Paul Pogba desperate to return for Man Utd after "terrible" injury-hit season

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is "desperate" to play again - after having his ankle cast removed following surgery earlier this month.

That is according to Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who failed to give a date for the French World Cup winner's return from injury.

The 26-year-old has made only eight appearances in all competitions this season having been sidelined for three months earlier in the campaign before deciding to undergo surgery.

"Paul's had a terrible season with injuries, he's desperate to play football," Solskjaer said ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City, where they will look to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit.


“If there's one thing that I know about Paul, he loves playing football and he loves just being out there training as well, and it's been playing on his mind.

“Any player who is injured cannot wait to get back on the pitch, you feel so free. He's been playing with pain, so I'm sure when he's pain-free and he's injury-free, he'll enjoy his football.”

And, in another boost for United, Bruno Fernandes is flying into Manchester on Wednesday to complete his move to Old Trafford.

Kim Kardashian thanks Beyonce for a massive Ivy Park X Adidas package

Kim Kardashian received a huge gift from Beyonce, a massive box of clothing from the singer's new Ivy Park X collection, which re-launched earlier this month.

Kardashian, 39, took to her Instagram story to share several videos of  her checking out a large wheeled cart with an Ivy Park X strap fastened to it, with Kim stating, 'I can't wait to see what's inside.

After looking inside, the reality star gushed that, 'There are literally the most amazing things in here,' while going through the ware.

Kim pulled back one back which featured a grill fashioned out of the famous three-stripe Adidas logo, which Kim said was her, 'favorite grill ever.'


She then pulled back another clear bag which showed an Ivy Park X hat inside along with several other assorted items. \\

She gasped after seeing a body suit, adding, 'There's just so much! Thank you Beyonce so much. Thank you Adidas.'

The fashion mogul ended her small tour of the gift card by showcasing a pair of maroon Adidas sneakers that matched the body suit.

Kim then put her runway modeling skills to the test, showing off the maroon body suit set to Beyonce's hit Run the World (Girls).


She then took some close-up videos of her wearing the form-fitting, curve-hugging bodysuit, with the matching sneakers.

She concluded her flurry of videos with a message of thanks to Beyonce and Adidas for sending her the package.

'Sorry I'm sooo late! Congrats @beyonce and @adidas on such a hugely successful launch,' Kim said.


'I love everything and can't wait to wear it all!!' she concluded.

Senate Minority Leader calls for Buhari’s resignation

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, has faulted President Buhari following the rising insecurity in the country, asking the president to resign immediately.

Abaribe who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the call when the Senate discussed a motion on national security challenges and the need to restructure Nigeria’s security system during plenary today Wednesday, January 29th.

While making his contribution to the motion, Senator Abaribe, who was the first to contribute to the motion, faulted the president for failing to tackle the security challenges in the country.

Reporter reinstated after Kobe Bryant tweet row

The Washington Post has reinstated a reporter who tweeted about historic sexual allegations against Kobe Bryant soon after his death.

Felicia Sonmez posted a link to a 2016 article about the allegations, and received death threats online.

She was later suspended over the tweets - prompting hundreds of her colleagues to condemn the paper.

Managing editor Tracy Grant called the posts "ill-timed", but said they did not break the paper's policies.


"We consistently urge restraint, which is particularly important when there are tragic deaths," her statement read. "We regret having spoken publicly about a personnel matter."

More than 300 Washington Post employees signed a letter in support of Ms Sonmez on Tuesday, including Pulitzer Prize winners David Fahrenthold and Beth Reinhard, and White House Bureau Chief Philip Rucker.

The Washington Post Guild welcomed the decision to reinstate the reporter, although said it was "disappointed" that the paper did not apologise to Sonmez and said the company should prioritise staff safety in the future.

And Sonmez herself called on chief editor Marty Baron to explain why the paper handled the issue as it did, and stressed that she had tweeted about "a matter of public record".

Sonmez tweeted a 2016 Daily Beast story about the rape allegations against Kobe Bryant just hours after the basketball legend died in a helicopter crash that killed nine people - including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

Court lessens Abdulrasheed Maina’s bail conditions

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja has lessened the conditions of the bail he granted the former chairman, Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina on November 26, 2019.

The defendant has been unable to meet the bail conditions, which has led to his continued  stay at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja. .

Maina is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 12-count charge, bordering on money laundering to the tune of N2.1billion.

Recall that the court on November 26, 2019, admitted Maina to bail in the sum of N500million and two sureties in like sum. The sureties, according to the court, must be serving senators with no criminal matter in any of the courts.

Bayelsa workers protest non-payment of salary, minimum wage

Workers in Bayelsa state have staged a mass protest over non-payment of December 2019 salary and minimum wage from January 2020 salary by blocking the entrance of the treasury building in Yenagoa.

The workers said their anger is that they fear that the outgoing Governor Seriake Dickson who will vacate off on February 14 may deliberately be footdragging to leave the salary arrears to the incoming administration led for the first time in 21 years by an opposition political party.

After 20 years of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, grip on the governance of the state since the dawn of democracy in 1999, the All Progressives Congress, APC, will form a government with David Lyon as the elected Governor.


Also, according to them, the protest was as a result of non-payment of December to salaries some workers and non-payment of the new minimum wage in January 2020 as promised by the state Government.

The Chairman of Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Julius Laye, and Chairman Joint Negotiating Council, Olomo Dimei, while explaining their ordeal to journalists in Yenagoa and at the venue of the protest, demanded the state government pays their salaries as when due and implement the minimum wage like other states in the country.

On his part, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, John Idiomu, said the address of the Secretary to the State Government to Labour leaders on the reason for the non-payment of workers salaries was not pleasing to the workers; stressing they will only leave the premises if their January salaries are paid.

RRS arrest suspects using POS machines to extort motorists

The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested seven suspects who allegedly use Point of Sale (POS) machines to extort unsuspecting motorists.

The suspects were arrested after a complaint by one of their victims, that they extorted motorists along LASU-Igando Expressway by claiming to be on contract with Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area in Alimosho Local Government Area.

Suspects were identified as 48-year-old Taiwo Falodun, 48-year-old Mukaila Atanda, 40-year-old Adedire Olaniyi, 26-year-old Chibuzor Eze, 48-year-old Akinseye Alex, 50-year-old Rasak Eko and 46-year-old Aro Dotun.


They reportedly extorted one of their victims of N41,000 for not speeding on the Expressway on Thursday, January 23. Their victim’s vehicle which was impounded after being forced to drive to their hideout along LASU-Igando Expressway, was released on Friday January 24.

When RRS stormed their hideouts, 15 cars and two commercial buses with deflated tyres were recovered.

Disturbing audio of Kobe Bryant's helicopter in its final moment

A California woman who lives near the site where Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crashed says her Google Nest camera captured audio of the doomed aircraft’s final moments, a report said.

Ronna Leavitt’s recording, which was obtained by ABC 7 Los Angeles, has a timestamp of 9:45 a.m. — the same time Bryant’s Sikorsky S-76B plummeted into the hills of Calabasas.

What is believed to be Bryant’s helicopter can be heard at varying levels of intensity throughout the 43-second clip.

Three seconds before the clip ends, a thump can be heard, followed by silence.


Leavitt told the network that she heard the chopper Sunday morning before it made a U-turn and crashed into the nearby hilly terrain.

She provided the video to investigators.

The 41-year-old NBA legend, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others were killed in the wreckage.

Leavitt’s Nest video is not the only footage purported to capture Bryant’s chopper.

Glendale resident David Lyudmirsky shot cell phone video of what is believed to be Bryant’s helicopter “performing a very aggressive circling maneuver’’ a half-hour before it crashed.

NYSC DG confirms N33,000 allowance for Corps members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General (DG), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has confirmed that the Federal Government in line with the new National Minimum Wage has approved N33,000 allowance for Corps members.

The NYSC-DG disclosed this while speaking to Corps members at the NYSC Bauchi State Secretariat during his working visit to the State.

In a press statement posted on the official Facebook page of NYSC, the DG explained: “provision had been made for the new allowance in the year 2020 Budget, adding that payment would commence as soon as funds are released by the appropriate authorities.

The General overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye is presently trending on twitter for his teachings on fidelity.

In a series of tweets this morning, the cleric had admonished Christians to take their marriage seriously, challenging them to cut off whatever could make them contemplate adultery.

He said: “Today, I will be focusing on the married. It is sad that many married people are still having crushes with persons apart from their spouses.

Justin Bieber had cold feet about marriage and doubts about staying faithful

Justin Bieber was nervous about committing to wife Hailey Baldwin before he popped the question in 2018.

The Baby singer, 25, feared that he wouldn’t be able to stay faithful to his then on-off model girlfriend, 23, and was worried about honouring his vows.

The Canadian heartthrob opened up about his marriage in a candid interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday 28.

"I was extremely nervous,” he told host Ellen.


“I felt like in the past, we had talked about you know, me asking the question, and I felt like she would say 'yes’.

"I wasn't really nervous about the saying yes, but I think I was more nervous about, 'Am I gonna make this commitment?


“Am I able to make this commitment as a man and be able to honour what I say? because that's a serious commitment, when you say you're gonna love someone for better or for worse and be faithful... That's huge.

British Airways suspends flights to China as coronavirus spreads

British Airways has suspended all direct flights between the United Kingdom and China in light of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak.

"We have suspended all flights to and from mainland China with immediate effect following advice from the Foreign Office against all but essential travel," the company said in a statement Wednesday.

The UK's Foreign Office warned people against traveling to mainland China in all but essential cases on Tuesday.

It's the most drastic action yet by a major airline as the deadly coronavirus continues to spread.

The virus has killed 132 people and infected nearly 6,000 people in China so far, with dozens more cases confirmed in places such as the United States, Japan, Germany and France.

Brit man, 39, found hanged at US immigration centre

A British man who died in a US immigration detention centre has been named as Ben James Owen.

The 39-year-old's preliminary cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging, it is reported.

Owen was being held at the Baker County Detention Center in Macclenny, Florida, following his arrest on suspicion of aggravated stalking, false imprisonment and domestic assault.

The Brit, who entered the US on a temporary visa in July last year, was the fifth person to die in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody since October.

“Our staff are in contact with the US authorities following the death of a British man in Florida,” said a spokeswoman for the Foreign Office in London.

Kobe Bryant saw daughter Gianna as his legacy and knew she was 'destined for greatness'

Kobe Bryant believed his daughter Gianna was "destined for greatness" and thought she would be the one to carry on his legacy.

The basketball legend was tragically killed in a helicopter crash with eight other people at the weekend, including 13-year-old Gianna.

Gianna played in an Amateur Athletic Union basketball team coached by her father, playing alongside Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester, who both died in the crash with them.

She had attended many games with her dad and he even enlisted the help of his old coach God Shammgod to train Gianna and her teammates in dribbling a ball last February.


Shammgod told The New York Times: "When I say that’s all he wanted to do is dribbling, that’s all he wanted to do.

"From 10 to 12 in the morning, then from 2 to 4. These girls were dribbling four hours straight without shooting the basketball."

He then started doing one-on-one training with Gianna, with Shammgod saying: "Her mind-set was just like his mind-set."
