Princess Beatrice broke huge royal tradition on Christmas morning - because of Meghan Markle

Princess Beatrice looked happy and festive as she waved to well-wishers outside church on Christmas morning, joining the rest of the Royal Family for the annual service.

The Queen's grandaughter walked into St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge , George, Charlotte, Louis, Prince Charles , Princess Anne and other relatives - but she broke a big royal tradition in doing so.

She was accompanied by her millionaire property developer fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi - even though he's not officially a Royal yet.

Invites to the Royal Family's private Sandringham celebrations are reserved for members of The Firm, and partners normally have to wait until they are married to join in.

However Prince Harry broke this tradition in 2017 by inviting his bride-to-be Meghan Markle ahead of their wedding, paving the way for Beatrice to do the same with Edo.

Beatrice wore a smart tan coat with a green headband and black boots and gloves for the Christmas service, while Edo looked smart in a black suit with a grey tie.

Meghan joined the Royals for the 2017 three-day Norfolk celebration as her own family were miles away in America.

Although breaking traditional protocol, PR advisors insisted it was a necessary gesture to avoid ill feeling or, worse, a PR storm.

Kate Middleton and Mike Tindall on the other hand had to wait until they had their Welsh gold rings firmly on their fingers before being allowed to tuck into that royal turkey.

Speaking at the time, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told  Express.co.uk : "In 2010 Kate was not invited to do so after her engagement to William nor was Mike Tindall after his to the Princess Royal's daughter Zara Phillips and only spouses and close family are usually invited.

"However Harry and Meghan will be living together at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace and her family are in the United States. The monarchy relies heavily on precedent and tradition but it also makes its own."

'First person in UK' to return unwanted gift did it at 7.02am on Christmas Day

A resident in Salisbury was the first person in the country to return a potentially unwanted Christmas present, it has been claimed.

It was still dark when the first parcel was returned to a Collect+ store in the Wiltshire town at 7.02am on Christmas Day, according to payment systems firm PayPoint.

It was another 38 minutes before the next parcel was returned in Glasgow, at 7.40am.

In total, 419 parcels were returned on Christmas Day through the Collect+ service at local convenience stores across the UK.

Some customers returned more than one potentially unwanted present.

In Enfield, north London, a single customer returned seven parcels at 12.09pm, while in Wokingham, Berkshire, a customer returned six parcels at 12.44pm.
A further five were returned by a customer in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, at 6.50pm.

Meanwhile, there were hundreds of potentially happier customers who collected parcels on Christmas Day.

In total, 1,043 parcels were collected on December 25 because their local convenience stores were open.

Boris Johnson 'given motorbike for Christmas' by girlfriend

Boris Johnson was given an off-road motorbike by his girlfriend Carrie Symonds for Christmas, it has been claimed.

The Prime Minister received a second-hand Yamaha TTR 125 from the 31-year-old, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The bike, thought to be worth around £1,000, can reach speeds of up to 55mph.

Mr Johnson told journalists last week that he would like a new bicycle for Christmas, but said he would have to buy it himself.

He was forced to give up cycling around London when he became foreign secretary and then Prime Minister because of security precautions.

Ex-Premier League star, Thibaut Courtois secretly 'fathered love child' with married former neighbour

Ex-Premier League star Thibaut Courtois fathered a secret love child with a married former neighbour, it has been claimed.

Courtois, 27, is believed to have engaged in a romantic relationship with Elsa Izac just weeks after moving into a new property with his then-girlfriend Marta Dominguez.

The romance, which occurred during Courtois' spell in England with west London club Chelsea , is believed to have blossomed after the mother-of-four took in parcels for him.

And The Daily Star has also reported that the pair, who lived next door to each other, enjoyed romps in the Chelsea team hotel before matches.

However the relationship came to an end after fashion designer Elsa, who has since split from her banker husband, got pregnant with Courtois' baby.

It has been claimed that Courtois asked the former model to get an abortion - something Elsa refused to do and their son Enzo was born in September 2017.

Courtois quit Chelsea to join Spanish giants Real Madrid in August last year but, after receiving a visit from Elsa and his son, he has cut ties with the youngster and doesn’t send him birthday or Christmas cards.

A source told the Daily Star: "She wants him to acknowledge Enzo is his son publicly. He had never denied to her that he is the father.

“If ever Elsa had Thibaut’s parcels, he would come and ring the bell to say thank you. She thought he was so polite. Then he would ask her for coffee and she thought, ‘Why not?’

“Then one day she noticed the way he was looking at her. Marta Dominguez, his girlfriend, was pregnant at the time. Elsa did not appreciate it.

“He looked like he wanted something from her, physical not emotional.”

The pair soon started a romantic relationship but Courtois then moved out of the £3million six-bedroom house in Wimbledon following his move to Madrid.

Elsa is now bringing him up as a single parent in Wimbledon, south London.

The source added: “They did not plan to have a baby but she was planning on going to Madrid with him.

“She told him she was pregnant. He was saying it wasn’t good for his career and people are going to find out.

“He asked her to have an abortion. She told him she was not going to do that. Then he told her she was free to see somebody else if she wanted to.

“But he didn’t say he didn’t want to see her any more.

“Elsa felt like he wanted just a fling. It was just awful. They broke up when she was five months pregnant. He gave her a choice. She had to choose between the baby and him.”

Man found dead 'with head and arms cut off' outside abandoned house

A man has been found dead with his head and arms cut off on the grounds of an derelict house, it is reported.

The gruesome scene was discovered by a neighbour who was looking for their cat at about 4pm on Saturday.

After the alarm was raised, officers found the man's head and arms in a different location on the property in Cork, Ireland.

Efforts to identify the man were initially hampered because his head and limbs were missing, but detectives now believe the man was a rough sleeper in his 50s who was last seen alive on Friday, the Irish Mirror reports.

A report by the Irish Times said the man's head and arms had been cut off, but it was unclear whether the man died at Castlegreina House or if he died elsewhere and his body dumped there.

It is believed the body had been there for some time.

The death was being treated as suspicious and a murder probe was expected to be launched after a post-mortem was carried out.

Investigators have been checking with local agencies to find out if any homeless people were reported missing recently.

A Garda spokesperson said in a statement: "The Coroner has been notified and the services of the State Pathologist has been requested.

"A post-mortem will take place at a later date and this will determine the course of the investigation."

'Nearly 19,000 children' sexually groomed in England in the past year

The Home Office has said it will "leave no stone unturned" in its bid to tackle child sexual grooming after it was reported that nearly 19,000 minors in England were exploited in the past year.

Latest figures show a sharp increase in the number of child grooming victims over the last five years, according to The Independent.

Local authorities identified around 18,700 suspected victims in 2018-19, up from 3,300 five years ago, the website reported.

A spokesman for the Home Office said the department "is committed to tackling child sexual abuse and will leave no stone unturned in tackling this abhorrent behaviour".

Sarah Champion, the Labour MP for Rotherham, which has been targeted by grooming gangs, told The Independent the figures show this type of exploitation "remains one of the largest forms of child abuse in the country".

She added: "Too many times, Government has said it will 'learn lessons', yet 19,000 children are still at risk of sexual exploitation."

Last weekend, a Telford abuse victim told the Sunday Mirror of her relief at seeing justice finally served.

She became the first Telford victim to see her abusers jailed after the newspaper revealed how paedophile gangs groomed girls for sex.

The woman, who is going by the name 'Sarah,' was targeted at 12 and prosecutors said she was treated “like a piece of meat”.

Four men in the West Midlands were jailed for abusing her after she was sold for sex and raped.

The offences took place between 2000 and 2003 and started when Sarah, who is now an adult, was 13.

She said after her tormentors were finally jailed a total of 22 years over the sex crimes against her: “I just sobbed. I was relieved, happy and sad, all at the same time.”

The Sunday Mirror campaigned for a public inquiry in Telford after finding authorities failed to act on warning signs.

A public inquiry was finally commissioned by Telford and Wrekin Council in April 2018.

The figures reported by the Independent today, obtained from the Department for Education, showed that Lancashire recorded the highest number of children who were victims of grooming of any local authority (624).

It was followed by Birmingham (490), Surrey (447), Bradford (414) and Gloucestershire (409).

The Home Office spokesman added that the department launched the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse "to get to the truth, expose what has gone wrong and learn lessons for the future".

He added: "The inquiry operates independently of government and, within its terms of reference, decides for itself what it investigates.

"The inquiry is investigating institutional responses to child sexual exploitation by organised criminal networks with public hearings set for the spring of 2020."

Man arrested for defiling 5-year-old girl in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested one Shuaibu Abdullahi, 27, for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.

Confirming the incident to Punch correspondent on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Aminu Ismail-Maru said, “The mother of the girl, Rabi Ibrahim, reported the case to the command.

“A complaint was lodged by one Rabi Ibrahim to the Intelligence Investigations Department of the NSCDC, Zamfara State, that one Shuaibu Abdullahi, 27, of the Kofar Mani area of Gusau forcefully had carnal knowledge of her five-year-old daughter of the same area.”

The mother of the victim also told the NSCDC detectives that the alleged rapist forcefully took her daughter into an uncompleted building, where he perpetrated the act.

Rabi said her daughter returned home crying and when she asked what was amiss, the little girl narrated her ordeal in the hands of the suspect.

The mother stated that a close examination of her private parts showed residue of semen and she was then rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, for medical examination and treatment.

The PRO explained that investigation into the matter was ongoing, adding that the suspect had been taken into custody and would be arraigned after the Christmas break.

Lawyer sues CBN over card maintenance fee

A Lagos-based lawyer, Mr Olumide Babalola, has urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to declare as anti-people the N50 quarterly card maintenance fee recently introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The lawyer, through the suit, is urging the court to nullify the December 20, 2019 circular issued by the CBN to all banks and non-bank commercial institutions for the enforcement of the card maintenance charge.

Babalola contended that the N50 card maintenance charge was in bad faith, against public interest and urged the court to declare it null and void.

He prayed for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the CBN and others from charging the N50 card maintenance fee, saying it was “merely an avenue to generate income for commercial banks at the expense of the public.”

The lawyer said, “I know that the provision at Page 20, Clause 10.4 on the Card Maintenance Fee of the Guides is exploitative, unreasonable, done in bad faith and against public interest.

“I know and believe that the N50 quarterly card maintenance fee is against public interest because the cards are never maintained by the banks as they remain in the customer’s physical custody until they expire or get lost or damaged.

“The banks always charge card replacement fee in the event of damage, loss or expiry of the cards.

“The cards are maintained and kept by respective customers who keep and ensure their safety.

“Once a card malfunctions, the bank charges an additional fee for its replacement and I have never heard of a case of repair of a debit card and the defendant is put to the strictest proof of same.

“I know as a fact that the card maintenance fee is another money-making channel devised by the defendant for the benefit of commercial banks.”

Civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis announces he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer

Civil rights icon and US Democratic Rep. John Lewis of Georgia has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, his office has announced.

Lewis, 79, said he was diagnosed following a routine medical visit with subsequent tests that reconfirmed the diagnosis. The long-time Georgia congressman will undergo treatment for the cancer.

"I have been in some kind of fight -- for freedom, equality, basic human rights -- for nearly my entire life. I have never faced a fight quite like the one I have now," Lewis, who in March 1965 joined forces with Martin Luther King Jr. to lead a voting rights march out out Selma, Alabama, said in a statement.

He continued: "While I am clear-eyed about the prognosis, doctors have told me that recent medical advances have made this type of cancer treatable in many cases, that treatment options are no longer as debilitating as they once were, and that I have a fighting chance."
Pancreatic cancer was the third-leading cause of death from cancer in the United States in 2018, after lung and colorectal cancers, according to the National Cancer Institute. The cancer, on average and across all stages, has a five-year survival rate of 9%, according to the American Cancer Society.

Okorocha's son in law, Uche Nwosu returns to APC

Uche Nwosu, governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) during the 2019 general election in Imo state, has returned to the the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Nwosu, son-in-law to Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo, had defected from the APC to AA when he could not secure the ruling party’s ticket.

Earlier in the month, the supreme court had ruled that Nwosu was not qualified to contest the governorship election in the state.

The apex court held that Nwosu doubled as the candidate of the APC and that of AA which is against the electoral laws.

Speaking with journalists during the weekend, he said the supreme court’s ruling on his double candidature confirms that he is still a member of the APC.

Lagos appeals to hospitals to stop demanding police report before treating gun wounds

The Lagos state Government has appealed to all health care providers to stop demanding police report before treating gun wounds. It also appealed that patients who need emergency treatment should also be treated without asking for evidence of funds.

The State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi made the appeal yesterday while reacting to investigations by the Ministry of Health.

He revealed that some health facilities in the State are in the habit of rejecting or delaying care to trauma victims which has in some cases resulted in avoidable loss of lives and must be stopped.

Dayo Amusa talks s.e.x and why no one should be body-shamed for it

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has just stirred controversy on social media after she stated that she enjoys having s.e.x and she doesn’t care what people say about that.

In her post, the actress further stated that a woman should not be judged by the number of people she has sex with, as everyone has the right to enjoy themselves.

Read her full post below;

''I enjoy having sex. I mean good Sexual intercourse. You know the thing that people do that is acceptable in society if you’re married,

or if you’re trying to conceive a baby or if you’ve been in a partnership with somebody for some time but most definitely not acceptable if you have sex with somebody on the first date or if you have sex with somebody that you don’t know all that well.  Why can’t people just have sex for the sake of having sex?

Why the actual fuck does a woman that enjoys having sexual relationships with a partner or partners automatically make people jump to the conclusion that the woman doesn’t respect herself?

Why does a woman have to justify herself? I don’t give a fuck if you sleep with 200 people or you’ve only ever been with 1 or none.

I don’t give a fuck if you’re sleeping with one partner, or you’re sleeping with two, three or twenty partners.

I don’t give a fuck if you have sex on the first date or wait until the 30th date. Want to know why I don’t give a fuck? Because it’s none of my fucking business.

You know your body, and at the end of the day it’s your body therefore you make the rules.

Why are women being shamed for having sexual relationships? The sad part is majority of it is women shaming other women.

SUPPORT EACH OTHER FOR FUCK SAKES. SEX IS A NATURAL HUMAN INTERACTION. Fuck who you want, when you want, where you want. You don’t owe an explanation to anybody.

And you surely are not “disrespecting yourself” because you enjoy having sex. Be transparent, and educate yourself before expressing such stupidity.

But make sure you are playing safe o  Make safe choices

Catch up with me later tonight on my live video, let’s trash this matter. No insults intended nor accepted.''

NYCN plans 3 days of prayer, fasting for Nigeria

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has declared three-days of fasting and prayer for the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria.

NYCN National President, Mr Solomon Adodo said that the prayer session would hold from Jan. 1 to Jan. 3, 2020.

Adodo urged youths well meaning Nigerians and religious leaders to participate in the three-day exercise.

He also advised them to turn away from all misdeeds and truly seek God’s face.

“The National Youth Council of Nigeria hereby calls on all Nigerian youths and indeed every Nigerian to humbly, sincerely, soberly and solemnly seek the face of God in utter repentance as we embark on three days of prayer and fasting.

“It is a known fact that Nigeria has been a highly religious nation across faith lines and denominations.

“However, we have all been significantly steeped in hypocrisy as a people, rarely practising what we preach. It is, therefore, time for us to turn away from all our misdeeds and truly seek God’s face.

“All the nations that have truthfully sought the face of God while working on their developmental goals have been able to achieve very significant progress.

“We strongly believe that Nigeria’s problems can be addressed if we sincerely seek the help of God, while assiduously working to address same.

“It is on this note that NYCN is calling on all Nigerians to embark on this sessions of fasting and prayers to seek God’s guidance in all our national affairs in 2020,” Adodo said.
