Davido shows off his outfit... puts special attention on jewelry (see photos)

The singer ofcus loves to show off (showbiz init?), but then, in new photos he shared, he placed special attention on his shoes, wristwatch and necklaces. In the photos, he gave an attitude like CAN YOU SEE THEM? REAL DEALS lol. Hopefully, it has nothing to do with Timaya's rant.

''I am conversant with much of world history yet I have NEVER read or heard of a people that are more comfortable with tyranny & bondage & pleased with poverty & suffering than Nigerians.

Push a Nigerian to the wall & rather than fight back he will dig a hole into it to escape''. Lol.

Nigerian father of Farouk Abdulmutallab who tried to bomb a US-bound plane speaks 10 years after

Ten years after the foiled bombing of a US-bound flight from Amsterdam, Alhaji Umaru Abdul Mutallab, the father of the underwear bomber, Farouk, has spoken publicly about the incident for the first time, describing it as the most trying time of his life.

Mutallab senior, who is 80 years old, said he initially thought his son’s passport was stolen by the bomber and was shattered when he confirmed it. Farouk then was a student of engineering at University College, London.

“When I heard about the incident, I never believed it was him. I thought someone stole his passport and tried to do that. But I discovered two days later that he was the one”, he told the Daily Trust newspaper in an interview.

Is there any time you can describe as your most trying moment?, the newspaper asked the respected former minister and corporate titan in Nigeria:

“I would say the Mallam Farouk incident was the most trying time of my life”, he replied.

“I continue to pray for him. We visit him and he calls a couple of times. We cannot call him but he can call us. We know he is going through a very difficult time, so we pray for mercy on his behalf.

“We may one day see him after our lives because he was sentenced to three life terms plus some years without parole… He might not be out again to see us. So maybe we will see in the afterlife. He prays for us and we pray for him. This is how we are dealing with the situation. Allah knows best”.

Farouk Abdulmutallab is now serving a life sentence without parole for attempting to bomb US-bound flight passengers on Christmas Day 2009.

He pleaded guilty to eight counts against him, including terrorism and attempted murder for attempting to blow up a commercial plane as a would-be suicide bomber for al-Qaeda.

The bomb sewn into Farouk’s underwear that would have blown up the plane failed to detonate fully when he tried to activate it, thus saving the lives of the almost 300 people on the flight from Amsterdam to Detroit.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), a militant group based in Yemen, said it was behind the attempted attack.

CBN issues new guidelines, slashes banks' ATM withdrawal fees from N65 to N35

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reduced charges applicable on electronic bank transactions for account holders across the country.

Details of the new charges are contained in the latest Guide to Charges by Banks and Other Financial Institutions released by the CBN on Sunday.

According to the CBN, the withdrawal fee charged for the use of other banks’ Automated Teller Machines has been slashed to N35 from N65. The new N35 ATM fee is to be imposed on customers after the third withdrawal within one month, the new guide said.

The CBN revealed further that bank customers will now pay N10 for electronic transfers below N5,000, and N25 for electronic transfer between N5,000 and N50,000. Only electronic transfer above N50,000 will attract N50 charge, it added.

Jimi Odukoya dresses like a homeess man to see how kind people are this Christmas and it's quite humbling

Oh dear! Son of late Pastor Mrs Bimbo Odukoya, Jimi Odukoya dressed up as a homeless man in need and walked into a Lagos mall to beg people to help him pay for a loaf of bread and water so he could have something to eat.

Some turned him down, others decided to help, while he also helped out too.

Watch as how the event unfolded. More importantly, how people would have treated YOU if  you were in need this Christmas.

How Ajimobi awarded dubious contracts, padded budget – Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde on December 21, 2019 painted a gory picture of the alleged corrupt practices that characterised the administration of his predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the management of the affairs of the state.

Makinde stated that the era of the immediate past administration was characterised by corruption, budget padding, mismanagement of funds, kickback syndrome, inflation of contracts’ fees, lop-sidedness in projects management, award of contracts only to their cronies and re-awarding of projects at double price, among others.

He made this disclosure on a live programme of the Oyo State Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State tagged ‘Live chat with GSM, a quarterly session with the Oyo State Governor’.

He said, “If I should talk about the finances of Oyo State as at the time we came on board, some people will not be able to walk on the streets. Up till date, we have not bought vehicles for the office holders. If we are to buy official vehicles for myself and other office holders, we will not spend less than N3 billion and we cannot afford that now. Up till today, I am still using my personal cars in office.

“Our priority is to the people. We prioritise what we can do to the people who gave the opportunity to serve them over ourselves. We don’t want to serve ourselves. On May 6, 2019, three weeks to take over, the last administration withdrew N5.2 billion and spent it to remain N19, 000 by May 29. Soon, those involve will have to explain how they spent the money on the people.

“When I resumed, I was scared. The government was running 67 banks accounts. So I asked for all the balances of the accounts. A particular account has N300 million, and another has N20 million. I asked the accountant general to prune the accounts down and put all the money in one account and which came to about N6 billion.”

He continued, “When we assumed office, some people came to me and said that this is how they shared money. I said don’t share the money to me. Let us use it to better the lives of the people of the state. IGR has gone up a bit because we have blocked loopholes. Let me also reveal this. We did not spend government money on those Christmas decorations that you see everywhere. Normally, at the end of the year, people and corporate organisations give gifts to the governor.

“So, when they came, I called my people and told them that these gifts should be channelled towards beautifying the state instead. So, we used the gifts to do those Christmas decorations that you are seeing. If we continue to be prudent, all will be well and things will go round. It is because we cut off the wastage, that is why we are able to do some of the things are doing”.

Bid to strip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of their royal titles fails

A campaign to try and strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has failed.

Angry residents in Sussex signed a petition to have their royal names changed and it was backed by 3,800 people.

The titles were given to the couple by The Queen after they got married in Windsor, Berks in May last year.

The petition was led by anti-monarchist campaigner Charles Ross who said the decision to give them the titles was "morally wrong" and "disrespectful."

He also said it was "entirely non-democratic" and a "'symbol of oppression by the wealthy elite."

However, last night Brighton and Hove City councillors - who had to discuss the motion at a council meeting - rejected it.

The petition - set up in September - read: "We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to reject the usage of the titles 'Duke of Sussex' and 'Duchess of Sussex' by the individuals Henry ('Harry') Windsor and Rachel Meghan Markle as morally wrong and disrespectful to the county of East Sussex.

"As residents of Brighton and Hove we call on Brighton and Hove Council to not refer to these individuals by such titles which we believe to be entirely non democratic and symbolic of the oppression of the general public by the wealthy elite.

"Neither will Brighton Council invite or entertain these individuals nor afford them any hospitality or courtesies above and beyond that of an ordinary member of the public."

Speaking at a full council meeting last night, council leader Nancy Platts said: "I am aware that there are passionately held views on either side of the argument about the monarchy which are legitimate.

"However, that is not a matter for local authorities and we obviously do not have the power to remove titles. That is a matter for the Crown.

"The council has a number of pressing issues it has to prioritise, such as homelessness, climate change, the effects of austerity, ensuring the economic and social wellbeing of the city's residents.

"Although I fully respect the views held by people on both sides of the argument, given the more pressing challenges we have, I do not believe this would be a proper use of council time and resources to progress the proposals in the petition.

"I would therefore ask the council to note the petition and thank Mr Ross for presenting it."

Despite the concerns the royal couple - who live in Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, were well received by huge crowds of well-wishers on a visit to Sussex in October last year.

I’m only survivor of four twins – Ogogo

Veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is unarguably one of the most respected Yoruba actors in the country.

The actor, who recently turned 60, had hosted a series of events to celebrate his landmark and many of his colleagues turned up for a star-studded party in Lagos State.

The thespian, who once trained as an automobile mechanic before becoming an actor, told Sunday Scoop that the lavish birthday ceremony was just a token of his appreciation to God for the gift of life and sound health. He said, “I just want to thank God for bringing me into this world. Being 60 is a thing of joy for me. For example, my Kehinde (twin) is no more. My mother had four sets of twins. I’m the last set of twins and the only surviving one.

“My birthday celebration was not for me. It was to celebrate on behalf of my parents. My late parents would have been happy that God kept me alive. I lost my mother 19 years ago and my father, 49 years ago.

“I’m grateful for all my endeavours, my family. 60 years is not a joke. When God loves one it’s not because one is better; it’s just grace.

“When one attains a certain age, one needs to move closer to Allah. After all of life’s struggles, it’s only blessings that should follow.

“I met a lot of people in the movie industry but we are all doing fine now”.

The actor also said his birthday was an opportunity to give back to society starting from his primary school in Ilaro, Ogun State, adding that he visited a clinic in Ebute Meta (Lagos) to support some patients’ who were in need of financial assistance.

“We started my 60th birthday from my hometown. I attended Christ Church School in Ilaro. I asked the authorities of the school what they wanted and they said they wanted a borehole. We spent over N500,000 on that. I wanted to give them books but it’s only the present generation that would benefit from that. However, water will outlive many generations if maintained properly,” he said.

4 nurses die in UPTH, staff complain of work overload

National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has raised concern that it lost four Chief Nursing Officers within six months due to stress from work overload.

Chairman of the Association in UPTH, MacDonald Uchendu, said the affected Nursing Officers were within the ages of 48 and 56 years.

She complained that they were understaffed and urged the management to look into the matter of recruitment of more nurses.

Investigation revealed that due to a recent directive by the management to all heads of department that ad-hoc staff who were initially engaged and were being paid through the Internally Generated Revenue of the hospital should stop work, the regular staff have been over burdened with work load.

A senior doctor who wants to remain anonymous lamented that by next year, 2020, the planned disengagement of Ad-hoc Staff would immensely add to the overbearing workloads on the doctors and nurses.

He said that the UPTH management had engaged the ad-hoc staff to relieve the staff of workloads because of the increasing number of patients who daily seek medicare in the hospital.

Woman who had affairs with over 100 married men says there's a 'cheating gene'

Are we more likely to cheat on our partners if our parents were unfaithful? According to the results of a new study, this appears to be the case for two-thirds of women whose mothers had affairs.

Around a third of participants (32 percent) said they felt their mother's infidelities had given them "permission" to stray, because the behaviour runs in the family and would not come as a surprise.

Men were also found to be more likely to cheat if their fathers had done so, but not to quite the same extent as women.

Just over half of unfaithful men (52 percent) said their dads had cheated.

This has led researchers over at illicitencounters, who conducted the survey, to suggest there may be a "cheating gene" which runs in families.

And there's one woman who definitely believes it exists.

Gweneth Lee, claims to have had affairs with more than 100 married men over the last decade - three quarters of whom had parents who had cheated.

The 47-year-old from Chelsea, West London, said: "Cheating runs in the family.

"Sons or daughters of cheats fear the disapproval of their parents far less because they know they have been unfaithful too.
"One of the men I have been seeing is a wealthy banker from Cambridge whose mother has been married three times.

"He grew up with her dating a succession of different men and that affected his behaviour as he got older.

"His mother is aware that he cheats on his wife and they have kept the secret between themselves. She told him, 'Well, I can hardly start lecturing you after the way I've behaved.’

"Another of my lovers is a guy in his 30s whose parents were both unfaithful throughout his teenage years and while he was at university. It suited them to stay together while seeing other people.

"He is married and cannot stay faithful. He said that the idea of sticking with one person for 50 years seemed pretty boring after he had seen how much fun his parents were having. His wife has cheated on him, too - and both her parents were adulterers. I guess cheats attract other cheats - so they both know what to expect."

Gweneth began seeing married men following the death of her husband Robert.

She says many of her female friends are also unfaithful - and had mothers who were cheats.

"Some of them tell their mums all about their affairs. They have a good gossip about it," she adds.

"In some cases, their mothers are still having affairs anyway – so they are sharing tips on how to keep them secret."

Don’t leave men who cheat on you, Bukunmi Oluwasina tells women

Actress and singer, Bukunmi Oluwasina, is of the opinion that it is very hard to find a man who is 100 per cent faithful.

Speaking about the qualities she looks out for in a man, she said, “I like a man that has the fear of God. A man who has the wisdom of God in him will know how to raise a family. I also want a man that won’t give up on me no matter what, because I can be complicated.

I love a man that loves me for all of me. I like it when people stick to one another, no matter how hard it could be.

I believe love is love when it never ends. I don’t know if I can get a faithful man because we all are human beings. It is very hard to get someone who is 100 per cent faithful. Most people don’t know this, so when someone cheats on them, they leave the relationship.

What gives you the impression that the next person you would date won’t cheat on you? We are not angels, nor are we saints. I also look out for a man who can forgive because there is no love without forgiveness.”

2nd wife burns co-wife’s house after husband denies her Christmas money

Police in Lurambi, Kakamega County have arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly burning down her co-wife’s house on Thursday night.

Anne Sande, who hails from Emusala Village, is said to have set the house alight after her husband, Dominic Miti, allegedly refused to give her Ksh1, 000 for Christmas shopping.

Sande complained that Miti had given her elder co-wife, Tina Nangoni, Ksh1, 000 to prepare for the festivity, but declined to extend the same generosity to her [Sande].

Miti told K24 Digital that Sande became stubborn the moment she realised he had given Nangoni, 36, the said-money and she [Sande] was yet to receive her Christmas package from him.

“I was planning to also give her Ksh1, 000,” said Miti.

“However, she was extremely impatient,” added the upset husband.

Following the resultant chaos, police arrived at the scene and arrested Sande and Miti, who were taken to Emusala police post.

Miti was, however, freed on Friday morning, whereas Sande was transferred to Kakamega Police Station.

Police say Sande will be charged with arson.

Man stabs his police officer wife several times and then kills himself

Residents of Kianyaga in Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County, Kenya are reeling from shock after a middle-aged man killed his wife and then committed suicide.

The man, identified only as Sammy, fatally stabbed his wife, identified only as Carol, multiple times, and thereafter took his own life by hanging. The incident happened on Thursday night.

It is said that the couple had argued before the tragic incident. It is, however, not known what caused the now-fatal dispute.

Sammy, who works at a butcher’s shop in Kianyaga, arrived home in the evening after submitting the day’s earnings to the business owner identified as Charles Kamau.

Shortly after arriving home, he allegedly got into a scuffle with his partner, whom he allegedly stabbed with a kitchen knife several times in the chest and other parts of the body.

Sammy, thereafter, reached for a rope, tied it to the rafters and hanged himself, police said.

The deaths came as a shock to neighbours, who described the couple’s marriage as “peaceful”.

Winfred Nyambura, a next-door neighbour, said Sammy separated from his first wife, and his relationship with Carol was his second marriage.

“He has a son from his previous marriage. Sammy and Carol never lived with the son, but he rented a house and hired a nanny to take care of the boy. For the time I have known him, he has been a really good man, who speaks less. I am shocked that he killed his wife and thereafter committed suicide,” said Nyambura.

Kirinyaga County Commander Leah Kithei confirmed the incident, saying police have launched investigations into the apparent murder-suicide.

Carol’s body was taken to Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus Town.

Mother dumps newborn baby in Lagos estate

Arrival of a newborn is naturally supposed to be celebrated, as it is a moment of relief and warmth after nine months of enduring times associated with the pregnancy.

However, a yet-to-be identified mother thought otherwise on Monday when she abandoned her newly born baby girl around Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Residents of the area woke up to the sight of the baby girl tucked in a shawl, whining for breast milk.

They were said to have alerted the police and the baby was taken to the Family Support Unit of the Adeniji Adele Police Division.

A resident, who identified herself only as Deborah, told Sunday Punch that she was shocked when she saw the baby girl.

She said, “It was like I was watching a movie. Why would a mother just dump a newborn like that? It was a neighbour who alerted me. By the time I got to the spot, a crowd had gathered. The girl was crying and was obviously hungry. She was pretty and in a good condition. We called the police and the girl was taken to their custody.”

Another resident, who claimed to have followed the girl to the police station, said she was given water before her cry subsided.

“I was really pained. The police woman we met there said they would contact the state government so she could be taken to an orphanage for proper care.

“She is a beautiful baby. It was a Good Samaritan who found her early Monday morning. She (the mother) should have spared the innocent girl this suffering from the outset when she knew she was not ready for motherhood,” the resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, said the baby had been taken to the protective custody by the state government.

He said, “The baby is about one week old. She was first taken to a hospital for medical attention and thereafter kept in an orphanage on the directive of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development which the police are working closely with.”

80-year-old man simultaneously weds 3 women

An 80-year-old man from Eldama Ravine, Kenya exchanged wedding vows with three women at the Registrar of Marriages office in Nakuru County on Friday, December 20.

Sila Kigen, a prominent farmer from Baringo County, tied the knot with the three women, whom he first married in traditional arrangements, at least 49 years ago.

Kigen’s Friday wedding to the three women was witnessed by close family members.

Kigen told K24 Digital that he decided to formalise the unions to prevent property tussles among his wives should he die.

“For a while now, I have seen the wives of polygamous men fight for their [men’s] properties once they die. I want to formally marry my partners so that the law can recognise them. When my time comes to depart from this world, they would know who gets what and how they will get the inheritance share,” said Kigen.

Kigen said his first wife died in 1956, and would, in 1966, marry two women simultaneously. Kigen added a third wife in 1970.

Kigen is a father of 30 children and tens of grandchildren.

Kigen’s wives, Rebeca Kigen, Peninah Kigen and Coletah Kigen, said they were happy that he had made the marriage official.

He is a very supportive husband,” said Rebeca.

The Registrar of Marriages in Nakuru, Caroline Mbai, said Kigen’s wedding to his three wives was the first customary union she was presiding over in her office.

“A customary marriage arrangement is allowed in law. If one wishes to have more than one wife, and the subsequent wife or wives be recognised by the State, he should visit our offices across the country and apply to have the polygamous marriage recognised,” said Mbai.
