Man edits himself and girlfriend in to Sleeping Beauty movie in epic Disney proposal

A Disney fan proposed to his unsuspecting girlfriend by editing them both into a specially made screening of Sleeping Beauty.

Lee Loechler popped the question to his high school sweetheart Sthuthi David in front of friends and family in this heartwarming clip.

The filmmaker painstakingly worked with Australian illustrator Kayla Coombs for over six months to get the proposal video exactly right.

Lee wrote on Instagram : "It’s not every day you get to propose to your High School sweetheart.

"For the past six months I’ve been working with  @kaylacoombs  to animate  @stutzd4  and myself into her favorite movie, Sleeping Beauty.
"The only thing better than seeing the smartest person I know completely dumbfounded was knowing we’d get to live happily ever after together. Enjoy!"

Loechler, from Boston, US, chose to alter one of the film's most iconic scenes where the princess is awoken by the kiss of her suitor.

Future wife Sthuthi looks in complete shock as he gets down on one knee to ask her to marry him.

"Sthuthi David, MD, will you live happily ever after with me?" Loechler asked.

Sthuthi responded "I don't know what to say!" before consenting to the highly-unconventional marriage proposal.

Social media users have expressed their delight at the incredible marriage video which has since gone viral on social media.

One Twitter user described the clip as 'the best thing they had ever seen'.

Ukraine demands Iran punish those guilty of shooting down airliner and calls for victims' remains to be returned with compensation

Ukraine demands Iran punish those guilty of shooting down airliner killing 176 people and calls for victims' remains to be returned home along with compensation for families

Ukraine has demanded that Iran punish those guilty for the downing of a Ukrainian airliner and compensate victims.

'We expect Iran to bring the guilty to the courts,' the Ukrainian leader wrote on Facebook, calling also for the 'payment of compensation' and the return of remains.

It also praised Tehran for cooperating with an 'objective' investigation.

Ukrainian president Volodomyr Zelensky was due to discuss the incident with his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani at 5pm local time, his press office said.

Iran admitted Saturday that it accidentally downed the Ukraine International Airlines plane, killing all 176 people on board on Wednesday, shortly after launching missiles at bases hosting US forces in Iraq.

Rouhani said Tehran 'deeply regrets this disastrous mistake'.

Tehran has invited the United States, Ukraine, Canada and others to join the crash investigation.

Kiev said that Iran had cooperated with its experts and it expects an objective probe.

Tehran has handed Ukrainian experts enough data including 'all the photos, videos and other materials' to show the investigation 'will be carried out objectively and promptly,' Zelensky's office said.

'The political part of the work is finished,' it added.

UIA vice president Igor Sosnovsky told a news conference in Kiev on Saturday that Tehran should have closed the airport due to the escalation of regional tensions following the US assassination of a top Iranian general.

'It's absolutely irresponsible,' Sosnovsky said, accusing Iran of failing to protect ordinary citizens while 'playing at war.'

'They were obliged to close the airport. Obliged! Then shoot as much as you like.'

Iran said a missile operator shot down the Boeing 737 after mistaking it for a cruise missile at a time when threats were at the highest level.

Queen wants Royal rift repaired in 72 hours as Harry prepares to leave the country with no return date

The Queen has ordered that the row over the future roles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex be resolved within the next 72 hours amid speculation that Prince Harry could leave Britain as early as next week.

The 93-year-old monarch, who was pictured on Friday for the first time since the couple declared their intention to split from the Royal family, told courtiers to solve the dispute by Tuesday evening, ahead of the Duke’s first public appearance since his announcement later next week.

Her Majesty has insisted the crisis lasts no longer than the six days that elapsed between the Duke of York’s Newsnight interview and his stepping back from royal duties.

The Queen also told courtiers to “turn a crisis into an opportunity” by producing a blueprint not only for her grandson and his wife, but future royal generations, including Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

But with the Duchess already back in Canada, a source close to the Duke questioned whether the deadline could be met and suggested they would resist any attempt to reach a hasty agreement on their future roles.

Insisting the Sussexes “were not going to quickly sign off their future and their lives”, the royal insider cast doubt over whether a solution could be found in the “next few days”.

The Duke, 35, has still not held meetings with his grandmother, father or brother, although it is understood further telephone conversations between them will take place over the weekend as their staff continued to work on a compromise.

The Queen is currently in Norfolk, the Prince of Wales is in Scotland, the Duke of Cambridge is in London and the Duke of Sussex is in Windsor, separated from his wife and seven-month-old son, Archie, who are believed to be staying on Vancouver Island.

It is not known when the Duchess will return to the UK. Prince Harry is expected to honour an official engagement at Buckingham Palace next Thursday and could leave soon afterwards, although an aide stressed he would not fly to Canada until “a satisfactory deal was done”.

Woman posed as teenage boy to sexually assault up to 50 young girls across country

A woman posed as a teenage boy to sexually assault up to 50 girls as young as 14 after grooming them online, police have revealed today.

Gemma Watts, 21, travelled the country by train to meet the youngsters, who believed they were in a relationship with a boy close to their own age.

Disguised with her long hair tied into a bun and wearing a baseball cap, baggy jogging bottoms and a hoodie, Watts convinced them she was 16-year-old "Jake Waton".

She used her own picture on Jake's Snapchat and Instagram accounts, targeting girls aged 14-16 by liking their profiles.

Watts, who lived at home with her mother in Enfield, north London, shared skateboarding videos, used teenage slang and flattered them with complimentary messages, calling them "babe" or other pet names.

She would then swap messages with victims, including intimate photographs, using WhatsApp, Snapchat, or text, and speak over the phone before meeting them in person.

Watts was so convincing that she even spent time as Jake with some of the girls' parents.

And all of Watts' victims believed they were in a relationship with a teenage boy until police revealed she was in fact an adult woman.

Watts, who once had a promising football career, is facing jail after pleading guilty to seven sexual assault and grooming charges.

The offences relate to four girls, including a 14-year-old from Hampshire and three 15-year-olds from Surrey, Plymouth and the West Midlands.

Watts is due to be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court later today following a joint investigation by the Met and Hampshire police.

Detective Constable Phillipa Kenwright, from the Metropolitan Police, said: "It's been life-changing for all of the victims involved. They believed they were in a relationship with a young teenage boy, to then find out this was actually a female.

"For some of these girls it was their first relationship... She's duped them the whole time," she continued.

"A lot of these victims are young, quite innocent. They have been completely taken in by Gemma Watts. They all believed they were in a relationship with a male."

Investigators have identified a total of seven victims, some of whom don't want to give a statement.

But DC Kenwright said: "I think there will be further victims, who were in a relationship with Watts, who will now realise she is a woman.

"A lot of these victims are young, innocent and have been completely taken in by Jake Waton.

"I think she had been grooming other young victims online using social media profiles, which are very believable."

Watts first came to the attention of Hampshire police in March 2018 after a doctor raised concerns that a girl was in a relationship with an older boy.

DC Kenwright added: "If the first known victim had not approached her doctor, Watts might not have been brought to police attention and could have continued offending for a very long time.

Scotland Yard secured a civil Sexual Risk Order in November 2018, in a bid to protect the public, which Watts breached just two weeks later.

She was held on remand after being arrested for sexual assault in March last year but was free again in August when she was acquitted.

Watts was finally charged in September and pleaded guilty to seven offences in November, which include:

- Assault by penetration, sexual assault and grooming against 14-year-old girl from Hampshire;

First person dies from mysterious virus in China

A 61-year-old man has died from pneumonia in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in an outbreak of a yet to be identified virus while seven others are in critical condition, Wuhan health authorities say.

In total 41 people have been diagnosed with the pathogen, which preliminary lab tests cited by Chinese state media earlier this week pointed to a new type of coronavirus, the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission said on Saturday in a statement on its website.

Two of them have been discharged from hospital and the rest are in stable condition, while 739 people deemed to have been in close contact with the patients have been cleared, it said.

The man, the first victim of the outbreak that began in December, was a regular buyer at the seafood market and had been previously diagnosed with abdominal tumours and chronic liver disease, the health authority said. Treatments did not improve his symptoms after he was admitted to hospital and he died on the evening of 9 January when his heart failed.

No new cases had been detected since 3 January, the commission added.

Iran crisis: US Ambassador claims killing Qassem Soleimani was an act of peace

The US drone killing of a top Iranian commander was an act of peace, Donald Trump’s man in Britain claimed today.

US Ambassador Woody Johnson backed the President’s decision to assassinate General Qassem Soleimani - and insisted it was not a provocative strike.

Washington and Tehran appear to have stepped back from the brink of war after Iran fired 16 rockets at coalition air bases in Iraq in retaliation for Soleimani’s death.

Mr Johnson said Mr Trump has “always been ready to talk about peace”.

The envoy was asked on LBC Radio if “is it the action of a President who wants peace to kill the commander of the Revolutionary Forces? Is that a peace-loving action?”

The American diplomat said: “I think it is when his sworn duty is to protect Americans.”

Soleiman was killed one week ago by a US air strike at Baghdad airport in Iraq, ordered by President Donald Trump .

JAMB makes U-turn on use of NIN for 2020 exams

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of the use of National Identification Number for registration for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME.

This was revealed by JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, while briefing journalists in Abuja on Saturday.

The latest announcement came after the board last year said from 2020, candidates will register for its examinations with their national ID numbers to solve the challenges of multiple registrations.

However, Oloyede said the move was to provide more time for candidates to get their national identification numbers before 2021.

He said the suspension was also to address the technical challenges experienced at some centres.

He asked candidates to disregard the use of NIN for the 2020 registration and strictly comply with other procedures for the registration.

Oloyede, however, noted that JAMB will consider the use of NIMC for the 2021 exams.

Harry's and Meghan's wax figures removed from Madame Tussauds London's royal exhibit

Madame Tussauds London is giving the royal boot to the wax figures of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, less than 24 hours after the couple announced plans to take a "step back" from their roles as senior members of the British royal family.

The museum said in a statement Thursday that the waxworks of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been removed from its display to "mirror their progressive new role within the Royal institution."

"Alongside the rest of the world, we are reacting to the surprising news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be stepping back as senior Royals," said Steve Davies, the museum's general manager.

The wax figures of the couple were unveiled in May 2018 ahead of their wedding in Windsor, England. In the display of the royal family, Harry's and Meghan's figures had stood next to those of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, and of Prince William and his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Davies said the figures were extremely popular and well-loved among visitors and will "remain an important feature." He did not say where the waxworks would be moved.

Madame Tussauds' New York location is following suit. A spokesperson said in a statement: "Our experiences bring iconic moments to life; to reflect the announcement we will be moving the popular figures to another area in the attraction upon their return to Madame Tussauds New York."

"We look forward to spending more time with the couple in North America and we will continue to watch to see what the next chapter holds for them," the statement continued.

Harry and Meghan shocked the public when they announced their plans Wednesday to "step back as senior members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent," while still supporting the queen.

Steve McQueen’s 1968 Ford Mustang sells for $3.4m

The 1968 Ford Mustang GT that Steve McQueen drove in the classic car chase from the movie “Bullitt, one of the most famed cars from American cinema, sold for a record $3.4 million at auction in Florida on Friday, Mecum Auctions said.

It was the highest price ever paid for a Ford Mustang at auction, according to David Morton, marketing manager for the auction house in Kissimmee, near Orlando. The buyer has not been publicly identified.

“The hammer dropped at $3.4 million, but with buyers’ fees, the total cost is $3.74 million,” he said, adding it shattered the auction house’s previous record set last year of $2.2 million.

The unrestored muscle car, its “highland green” paint looking rusty and black upholstery splitting apart, starred in a 10-minute sequence in the 1968 film, getting airborne a few times as it sped through the hilly streets of San Francisco.

The car was auctioned without a reserve, or minimum sale price, a risky decision that could have forced the owners to sell low.

McQueen filmed with the window down so viewers could see he was behind the wheel. Although credited as the driver, McQueen actually shared the wheel with Hollywood stunt driver Bud Ekins, according to the movie database IMDB.

Many movie buffs view the chase as ground-breaking for its duration and white-knuckle drama. The sequence forgoes a score in favour of roaring engines and screeching tires. McQueen, playing the no-nonsense police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt, was chasing bad guys who drove a black 1968 Dodge Charger.

After filming, the Mustang was sold to a Warner Brothers employee, and later to a New Jersey police detective. He in turn sold it for $6,000 in 1974 to Robert Kiernan of Madison, New Jersey, who held onto the car until he died in 2014.

Kiernan rejected multiple offers for the car, including one from McQueen himself, according to the New York Times. He left  it to his son, Sean.
