24 year-old Canadian rapper Bvlly shot dead

Canadian rap star Bvlly has been shot dead near a plush townhouse in the early hours of Christmas Eve.

The musician, real name Jahquar Stewart, was gunned down near the block in Oshawa, Toronto, early on Tuesday morning, According to CP24.

Local reports claim officers were called to the home around 3am after receiving reports of gunshots in the area.

They say Stewart, 24, suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.


Residents from the housing development were startled by sounds of gunshots before calling cops.

A neighbour told CP24 he was in his garage nearby livestreaming when he heard seven gunshots.

Investigators blocked a section of the roadway to allow for an investigation.

Durham's Forensic Identification Unit has also been called in to investigate.

Cops have not released any details of the suspect.

Trump 'still working' on Melania's Christmas present

Donald Trump has confessed that he is yet to get a Christmas present for his wife, Melania.

During a Christmas Eve video conference with American military personnel stationed overseas, the president was asked what gift he had bought for the First Lady.

Mr Trump said he was "still working on" on a present, but had picked her "a very beautiful card".

"There's a little time left" to buy a present he added. "Not too much, but there's a little time left."

Justin Bieber reveals plans for comeback in 2020

Justin Bieber has given fans an early Christmas present - confirmation he is to make a 2020 comeback.

The Canadian pop star chose 24 December to announce he will release a new single, called Yummy, on 3 January - the debut track from an upcoming, as yet untitled fifth album.

The 25-year-old also revealed he is to tour the US and his home nation between May and September.

The singer announced as well he is to appear in a new documentary TV series.

Bieber took an extended break from music in 2017 after cancelling the last 14 dates of his Purpose World Tour.

Wizkid reveals he is getting married next year

After having three kids out of wedlock, Nigeria’s international hip-hop star, Wizkid Ayo Balogun hinted today that he will be getting married next year, in 2020.

He made the disclosure in a tweet on Tuesday night.

In another tweet, he hinted he may be having a rebranding of his stage name, from Wizkid to a new name he has not disclosed. But some of his fans suggested he may be transforming into WIZMAN.

He also said he will release just one album more as Wizkid.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's son Saint sassily tells paparazzi 'no pictures'

Saint West has proven that he definitely takes after his dad Kanye after a hilarious interaction with the paparazzi last week.

The four-year-old told photographers "no pictures!" as the family left a restaurant in New York.

In hilarious footage the little boy is joined by his mum Kim Kardashian and Kanye, as well as big sister North West, six.

North is a little bit more friendly, as after they wished her a happy Christmas she responded: "Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah."

But that didn't stop Saint from getting one more parting shot with the snappers, appearing to say "Bye bad people."

Kim tried to quieten him by putting a hand over his mouth but Kanye clearly thought it was hilarious and could be seen with a rare smile on his face.

The mum-of-four sported a kooky outfit in a metallic silver coat for the family outing.

She teamed it with an eye-catching pair of leather trousers and purple heels.

At one point she tried to pick Saint up as he appeared to be throwing a tantrum.

Meanwhile, Kanye was asked how he would sum up 2019 and he responded with a thumbs up.

The family then got into their car and headed home.

Ed Sheeran announces another break from music after 'non stop' two years

Ed Sheeran has announced that he's taking a break from music after being 'non stop' since 2017.

The singer, 28, took to Instagram to confirm the news today, saying he needed a 'breather' from his busy career after going on tour.

This is the second break he's taken from music as he went silent on social media and stopped performing for much of 2016.

Ed wrote: "Hello all. Gonna go on another break again.


"The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it's all over it's time to go out and see some more of the world."

Ed said he wanted to travel so he could find some more things to write about in his lyrics.

He continued: "I've been a bit non stop since 2017 so I'm just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read.

"I'll be off all social media until it's time to come back.

First photo of mum and former air hostess found murdered in her own home

This is the first photo of a tragic mum found murdered in her own home in a rural village days before Christmas.

Nelly Myers, understood to have formerly been a British Airways hostess, was declared dead at the scene in posh Rotherfield, East Sussex, on Wednesday.

Police have since arrested a 35-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, both from Crawley, West Sussex, on suspicion of murder.

Flowers and tributes left outside the house pay emotional respects to 58-year-old Ms Myers, Kent Live reports.


She leaves behind two children.

"We have arrested a second man in connection with the murder of a woman," said Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart, of Sussex Police, said today.

"Both men we have arrested remain in custody at this time while the investigation continues.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who has contacted us with information and appreciate the patience from the local community during this time.

"We believe this to be an isolated incident and there are still a number of ongoing enquiries.
“This will be, understandably, an extremely difficult time for the family and friends and our specialist officers continue to provide support.

"We would ask their privacy is respected during this tragic time and for social media speculation to be avoided.”

Anyone with information which could assist the investigation should call 101 quoting Operation Coppice.

The investigation continues.

Mass evacuation as fires engulf Chilean city

At least 120 houses have been destroyed by fast moving forest fires in the Chilean city of Valparaíso, prompting a mass evacuation.

All the city's firefighters have been deployed to tackle the fires in the Rocuant and San Roque areas.

Power was cut to about 90,000 customers in the area as a precautionary measure.

Valparaíso Mayor Jorge Sharp told Canal 24 Horas that the fires had been started "intentionally". There have been no reports of any casualties.

"At the moment, emergency teams from all over Valparaíso are working, using land and air resources, in two areas in the higher part of the city," the mayor said.

DSS refuses to return Sowore’s mobile phones after release

Officials of the Department of State Services have refused to release three mobile phones seized from pro-democracy campaigner and journalist, Omoyele Sowore, since August 3, 2019 when he was first arrested in Lagos.

Though the agency released the 48-year-old journalist for the second time on Tuesday evening following an order by Nigeria’s Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), officials of the secret police failed to return his mobile phones apparently in an attempt to monitor his communication and keep deprive him of important contacts stored on the devices.

The DSS is yet to give any reason for confiscation of Sowore’s mobile phones.


Sowore was first arrested on August 3, 2019 for calling on Nigerians to take to the streets in peaceful demonstrations to demand a better country from the government and remained in detention until December 5 when he was briefly released on bail.

On December 6, he was rearrested inside the Federal High Court, Abuja, by DSS operatives and had remained in custody until Tuesday when Malami gave the latest release order.

He has since been released from custody.

Saudi Arabia bans under 18 marriage

The Saudi Ministry of Justice on Tuesday announced the prohibition of the marriage of persons under 18 years.

It has also set 18 years as the minimum age for marriage, the Saudi Gazette is reporting.

The Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani, issued the new directive in a circular sent to all the courts in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Before now, child marriages are commonplace in Saudi Arabia with one in seven girls marrying before the age of 18. But, Saudi Arabia’s justice minister is changing things up.


In the circular released on Tuesday, the minister directed that marriage requests are to be referred to the specialised court to complete the formalities in line with the Child Protection Law and while implementing the established regulations.

Mr Al-Samaani’s directives are based on paragraph (16/3) of the executive regulations of the Child Protection Law, which says “before conducting marriage contracts one has to make sure that marrying a person under the age of 18 will not harm him or her and achieve their best interests, male or female.”

Queen 'burst out laughing' at Christmas present Meghan Markle bought her

When the Royal Family sit down at Sandringham to exchange presents on Christmas Day they won't be opening a nice new shirt or some cosy slippers.

Instead, the Queen, Prince Charles, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and the rest of the gang buy each other joke presents.

We imagine it's quite a lot of pressure on new additions to the family - like Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Jack Brooksbank - to come up with a funny and creative idea for their in-laws.

But it seems the Duchess of Sussex hit the nail on the head when she attended her first Royal Christmas back in 2017, five months before she married Prince Harry.


She reportedly bought her future grandmother-in-law a singing toy hamster – and it went down a treat.

The Daily Star reports that her Maj was so happy with the present that she burst out laughing, before remarking: “It can keep my dogs company.”

A source said: “Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty.

“It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy.”

However it turns out the corgis weren't quite so impressed - and ended up mauling it to pieces before the festive celebrations were over.

Deji Adeyanju's health worsens, flown abroad for medical treatment

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, who was physically brutalised by dozens of hired government thugs on Monday in Abuja during a protest tagged #FreedomRally in front of the National Human Rights Commission, has been flown overseas for medical treatment.

The activist was in a critical condition at the hospital following the deadly attack that left deep cuts all over his body and left him struggling to breathe.

Adeyanju has been flown to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he would be receiving comprehensive medical treatment.


During the attack, some operatives of the Department of State Services and policemen at the scene failed to rescue the activist, allowing the thugs carrying posters bearing President Muhammadu Buhari’s image and chanting ‘Sai Baba’ to violently ‘feast’ on him.

Several other activists, who participated in the peaceful demonstration, were also attacked by the hired thugs.

UK government probe uncovers massive fraud in Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy

After a five-year-long investigation into the finances of United Kingdom (UK) branch of Christ Embassy, founded by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the UK Charity Commission has indicted the church’s board of trustees of a wide range of fraudulent practices including illegally paying more than N827 million (£1,767,250) to entities and organisations it shares close relationships with.

According to the outcome of the inquiry published by the Charity Commission on its website last month, the church’s board of trustees was incriminated for shoddy management of the church’s account, arbitrary and curious payments, failure to comply with its grant-making policy, inadequate recording of its decision making processes and serious misconduct and/or mismanagement in the charity’s administration.


In one particularly disturbing instance, the inquiry found evidence the church may be laundering or diverting funds of up to N288 million (£615,420.00) from its UK branches to six accounts controlled by the church’s Nigerian branch, Christ Embassy Nigeria.

The Charity Commission also found that the church, which was founded in 1996 and has over 90 worship centres across the UK, illegally registered three properties in the names of two members of its board of trustees, failed to pay taxes worth over £250,000 on expenditures by employees, failed to secure adequate insurance, and had an instance of criminal violation of British town planning and building regulations.

In 2014, the Charity Commission, which regulates charities in England and Wales, announced it was opening a statutory inquiry to investigate Christ Embassy over “a number of serious concerns relating to the use of charitable funds, in particular, large connected party payments and the potential misapplication of grant funding.

Gunmen Abduct WAEC staff in Ondo, demand N20m ransom

Some gunmen have kidnapped a staff of West African Examination Council, Gbenga Adebayo, on the Owo/Akungba Akoko Road in Ondo State.

Adebayo was abducted while transiting his son to the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, in his vehicle over the weekend.

A junior staff at the WAEC office in Akure, who confirmed the news of the abduction to our correspondent, said Adebayo was ambushed on the road by the kidnappers.

"One of his friends who was inside the vehicle alongside his son were able to escape before abductors could reach them," the source said.

The Royal couple opted for an eco-friendly e-card following criticism over their carbon footprint earlier this year.

Captured in black and white, the festive image shows Harry and Meghan sitting by a Christmas tree smiling as the seven-month-old gazes into the camera in the foreground.


The card was not officially released through any official royal channels, and first appeared on an unverified Twitter account for The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

Shared as a gif, with the lights on the tree twinkling, the account said: ‘Just sharing the sweetest Christmas Card from our President and Vice-President, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. ‘Very Merry Christmas, everyone!’

A spokeswoman for the Sussexes later confirmed its authenticity.

But Cyrus wrote on Instagram that the new song was inspired by events around the holidays a few years ago.
