Pensioner's rare skin condition leaves him with thousands of tumours on his body (photos)

A man has been left with thousands of tumours on his body after developing a rare skin condition 15 years ago.

Diwakar Bisoye, from Odisha State, east India, was plagued by benign tumours including a four stone tumour on his leg.

It is thought to be caused by a rare genetic disorder.

The 65-year-old claims he is treated worse than 'a dirty stray animal' and is forced to wear a balaclava over his face due to cruel taunts from neighbours.


He began to develop a few small lumps on his body 15 years ago, but it quickly spread over his body within a matter of months.

Diwakar is desperate for a cure for his condition - which is not thought to be life threatening - but claims there is no treatment available near his isolated village home.

He said: "People mock and ridicule me directly. They stare at me and avoid me.

"Most people act very strange around me. No one likes looking at me or being near me.

"People think I will infect everything. Landlords don't want me living in their property or ask me to leave when people complain about my condition.

"It's left me without a job for 15 years."

Doctors believe the tumours were caused by a genetic disorder brought on by abnormalities in Diwakar's nervous system.

Dr Subramania Lyer, professor and head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, said: "This is a case of multiple neurofibromatosis which means that these nodules arise from nerves traversing the body.

"The only solution is the surgical removal of most troublesome swellings.

"Considering his extensive numbers this may have to be done in stages".

Woman 'accused of faking pregnancy and stealing dead friend's newborn baby'

A woman is accused of stealing her friend's new born baby to pass off as her own, while the real mum's body found in the boot of her car.

Heidi Broussard was found strangled and stuffed into a bag in the boot of close friend Magen Fieramusca's car after going missing with baby daughter Margot.

The two friends, who had met at a Bible camp 10 years before, supposedly became pregnant together and giving birth weeks apart in late 2019.

However, it is now alleged that Fieramusca, 33, from near Housten, Texas, was never expecting at all, despite taking a baby to meet her ex-partner Christopher Green, who believed he was the father, reports 9News.


The defendant was in the delivery room when Ms Broussard gave birth on November 25, according to an arrest affidavit.

Ms Broussard's fiancé Shane Carey said she told him Fieramusca had claimed to have given birth herself on December 8 or 9, but the defendant herself later told police it was December 12.

However, she apparently could not remember the name of the birthing centre but brought her 'daughter' home that same day.

Her defence team described the information in the affidavit as "cursory" and "mere allegations".

The nine-page affidavit document details how police used tip-offs and forensic evidence to link the accused to the crime.

Her Facebook page, active for 11 years, was deleted on December 17 and her search history included a search for "bodies found in Austin, Texas", say police.

Fieramusca is due in court on February 3.

Chris Hemsworth has made a huge donation to fight the ongoing Australian bushfire crisis.

The Australian actor and Thor star, 36, has given a huge $1 million in aid of bushfire recovery as the disaster in his home country continues.

He announced his donation in a post on Instagram , having followed the likes of singer Pink who gave $500,000 to help fight the effects of the horrific fires.

Hemsworth writes in the social media post: "Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too."

Siasia starts GoFundMe appeal to raise money to fund his case at Court of Arbitration after FIFA ban

Former Super Eagles forward and coach, Samson Siasia, has started a GoFundMe appeal to raise money to fund his case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in order to overturn the life ban slammed on him by world football governing body FIFA.

Siasia, according to news, had the appeal created for him three days ago and is aimed to raise $250,000.

“Samson Siasia was alleged “to agree to collect bribe” in relation to a football match. He was subsequently banned for life from all footballing activities, without the benefit of defending himself.

“The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has now accepted an appeal from Samson on FIFA’s ruling.


“Legal cost of defending himself is needed for him to clear his name,” observed the statement attached to the GoFundMe appeal.

Close associates of the former Nigeria coach revealed that Siasia has been in depression for the last few months.

Kylie Jenner has been branded a "disconnected" Instagram "hypocrite" after infuriating fans with a post about the Australian wildfires.

Fuelled by 40c heat and high winds, the raging fires have claimed the lives of an estimated half a billion animals across the country.

Twenty-three people were also confirmed to have died, 1500 homes destroyed and more residents are missing as reports suggest the fires show little sign of abating.

The 22-year-old billionaire re-posted a message on social media raising awareness for the plight of animal deaths due to the fires.


Her Instagram stories show an image of a koala being rescued by a fireman with the comment “Over half a billion animals have been killed in Australia. This breaks my heart.”

Just 12 hours later she posted an image of £1,080 Louis Vuitton real fur slippers, prompting followers to brand her a "hypocrite" and "so disconnected it’s unreal".

The open toe pink slippers are made of real mink fur.

“Crying about Koalas dying while literally wearing the skin of this animal as slippers on her feet. Can she just shut the f*** up already ?!” one Twitter user called out.

Outrage among her following continued with many calling it “horrifying”, “ignorant” and “they just don’t care about world problems”.

The backlash to the influencer’s poorly timed social media post has led to a stream of people commenting on her pictures and demanding financial help with the ongoing wildfires.


Many Instagram followers are using her pictures to heap pressure on the socialite to contribute.

New Year: Tinubu heads to State House to greet President Buhari (photos)

President Muhammadu Buhari today met behind closed doors with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at the State House.

Although the subject of the discussion of the meeting was not disclosed, Asiwaju Tinubu told journalists that he visited the President to consort with him and wish him well for the New Year.

Lagos 'forcefully' takes 14-day-old baby from Jehovah Witness parents after they refused her Blood transfusion

Way forward! The Lagos State Government, through the Office of the Public Defender (OPD), has recovered a severely jaundiced 14-day-old baby whose parents denied her life-saving blood transfusion on religious grounds.

The baby girl (name withheld) was delivered prematurely at a private hospital in Surulere with headquarters at Ikoyi on December 18,, 2019 to Mr and Mrs Emmanuel Onokpise of Abata Close, Orile-Iganmu.
 
The baby was discovered to be severely jaundiced at birth and the doctors prescribed that she be given urgent blood transfusion to survive.


But, according to a statement by the OPD, the baby’s parents who are Jehovah Witnesses and on Medical Insurance (HMO), opposed the blood transfusion for their baby citing their religious belief.

They allegedly unilaterally discharged the baby from the hospital against medical advice.

The statement said: “It was the critical health condition of the baby and deviant position of the parents that persuaded a spirited member of the public to inform the Lagos Office of the Public Defender to save the child from untimely death.

“The agency swung into action immediately, got the relevant court order by invoking relevant sections of the Lagos Child`s Rights Law of 2015 and Lagos State Safeguiding and Child Protection Policy of 2016.

“In collaboration with the Nigerian Police, Adeniji- Adele and Orile stations, the baby was eventually evacuated from the parents’ home after stiff resistance from other mobilised members of the Jehovah Witness on 30th December, 2019.”

The OPD said the baby was taken to Massey Street Children Hospital on Lagos Island.

It said the baby, which weighed 2.2kg at birth, weighed less than 1.7kg at the time of rescue, allegedly “due to lack of medical attention after being kept at home for one week and five days by the recalcitrant parents.”

OPD Director, Mrs. Olayinka Adeyemi, who visited the child at the weekend, said: “No responsible and responsive government would fold its arms and allowed any parent or guardian to act ignorantly on religious grounds in a way that would be risky or injurious to the life of any other person, especially children or their wards under their care.

“The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in its avowed commitment to provide good governance and security, shall leave no stone unturned when protecting rights of women, children, the vulnerable and indigent residents of the Lagos State irrespective of gender and religion.”

Adeyemi said the agency was not oblivious of the fact that many people’s rights are being violated and due to ignorance and poverty, victims cannot access justice.

She urged the public to take advantage of the OPD’s free legal services to get redress, protection and enforcement of their rights, and assured that the State Government would continue to work assiduously until the supremacy of the rule of Law reign in the State.

The director enjoined members of the public to continue to furnish it with relevant information of where human rights are being trampled upon for necessary legal action.

Police parade officers arrested for brutalising civilian in Enugu state

Enugu State Police Command has paraded three of its officers who were caught brutalising a civilian identified as Mr Justice Obasi in a viral social media video.

It was learnt that the incident which took place on January 4 along Kenyatta Street, Uwani, Enugu attracted the attention of the Inspector General of Police who ordered the identification and prosecution of the erring officers.

Commissioner of Police in Enugu, Mr Ahmed Abdurahman, while addressing journalists in his office on Monday revealed that the command had constituted a panel of inquiry whose report would be used as a base for the orderly room trial of the affected officers.


He said the panel had been given three days to conclude its work and report back to the command through his office.

“After the panel’s three days’ work, we will look into the panel’s findings and recommendation. Then, they will definitely face orderly room trial and after all these we know what level of punishment will be meted on them,’’ he said.

The commissioner said that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, who had seen the video clip and was quite disturbed.

“The members of the public should know that the Nigeria Police under the present IG cannot condone and shield such uncivilized characters.

“Nigerians should know that the negative action of the erring personnel is unprofessional and does not in any way reflect the image and attitude of the Nigeria Police. We are here to police with human face and some level of decorum and civility,’’ he said.

The officers included two Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO) and one police constable.

FIRE guts London's iconic KOKO nightclub (photos)

A fire started  last night at London's KOKO club, a landmark of the city's nightlife, but has been  controlled by the London Fire Brigade.

The fire started shortly before 9PM GMT at the Camden venue, the London Fire Brigade said.

Flames spread to "30% of the roof", the Brigade said.

"We were called at 20:56 to a fire at a #Camden nightclub under refurbishment. 30% of the roof is alight. Firefighters working hard to save the rest of the building", the London Fire brigade tweeted.


The London Fire Brigade said it brought "8 fire engines and around 60 firefighters" to tackle the blaze on London's Camden High Street.

Camden locals posted footage of the fire on social media, praising the Fire Brigade's swift response that avoided further damage.

Councillors for the neighbouring boroughs of Hampstead and Kentish Town said they were "devastated by the potential loss of such a huge part of Camden's culture" and that it was "heartbreaking" watching "a building that holds so many memories" catching fire.

Stampede at funeral of Iranian general killed by US leaves 32 dead and 190 injured

Thirty-two people have died in a stampede at the funeral of assassinated Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.

A further 190 were injured in the tragedy at Soleimani's hometown of Kerman, where the military chief was being laid to rest, according to state TV.

Tens of thousands had turned out to pay their respects as anger grows over his death.

Distressing footage shows victims being treated at the scene of the stampede. The general's burial has been postponed as a result of the stampede.

Soleimani was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad on Friday, and his death has provoked a crisis, with Iran pledging to avenge his death.

UAE introduces multi-entry tourist visas for five years for all nationalities

The United Arab Emirates on Monday introduced a multiple-entry visa scheme valid for five years for all nationalities, with the aim of turning the Gulf state into a tourism hub.

"#UAE Cabinet chaired by @HHShkMohd, approves new amendment for tourist visas in #UAE," the government of Dubai Media Office tweeted, referring to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE prime minister and ruler of Dubai.

"The new tourist visa will be valid for 5 years and can be used for multiple entries and is open for all nationalities," the Dubai Media Office wrote.

Sheikh Maktoum said on Twitter that the UAE currently attracts 21 million tourists a year.

Travellers from Africa, some South American countries, Arab states outside the Gulf, & European states from outside the European Union and former Soviet Union previously needed visas.

Stormzy has gained a new wave of respect after he appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning in his slippers.

The 26-year-old British rapper had come on the show to promote his new album, Heavy In My Head when host Dan Walker pointed out Stormzy’s interesting choice of shoes.

“Those slippers are magnificent!” the sports presenter announced.

The Blinded By Your Grace rapper had in fact forgotten his shoes and had opted to wear slippers for his interview, which were caught on camera.


“I forgot. I’m an idiot. I forgot,” the star told the hosts.

He went on to explain that he had been busy with signings and he usually just stays in his slippers.

“I just always stay in my slippers and then I got in the car and I was like, ‘Ah. I haven’t got my trainers’.” Stormzy explained.

Iran Soleimani killing: US denies Iraq pullout amid letter confusion

US Defence Secretary Mark Esper has denied US troops are pulling out of Iraq, after a letter from a US general there suggested a withdrawal.

The letter said the US would be "repositioning forces in the coming days and weeks" after Iraqi MPs had called for them to leave. Mr Esper said there had been "no decision whatsoever to leave".

The confusion came amid threats to American forces after the US killed top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani.

He died in a US drone strike in Baghdad on Friday on the orders of Mr Trump. The killing has sharply increased regional tensions, with Iran threatening "severe revenge".

Man arrested for using phone line previously owned by Buhari’s daughter

A Nigerian, Anthony Okolie, has been illegally detained by the Department of State Services for 10 weeks for purchasing and using an MTN SIM card previously used and abandoned by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.

The telephone number was said to have been recycled and put up for sale by the popular telecommunications network provider.

Okolie still has receipt he was given for the purchase of the SIM in question.

Making the revelation in a post on Twitter on Monday, rights activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore, who was himself detained unlawfully by the DSS for months for calling on Nigerians to take to the streets and demand a better country from the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, described the situation as sad.

He said, "A Nigerian, Anthony Okolie, was detained for 10 weeks by the DSS for using an MTN phone line previously used and abandoned by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan."

Recounting his meeting with Okolie at the DSS cell they shared together, Sowore's co-defendant in the case brought against them by the Nigerian Government, Olawale Bakare widely known as Mandate, in a post on Twitter said, "Only if Nigerians know the level of lawlessness perpetuated by the DSS in the name of 'order from above', we will understand the danger of having a tyrant who has no iota of respect for human rights or dignity.

"The level of arrogance and confidence of the DSS to unlawfully detain innocent Nigerians is disgustingly obvious in their manner of operation and approach.

"Anthony Okolie who happened to be my cellmate at the DSS facility even got lucky to have spent only 10 weeks for committing no offence according to a Senior Intelligence Officer.

"Till now, no one, including Anthony, knows his offence.

"He was only released after being told that "You're now forgiven".

"I can also recall a man who spent four years for only receiving a phone call from a suspected Boko Haram terrorist.

"His property was sold by his siblings while his wife went ahead to remarry with their two children thinking that he was dead.

"The most annoying part is in their hypocrisy, when they try to hide under the law to peddle or legitimise their tyranny and injustice.

"The abrogation of your freedom, security and safety is a step away from 'order from above."

Speaking with SaharaReporters over the bizarre incident, human rights lawyer, Tope Akinyode, said the situation was truly disturbing.

Bayelsa boils, as policeman shoots dead corp member, two others

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State boiled on Monday as a policeman reportedly shot dead three people.

Those shot dead are a commercial driver and two of his passengers. The dastard act has led to riot in the state’s capital.

According to reports, the policeman guarding a new generation bank at the Ekeki axis of the capital city was said to have opened fire on a commercial bus belonging to Peace Mass, a popular transport company in Yenagoa.

The policeman was said to have escaped through a commercial tricycle. the bullet was said to have pierced through the driver’s head and hit two other passengers, including a suspected member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The incident occurred opposite a Peace Mass terminus while the driver was trying to let his passengers disembark his bus before making a detour to enter the terminus.

Trouble started when the policeman got enraged because the driver stopped the ill-fated bus in front of the bank.

An eyewitness described the shooting as totally unnecessary, saying the driver was still behind the wheels of his vehicle when the policeman released the shot.

“We were just in front of here when the policeman started the argument that led to the shooting”, the source said.

“The argument was unnecessary because the driver was just trying to allow his passengers disembark the bus. I heard the driver telling the policeman that he would soon leave the place. But before we knew what was happening, the policeman cocked his gun and shot at him.

“He was lifeless. The bullet hit two other passengers, who were lying unconscious. It was an ugly sight. But the policeman immediately boarded a commercial tricycle and ran away.

“There are about three policemen guarding the bank, but this particular one has been troublesome. He is always aggressive and is always harassing and extorting commercial tricycles here.

“It is very disheartening. The bus came from Onitsha in Anambra State without problems only for this ugly incident to happen at its destination,” the source added.

Police confirm arrest of kidnap gang

The Abia police command has confirmed the arrest of a kidnap gang comprising five men, who are in connection with the alleged abduction of a boy from Umuoba, the headquarters of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ene Okon, confirmed the arrest in Aba on Monday.

Okon said that the suspects had also confessed to the crime. “I am aware of the arrest of five kidnap suspects, who have confessed to their kidnap escapades,” he said.

He said that the suspects, who were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), were undergoing interrogation.


A reliable police source, which pleaded anonymity said that the suspects were arrested on Monday morning in Isiala Ngwa north.

The suspects were identified as Ejike Nwankocha, 42, who claimed to be a native doctor; David Alfred, 23; Augustine Ejike, 24; Alexander Azubunne, 24 and Chide Monye, 23.

The source said that the suspects hail from Amaekpu Autonomous Community in the council area.

The suspects abducted the young boy to use him as a bait to get his relation resident abroad to pay ransom for his release.

The police source said that trouble started on December 18, when a woman, who boarded a bus from Abuja to Aba, was “trans-loaded” to another vehicle with some other passengers at Umuahia.

It further said that when the driver got close to Isiala Ngwa Junction, he stopped and picked two young men and later veered off the road towards their den, after letting off two youth corps members.
