Airpeace boss, Onyema’s passport seized by EFCC

Airpeace boss, Onyema’s passport has been seized by EFCC. Recall on the 23rd of November, 2019, Allen Ifechukwu Athan Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace was charged with 27 counts of money laundering by one U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak.

SHortly after that, a US court issued a warrant to arrest Onyema and authorised US marshals service to bring him into custody.

In view of the above, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sunday, went tough on him by seizing his passports and restricting his movement. A source according to The Nation disclosed this.

His words, “Following his interaction with our detectives, it became imperative to restrict his movement to the country because we will need him from time to time.

“We have seized his passports for unfettered comprehensive investigation. And so far, he has cooperated with our team.

“During our interaction, he maintained his innocence. We have, however, made progress in our preliminary investigation”.

On the likelihood of extraditing Onyema to the US, the source added:

“This depends on the MLAT between Nigeria and the US.  For now, we are only investigating.

“The extradition process is within the purview of the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

You should not forget that the EFCC has to investigate, establish prima facie case and arraigning the suspects in court before any extradition application can be initiated.

“The US government knows what to do as far as the invocation of the MLAT is concerned. We are only fulfilling our own part of the collaboration with the relevant US agencies.”

Lord I am humbled and grateful for another year or day I get to live and remember your grace on this faithful day. May your name for ever be on my lips till the day I take my last breath.
Thank you Lord.

A sombre mood engulfed Shieywe village in Soy, Kakamega County after a 29-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself near his girlfriend’s homestead.

The man is said have suspected that his girlfriend had dumped him and married another man.

Soy assistant chief Cornelius Luseno Lusava said the deceased, Peter Katiba, had been in relationship with a 2019 KCSE candidate and the two had promised to marry each other.

Mr Lusava said the deceased had been waiting for the Ivugwi Secondary School graduate to complete her secondary school education before marrying her.

However, he said the girl left home with her mother on Wednesday to attend a relative’s funeral in Lumakanda in the neighbouring Lugari Sub County without informing her lover.

The administrator said the move seemed to have angered and stressed Katiba who thought that his girlfriend had dumped him and opted to marry another man.

After failing to get information on his lover’s whereabouts, Katiba took a wire and went to their gate where he hanged himself.

“His body was discovered in the morning dangling on a wire at the gate to the girl’s home,” said Lusava.

Police took the body to Kitale Hospital mortuary as they launched investigations into the incident.

Men should be allowed to marry 2 wives- Gospel singer

Veteran gospel musician, Stella Seal, formerly known as Stella Dugan says men should be allowed to marry two wives as long as they cater for them.

In a yet to be aired interview with Becky on E With Becks, she argued that allowing this practice will help stop adultery in both men and women.

“If a married man can be responsible enough to take another wife instead of having multiple girlfriends, then let him.

“If you think you love the woman enough, do the needful or fix your marriage. I speak to ladies who tell me they have four to six boyfriends just because they don’t know who will give them security.”

Congratulating Adeyemi amounts to congratulating armed robber – Dino Melaye

Embattled Senator Dino Melaye has refused to congratulate his conqueror, Senator Smart Adeyemi, saying doing so amounted to congratulating an armed robber.

Melaye lost the Kogi West Senatorial District election to Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

INEC’s Returning Officer of the election, Professor Olajide Lawal, had said Adeyemi, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District from 2007-2015, polled 88,373 votes to beat Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 62,133 votes.

Melaye has rejected the result and vowed to challenge the outcome in court.

In series of tweets on Sunday night, Melaye said “Congratulating Smart Adeyemi will amount to congratulating an armed robber after successful operation.”

He said no lover of democracy would “celebrate the shameful and temporary removal of the ‘Voice of the Voiceless,’ Senator Dino Melaye from the Nigerian Senate by the APC ‘gun-ment.’ Dino will never die!”

Melaye also tweeted that Adeyemi just lied on national TV that 10 of his bills was signed into law.

“I challenge him to name 6 bills he sponsored talk less of being assented to. How many bills did President Jonathan signed into law that he alone got 10. Egbami ooo he lied about FOI too,” he said.
