Woman 'cut up and remains thrown in bins by convicted drug dealer she met online'

A woman was allegedly chopped into pieces and her remains dumped in different bins by a convicted drug dealer she met online.

Jorge Ignacio Palma, 37, is understood to have made the horrifying confession after giving himself up to detectives investigating the disappearance of Marta Calvo Buron.

Martha, 25, vanished on November 7 after arranging online to meet Palma at his rented home near the east coast Spanish city of Valencia.

Palma was thought to have fled to Italy before it was reported yesterday he had been in hiding.

He had already been linked to a previous police investigation in April after detectives discovered he had been the last client of a prostitute who reportedly died after suffering convulsions moments after he fled the brothel in Valencia.

Police have already searched rubbish bins in his home town and surrounding villages and are now understood to be focusing on waste plants and municipal tips.

Spanish media reports said a waste plant collecting household rubbish from the area where Palma lived had been ordered to suspend operations at midday yesterday to facilitate the search for Marta’s body parts.

After Palma's reported confession, it is not yet clear what he told cops during a subsequent formal interview in the presence of his defence lawyer.

Juan Carlos Fulgencio, a central government spokesman for the Valencia region, said after the suspect’s arrest: “We could be looking not only at a disappearance, but also at a physical aggression that could have resulted in Marta’s violent death.

“Jorge Ignacio has been arrested, he is in Spain and he is going to be questioned about Marta’s violent disappearance.

“The hypothesis that’s always been on the table is that she suffered a violent assault that possibly caused her death.”

Palma, who returned to Spain after being jailed for drugs trafficking following his 2008 arrest, vanished five days after Marta’s disappearance.

He is said to have handed himself into police after being pressured into doing so by his family.

The rented home where he was last seen with Marta, and a car he is suspected of trying to have disposed of at a scrapyard, had already been searched by police.

Detectives knew where the missing woman had been the night she was last seen because she sent a WhatsApp to her mum with her exact location on as a precaution.

Kim Kardashian 's best mate reckons she and Kanye West will definitely make it to the White House.

Rapper Kanye has said before that he plans to run for President, following in the footsteps of his friend Donald Trump .

And while many think there's no way it will happen, some believe it's a very strong possibility that Kimye will become the President and First Lady of the United States.

Kim's friend Jonathan Cheban, who has officially changed his name to Foodgod, even said he'll be joining them there.


He told MailOnline : "I think we’re going to somehow end up in the White House. I don’t know what my role is going to be, but somehow, someway we’re going to make it in that White House."

He added: "I need a position in the White House. I want to make sure all the kids have great school lunches. I could be social secretary, something fun."

Kanye, who shares four children with wife Kim, has dropped plenty of hints that he'll run for President in 2024.

Strike looms in Ogun over minimum wage

The organised labour in Ogun State has threatened to begin strike any moment from Friday  (today) over the national minimum wage.

The organised labour comprises  Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress lamented that their series of requests to meet Governor Dapo Abiodun over the issue were ignored.

They therefore submitted that due to the alleged delay by the government in the negotiation on the new national minimum wage, they could no longer guarantee industrial harmony in the state.

The declaration was contained in a letter dated November 22, 2019 addressed to the governor through the Head of Service, Lanre Bisiriyu.


The letter was titled “Concern Over The Delay In The Negotiation on the New National Minimum Wage And Other Sundry Issues.”

The letter was jointly signed by the Chairman of the NLC , Emmanuel Bankole and his counterpart in the TUC, Olubunmi Fajobi; the Chairman, Joint Negotiating Council, Folorunso Bankole and the Secretary, Adebiyi Olusegun.

According to the union,  the government’s failure to hold a formal meeting with the labour portends that the latter (labour) is seen as inconsequential in the algorithms of advancing the cause of our dear state but as well has been positioned on master-servant scale of industrial relationship.”

The body, however, asked Abiodun to set up negotiating committee on the minimum wage on or before  Friday  (today) or risk industrial disharmony.

The labour unions argued that the “industrial peace currently being experienced in the state may  not be assured any further in the event that our call received no further action not later than Friday, 6th December, 2019.”

24-year-old man trapped in well in Lagos

A 24-year-old man, Yusuf Olajide, accidentally fell into a well at Iju Ishaga area of Lagos on Thursday. The man was said to be rescued by men of the Lagos State Fire Service.

The Chief Public Affairs of the service, Mr Dosunmu Jamiu, in a statement, said residents of the area initially thought the victim was dead.

He said, “Men from the Agege Fire Station carried out a rescue operation at No. 16, Oladimeji Oladipupo St., Enilolobo Bus Stop, Iju Ishaga.

“The rescue operation was carried out on a 24-year- old boy, Yusuf Olajide, who accidentally fell into a well.

“Olajide suspected to have died in the well was, however, rescued alive by the men of the fire service.”

INEC sets January 25 for 28 rerun polls

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed January 25, 2020, for the conduct of the 28 outstanding court-ordered rerun elections across in the country.

The commission announced this yesterday in Abuja in a statement by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.

The statement said the election petition tribunals constituted to try cases that arose from the 2019 general elections received 807 post-election petitions, out of which 582 were dismissed and 183 withdrawn by the petitioners.

It explained that of the remaining 42 cases, 30 were decided for rerun and 12 ordered to give Certificates of Return.

Of the 30 rerun cases, two – Kogi West Senatorial District supplementary rerun election and Ajaokuta Federal Constituency – were conducted on November 30.

Aisha Buhari, Nigeria’s First Lady spoke from London on Thursday  and declared that she cannot be stopped from voicing out her opinion on issues in the country, because she has the constitutional right to free expression.

She was speaking as a guest caller on the popular TVC Programme, Journalists’ Hangout .

Some of the controversies she stirred with her comment on  the need to regulate social media, the state of insecurity and poverty, her carpeting governors and ministers for not  doing enough for the people were the issues in focus on the forum on Thursday.

Asked whether she has been told to stop talking. She retorted: “Who will stop me? Everybody is talking in the country. Everybody should talk. It is freedom of speech”, she said.


Does she engage in pillow talk with her husband,  President Buhari about the state of the nation, she joked: “There is no pillow in the Villa”, including the “other room”.

She clarified that she did not specifically blame the governors when she spoke last week at  the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs General Assembly and National Executive Council Meeting held at the National Mosque in Abuja, because she is aware the problems the country is going through have piled up as a result of total long-term neglect.

“We are all suffering from it. Whether you are an executive  or ordinary citizen. We can’t go to our villages  and sleep with  two eyes closed. It cuts across”.

David Beckham is seen parked illegally and using a phone weeks after completing driving ban

Footballing legend David Beckham has been spotted parking illegally on a yellow line while holding his phone at the wheel.

The 44-year-old looked to be texting while sat at a busy junction in West London, with other drivers having to pull out to pass his £146,000 Mercedes-AMG G63.

The father-of-four has recently completed a driving ban and could now face further fines after he left his engine running for over twenty minutes.

He also had his headlights and wipers on and was using his mobile device in a car that was not safely parked.

Photos: 9 year-old girl hangs self in parents' bedroom

A 9-year-old girl, identified as Favour, a  student of the St. Theresa's Convent High School in Monrovia was found hanged in her parents' bedroom.

She was found hanged with a rope attached to a board cover often used as storage for dishes in her parents' house in Monrovia, Liberia on Wednesday, December 4.

The cause of  her death is yet to be established. However, Liberians have call for thorough investigation.

Ondo killer cop arrested for murdering truck driver

Three days after running away, the Ondo State Police Command, on Thursday, said it had arrested the policeman, who allegedly shot dead a truck driver in Uso on the Akure-Owo Expressway in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

The alleged killer cop, identified as Sergeant Idowu Omosuyi, attached to the Federal Highway Patrol, allegedly shot the driver, Ado Saleh, in the head following an argument that ensued between them on Monday.

The incident had led to a protest by other truck drivers and residents of the town, who demanded that the killer policeman must be brought to justice.


Omosuyi was alleged to have dropped his gun and ran away immediately after committing the crime and was declared wanted by the command.

Five other members of the team had already been arrested and were being detained at the command’s headquarters in Akure.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, said in a statement that the culprit reported at the command headquarters and was already facing orderly room trial.

The statement read in part, “The Ondo State Police Command is pleased to inform the general public that the errant policeman, Sergeant Idowu Omosuyi, who shot and killed a haulage driver at a checkpoint in Uso, near Owo, a few days ago, has turned himself in.

“He surrendered himself this afternoon (Thursday) to a team of investigators constituted by the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State, to probe the incident. He is presently undergoing orderly room trial at the state command headquarters, Akure. This development will no doubt enable us to conclude our investigation speedily and charge the suspect as soon as possible.”

The statement added that the command would never shield any of its personnel who committed any infraction or illegality.

SARS arrests murder, kidnap suspects in Imo

The operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have arrested two kidnap and murder suspects said to be terrorising the Oguta area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the suspects, Nneji Onumajun, 29, and Obioma Abua, 25, were arrested for allegedly killing one Iheanacho Okorie.

Ikeokwu stated, “On November 14, 2019, at the Ogbefu Market square, Agwa, in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, SARS operatives, upon a written petition by a family over the murder of their son, Iheanacho Okorie, aka Otika, we swung into action.

“Following a tip-off, two suspects, Nneji Onumajun, 29, and Obioma Abua, 25, were arrested in connection with the killing.


“On December 2, 2019, after professional diligence, interrogation and interviews, the two suspects confessed to the crime. They confessed to how the two of them and a third person, who is at large, pursued the victim on a motorcycle before he was shot at close range at the Ogbefu Market, Agwa, Oguta LGA of Imo State.

“Not satisfied with the shooting, they also used a knife to stab him all over his body. Investigation is ongoing and further developments will be communicated.”

R.Kelly faces bribery charge over marriage to Aaliyah

R. Kelly is facing a new bribery charge allegedly related to the disgraced singer's 1994 marriage to fellow R&B singer Aaliyah.

The new charge accused R. Kelly of scheming with others to pay for a “fraudulent identification document” for someone identified only as “Jane Doe” on Aug. 30, 1994, according to a superseding indictment unsealed on Thursday and obtained by Fox News.

A day later, Kelly, then 27, married Aaliyah, who was 15 at the time, in a secret ceremony arranged by Kelly at a hotel in Chicago. The marriage was annulled months later because of her age.

The indictment did not mention the wedding. However, a person familiar with the investigation confirmed to Fox News that "Jane Doe" was Aaliyah and that the fake ID listing her age as 18 was to be used to obtain a marriage license.


The indictment didn't identify the person who was paid the bribe in order to get the fake ID, except to say that the person was a public employee.

Prosecutors on Thursday also submitted an index of evidence produced, which shows that the document in question was a birth certificate.
Kelly's attorney, Douglas Anton, told The Associated Press the latest charge against his client was “ridiculous and absurd."

The Brooklyn prosecutors already had charged the 52-year-old singer -- whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly -- with racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and sexual exploitation. They alleged he and his employees and assistants picked out women and girls at concerts and groomed them for sexual abuse. He has pleaded not guilty.

Everton sack Marco Silva as manager

Everton have sacked manager Marco Silva after 18 months, with the club in the Premier League relegation zone after their Merseyside derby humiliation.

Wednesday's 5-2 defeat by Liverpool at Anfield was their ninth of the season and leaves them 18th in the Premier League after three successive losses.

Silva, who took charge in May 2018, won 24 and lost 24 of his 60 games. One of the early candidates to succeed Silva is reported to be his compatriot, Shanghai SIPG's Vitor Pereira.

Former striker Duncan Ferguson has been put in temporary charge and will manage the side against Chelsea on Saturday.

The club said they aim to appoint a new manager "as swiftly as possible".

Nigerian Taoheed Bayo designs sneaker for Nike

Taoheed Bayo, a Nigerian student at University of Minnesota of is making waves after designing a sneaker for Nike, that mirrors his Nigerian and African heritage.

Bayo’s roommate had messaged him about a Nike design challenge that he thought Bayo could not pass up.

Nike had put the word out it was seeking designers to deliver a unique riff on the company’s classic sneaker. Weeks later, the Nigeria native and model was among three dozen across the country chosen to compete in the Nike BY You X Cultivator contest.

Each had two weeks to create their own Nike shoe and develop a unique backstory that could appeal to consumers. Once that was done, they had to market and sell their custom sneaker.

Bayo, 21, reached back to his Nigerian roots and youth for inspiration, creating a shoe grounded in his heritage. The result: the Afro-Yute Air Max 1. The Afro-Yute’s been selling, but it’s also delivered something else Bayo had wanted — it’s teaching others about Africa.

“The most intense part, it was the designing,” said Bayo, who also goes by TBuzz. “The most integral part I think was having a story that resonates with a lot of people and making sure that it’s authentic as possible. But, you’re also trying to design a shoe that you want everybody to buy, not just something you like.”

Bayo settled on green for the shoe base because it represented Earth and Africa. Like the Nigerian flag, he chose white as a compliment to the earthy color.

In the comment sections, young people shared their enthusiasm for Bayo’s project, while others visited Nike’s website to purchase his Nike Air Max 1s.

 With the Nike Challenge over for now, Bayo is back focusing on finishing his degree in actuarial science, a study that combines math, statistics and insurance.

 He said he isn’t overly concerned about his shoe sales. By the end of the year he’ll know how Afro-Yute did compared to his fellow Nike creatives.

For now, he is more concerned that young people learn about their history and talk to their parents about their family ancestry.


“I was born in Africa. I was born out of my roots,” he said. “For all the people that was born in the United States, it’s your duty, whether you like it or not to seek your truth and, you know, find your heritage.”

YouTuber arrested for criticising Moroccan king

A Moroccan social media influencer has appeared in court after he posted criticism of both King Mohammed VI and the general public.

Mohamed Sekkaki, whose YouTube commentaries attract tens of thousands of viewers, had said that the king's speeches were useless.

He also described his fellow citizens as ignorant, saying they watched their rights being flouted without saying a word.

The public prosecutor's office said Mr Sekkaki had been arrested following several complaints from citizens about the "insults and degrading descriptions" in a video, AFP news agency reports"

In Morocco, the king is regarded as being beyond public criticism, and the charges Mr Sekkaki faces include showing contempt for the country's institutions.

Kenya floods: Teenager dies trying to rescue man

Rescuers in Kenya have retrieved the body of a teenager who drowned as she tried to save a man who had got into trouble as he was crossing a swollen river.

Anna Nduku, 19, fell into the Kandisi river near Ongata Rongai, on the outskirts of the capital, Nairobi, on Tuesday.

She is one of more than 130 people who have died as a result of the flooding caused by the heavy rains that have been falling since October.

Ms Nduku was responding to the cries of help of a man who was clinging to part of a bridge that was under construction.

The man survived but as she tried to save him she fell into the river.

India woman set on fire on her way to court for her r.a.p.e case hearing

A 23-year-old alleged rape victim is fighting for her life after she was set on fire while going to court in northern India.

The woman was on her way to a hearing in the case she filed against two men in March, in Uttar Pradesh.

She is in critical condition in hospital, where she is being treated for severe burns.

Five men including two of her alleged rapists have been arrested on suspicion of setting her on fire, police say.


The woman was on her way to a train station when a group of men assaulted her and dragged her to a nearby field, where they set her on fire, according to reports in local media.

The incident occurred in Unnao district, which was recently in the news over another rape case.
