Rihanna looks every inch the footie fan as she holds up a personalised ‘RiRi’ shirt (photos)

She is known for her love for football. And Rihanna looked in her element as she attended the UEFA Champions League group D match between Juventus and Atletico Madrid at Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy on Tuesday.

Going make-up free for the sporty outing, the hitmaker, 31, looked absolutely thrilled as she held up a personalised Juventus football shirt with her nickname 'Riri' etched in white letters on the back.
Rihanna was hard to miss during the sporting spectacle as she wrapped up in a bulky brown leather jacket top a matching sweater.

She kept the chill at bay by wrapping a thick brown shearling scarf around her neck.

The Diamonds hitmaker enhanced her striking features with only the slightest slick of make-up and added to the look with a pair of quirky red shades.
Proving that she every inch the footie fanatic, the make-up mogul's belongings were toted in a football shaped Louis Vuitton handbag.

Rihanna couldn't contain her joy as she was snapped holding up her new personalised football shirt.
She was seen cheering and celebrating as she supported Juventus to victory.

Melania Trump booed by high and middle school students at opioid summit, Baltimore

Melania Trump was booed when she spoke about the battle with opioid addiction at a Youth Summit in Baltimore Tuesday.

The first lady was loudly booed by the audience of mostly middle and high school students for about a minute when she walked on stage and again when she concluded her short remarks.

Students also talked loudly over her when she addressed them, resulting in the first lady to briefly interrupt her remarks with a 'hello.'

It is believed to be the first time Melania Trump has been booed at a solo event. She was met with protesters outside a Boston hospital event earlier this month, and was at the World Series match in Washington D.C. last month where her husband was loudly booed.

'Thank you for the warm introduction and for inviting me to join you today for such an important event centered on opioid awareness,' she began as the boos continued.

President Donald Trump has been a critic of the majority-black city, calling it a 'rat and rodent infested mess' this summer.

Andy Ruiz Jr vows to beat Joshua for a second time

Andy Ruiz Jr has vowed to "make history again" in his world heavyweight title rematch with Anthony Joshua.

Ruiz Jr, 30, arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to begin preparations for the 'Clash On The Dunes' on 7 December.

"It feels good. You know I made history in New York and I'll make history again in Saudi Arabia," he said.

Joshua, 30, is seeking to regain the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles after his shock defeat by Ruiz in New York in June.

The bout is the first heavyweight world title fight to take place in the Middle East and will be staged in the 15,000-seat Diriyah Arena.

Work on the purpose-built stadium only began in October but it is now close to completion.

Joshua visited the arena, which promoter Eddie Hearn described as "utterly breathtaking", on Saturday.

In June, Mexican-American Ruiz floored Joshua four times en route to a seventh-round stoppage at Madison Square Garden, handing the Briton his first defeat as a professional.

Motorcyclist rescuing accident victim electrocuted

A motorcyclist, Abdullahi Hassan, has died while attempting to rescue a yet-to-be-identified mechanic, who was involved in an accident at Festac Town in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Punch Metro gathered that the mechanic, while driving a Toyota Venza on top speed on the G1 Close, 21 Road, Festac, ran into an electric pole and knocked it down in the process.

While the pole fell, the wires on it were said to have snapped and fell to the ground.

It was learnt that the impact of the crash caused the car to tumble and people at the scene of the accident rushed to rescue the mechanic.

Hassan, who was riding his motorcycle on the road, was said to have also parked in a bid to assist in rescuing the mechanic, who got stuck in the vehicle, but he got electrocuted after stepping on the wires that were on the ground.

When Punch Metro visited the accident scene on Monday, traders and residents of the area said when they noticed that Hassan had been electrocuted, they gave him milk in a bid to revive him and he was later taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A trader, who simply identified herself as Mama Chima, said there was power outage when the car crashed into the pole, but as people gathered to rescue the mechanic, power was restored and the fallen wires electrocuted Hassan

She said, “The accident happened a week ago; the man (Hassan) was not killed by the car involved in the accident, it was the wires that fell from the pole that electrocuted him. There was no power supply when the accident occurred, so people gathered there. Suddenly, power was restored and Hassan’s body touched a naked wire and it electrocuted him and slammed him on the ground.

“Onlookers thought it was a minor issue, so they brought milk and gave him, but he later died. The people had already rescued the mechanic involved in the accident and Hassan was among those, who gathered at the scene of the accident.”

Punch Metro observed that the fallen pole had been abandoned on the sidewalk.

A resident of the area, Joshua Olushola, said the power distribution firm in charge of the area, after realising that the fallen wires were responsible for Hassan’s death, mobilised electricians to disconnect and evacuate them to prevent further calamities.

Olushola stated, “The car was driven by a mechanic on top speed when he ran into the pole. After the car had tumbled, people rushed to rescue him and it was after he had been rescued that the Hausa boy got electrocuted. We were even surprised that he was electrocuted; it was as if he had been predestined to die that way.

“Although I was not around because the accident happened early in the morning, but what I gathered was that the car ran into an electric pole and the pole is still on the floor, but electricians have come to take away the wires that killed the Hausa boy.

“The boy was riding his motorcycle when he saw people gathered at the accident scene, so he parked his motorcycle, disembarked and moved closer to observe what happened when he stepped on one of the wires and was electrocuted.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said Hassan was electrocuted while trying to assist in rescuing the victim of the accident, adding that his corpse had been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

It's time we stop blaming President Buhari for everything - Garba Shehu

“We really must stop this habit of blaming President (Muhammadu) Buhari for everything, including issues that are not his business.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, was quoted as saying this during an interview with reporters on Tuesday in Abuja.

He was responding to the various reactions trailing the outcomes of the governorship elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi and Bayelsa States.

Governor Yahaya Bello and Mr David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Mr Musa Wada and Senator Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi and Bayelsa States respectively.

Speaking specifically about the election in Bayelsa, Shehu faulted the purported reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan was blackmailed to support the APC.

He described such claims as false and irresponsible, wondering how such a story could be considered credible to the extent of being given space in some newspapers.

“It just doesn’t make any sense,” the President’s spokesman was quoted as saying in a statement by a deputy director of information, Abiodun Oladunjoye.

He stressed, “Our media really must learn to verify whatever they publish and people who make wild allegations during interviews should be made to produce the facts backing their claims by editors.”

“A newspaper can be sued for granting space to people who belch false allegations against individuals with no proof,” Shehu warned.

He noted that former President Jonathan had been out of power for about five years without any previous allegations of government blackmail cropping up.

Shehu, however, purported that there were more than enough reasons for Dr Jonathan to work against his party in the just concluded election in Bayelsa without interference by President Buhari.

He alleged, “Anyone who has been following the politics of Bayelsa State should be aware of the sour relationship between Dr Jonathan and the incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson.

“That’s more than enough reason for the former president to decide to work against his party, if indeed he did.”

Ex-governors, dep governors and other political office holders in Zamfara will no longer enjoy pension, entitlements

Former governors, deputy governors, and other political office holders in Zamfara State will no longer enjoy the payment of pension and other entitlements.

This development comes on the heels of outright repeal of the law that approves such payment by members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

The lawmakers abolished the law on Tuesday following a bill laid on the floor on the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex in Gusau, the state capital.

Presenting the bill, House Leader Faruk Dosara (PDP Maradun I) urged his collogues to as a matter of urgency consider the complete repeal of the law.

The law, according to him, provides the ‘jamboree pay’ for the former political leaders of the state at the detriment of the retired civil servants who have not been paid their entitlements over the years.

Dosara stressed that this category of past leaders were receiving over N700,000 million naira annually at a time when the state’s economy cannot accommodate such.

Seconding the motion, Tukur Tudu (PDP Bakura) explained that the abolition of the law was highly necessary as was detrimental to the socio-economic well-being of the people.

Following a series of deliberations and contributions by members, the Speaker, Nasiru Magarya, ordered the Clerk of the House to give the bill first and second reading.

The House, thereafter, went for a committee of a whole which led to the third reading of the bill.

The bill scaled through the third reading while members passed it and resolved that it should be sent to the state governor, Bello Matawalle, for his assent.

In a statement shortly after, the spokesperson for the House, Mustapha Kaura, noted that all past political leaders in Zamfara would no longer enjoy any entitlement, unless those prescribed by the National Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

After recovering from the initial shock, Labake was said to have picked a quarrel with Seun and the other woman, whose name could not be immediately ascertained.

In the ensuing fight, Labake allegedly picked up a fork and stabbed Seun in the stomach and he died on the spot.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mustafa Katayeyanjue, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige, had ordered an investigation into the matter.

Kim Kardashian renounces n.u.d.e.s for her children's sake after 'awakening'

Kim Kardashian has revealed she has banned herself from taking n.u.d.e photos.

The reality star, known for her saucy selfies, has announced that she had an "awakening", following the news her husband Kanye West now frowns upon it.

Kanye recently became very religious and decided that his wife's sexiness goes against his beliefs.

And Kim has now claimed she had a similar enlightenment experience recently which has caused her to become more conservative.

Kim, 39, told The Cut she had been deliberately dressing more modestly after she realised her children were going to see x-rated photos of her on social media.

She added: "I don’t know if it’s the fact that my husband has voiced that sometimes too sexy is just overkill and he’s not comfortable with that.

"I listen to him and understand him.

"Still, at the end of the day, he always gives me the freedom to be and do what I want.

But I have kind of had this awakening myself.”
Kim is mum to North, six, Saint, three, Chicago, one, and Psalm, six months.

She explained that she realised she couldn't scroll her Instagram feed with her kids without nude photos of herself coming up.

"I also did think, like, okay, I’m here in the White House and then the next day I was posting a crazy bikini selfie.

"And I was thinking, ‘I hope they don’t see this, I have to go back there next week'.”

She said she is "evolving" and does not care as much about capturing moments on camera as she used to.

“Not that I did it to feel like I had to keep up, but I guess I just don’t care as much anymore to want to take tons of photos in a thong bikini,” she said.

“I don’t care to take the time out of my day on vacation like I used to ... now I’m just like, ‘Let’s actually live in real time and enjoy it. If we happen to get a photo, great’.”

Senate bill recognising males as rape victims passes second reading#

The Senate has taken the second reading of a bill seeking to remove gender restrictions in the offence of rape and related matters.

If passed, the bill will formally recognise men as victims of rape as applicable.

The bill also seeks to remove the statute of limitation on defilement, while it also seeks increased punishment for kidnapping.

Introduced by Senator Oluremi Tinubu (APC-‎Lagos Central) at the Senate plenary on Tuesday, the SB2 is “A Bill for an Act to amend the Criminal Code Act CAP C38 LFN 2004 to delete the Statute of Limitation on defilement, increase in punishment for the offences of kidnapping, remove gender restrictions in the offence of rape and for related matters, 2019 (SB. 2).”

In response, Senator Bala Na’allah (APC-Kebbi South) expressed support for the bill, but noted that the amendments to criminal code being sought are limited in application to southern states.

Na’allah said, “The criminal code that sought to be amended is only applicable to the southern states.

“The intent of this Bill is to make it on general application in Nigeria, and that is why we must commend Senator Tinubu for this.

“The issue of rape has been a very difficult provision in our statue and dates back to the English Law.”

Also speaking in support, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP-Taraba South) said, “I think this is a bold step in the right direction. I think this is quite commendable.”

Firefighters battle new blaze in California

Hundreds of California firefighters on Tuesday battled a wind-driven brush fire that grew out of control overnight near Santa Barbara, threatening thousands of homes and prompting evacuation orders.

The so-called “Cave Fire” that started on Monday in Los Padres National Forest, grew to nearly 4,300 acres (1,740 hectares) overnight as it moved toward populated areas in the cities of Santa Barbara, Goleta and nearby communities about a two hours’ drive north of Los Angeles.

Some 600 firefighters were battling the blaze that prompted evacuation orders for about 2,300 homes, or nearly 5,500 people.

Fire officials said helicopters and fixed-wing planes were assisting the firefighters who faced steep, rugged terrain.

Authorities said the fire, the cause of which was unknown, was zero per cent contained by midday Tuesday but they were hopeful that a storm set to arrive in the area later in the day would help extinguish the flames.

The blaze comes on the heels of a series of major fires that erupted in the state last month destroying homes and vineyards and forcing thousands of people to flee.

NANS warns FG over hate speech, social media bills

The national leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has cautioned the Federal Government over the proposed Social Media Bill and the Hate Speech Bill and called on Nigerians to raise their voices against the two bills.

At a press conference held at the Iweirohin House of the Nigeria Union of journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the National Public Relations Officer of the Association, Azeez Adeyemi, described the bills as anti-human which if allowed to stand could undermine the rights of Nigerians.

“Our attention has been drawn to an attempt by the federal government of Nigeria in connivance with a senator representing Niger-East, Senator Muhammad Sani Musa to silence the Nigeria populace especially the youth of which the students constitute it largest percentage through a social media bill.” he said.

“The bill had last week passed the second reading at the floor of the red chamber, which means it is on it way to becoming a law”.

“Part 3 (12) of the bill gives law enforcement agencies the power to shut down access to the internet and social media without recourse to the National Assembly or a court.”

“There is no doubt that the Nigerian government is all out to clamp down on critics of their anti-human policies and acts. However, any government going this way, is gradually moving toward anarchy, a point Nigerian students will resist with every strength we have.”

“In a related development, through Sen. Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Deputy Chief Whip), the Nigerian government is also backing a Hate Speech Bill, otherwise called the ‘Prohibition of Hate Speech Bill’.”

He believes that the bills could infringe on the fundamental rights of Nigerians.

“These bills are tactical moves to shut the ordinary man, youths and the journalist to pave way for their impunity.”

“If this bill is allowed to thrive, the government will be vested with the sole power to determine what a hate speech is, and as a result witch shunt opponents and even journalists.”

“On this note, Nigerian students stand firm against the social media bill in totality and every other thing it might stand for.”

“We have students in other countries of the world but they will never be caged the way Nigerian government is trying to muscle us as if they want the world to end in this century.”

“Even when the social media bill is yet to be passed into law, lawmakers are beginning to witch shunt our students who talk about their anti-masses behaviors on social media.”

“It should be noted that only a students/elite could identified most of these wicked act of politicians as some of them poses to be good intentions even when they meant the opposite.”

An injury to one, is an injury to others

“As we speak, one of our students, a second-year student in the Department of Science and Technology Education, Bayero University,

Yahuza Tijjani is currently in prison custody for speaking his mind on his Facebook wall allegedly against a member of the state assembly. ”

“He was picked since September 30, 2019, after posting the following on his Facebook wall “You know he’s not well educated, as a result of which he doesn’t know how to calculate figures. He said 1230, he later said 1500 and at the ended saying 2000.”

“In another post, Tijjani also wrote, “I pray to God almighty that the election petition tribunal [will] declare the election of state’s assembly member representing Madobi as inconclusive”.

“For posting the above, the lawmaker through the police got Tijani arrested, make him spend seven days at the state criminal investigation department, Police ‘Zone 1’ regional headquarters in Kano state before he was sent to jail by the magistrate.”

“However, the lawmaker, Kabiru Is’mail, and Tijjanis are natives of Madobi Local Government Area.”

“Clearly, this is a complete case of inhumanity to man and such power drunk attitude will not be allowed against any of our students in the country. ”

“To this end, we appeal to the said Hon. Kabiru Is’mail to as a matter of urgency release Tijjanis within the next 72 hours or joined the list of enemies of our students as we are ready to fight any oppressor to stand still on this issue.”

“We however enjoin our students in Kano state to remain calm and not take laws into their own hands as we shall confront when the time for that comes.”

“The National President of NANS, Com. Danielson Akpan has, however, directed that state Chairmen of NANS with indigenous students associations should stage a peaceful protest to their different state assemblies after which there will be a national students protest to the National Assembly against this anti masses bill.” he concluded

Trump honours hero dog that helped corner ISIS chief

Donald Trump saluted the hero dog which helped corner ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi - but the pooch appeared to prefer Vice President Mike Pence.

Conan, the military working dog, was given a medal for his heroics in capturing the terror leader .

"This is the ultimate fighter.  Ultimate everything," Trump said at a special ceremony at the White House.

"It's incredible, the sense of smell, or whatever it may be,' Trump said of service dogs' talent.

"They were going to put a muzzle on the dog and I thought that was a good idea, but then it gets even more violent.

"Conan is a tough cookie. No one is going to mess with Conan."

Despite the praise, Conan solicited pats from Mr Pence in the background. The politician repeatedly stroked the dog outside the White House as Mr Trump, 73, gushed at some length.

Conan was hurt when he helped run down the ISIS chief. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi eventually blew himself up in the raid last month.

Paying tribute to the cute Belgian Malinois, Mr Pence himself said: "Conan is really a hero."

He too praised the canine.

Last month, the US President tweeted his praise for the military dog.

"AMERICAN HERO," the world leader wrote.

The dog has worked with special operations forces for four years and taken part in about 50 missions.
