It’s An Insult To Suggest Me As Abba Kyari’s Replacement - Isa Funtua

Alhaji Isa Funtua, a close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, has given reason he cannot replace the late Abba Kyari as the president’s Chief of Staff.

Funtua, while reacting to reports that he was likely a replacement for the Office of the Chief of Staff, said it is an insult to his personality.

Speaking to BBC Hausa, the elder statesman said he should be employing people and not struggling for government appointments.

The politician maintained that appointments like Chief of Staff should be for young people not his age mates, adding that Nigerians should stop making caricature of public offices.

He was quoted as saying, “I heard people mentioning my name to replace Abba Kyari but I take the story as an insult instead. I have once worked with the government in the 80s, worked with white men and also was once a Minister of the Federal republic. For someone to mention my name for that position is an insult especially for a man who served as a minister nearly 40 years ago and out of government.

“I should be employing people now, not trying to struggle for government appointments. At my level and age, people should first see if I am fit to serve and see if I am strong enough and if I am up-to-date with current realities of governance.

“Even if they approach the president with my name, he knows he cannot ask me to serve at this age. For God’s sake, you mean at my age, I should be waking up at 8am to go to work? Haba, I am way passed that lifestyle. It’s for people like you (referring to the BBC journalist) and other much younger persons. We should stop making caricatures of public offices simply because of the sake of getting appointments,” he said.

Meanwhile, a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Monday, listed Isa Funtua as a member of President Buhari’s “cabal”.

In his piece, Fani-Kayode hinted that there were powerful people around the president, ahead of Abba Kyari.

“Some say he was the leader of the cabal. This is a cabal with seasoned and skillful old war horses, ancient northern political veterans and warriors like Mamman Daura, Zangon Daura, Mahmoud Tukur, Ismaila Isa Funtua, Lawal Daura, Baba Gana Kingibe and many others.”

Tension In Lagos As Area Boys Confront 1MillionBoys

Armed youths, who protested against alleged attacks by hoodlums known as the One Million Boys, on Monday, threw residents of Mushin, Oworonshoki, Shomolu, Bariga and Isolo areas of Lagos State into panic.

The demonstrations in the areas were as a result of the incessant attacks launched by the hoodlums on residents during the lockdown occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

In a bid to stop the attacks by members of the group, landlords and youths have been depriving themselves of sleep at night to form vigilante groups and complement the efforts of security agents.

It was learnt that suspected members of the One Million Boys had planned to strike on Monday, but youths in the affected areas armed themselves to repel the impending attacks.

Footages trending on the social media showed hundreds of armed youths taking to the streets and moving in the directions of the planned attacks by the hoodlums.

In the Oworonshoki area, armed youths, in conjunction with security agents, mobilised to prevent the hoodlums from attacking the area.

A footnote attached to one of the footages, which was posted by @Oworotv on Instagram, read in part, “One Million Boys repelled by youths in Oworonshoki amidst the battle against COVID-19 in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. Notorious Street gang known as One Million Boys were in Oworonshoki today trying to cause mayhem.

“Youths in Oworonshoki, who have already been engaging in vigilante duties in the past few days, all came out en masse and chased the gang. Men of the Nigeria Police Force also assisted in repelling the attack.”

In the Mushin area of the state, footage also showed armed youths threatening to attack any apprehended member of the One Million Boys.

A resident of Olorunshogo, off the Agege Motor Road area of Mushin, Johnson Olamilekan, said when the youth got wind of an alleged attack by suspected members of the gang in the Ilupeju area of the state, they mobilised to forestall the invasion of their area.

A similar situation was recorded in the Bariga area of the state.

When contacted by The Punch, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had gone round to talk to residents to stop creating panic through their actions during the lockdown, adding that the command had mobilised policemen to protect residents in the affected areas.

6 Private Hospitals Secretly Treating Coronavirus In Lagos Exposed

Six private health facilities in Lagos that had been secretly attending to rich Coronavirus patients, have been revealed.

One of the private hospitals, First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Ikoyi, was where late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, was treated for the virus until his death was announced on Friday.

The other hospital doing same are;

St. Edwards Hospital, Ajah, Premier Specialist Hospital, Victoria Island, Vedic Lifecare Hospital, Lekki, County Hospital, Ogba, and St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos.

The involvement of these private hospitals in the treatment of Coronavirus cases was despite the insistence by Minister of Health in Nigeria, Osagie Ehanire, that they will never be given approval for such.

At a forum recently, Ehanire had said, “Treating of private patients is not allowed. It is risky. Coronavirus is one of the most easily transmitted diseases you can think of. So, it is not allowed to treat Coronavirus privately.”

Apart from Kyari, a medical doctor, Emeka Chugbo, was also killed by the virus after contracting it from a patient he was treating in a private hospital.

Already, the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association has warned doctors and medical practitioners against receiving and treating COVID-19 patients in their private facilities, stressing that such practice could put the lives of health workers in danger.

NMA, in statement signed by Saliu Oseni and Moronkola Ramon, Chairman and Secretary respectively, said there could be an explosion in the number of infections in the state and the country at large if private hospitals continued to treat Coronavirus patients.

All the named private hospitals are supposed to have been closed down by government, according to experts, but had been left to continue to operate because they served the interest of the elites and rich in the country.

No Ramadan lectures, mosque gatherings, Sultan warns

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, on Monday asked Muslims in the country to avoid congregational prayers during the coming Ramadan fast.

He asked the faithful to pray at homes during the period.

The Sultan, who spoke through the Secretary General of the JNI, Dr Khalid Abubakar-Aliyu, in a statement in Kaduna on Monday, also advised Muslims against going for this year’s lesser Hajj in the Holy land because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement read, “It should be made known that all Salawatun-nawafil (optional and non-obligatory prayers), including Taraweeh, are originally preferred to be observed at home, even though it is Mustahabb (desirable) to observe it in congregation.

“To sum it up, there will not be the annual Tafsir sessions and no congregational Taraweeh in mosques until when situation permits. We should therefore pray with our families at home and stay safe.

“This is a Ramadan with a difference as most people will be under lockdown. Hence, they will certainly be in dire need of assistance because of the economic realities and the attendant suffocating inflationary trends.”

He added, “Our spirit of generosity should be fully activated in higher proportion so as to ameliorate the sufferings of the poor in our midst by providing them with food and other necessities.

“Despite the challenges of physical and social distancing, Tafsir and other religious teachings could continue using various information technology platforms, such as Facebook, Skype, YouTube, Zoom, etc., to live stream preaching sessions. Reliable information and communication technology professionals could be consulted for proper guidance.”

The Sultan also called on Muslims to pray for the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world and in Nigeria, in particular.

Passenger coughs, dies at checkpoint in Osun/Oyo boundary

Police operatives and some medical personnel at Osun/Oyo border on Sunday evening reportedly intercepted a car, said to have conveyed a sick man, who eventually died while being checked.

The vehicle, it was learnt, was stopped at Odo Oba, Iwo, an entry point to Osun from Oyo State while attempting to enter Osun State.

The car was said to have left Ibadan for an undisclosed destination, when it ran into a police checkpoint which stopped the vehicle and demanded explanation.

While being interrogated, one of the occupants, believed to be sick, suddenly started coughing and died on the spot.

The chairman, Iwo Local Government, Raji Kamoru, who spoke to our correspondent, said policemen and health personnel stationed at the checkpoint were not convinced with the explanation of the occupants of the vehicle, when they stopped them.

He said when the team at the checkpoint told the occupants of the vehicle that they could not proceed, one of the occupants said to be sick suddenly started coughing and he died.

“They stopped the vehicle coming from Ibadan. One of the passengers started coughing and he died.

“The security men asked them some questions and they could not give a satisfactory explanation about where they were going. Immediately we were informed, myself and the DPO had to turn them back.

“In the first instance, when we told them to return to where they were coming from, they hid in the bush. But we found them and escorted them to the boundary and handed them over to policemen at Iyana Offa, Oyo State. They did not tell us where they were coming from and their destination,” Kamoru said.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that police personnel intercepted a vehicle carrying a corpse around Odo Oba area, Iwo.

Man admits cheating on girlfriend with 30 women - including when she was in labour

A man has admitted to cheating on his girlfriend with 30 women - including while she was in labour having his baby.

Coral Gibb, 23, has hit out at "love rat" Steven Lee, 34, who missed the birth of their second child as he had another woman in their bed.

"He ruined the happiest day of my life," said Coral, of Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Her suspicions were first aroused when her waters broke and she popped home to quickly pack a hospital bag.

Sheepish Steve appeared flustered at the top of the stairs and insisted she leave immediately.

It was only while on the way to hospital and having contractions that she realised why he'd wanted her out of the way - he had another woman in their bed.

She gave birth to their baby Bella and when he turned up an hour later, Coral confronted her boyfriend of five years - and he admitted he was having an affair.
"He had a cuddle with our baby but then I was so thirsty I asked him to get me a cold drink," Coral said.

"While he was gone I scrolled through his phone as I was so suspicious - and found countless emails between him and another woman. It was obvious what was going on.

"When he came back I went berserk demanding to know what's been going on and he admitted he'd slept with another woman and said he was sorry.

"It was too late - I couldn't trust him."

She added: "He was cheating on me while I was in labour so what else would he do?

"It was unforgivable and I made the right decision because later he admitted he'd slept with around 30 people while we were together.

"I don't know how he found the time but that was it - he moved out the next day when I came home from hospital with our baby girl.

"He's a nightmare - a true love rat. He kept apologising and begged me back but I would never go back to someone who could do that."

Coral began to suspect something was amiss when Steve, who she'd met in a nightclub at the age of 17, began vanishing on nights out.

"He was always so attentive when we first got together and we had a great life going out and partying all the time," she explained.

"But it wasn't long before I began feeling unwell and discovered I was pregnant. I was worried about what Steve would say as it was so soon, but he was thrilled."

Coral had a baby boy, Buddy, but needed four blood transfusions as her placenta broke away during the birth causing her to haemorrhage.

"When I came round, Steve was holding our baby and looked terrified. He said he'd thought I was going to die and told me how much he loved me. I was so happy."

Back home Steve, a factory worker, did everything for Coral and Buddy while she recovered, but as soon as she was better he began going out with friends.

"I loved being a mum and looking after Buddy, but Steve wanted to be out all the time, drinking and having a laugh with his mates," Coral said.

"I think he thought I was a little boring now I'd had a baby. He'd ask me to join him but I just wanted to stay home with Buddy."

The couple were drifting apart but then Coral discovered she was pregnant again.

"I was thrilled," she said "Buddy was around 18 months and I began sorting through his things to see what we could use for the new baby.

Coral is now single but sees Steve every day when he comes to visit the kids.

"He's a great dad," she said "But he's a terrible boyfriend. I don't want to share my man with another woman - let alone 30 of them!"

Steve said: "I've slept with around 30 women - it happened when I was going out with my friends. I didn't think about it at the time but when Coral found out it was bad.

"I do regret it - it's quite disgusting isn't it? We split up after five years when Bella was born. Coral was very upset but we are friends now because of the kids. I have a girlfriend now and have learnt my lesson - I would never act like that now."

Japan is offering s.e.x workers financial aid

Mika is worried. As a s.e.x worker in Japan, she used to see three or four clients a day — then the coronavirus pandemic hit. Now, with people staying home and avoiding close contact, she’s out of clients and out of money.

With no savings or other sources of income, Mika says she is living off borrowed money. She has tried to find other jobs, but nobody’s hiring in the middle of an economic crisis. At this rate, she might not be able to pay rent or afford basic necessities, let alone pay off the debt she has recently taken on.

“I’m worried if I will have a place to live or if I can find a job to get money to live,” she said, using a pseudonym to protect her privacy. “I worry about (my health) of course, but now I worry more about how to survive.”

S.e.x workers across Japan have been hit hard by closures and restrictions due to the pandemic. The entire country is under a state of emergency, with many businesses ordered to shutter and people advised not to go out.

There are now at least 10,797 cases nationwide and 236 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

To soften the economic blow, the central government has launched a massive stimulus package worth 108 trillion Japanese yen (about $989 billion). After some controversy, s.e.x workers are eligible to apply for aid, under certain conditions — a move some activists have hailed as a sign of progress for an industry that has long suffered social stigma.

But for many s.e.x workers, the package offers little reassurance — and its rules for eligibility seem opaque and restrictive. Some aren’t sure how to apply for benefits without effectively outing themselves.

“(The government) haven’t clearly said they will help everybody,” Mika said. “There are many people unable to eat and survive without working.”

Prostitution, or the exchange of sexual intercourse for money, is criminalized in Japan — but other types of sex work are legal. The sex industry in Japan generatesan estimated $24 billion a year, according to Havocscope, a research organization on the global black market.

Mika works in the legally permitted “delivery health” industry, a euphemism for escort services that stop short of intercourse. Another popular form of legal s.e.x work is “fashion health,” which offersservices like oral s.e.x in massage parlors.

When the Japanese government started putting together the relief package, it excluded those legally in the adult entertainment and s.e.x industries — drawing criticism from activists and opposition members, who called the exclusion “occupational discrimination.”

Cardi B's husband Offset 'begs' ex Shya L'amour for s.e.x in leaked messages

Cardi B's relationship with her husband's ex has grown much worse as risky private messages have been leaked online.

The much-loved artist, 27, married her long-term love, rapper Offset in late 2017, but their relationship appears to have hit many highs and lows during that time with several allegations claiming Cardi's husband has been in constant touch with his ex Shya L’amour.

The mother of Offset’s oldest daughter, Kalea, has now leaked alleged messages from the rapper who also shares 18-month-old daughter Kulture with Cardi B.

Shya has previously stated that the rapper only provided ‘limited support’ since their daughter was born.

New allegations claim that Offset stopped financial support completely after Shya refused to have s.e.x with her ex at his request.

The angry mother took to social media to share a screenshot of a text conversation between the pair, which claims that Offset had begged his baby mother for s.e.x "one last time" while he was  married to Cardi B.

In screenshots obtained by ItsOnsite!, Shya shared alleged texts from Offset who asks her repeatedly where she is after requesting to have s.e.x with her one last time.

What makes the entire situation so much worse is the fact that the messages are dated June 2018.

This is just a number of months after the rapper tied the knot with Cardi B, and during this time, the 27-year-old was also pregnant with their baby Kulture.

Taking to Instagram, Shya wrote: "I was going to refrain from posting but him and his hoe too disrespectful after I’ve been trying to be cordial and empathetic.

"I found out the same time the world did that they was married and he been cut off since then!!!
"Stop f***ing playing with my name!!".

It wasn't long before fans rushed to share their thoughts on the drama, with many insisting that Offset can't have his cake and eat it.

"Wow. This dude has seriously just been slammed. He can't have his cake and eat it!" shared one enthralled follower.

While another insisted: "Cardi B is so much better than this trash. She needs to leave him once and for all".

"This is just hideous. Poor Cardi B, she must have been pregnant with Kulture through all of that. Just sickening" a third voiced.

While a fourth simply wrote: "Disgusting".

CNN anchor, Richard Quest, tests positive for Coronavirus

Richard Quest, longtime CNN contributor and host of the network's show "Quest Means Business," announced on air that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a clip published Monday, Quest, 58, opened up about his condition and getting tested over the weekend.

"Yep, I've got a positive diagnosis for COVID-19," he said. "I am grateful and thankful that I don't seem to have any of the horrific symptoms of the others. I just have a nasty cough, which, thankfully tonight because of our excellent technical staff, you haven't heard me too much spluttering away."

Quest added that he does not have "any of the awful breathlessness or fatigue" described by others with the virus.

"I'm grateful of course to the enormous support given and all the great medical staff that are helping me get over this," he continued.

Though he understands many viewers may want him to "take it easy," Quest said he will continue his work at CNN until "it all gets too much."

"I'm not a fool, nor am I a hero, but at the moment I feel fine. I feel good, and there are important things that you and I need to talk about every night," he said. "Which is why, as long as I can, and I don't see why not, you and I will still get together at this time and have a good chat about the economic side of what's going on."
