California also orders residents to STAY AT HOME

California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered his state’s residents to stay at home. The order affects roughly 40 million people in the country’s largest state.

The announcement comes as the country attempts to blunt the rapidly escalating reported cases of the coronavirus, which has surged past 13,600 cases, including 200 deaths, according to data compiled by John Hopkins University.

There are more than 1,000 cases in California.

The directive went into effect on Thursday evening, restricting non-essential movement, while allowing essential business and services like grocery stores and pharmacies to operate.

“We’re not victims of circumstance. We can make decisions to meet moments.

This is a moment we need to make tough decisions,” Newsom said in a televised address.

Newsom said the decision would be enforced through “social pressure” and regulatory frameworks, but he did not believe the order would require policing.

The order allows residents to leave their homes for exercise and fresh air.

Newsom’s state-wide order was announced shortly after Los Angeles County announced a similar measure.

Land Rover designs special Autobiography for Anthony Joshua

Land Rover has created a one-off Range Rover SVAutobiography for world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, OBE.

The bespoke luxury SUV made its world premiere outside the Finchley Boxing Club in Barnet, north London, where Joshua started his journey to the world heavyweight title, and will transport the reigning champion to his next title defence later this year.

A series of unique details set Joshua’s luxury SUV apart, with the boxer’s four world heavyweight championship titles recognised alongside his family crest on a special B-pillar badge. The circular design is engraved with the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO initials while Joshua’s signature is embroidered on the headrests of all four seats inside.

Joshua has just confirmed details of his next fight, against Bulgarian challenger Kubrat Pulev at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on June 20. His specially commissioned Range Rover SVAutobiography long wheelbase will make his ride to the fight as comfortable as possible.

Anthony Joshua said: “The countdown to my next fight has begun and this custom Range Rover will play its part in the build-up. With family and media commitments here in London and my training base in Sheffield, I spend lots of time on the road.

The SVAutobiography will take the stress out of long trips, allowing me to relax in complete comfort, and its unique design features both my family crest and references to my boxing success and I have to thank the team at Land Rover Vehicle Personalisation for taking my ideas and making them real.”

Woman, 80, in coronavirus lockdown in Spain in tears as neighbours sing happy birthday through the window

A Pensioner in a coronavirus lockdown in Spain was brought to tears after her neighbours surprised her with a cake for her 80th birthday.

The footage filmed in Lavapies, Madrid, shows the heartwarming moment a neighbour knocks on the door of 80-year-old Charo.

He calls out for his neighbour's name and when she opens the door she discovers the cake placed on a table outside her front door.

As Charo steps out of the apartment, her neighbours burst into singing a rendition of "Happy Birthday" from their apartment windows.

The 80-year-old's birthday had fallen just days after the Spanish government announced the entire country would go into lockdown in drastic measures to stop the spread of the virus.

As the clip continues, the elderly woman struggles to hold back tears as she retreats into her apartment doorway.

She then rushes back out to the hallway to wave at her neighbours as they sing but thanking them with a round of applause.

It was reported that the neighbourhood that Charo lives in has a "strong sense of community" as soon of the residents are in danger of being evicted over fears their properties are unsafe.

So far 11,748 people have been tested positive for the deadly virus in Spain with 533 deaths reported since the start of the pandemic.

More than 1300 coronavirus suspects under watch in Lagos

More than 1300 coronavirus suspects are being tracked in Lagos, after being in contact with the 11 confirmed positive cases, commissioner for health, Professor Akin Abayomi said yesterday.

He said the government is following up the huge number of suspects to find information about the state of their health.

He said the number of suspects is growing everyday and appealed to the suspects to self-isolate and report themselves if they develop symptoms.

Abayomi said that 19 people were tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, with four out of them testing positive to the virus.

He said the positive cases have been isolated for treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.

According to him, one of the four new cases is a woman who had contact with the Nigerian woman who returned from UK and currently receiving treatment for testing positive.

“The second new case is a female who returned from France on March 14 on a Turkish Airline TK 1830”.

He said that the third case is a Nigerian male in his 50s who had not travelled anywhere, but tested positive to the virus.

Abayomi added that the fourth new case is a Nigerian male who arrived in Lagos from Frankfurt on Lufthansa Airline flight number LH568 on March 13.

He said that more tests were ongoing with some suspected cases, while appealing to passengers on the two flights to self-isolate themselves and contact the government.

“It is clear that we have combination of imported cases and local transmission. The Executive of Lagos State is meeting on the next stage on social distancing.

“The best way to slow the rate is to halt movement of the virus from person to person,” Abayomi said.

Abayomi urged the citizens to remain calm, practice constant handwashing and good respiratory hygiene.

Coronavirus: Italy's death toll overtakes China's

Coronavirus has killed more people in Italy than in any other country, after deaths there rose by 427 in a day.

The number of deaths now stands at 3,405, which is more than in China where the virus originated last year.

There have been 3,245 reported deaths in China, but there have been questions over the reliability of its data.

A lockdown imposed on 12 March in Italy has been extended beyond the original 25 March end date. Nearly all Italians have been told to stay at home.

Despite these measures, the number of new cases and deaths has continued to spiral.

There have been 220,000 cases of the virus worldwide with more than 9,000 deaths.

COVID-19: CAN direct churches to conduct online, house cell services

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed churches in the country to conduct services online or use house cell based service.

It also asked the churches to observe March 22 and March 29 as days of prayers against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Nigeria and globally.

CAN President, Samson Ayokunle, in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Adebayo Oladeji, on Thursday, advised all churches to follow the guidelines for combating COVID-19 in all gatherings.

He noted that ban on the presence of more than 50 people in a gathering had been placed by most state governments.

Mr Ayokunle said where possible, particularly for churches who do not have online system, services can be broken into shifts of not more than 50 members in each shift.

“CAN has called on all churches in the country to set aside March 22 and 29 apart to pray for an end to Coronavirus Pandemic in Nigeria and all over the world.

“Our prayer points should be that God should stop the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria and all over the world. God should also protect Nigerians from this disease.

“We should also pray that God should heal those that are already infected,” he said.

The CAN president also advised churches to follow the directive on religious gatherings.

“Each branch or assembly should provide alcohol-based hand rub sanitizer for use and regular washing of hands with soap and water.
“Maintain at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing and avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

“Drink hot water regularly and practice respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.

“Dispose the used tissue immediately. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, then seek early medical care,” he said.

He advised Christians to pray with Psalm 91 and have faith in God that the virus would become history all over the world in Jesus Name.

Four Indian men executed for 2012 Delhi bus r.a.p.e and murder

Four Indian men convicted of the gang r.a.p.e and murder of a student in Delhi in 2012 have been hanged.

Akshay Thakur, Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh were sentenced to death by a trial court in 2013.

The four were hanged in the capital's high-security Tihar prison in the first executions in India since 2015.

The victim died from her injuries days after being raped by six men on a moving bus. The incident caused outrage and led to new anti-r.a.p.e laws in India.

The 23-year-old physiotherapy student was dubbed Nirbhaya - the fearless one - by the press as she could not be named under Indian law.

Six people were arrested for the attack. One of them, Ram Singh, was found dead in jail in March 2013, having apparently taken his own life.

Another, who was 17 at the time of the attack, was released in 2015 after serving three years in a reform facility - the maximum term possible for a juvenile in India.

Saudi to arrest duo for drinking steriliser to ward off coronavirus

Saudi Arabia’s public prosecutor on Thursday ordered the arrest of two people who appeared in a video drinking a disinfectant in a bid to stave off the new coronavirus.

The young men were separately seen gulping down a steriliser in a video that went viral, triggering a flurry of angry comments online.

On Twitter, the public prosecution office said it ordered the men to be arrested for “drinking a disinfectant that is not suitable for human consumption” and “misleading people that it will protect them from the coronavirus”.

One Twitter user demanded the “most severe punishment” for the duo, saying they put other young people at risk as they could be tempted to imitate them.

Saudi Arabia has reported 274 coronavirus cases but no deaths so far.

The Arab world’s biggest economy has shut down cinemas, malls and restaurants, halted flights and suspended the year-round umrah pilgrimage in a bid to contain the deadly virus.

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday suspended prayers inside all its mosques except the holiest two sites in Islam as it steps up efforts to contain the virus.

More than 1,000 cases of the virus have been recorded so far across the six nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

P.o.r.nhub traffic explodes as Coronavirus traps users at home

Po.rnhub revealed that worldwide traffic to the site has increased by 11.6% as people begin to self-quarantine and work from home in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

On a normal day, Pornhub has roughly 120 million visitors, but with the traffic spike, almost 134 million people are getting their fix on a daily basis — and many of them are explicitly searching for coronavirus porn. According to their analytics team, the site has logged more than 9.1 million searches containing either “corona” or “covid,” a figure that’s equal parts fascinating and disturbing.

Pornhub reports that its worldwide traffic has exploded over the last month, and specifically, from March 8 to March 17. As people around the world have begun to settle into self-isolation, traffic to the site has been above-average and steadily rising.

On Tuesday, March 17, worldwide P,or,nhub traffic was up 11.6% compared to an average day in early February (you know, back when things were normal), a high for the site during the period of time recorded. That same day, U.S. traffic spiked by 6.4%, so clearly people had a very fun St. Patrick’s Day.

According to Pornhub, offering free Premium access to people in locked down countries has also helped increase site visitors. On March 12, the website offered free Premium content for all of Italy, resulting in a massive 57% change in traffic boom. On March 16, Pornhub did the same for users in France and Spain and saw similar above-average increases of 38.2% and 61.3%, respectively.

It seems like the public health crisis has inspired a large portion of these 134 million visitors, as well. Pornhub reports that statisticians have recorded more than 9 million searches containing either “corona” or “covid” in the last 30 days, a figure that peaked on March 5 with 1.5 million searches. Since then, fewer people have been searching for coronavirus porn, but the number hasn’t dwindled entirely: on March 16, the site logged 427,504 searches for sexy COVID-19 content.

Shockingly, U.S. viewers are among the least likely to search for coronavirus porn. According to Pornhub’s analytics, visitors from Slovakia are 119% more likely to search for steamy virus videos, followed by Bulgaria and Ireland (both 88%). Comparatively, American visitors are only 10% more likely to search for coronaviru

Church-related meetings have also been stopped in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive that banned all public gatherings as a precaution to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Jamia Mosque in the capital, Nairobi, announced that it was stopping all congregational prayers.

The mosque's leadership said it was monitoring the situation and would advise faithfuls:

Shocking moment exhausted Dutch Health Minister COLLAPSES in Parliament due to 'fatigue from intense weeks' fighting coronavirus crisis

The Dutch health minister collapsed yesterday in parliament because of 'fatigue from intense weeks' of working against the coronavirus crisis.

Bruno Bruins, 56, fell behind the speaker's lectern while taking questions and was helped up by fellow ministers. He took a sip of water and was seen leaving the room unassisted.

'I was feeling faint from fatigue and intense weeks. I am feeling better now. I am going home now to rest this evening so I can return tomorrow to fight the corona crisis,' he said in a message on social media.

Bruins is the top government health official in the Netherlands, where the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus rose by 346 on Wednesday to 2,051, with 58 deaths, the country's National Institute for Health (RIVM) said.

The Dutch government on Sunday ordered the closing of all schools, bars, restaurants, sex clubs and cannabis cafes in a bid to fight the spread of the new coronavirus.

Queues quickly built up at 'coffee shops' where cannabis is sold after the announcement, which follows pressure on the government to follow the lead of other European countries.

'From tomorrow, March 16 until April 6, the coming three weeks, schools and day care centres will be closed except for those children whose parents are in vital jobs,' Education Minister Arie Slob said.

Couple caught having s.e.x in a car in Milan are arrested for breaching coronavirus lockdown

A couple caught having sex in a car were arrested for breaching coronavirus quarantine rules in Italy.

The 23-year-old Egyptian man and 40-year-old Tunisian woman were caught in the act by a police officer on the outskirts of Milan.

Quite apart from decency laws, the pair chose a particularly bad time for their roadside fling, with authorities on alert for breaches of the virus lockdown.

The pair were accused of ignoring a quarantine rule which bans two people from being in the front or back of a vehicle together, according to news agency ANSA.

It is not clear whether the couple will face further action, but authorities have been keeping a wary eye on all road vehicles in order to enforce a ban on travel.

Italians are only allowed outside to buy food, give or receive medical care, or travel to work if absolutely necessary.

Despite the ample opportunities for indoor entertainment, the couple were caught in the act on a road in Mecenate near Milan which has been heavily hit by the outbreak.

Elsewhere, a family who were relaxing on a lawn were ordered to move by police in San Donato Milanese near Milan today.

The region of Lombardy which includes Milan has had the largest number of cases in Italy and hospitals in the northern province are struggling to cope.
