The incident created confusion in the community as two other teenagers were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Wednesday.

All efforts to rescue the victims, who were buried in the sand, failed. Daily Trust gathered that the five children were trying to dig a hole to remove an iron buried beneath the earth at a construction site.

Don’t force marriage on your daughter, Emir warns

The Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, has warned parents and guardians against streets hawking and compulsory marriage of girl-child.

The Royal father gave the warning during the graduation ceremony of 448 girls, who were trained in life skills focusing on letting the girls realize their self- worth and esteem, organized by the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), FAHIMTA, and Gild is Gold (CIGF).

He urged parents to stop forcing girl-child into streets hawking under the pretext of generating personal income and boosting economic status.

The monarch, who was represented by the Dan-Isan Bauchi, Alhaji Ibrahim Yakubu III, said the call became necessary to save the future and wellbeing of the girl child, adding that engaging girl child in street hawking is detrimental to proper upbringing of girls in the society.

The emir also stressed the need for parents and guardians to enroll their children in school, especially the girl-child, noting that educating a girl is equivalent to educating a society.

The WAG, 33, is said to be organising the second wedding after the subject came up during a romantic break in Dubai.

Sources told Closer! magazine that on the trip, Wayne suggested renewing their vows and Coleen agreed.

An insider told the publication: "Wayne suggested it out of the blue during their romantic trip to Dubai and, even though Coleen wasn’t initially keen because she didn’t think it was necessary, she’s now all for it because it will help them move past everything bad that’s happened recently.

“It also proves how committed he is to her.”

Wayne has also reportedly been working on designing a ring for Coleen, which is said to be worth £250,000 and made of alexandrite stone - the gem associated with their wedding month.

Citizenship Act protests: Thousands held across India for defying ban

Indian police have detained thousands who defied a ban on protests against a controversial new citizenship law.

The ban has been imposed in parts of the capital Delhi, and throughout the states of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

Mobile data services are suspended in some parts of Delhi close to protest sites. There have been days of protests across India, some violent.

The new law offers citizenship to non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Among those detained are Ramachandra Guha, a prominent historian and outspoken critic of the government, in the southern city of Bangalore; and political activist in Yogendra Yadav in Delhi.

But tens of thousands of people have still taken to the streets in Uttar Pradesh, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Patna, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Delhi and other cities - civil society groups, political parties, students, activists and ordinary citizens took to social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter, asking people to turn up and protest peacefully.

Woman arrested after baby rescued from bin in Greece

A 24-year-old woman has been arrested after a baby was rescued from a rubbish chute in the Greek city of Kalamata.

The baby, thought to be only days old, was discovered on Wednesday by a local woman who heard it crying from the bin.

The newborn baby's life was reportedly narrowly saved because a rubbish collection van was running late.

"The baby was fortunate in its misfortune... there was a delay in the day's collection," Kalamata's Mayor, Thanassis Vassilopoulos, said.

"The garbage trucks do not just load waste, they compress it," he added in an interview with Alpha TV.

The local woman who found the baby, Vassiliki Tsoni, said the child was found inside a paper bag, several metres down inside the stone rubbish store structure.

"The chute was half full. I was shouting, nobody was stopping to help," she told local website Newsit.

According to Ms Tsoni, some neighbours tried to alleviate her concerns and said the cry she heard must have been coming from a kitten and not a human.

Two police officers later arrived at the scene and were able to rescue the baby. The child was taken to hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery, according to local reports.

Police later confirmed the suspected mother of the baby, who is reportedly a Georgian national, was arrested for attempted murder.

African swine fever: Fears rise as virus spreads to Indonesia

Indonesia has become the latest Asian country to face an outbreak of African swine fever, a deadly pig virus devastating farmers across the region.

On Wednesday, the country's agriculture ministry said nearly 30,000 pigs have died from the disease in North Sumatra.

The virus is expected to wipe out more than half of China's pig herd this year.

Australia has grown increasingly concerned, stepping up biosecurity measures to keep swine fever out.

Although it's harmless to humans, the disease can kill pigs within a few days, and the fatality rate can be up to 100%, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The virus is particularly robust, and is able to survive for seven days without a host, and for months in frozen pork products.
