Love Island host Caroline Flack arrested and charged with assault after bust-up
Six police cars were pictured outside the 40-year-old presenter's London home, where she lives with her tennis player beau Lewis Burton, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A Met Police spokesperson told Daily Star Online : "Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday, 13 December with assault by beating. She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 December.
"This follows an incident at approximately 05:25hrs on Thursday, 12 December after reports of a man being assaulted. He was not seriously injured."
The man was treated by paramedics.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called yesterday (Thursday 12 December) at 5.28am to reports of a person unwell in Islington.
"We sent an ambulance to the scene and took a person to hospital."
A man, who is believed to be Caroline's 27-year-old boyfriend Lewis, was treated for injuries.

5 men who drugged and gang-raped British mum on holiday are jailed for a total of 36 years
The 50-year-old victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was targeted with a date rape drug on the last day of her holiday with her daughter in Naples.
Judge Francesco Todisco handed down the sentences to five current and former Hotel Alimuri staff at the court in Torre Annunziata.
Gennearo Davide Gargiulo, was given nine years, Antonio Miner and Fabio De Virgilio, were both given eight years, while Francesco D'antonio and Rafaela Regio got seven and four years respectively.
Lucilla Longone, the woman's lawyer, told The Sun: ''My client was waiting apprehensively at home for the verdict. When I told her the outcome she was delighted and thanked me for my help.
"Hopefully this decision will now help her get on with her life.''
Following the sentencing, police were called to the courtroom to provide security for the judge and court staff after family members of the men hurled abuse at them and refused to clear the court.
The mother-of-one and her 26-year-old daughter had travelled from Kent, south England to Sorrento in October 2016, following the death of her husband.
Prosecutor Antonio Barba said in the court: "There is evidence this group sex attack was carried out with the use of drugs."
DNA from two men was found in the victim's fingernails and matched two of the accused Antonino Miniero and Francesco Ciro D'Antonio.
The court heard the woman and her daughter were served spiked drinks by two barmen at the hotel.
Prosecutors say the victim was taken to a store room close to the swimming pool where she was raped twice before being handed over to the barmens' colleagues.
She was then taken to a staff room where she was attacked again before she was taken back to her room and dumped.
The daughter, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she felt unwell after the drinks and went to the toilet to throw up and returned to find her mother had vanished.
She told the court: "The staff at the restaurant were very polite. Then one of the barmen offered my mother and I drink in some shot glasses.
"One of them had a tattoo on his neck. They invited us to the bar for a drink after we finished our dinner.
"I remember having a drink and then almost immediately feeling sick."
However, when she came back her mother had vanished.
She previously told the court: "My mum seemed distant and far away. She broke down in tears at the airport as we were leaving and told me everything that happened.
"[The night of the attack] We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and shared a bottle of wine. We were with another couple of holidaymakers.
"I remember having a drink and then almost immediately feeling sick. I went to the toilet and threw up. I was there for a while and when I came back my mum had disappeared."
The mother said she had been photographed during the attack and was taken back to her room and dumped before she returned to Britain the next day.

Russia jails Jehovah's Witness adherent for six years
A court in Penza, around 350 miles (563 km) southeast of Moscow, said in a statement it had jailed Vladimir Alushkin, 55, after an investigation had shown he was continuing to run a local branch of the U.S.-headquartered Christian denomination despite the group being outlawed as extremist in Russia.
It said it had also handed suspended two-year prison sentences to five other adherents.
Jehovah’s Witnesses have been under pressure for years in Russia, where the dominant Orthodox Church is championed by President Vladimir Putin. Orthodox scholars have cast them as a dangerous foreign sect that erodes state institutions and traditional values, allegations they reject.
“Vladimir’s six-year prison sentence is one of the harshest imposed on one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since the 2017 ban,” said Jarrod Lopes, a spokesman for the group.
“Russian authorities have remained obstinate in the face of repeated criticism from prominent international bodies and human rights advocates. The current state of religious freedom in Russia is reminiscent of Soviet times.”

Ex Catholic Bishop, Okogie also blows hot, says Buhari returning to Nigeria to Military era
Okogie, a former Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, decried the frequent disobedience to court orders by the current regime led by President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
Okogie’s comments are contained in a statement he sent to Saturday Punch titled, ‘Corruption and Repression.’
He said, “The painful and sad reality we face is that we live in a country where leaders are very distant from the led. We need leaders who are neither blind to the suffering of the people nor deaf to their cries; leaders who listen to the people, leaders who have the courage to be humble, and who are therefore ready to admit that they are wrong when they are wrong.
“In a democracy, those who govern are chosen by the people to represent the people. And if they are to represent the people, they must listen to the people. Not only do true democrats listen, they also are not afraid of dissenting opinions. They do not arrogate to themselves the power to accuse, arrest, prosecute and convict. But can we candidly say we have democrats at the helm of affairs in this country at this point in time?
“How can we claim to live in a democracy when presidential spokespersons tell us the presidency is always right? It is important to remind our political leaders at the federal, state and local levels of government that they cannot enforce laws if they cannot obey the law.”
He added, “If the executive disobeys court rulings, and if it intimidates and humiliates the judiciary, then we are back to the era when a military junta made laws and interpreted them without any regard for fundamental human rights. We have returned to a sinful past when citizens could be abducted and locked up in detention without trial under the pretext of acting in the interest of national security.”
According to the retired bishop, repression of dissenting opinions was a major factor that led to the end of the First Republic.
“But Nigerians do not want military rule anymore. Having experienced two painful bouts of military dictatorship, two periods in Nigeria’s history when men in uniform, trained and paid to protect the land and its people, visited untold brutality on the civilian population, we all must resolve to be responsible for protecting democracy in this country,” he stated.
The Cardinal also recalled that it was during the military rule that Nigeria was plunged into an avoidable civil war. He said the war could have been avoided if political actors had adhered faithfully to democratic principles.
He added that their failure to do so provided opportunistic elements in the Nigerian military with an excuse for mass murder.
“Innocent lives were lost before and during that war. A month to the 50th anniversary of the end of that war, factors that led to the war are being reawakened. Our democracy is in danger because of corruption and dictatorship,” he said.

Toni Payne affirms she is still opened to love

My sickness is spiritual, Pa Kasumu insists
The popular Yoruba actor whose health status became worrisome after a video showed his frail state, told Saturday Beats that all he needs are fervent prayers and not financial aid from well-wishers and well-meaning Nigerians.
Pa Kasumu said, “For now, I don’t need any help. All I need is prayer. All I can say about my sickness is that it is spiritual. That’s why I said it requires prayer. I’m currently at a church camp for its annual congress. God should take care of me. I will stay at the camp till the congress ends.”
The actor, who has been absent from the movie scene since he fell ill 10 years ago, revealed that it was the first time he would seek spiritual help. He also dismissed reports that he is now totally blind. He said, “RCCG is the first place I’ve gone for prayers. But, they have also been praying for me in my church in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos. I came from Abeokuta to the camp today (Wednesday).
“The doctors are just saying their own. They said I had a partial stroke. It affected my left side and to some extent, my sight.
“My wife and children have been taking care of me. The sickness started a long time ago. But I had the partial stroke nine years ago.”
Reacting to reports that his smoking habits contributed to his sickness, Kasumu said people were just ‘talking rubbish’.
A son of the actor, Bode Odumosu, also spoke on his father’ health status. He reiterated that his father needs prayers, not financial aid.
“I am his second son and we (his children) have been taking care of him. We didn’t reach out to anyone. People only became alarmed about Pa Kasumu’s condition after a video of him at Foluke Daramola’s event went viral,” he said.

'No survivors' on plane that vanished with 38 on board as human remains found
Human remains have been found in he ocean after the C-130 Hercules went down en route to the Antarctic.
The aircraft was transporting 17 crew members and 21 passengers, but the head of Chile's air
force Arturo Merino told reporters, there were no survivors.
The aircraft, which was heading to a military base in Antarctica, disappeared shortly after taking off late on Monday from the southern city of Punta Arenas in Chilean Patagonia.
"The condition of the remains we discovered make it practically impossible that anyone could havesurvived the airplane accident," Mr Merino said.

Sowore: Attorney General takes over the case from DSS
A statement by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr. Umar Gwandu, confirmed this on Friday.
The statement referred to December 11, 2019, a letter sent on behalf of the AGF by the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Mr. Dayo Apata (SAN), to the Director-General of DSS, Yusuf Bichi, directing the security agency to “promptly forward all the case files” to the AGF.
The statement by the media aide to the AGFread in part, “The Solicitor General of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Justice, Dayo Apata who signed the letter referred to a letter from the DSS office on September 9, 2019″.
It quoted Apata’s letter as stating that ” the Honorable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice upon a further review of the case has directed the immediate takeover of the prosecution of all charges in respect of Omoyele Sowore by the Federal Ministry of Justice in line with the provisions of Sections 150(1) and 174(1) (a-c) of the 1999 constitution (as amended)”.

Mob set mentally ill man ablaze for killing nine
Punch Metro gathered that Orusa, who was a trader, had developed a mental illness and some good Samaritans, who saw him misbehaving, took him to his parents’ house, where he was being treated.
According to a source, Orusa’s condition improved while receiving treatment at home, but all of a sudden, he suffered a relapse and started threatening to attack people.
“Everyone thought that his condition had improved until he started shouting that he wanted to kill somebody. Everyone around him had to run, but he took a machete, attacked and killed some people,” the source said.
Punch Metro learnt that Orusa attacked residents of both Nempi and Akatta communities.
However, an online commentator said that Orusa’s family abandoned him by refusing to get medical help.
According to the post, Orusa’s condition worsened and he allegedly attacked and killed nine people, including his grandfather and the grandfather’s third wife as well as five of his cousins and two neighbours.
Youths, who were angered by the incident, were alleged to have descended on Orusa and burned him alive.
The post read in part, “A mentally ill boy, identified as Chigozie Orusa, has been subjected to jungle justice after killing nine people in Nempi, Imo State.
“Orusa suddenly developed mental illness and was returned to his family for adequate attention. However, his family members didn’t get him any medical help despite his worsening condition.
“In the early hours of December 8, 2019, Orusa went wild and machete nine people to death.
“He was later overpowered by the youth of the community and set ablaze.”
Nigerians, while reacting to the online post, condemned Orusa’s family for abandoning him despite his condition, and also criticised the youth for applying jungle justice on him.
Olowu wrote, “Wow! If they had kept him in a mental asylum or something, this wouldn’t have happened. Ignorance kills, rest in peace to the dead.”
“Why would they set him ablaze when he’s already mentally derailed and when there are correctional centres?” he wrote through @unified_wale.
However, while reacting to the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeoku, said Orusa killed two persons and injured six others before the angry mob killed him and set his corpse ablaze.

Man to die for killing father in Bauchi
Justice Aliyu Usman found Umaru guilty of culpable homicide after reviewing the testimonies of witnesses and listening to the final addresses of both the prosecution and the defence counsel.
In his judgment, Usman said, “The death of the victim was as result of the act of the accused and the prosecution counsel has proved their case beyond reasonable doubt; the accused is hereby found guilty of culpable of homicide, an offence that is punishable by death under Section 221 of the Penal Code. I, hereby sentence him to die by hanging.”
Earlier while reviewing the case, Justice Usman held that the State Chief Counsel, Hussein Magaji, told the court that the accused went into a mosque in Mai’aduwa and struck his father in his head and back with a cutlass.
Usman said as a result of the convict’s action, the deceased sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Misau General Hospital, where he died the following day from the injuries he sustained from the attack.
The judge also noted that Umaru denied the charges and pleaded not guilty during trial, but the prosecution counsel brought 10 witnesses who, in their separate statements as recorded by the police during investigation, testified that the convict killed his father.
He also noted that a brother to the deceased, Umar Jatau, 70, and the convict’s brother, Ibrahim Jauro-Ori, 26, stated that Umaru had a problem with his father and other family members.
The judge also said the witnesses told the court that the deceased shared with the convict and his brother their inheritance, after which Umaru left the village for over 10 months with nobody knowing his whereabouts, until the day he came into the mosque while they were praying and stabbed his father.
The witnesses told the court that the youth in the area pursued the convict, apprehended him and took him to the police station.
They said that the deceased was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving treatment and his body was released to them for burial according to Islamic rights.
Umaru, in his statement to the police, said he was married to one wife and was blessed with three children, adding that he killed his father because he separated him and his wife after he travelled and stayed for a long time.
He stated, “When I returned, I took a machete and entered the mosque, where my father was praying, and stabbed him in his head and back, and he fell down. I ran away and the youth pursued me, apprehended me and beat me mercilessly and injured my right fingers.
“They took our father to hospital and he died while receiving treatment. I haven’t killed a human being before, I am not an armed robber, but this is the first time I killed a human being.”

As well as the sweatshirt, Drake also had a lipstick kiss printed on his hat that is seen as a nod to Kylie and her cosmetics business.
While lip kits are what Kylie is all about, she was over 2500 miles away in Calabasas at the time of Drake's appearance, so while she was not there, she obviously has a place in his mind at the moment.

19-year-old boy impregnates his mother while testing love charm in Asaba
The boy is said to have gone to a native doctor, who prepared a love charm for him to use on his mother and one of the matrons in the college where he is a boarding student.
After using the love charm on his mother, the husband of the woman denied being responsible for the pregnancy because he has been away for some time outside his operational base.
But the victim, the suspect’s mother, while speaking to journalists said:
“I did not know how it happened, but all I can say is that a young man who looked like my son suddenly found his way into my room at the wee hours and I was speechless”, adding that the whole exercise had remained inexplicable.
Speaking at the police headquarters to journalists after being arrested, the suspect said:
“I am deeply sorry for all that has happened, I did not mean to do this. I saw myself falling in love with her after the love charm prepared for me. I have to confess because I know by so doing, God will touch her mind and I know she will forgive me.
“I suddenly found that I was making love to mum when I thought the charm will not work, and upon the revelation, I threatened to kill her and the matter was reported to the police”, he said.
DSP Celestina Kalu, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who confirmed the report, disclosed that the boy was arrested over threat to life.

Anambra land agent in N66.2m mess, arraigned in court
Okoye pleaded not guilty to all the counts preferred against him.
According to the petition brought to EFCC, the defendant allegedly claimed to be a land agent and conspired with his accomplices to defraud the complainant of the sum under the false pretense of purchasing several plots of land.
The land were situated as follows: Four plots of land at Commissioners Quarters, Awka, at the cost of N14,000,000, and another twenty five plots of land at Agu-Awka Industrial Layout at the cost N55,000,000.
Investigation by the Commission revealed that the said land belonged to a serving judge in one of the State High Courts and a former Senator from the state respectively.
