain within a particular region of Nigeria.

According to defense counsel, Mr. Sowore met those conditions on November 5. The court then issued an order dated November 6 that explicitly stated that Mr. Sowore “has been Released.”

But Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) has not released Mr. Sowore and he remains in custody more than 15 days after this judicial decision.

Amal Clooney, co-President of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, said “It is outrageous that Nigeria continues to imprison a journalist and Presidential candidate after a court has ordered
his release. TrialWatch will continue to monitor Mr. Sowore’s trial and calls on the authorities to implement the court’s order as soon as possible.”

Ban the Brazilian butt lift says coroner after 29 year-old mum dies on operating table

A coroner has urged surgeons to think twice about performing the "Brazilian butt lift" following the death of a mother-of-three.

Leah Cambridge, 29, saved up thousands of pounds to have the procedure done in Izmir, Turkey, last August after feeling "paranoid about her body".

Her inquest at Wakefield Coroner's Court heard how she booked the surgery against the wishes of her partner, Scott Franks, through a company named Elite Aftercare, which offers clients a package that includes a stay in a villa.

The beautician, from Leeds, died while undergoing the controversial operation, where fat is removed from certain areas of the body, including the stomach and back, and then transferred into the buttocks to achieve an hourglass figure.

Recording a conclusion that Miss Cambridge died having the Brazilian butt lift (BBL) after not being fully appraised of the risks involved, coroner Kevin McLoughlin said: "Against this backdrop, those involved in facilitating or conducting BBL procedures must decide whether it's safe to continue to do so.

"In my judgement, this decision should be made on ethical grounds, rather than business ones relating to the revenue streams involved."

He added: "At the very least, anyone thinking of submitting themselves to the hazards associated with the BBL should seek out independent medical advice. Make sure that you fully understand the risks before you proceed."

Organisers of Witchcraft conference snub CAN, say it is unstoppable

Despite the cancellation of the booked venue for their witchcraft conference, the organisers said they are marching ahead and will announce a new venue soon.

Professor Egodi Uchendu, director of the B.I.C Ijomah Centre for Policy Studies and Research in a WhatsAPP response to a Pm news enquiry said the protest and campaign by the Christian Association of Nigeria and Christian students in the University of Nigeria(UNN), Nsukka will not deter them from holding the academic conference.

“Freedom of speech is a fundamental human right. CAN and others are free to express their opinions just like we have the freedom to have an academic conference on witchcraft”, Mrs Uchendu, a professor of history said.
“I’m delighted that the conference is generating the debate it should across the nation. Nigerians should look critically into the subject of the conference and identify how it’s impeding our national existence and personal experience”, she added.

She absolved the UNN from the cancellation of the booking for Energy Centre, as venue for the conference, billed to begin 26 November.

She said the centre is owned by the Federal Government and is domiciled in the UNN.

“UNN DID NOT deny us use of Energy Centre. Energy Centre did. Energy Centre is a Federal organ domiciled in UNN. It’s not controlled by UNN. Their decision to deny us their venue may not even be known to UNN”, she said.

The conference on witchcraft has generated controversy since it was announced that it would take place in UNN Nsukka.

Three nabbed for gang-raping 14-year-old pupil

Three persons have been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl at Eyita, Ikorodu area of the state.

The police are also on the trail of a fourth suspect, a secondary school pupil, said to be involved in the crime.

City Round learnt that the suspects reside in the neighbourhood and usually waylaid the victim when she was sent on errands and had sex with her.

It was gathered that relations of the victim, who lives with her grandmother, observed she had been wayward lately and started monitoring her closely.

A neighbour recently chanced on four boys reportedly molesting the girl at a dark spot close to her residence. They were said to have fled on sighting the man.

Punch correspondent gathered that the neighbour notified the victim’s relations about the incident and she was queried.

It was learnt that she mentioned the suspects and the case was reported at the Sagamu Road Police Station.

An uncle of the victim, Tunde Animola, told City Round that the girl had been living with the grandmother since her childhood.

He said, “She has been wayward lately. After studying her closely, we discovered that some boys have been having sex with her. Recently a neighbour sent her on an errand and she didn’t come back in time. It was in the process of searching for her that the man saw her with some boys. The following Saturday, November 16, around 7.30pm, the neighbour caught the boys at a dark spot molesting her.

“We then reported the case to the police. Four persons were involved and one of them is also a secondary school pupil who is still at large. Her parents have separated and remarried. She lives with her grandmother. She is in SS3.”

Animola added that a medical test had been carried out on the girl and submitted to the police.

A rights activist, Okla Gogo, who is on the case, said an investigation police officer at the Sagamu Road Division, one Inspector Ariet, initially wanted to treat the incident as a case of indecent assault and not defilement.

He said, “The IPO said the survivor was not a virgin so she can only charge the perpetrators with indecent assault not defilement. She (the IPO) also threatened to check if the girl was acutely raped or not.”

“We appreciate the area commander and all parties that helped on the case. If not, the Sagamu Division IPO would have released the perpetrators,” Gogo added.

Copyright infringement: No bad blood between me and ‘sister’, Tiwa Savage –Danny Young

Copyright lawsuits are not new in the entertainment industry; however, most lawsuits often end up in messy online scuffles which degenerate into bad blood or beef between the parties involved.

After months of controversy over allegation of copyright infringement made against Tiwa Savage by Ajibola Olumuyiwa Danladi, better known as Danny Young, both of them agreed to settle the case out of court.

The matter was taken to the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Young filed N200m copyright suit against Savage for her 2018 song, ‘One’, which he claimed she copied from his 2009 single, ‘Oju Tiwon’.

At that time, the mother of one who was formerly signed to Mavin Records, neither refuted nor commented on Young’s accusation.

But speaking with Saturday Beats, Young said he fought for what he believed in, while describing copyright infringement as a “very serious” offence internationally.

The singer also commended Tiwa Savage, who he fondly referred to as his sister, for committing in good faith towards finding an amicable resolution to the dispute.

“Before I went into it, I knew what I was getting into and I knew what I stood for. I understand the implications; I was ready for it and ready to follow it up,” Young said.

The singer, however, refused to comment on the terms reached in the agreement, stressing that he was very happy.

He said, “I’m sorry I’ll not be able to disclose that but we are happy with the resolution and everybody is good.

“I was the one that came to social media to talk about it, and I took it to court because I was not happy, so now I am happy because we have resolved it and we are both happy about it.

“Tiwa Savage is still my sister; no bad blood or beef. We are cool, it’s not a fight or beef, it’s just entertainment business.

“But trust me, everybody does not necessarily go to court because they want to fight. It’s is not a beef.”

“I’m in a good place with her as long as she is in a good place with me. Like I said, it’s nothing emotional from my own side. I’m just doing my music business and I believe that I am doing what is right.

“I’m doing things the way it should be done professionally. I don’t expect anyone to get emotional about it; I personally know she is happy the same way I am happy.

“Whether my accusations are right or wrong, I did what I knew was the right thing. I’m not a judge and I’m not the one to condemn anybody.  All I know is that I fought for what I believed in and it was right. What I was fighting for was not for Danny Young as an artiste.

“I was fighting for something I believed was wrong and should change. It was not about Tiwa Savage, it’s about the way things are being done in the industry. I felt that for people to change their ways, you need to have a good reason to do something.

“Nobody is above mistake; anyone can do something but people realising and knowing the implications of what they do will not make them do it again. Whatever I did would have happened to anybody else.

“The most important thing is that we were able to resolve (it) and not to take it beyond that stage.”

Commenting on the backlash from people when he filed the suit, Young said, “We live in a very hypocritical generation, especially Nigeria as a whole. We have so many people that are not informed and as ignorant as they are, they still try to argue and put their ignorant information out there.

“But 95 per cent of them don’t know what they are saying; some people don’t even read what they are talking about, they just check the comment of the last person and build on that.

“Copyright infringement is a very serious offence internationally and we as players in the industry are meant to check ourselves and know how to do our thing in such a way that we don’t encourage things like that.”

According to Young’s lawyer, Justin Ige, the decision to settle out of court stemmed from the respondents (Tiwa Savage & Mavin Records) reaching out to his client and requesting that the case be settled out of court.

Beyoncé and Jay Z 'uncoupling' tweet tricks thousands - but for very good cause

If you've been on Twitter, you might have seen a post claiming everyone's favourite power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z have decided to 'consciously uncouple'.

But before you start sobbing and declaring that love is officially dead, let me reassure you that it's not true.

The post is actually a very sneaky trick to encourage people to register to vote in the upcoming UK general election on December 12.

A man named Marvyn Harrison is responsible for the tweet, which has been liked and retweeted thousands of times.

It reads: "Beyoncé and her 'rapper' husband Jay Z confirm their 'conscious uncoupling' via @BBCBreaking."

Alongside this, there is a link which many thought was a BBC news article, but when clicked, it actually directs to the register to vote page at Gov.uk.

Marvyn, a communications strategist from London said he shared the tweet in the hopes all voices will be heard at the polls.

Speaking to Mirror Online, he explained: "I know people are suffering political and voting exhaustion but all voices are needed to be heard so I wanted to put it in an interesting way."

He continued to say the response to the tweet has been "amazing" and that it has clearly made some people feel "an element of guilt" for not registering sooner.

I’m not romantically attracted to any colleague -Rosy Meurer

Sultry actress, Rosaline Meurer, has said she is not in any relationship with any of her colleagues.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Meurer said, “Well, I would prefer a consideration of privacy on issues surrounding my intimate relationship. But regardless, I would say that I am not in any relationship with any of my colleagues and I’m not romantically attracted to any of my colleagues.”

Meurer said she sometimes decides to keep quiet whenever she is being insulted on social media.

She said, “I sometimes decide to keep mute; otherwise I try to make clarified reactions to dispose such negative narratives. We all know that no matter how best you try to please people, haters would always look for a reason to assert negative comments.”
