I Helped E-Money Kidnap Rich People But He Left Me Poor – Suspect

A suspect, Ifeanyi Asiegbuelam, has narrated how he helped the late billionaire kidnapper, Collins Ezenwa, popularly known as E-money, to kidnap many rich people from the South-East, especially in Imo and Abia states.

However, Asiegbuelam, 32, lamented that despite aiding Ezenwa to perpetrate the crimes, he did not make him rich.

Ezenwa, a dismissed police corporal, was killed in January 2018 during a gun duel with policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command when he attempted to kidnap a South-African-based Nigerian businessman in Owerri.

More than 13 buildings including a hotel, belonging to the late kidnapper were reportedly traced by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team to Abia, Imo and Enugu states, while seven cars, two SUVs, one Hilux truck, a commercial bus, two tipper-lorries and a trailer belonging to him were also recovered from several locations within the South-East.

Asiegbuelam, who was arrested recently by policemen in Cross Rivers State and handed over to IRT operatives, claimed that he met E-money, who was killed alongside two other gang members, five years before he joined the Nigeria Police Force.

He said they were both motorcycle operators in Owerri before E-money joined the police.
Speaking to City Round during the week, Asiegbuelam, a primary school dropout from Atah town, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, said he lost his father while he was young and later had to live with his uncle in the North.

After some years, the suspect said he returned to Owerri to become a commercial motorcyclist.

He said, “Few years into the trade, I met E-money in Owerri and he was also an okada rider at the time. E-money and I became very close friends.

“We did the job for five years before he joined the police. He asked me to join him but I told him I had no school certificate. He went ahead to join the police and started driving police vehicles around Owerri.”

Asiegbuelam said after a while, he stopped seeing E-money in town and that later in 2017, he heard that E-money had travelled out of the country.

He said, “But a few weeks later in the same year, he showed up in my house in a dark-tinted Toyota Prado SUV, and there he invited me to join his kidnapping enterprise. On the first operation I went with him, we drove to Okigwe, where we kidnapped a man in his car.

“We accosted the vehicle and dragged the man out of the vehicle and took him into our own vehicle; then we zoomed off. E-money then asked me to blindfold the victim and when we got close to my town, E-money asked to come down from his SUV and he gave me N50,000. I didn’t question him and he drove the man away. I didn’t know where he took the man to, number of days the man spent with him, how he negotiated and collected his ransom.”

The suspect said he escaped to a bush on the day E-money was killed by the police, adding that he stayed in Owerri for two months after the incident.

He said, “Then I got a call from Ugo, who kept one of E-money’s rifles and we formed a new gang. But on our first operation, we had trouble. Some policemen accosted us and a shootout ensued. Ugo’s friend was killed. Ugo escaped but Chimobi and I were arrested. Chimobi sustained a bullet wound in the process and we were kept in an open-cell in handcuffs. I wouldn’t know how Chimobi got the keys to our handcuffs and we escaped again from police custody.

“I ran to Port Harcourt and stayed there for more than one year; then I moved to Calabar when I felt the police were closing in on me in Port Harcourt. I lived in Calabar for seven months with a friend who I met in Port Harcourt and we worked on a farm. I was arrested in my friend’s house and taken to Owerri before I was brought back to Lagos and handed over to the IRT. It was after my last arrest that I realised that E-money made so much money from our business and left me a poor man begging for money.”

Many who test positive for covid-19 in Lagos on the run- Lagos Health Commissioner

The Lagos State Government has expressed concern over the increasing number of runaway patients who tested positive for Covid-19 in the state, describing it as “disturbing.”

Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, made the remark on Friday, during a media briefing on the update of Covid-19 situation in the state, held in Alausa, Ikeja.

Responding to questions on discrepancy over bed capacity and the number of cases, Abayomi said:

“Speaking on the discrepancy in the number of active cases and the amount of occupancy of our isolation facilities, two factors are responsible.

“One, we just opened Gbagada General Hospital Isolation Facility and yet to admit most of the patients and as soon as we fill-up the Gbagada facility our occupancy capacity will increase from 45 per cent to about 80 per cent.

“Other factor, is a situation we (Lagos government/officials) are experiencing. When we test people, sometimes we find put very difficult to locate them thereafter.

“The ambulances will go into communities and people will flee their homes, thereby, making it difficult for us to find them.

“They shut their doors and switched off their phones. I think this is because people are afraid to come to Isolation centres. And we don’t have the type of leverage yo start hunting people down.

“We are relying on community cooperation to work with. Because when you are tested positive we expect you to cooperate with us and be accessible to us in your own interest so that we can access if you are mild or Asymptomatic. If you are we discharge you in few days.

“And if you are moderate or severe, at least you have the opportunity to give you the treatment that will stop you from getting into a critical state. Our isolation centres are very comfortable. We have made a lot of improvement since the Ebola outbreak.

“And from the testimonies of those who have been to our facilities will bear us witness. “There is nothing to be afraid of because our staff are highly professional. I have implicit confidence in their abilities.

“Members of the executive and senior people in government have been admitted into those facilities. If I test positive, I will go to one of those facilities.”

“It is better to come out for treatment than hiding yourself. We don’t want to see a high record of fatalities in our beloved Lagos State. If you are tested positive to COVID-19, please don’t run away from our authorities. Its not a death sentence. You can call our emergency line on 08000corona, 08000267662 for help and assistance.”

Blogger accuses New York police of discrimination in social distancing enforcement between blacks and whites

NYPD officers have been accused of discrimination, after heavily enforcing social distancing rules in parks in the New York's poorer Bronx area, while crowds gathered unchallenged in the wealthier Manhattan borough.

Officers were seen enforcing coronavirus restrictions during this weekend's warmer weather but appeared to take a less aggressive approach in Manhattan.

Blogger Ed García Conde couldn't help notice the difference after posting an image of cops in a van patrolling St. Mary's Park in the South Bronx on Saturday, making sure people were social distancing as required.

He pointed out that the enforcement worked in keeping the normally crowded park more on the empty side, despite the warm weather.

But Conde contrasted the scene with the crowds seen in Christopher St. pier in Manhattan's West Village the same day.

Photos from the pier, taken by Conde, showed it was packed with sunbathers close to each other.

Scenes taken show a similar crowd and an officer calmly passing out face masks, reports Yahoo News.

'I guess in the police force's eyes, people of color need to be policed,' Conde said in an interview with Yahoo News. 'We need to be told what to do.'

The blogger's observations reveal the stark contrast in enforcement between New Yorkers in relatively affluent, predominantly white communities in the city and neighborhoods in the Bronx that are predominantly Latino and black.

'To me it was very disturbing,' Conde said.

'It's glaring. Just the audacity, the privilege that these people were exhibiting on the pier when almost 20,000 people have died in New York City from this alone. We are the epicenter. But then it doesn't surprise me because, you know, between Manhattan and the Bronx, we know this is a tale of two cities.'

Ranger at South African park narrowly escapes as hungry lions surround his tent

A safari ranger had a lucky escape when the tent he was camping in was surrounded by a pride of hungry lions - who decided they fancied his boots for breakfast.

Norman Chauke, 28, from Makuleke Limpopo, South Africa, works as a tracking instructor at an eco-training reserve - and was left stunned when the lions decided they wanted to chew on the boots he'd left outside the tent.

He managed to capture the demise of his footwear on camera.

He said: 'I was on duty at the camp when about four lions came right in front of the tent I was using. I couldn't believe it when one lioness ran off with my shoe. I never got the shoe back meaning it must have been a great toy to have.

'At first I thought about my valuable boot and how much I still loved it, however seeing a gorgeous little lioness with my boots in its mouth made me realise how blessed I am to be in such an environment.

'It made me realise how lucky I was to wake up every morning and call the bush my office - I mean you always walk around the bush with enthusiasm and happiness because you never know what to see when you will see around the corner. '

See pictures of luxury submarine designed to take tourists deep into the ocean

An incredible submarine is all set to give tourists a sea view like no other.

The Triton Deepview 24 can take 24 passengers to depths of up to 100m (328ft) and afford them magnificent views thanks to vast panoramic windows – and all from the comfort of a 15.4m (50.5ft) long air-conditioned interior big enough to stand up in.

Anyone feeling nervous about stepping on board should note the company that has built it – Triton Submarines. It knows a thing or two about underwater vessels, having manufactured the Limiting Factor submersible that last year made a record-breaking dive to the deepest point in the planet’s oceans, Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench – 10,927m (35,853ft) beneath the surface.

Florida-based Triton said in a statement that DeepView 24 is ‘the most significant commercial tourism submersible to be brought to market in the past two decades’.

The vessel, it explained, is virtually silent, entirely non-polluting and is easy to board and disembark even for passengers with reduced mobility – thanks to a generous access hatch.

It continued: ‘DeepView 24 was developed in response to the rise in demand from travellers and tourists alike for adventure and experience-based holidays. This “sub-sea tourism” has grown exponentially as interest in our oceans has developed, driven in part by the popularity of internationally recognised programs such as Blue Planet II.

‘Today, an experience within the optically perfect hull of the Triton DeepView 24 will create an entirely new generation of stewards for our oceans.’

The vessel has been commissioned by hospitality firm Vinpearl to provide guest experiences on Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

The vessel was assembled at Triton’s manufacturing facility in Barcelona, where it successfully passed sea trials in March. It’s due to operate ticketed dives for resort guests in December.

Bruce Jones, Co-Founder and CEO of Triton Submarines, said: ‘The Triton DeepView 24 with its panoramic view represents a quantum leap forward in submarine technology, providing a vastly improved, fully-immersive guest experience.

‘Of the near 60 tourist subs that have operated in the past 34 years, the DeepView 24 is competitively superior in all respects.

‘The variation in size, with models that will seat from six to 66 passengers means there is a sub suitable for a wide range of operators in different locations. And a DeepView experience is terrific for encouraging guests to promote environmental stewardship after directly experiencing the seafloor environment..

Horror in Nasarawa as woman poisons husband, chops off his p.e.n.i.s for denying her s.e.x but giving it to her best friend

An eight-year-old marriage has ended on a tragic note in Zumbagwe, a remote community in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. 33 year-old Janet Ekpe poisoned her husband for allegedly dating her best friend and watched him die slowly and painfully.

Besides allegedly dating her best friend, Janet also accused her husband, Sunday Ekpe, of starving her of s.e.x while satisfying her friend with same.

Janet recalled that she had got used to having marathon s.e.x with Ekpe since they got married only for him to slow down after her second child and later withdrew completely.

She said she grew tired of her husband giving excuses night after night as to why he was no longer able to deliver in bed and even telling her on occasions to fantasize about the good old times in order to satisfy her s.e.x.ual urge.

Matters came to a head when Janet realised that her husband had fallen in love with her best friend who happened to be a widow. She came to the conclusion that her husband no longer had time for her because his attention had shifted to her friend.

She reasoned that the best way to deal with the situation was to terminate Ekpe’s life so that she would live a life devoid of psychological trauma. Hence she did not only kill Ekpe, she also ensured that she chopped off his manhood, perhaps to forestall the possibility of her randy husband engaging another woman in an affair in the world beyond!

‘Why I killed him, chopped off his manhood’

In her confessional statement, Janet said she did not know that her late husband was dating her best friend until about three years ago.

She said: “We were married for eight years with two children. It was three years ago I discovered that my husband had fallen in love with my best friend, a widow, and had been dating her.

“Since then, he stopped sleeping with me; he began to  starve me s.e.x.ually while satisfying my best friend.

“When we got married eight years ago, s.e.x seemed to be the only thing on my husband’s mind. He was always in the mood.

“We would make love three or four times before morning, and when he woke up, he would be ready to continue.

“There were days he skipped work and we would spend the whole day making love.

“We had s.e.x in the bathroom, in the kitchen and anywhere it caught our fancy in the house.

“I became used to constant s.e.x through him and also became the envy of my close friends, including my best friend who he later fell in love with.

“Whenever we shared stories of our exploits in bed, my friends felt I had the best man and jokingly begged me to allow them to have my husband just for a day because their husbands could not satisfy them in bed.

“But shortly after we had our two kids, I began to notice his disinterest in s.e.x with me and his performance level began to drop.

“While we were having s.e.x on a regular basis before, it came down to two times in a week and later became so bad that we could stay for three or four months without making love.

“Initially, I was not bothered because I felt that he would come around it after the babies were weaned. But I was wrong. He began to starve me of s.e.x for months on end.

“It got to the point that I would be begging him to sleep with me but he would rebuff my requests.

“At times, he would tell me I should relive the moments we had s.e.x every day and wallow in that fantasy.

“When I pestered him further, he told me he was no more interested in s.e.x as he had had enough to last him a lifetime.

“He even told me that s3x is not food and that if I felt so s3x starved, I should get a man to satisfy me.

“I reported the matter to our church and the pastor summoned him, but he could not convince our pastor.

“I reported the matter to his parents in the village and some of his relations around, but he ignored their invitation.

The final straw

“Within this period, my husband started keeping late night, which was very unusual of him.

“Unknown to me, my best friend, Hellen, who is a widow, started keeping distance with me, while some of my friends started hinting that she and my husband were dating.

“I watched the way they acted and how happy he always seemed in her presence.

“I monitored them closely and caught them five times in a drinking joint in new Nyanyan.

“When I confronted him about it, he said I was being silly; so I decided to believe the whole story.

“The worst was the day I saw a text message from Hellen in my husband’s phone, thanking him for giving him the best sexual satisfaction ever in her life the previous day.

“I was devastated. I felt sick and angry.

“I was hurt that my own husband could do this to me.

“I went back to our pastor but my husband turned down the pastor’s invitation and even stopped attending church.

“At this point, he stopped coming back home most times and resorted to sleeping in hotels with Hellen.

“I felt like a single mum and it upset me. I confronted Hellen and told her she was hurting me and that their relationship was getting stronger while they were not taking my feelings into consideration.

“I could not stand the thought of them being so close.

“I used to love and trust my husband but he turned me into something I never knew I could become: a murderer. I killed him. I poisoned him and watched him die in our bedroom, painfully.

“I mixed a deadly, colourless, tasteless and odourless substance in his meal and drinking water which destroyed his intestines immediately.

“He cried and struggled uncontrollably after taking the meal. He gave up after an hour and I used a sharp blade and knife to chop off his p.e.n.i.s, place it on his chest as evidence of what killed him.

“If your p.e.n.i.s is the one that is giving you the audacity to have feelings for my best friend and refusing to listen to the advice of your parents and even your pastor, it is better to cut it off.

“Mr Sunday (Ekpe), a cheating, filthy, lying bastard, ought to die for me to live. I deserve to live because I am human and have blood flowing in my veins.

“These foolish men, you give them everything, yet they choose to fool around and play with your intelligence.

“I had monitored him closely and tolerated him for long and his end has come.”

Ekpe lived dangerously, says uncle

Mr Adakole Onoja, an uncle of Ekpe, told The Nation correspondent that the deceased man was not Godly in his affairs with Hellen.

He said: “When his wife reported the matter to me, I invited him to my house and told him the implications of his actions.

“You cannot completely starve your young wife of s.e.x and resort to dating her best friend.

“Many people, including his parents in the village, his pastor and his close friends, interfered in the issue but he turned a deaf ear to them.

“Maybe that was how he was destined to end his life.

“His wife’s action may not be right, but she is a human being too.”

Florence Pugh hits back at critics who pick on the age gap between her and her 45-year old comedian boyfriend

The actress, 24, and the comedian, 45, have been dating for a year, with fans feeling the need to remark on their 21-year age gap.

Speaking to The June issue of ELLE UK, the Black Widow starlet slammed her haters.

‘I have the right to hang out and be with and go out with anyone I want to,' she asserted. 'I’ve always found this part of what people do really bizarre.

'I’m an actor because I like acting and I don’t mind people watching my stuff, but people have no right to educate me on my private life.

‘I know that part of being in the spotlight is that people might invade your privacy and have opinions on it, but it’s bizarre that normal folk are allowed to display such hate and opinions on a part of my life that I’m not putting out there.

'It’s a strange side of fame that you’re allowed to be torn apart by thousands of people even though you didn’t put that piece of you out there.

'My point to all this is that isn’t it odd that a stranger can totally tear apart someone’s relationship and it’s allowed?’

Italy to grant 600,000 migrants the right to stay in the country because they provide essential services

Italy will give 600,000 illegal migrants the right to stay in the country after the government said they proved essential by caring for the elderly and picking crops during the coronavirus crisis.

Unregistered migrants have worked in fields across the country to protect food supplies, all whilst risking being arrested if caught by police.

'The food on our table comes from these fields. Now we must hand over those rights which have been denied to those who work in them,' Peppe Provenzano, minister for the south of Italy, said.

The permits - which won't give migrants the right to vote - will be valid for six months and will be renewable. They were proposed by the agricultural minister Teresa Bellanova.

The measure could be inserted into a temporary government decree with immediate effect but will be voted on in parliament after 60 days, according to The Times.

Ms Bellanova said that forcing migrants to hide could mean outbreaks of the disease go unchecked.

For example one shanty town near Foggia is home to 3,000 farm pickers - but there's no social distancing, hand sanitiser or masks.

The Pope also seemed to back the message when he condemned the 'harsh exploitation' of migrant farm workers in Italy.

He said: 'May the crisis give us the opportunity to make the dignity of the person and of work the centre of our concern.'

There are also practical advantages to the new measure as 100,000 Romanian pickers who usually travel to Italy every year cannot fly over due to coronavirus travel bans.

'Italy needs the Indians, Pakistanis and Africans who are here now to fill that gap, and making them legal helps that,' a government source told The Times.

The measure would also legalise around 100,000 illegal migrants who work as home carers. Many lost their jobs during lockdown and their permits are dependent on employment.

Young female stalker sends severed pig's head to her victim, bombards him with takeaway meals at home and his office

An alleged stalker sent a man a severed pig's head and bombarded him with takeaways, a court heard.

Tia Mariah McBean, 22 was asked to leave Oralton Robinson, 35 and his girlfriend alone but continued in her harassment campaign, Bromley Magistrates' Court heard.

PC Jane Cullen, on behalf of the Met Police, applied for a stalking protection order against McBean but a judge adjourned and put off making a decision until next month.

The application states McBean 'has carried out acts associated with stalking namely trying to make contact with Oralton Robinson via phone calls and sending takeaways to his place of work and home address.

'She has now sent a severed pig's head to him at his work place. She has been asked by Robinson to stop going to his address and stop calling him and his partner, and to stop sending takeaways to him, but she continues with her behaviour.'

McBean, appeared in the well of Bromley Magistrates' Court, wearing a black jumpsuit and heels with chandelier earrings, made her own application for a restraining order against Robinson.

She claimed Robinson had threatened to post an 'obscene video' of them together and been physically violent towards her.

But her application for a restraining order was rejected due to a lack of evidence and a non-molestation order which is already in force protecting her against unwanted contact from Robinson.

McBean was accused of sending an ex-boyfriend a cursed voodoo doll in 2017.

Then aged 19, she allegedly wrote intimidating letters to Adrian Ranglin before delivering the effigy to him in February 2017.

McBean was charged with sending an article with intent conveying a threatening message but the Crown Prosecution Service later dropped the case against her.

Emma Lewis, for McBean, said the latest stalking protection order - relating to eight alleged victims - would be 'onerous.'

Ms Lewis said: 'It is an application to adjourn we have received the bundle from police this is a very voluminous application its in fact protecting eight persons.

'The requirements are I would suggest on first sight very onerous.

'It will be a contested application especially in relation to the requirements which force her to do something. There is already a restraining order in place.

'There are restraining orders in place and any contact would mean a breach of those in any event.

'The police have got powers in relation to the restraining order.'

Addressing the judge directly, McBean, from New Cross, southeast London, said: 'I would like Oralton Robertson to be prohibited form contacting me directly or indirectly and from entering the street where I live.

'Also it might be a push but to prohibit him from entering New Cross as he has no reason to be there.

'He has subjected me to a lot of harassment and abuse, physical violence, he constantly harassed me, constantly called me up until last week threatening to post an obscene video of us and it is having a detrimental effect on my mental health now.

'I can't cope with it any more and I feel that if more conditions are not imposed on him he is going to continue doing what he's doing.'

Asked whether she had any evidence, McBean replied: 'It's on my phone but I actually left my phone at home today.'

District Judge Sarah Turnock rejected McBean's application and said: 'The test I need to apply for a restraining order is whether it's necessary to protect you from harm.

'Firstly there isn't actually any evidence here at the moment that shows him contacting you. That can be resolved by you bringing your phone in.

'At the moment because you have a non-molestation order in place against him which has exactly the same conditions in place you're seeking for the restraining order and a breach carries the exact same criminal offence, there isn't any necessity because you have the protection you need from the non-molestation order.

'You can make your application again and bring your phone, emails and hard copies and any reports you've made to the police and that's when to make your application because at the moment your application just isn't necessary.

'I'm rejecting the application for today and the non-molestation order is in place until April 2021.'

The hearing was adjourned until 1 June at Bromley Magistrates' Court.

Woman killed by alligator while doing homeowner's nails

A woman was dragged underwater and drowned by an alligator after she waded into a pond to touch it. Cynthia Covert was said to be calm as the animal gripped on to her body.

According to The Mirror, She told those trying to pull her out “I guess I won’t be doing this again”, seconds before the alligator started to begin a death roll.

The animal pulled her under the waist-deep water on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, US.

About 10 to 15 minutes later her dead body floated to the surface, but as emergency crews who had since arrived went to her aid, they realised the alligator still had hold of her leg.

A few moments later the animal resurfaced again and was shot in the head, killing it and releasing Covert’s body, which was laterrecovered.

Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten said the 57-year-old died on Friday and listed her cause of death as drowning,

Kiawah Island Mayor Craig Weaver called the incident a “horrible tragedy” which was entirely preventable.

This was not a random act by an alligator to aggressively attack a person in an unprovoked situation.

A police report said Covert had arrived at her friend’s home near the pond to have her nails done. The friend said Covert had become fascinated by the alligator after spotting it from her porch and began to take photos of it.

A few moments later, as the friend was tidying up, she noticed the woman had gone down to the water and started to wade out. The friend screamed out, telling Covert that she had seen the alligator eat a deer in recent days.

But Covert seemed unconcerned adding: “I don’t look like a deer.” It was then she was grabbed by the animal.

Mike Tyson snubs Joshua, names top five boxers

Mike Tyson named Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder in his top five favourite current boxers but didn’t include two-time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua.

Fury, who recently claimed the WBC heavyweight title in a rematch with Wilder, has always earned the respect from Tyson since his comeback in 2018 and the former American heavyweight said he ‘respects’ the Gypsy King. However, he did not mention Fury’s next potential opponent and rival heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua when listing his favourite current fighters.

“I respect Tyson Fury, I respect Deontay Wilder, I respect all of those guys,’ Tyson explained on his own podcast, Hotboxin’.

“Andy Ruiz also, this guy named (Vasyl) Lomachenko – he’s a f****** animal, man. He’s a master, it’s like he’s dancing.

“There’s also Gervonta Davis, there are quite a few guys that are good fighters.”

Tyson went on to explain that boxing has become a very ‘political’ sport and complained that the promoters are not allowing the best to enter the ring against each other and give the fans the bouts they want to see.

He added: ‘The situation is whether they will fight each other. Promoters are not allowing them to fight each other. I’d love to see them fight each other but the promoters don’t want to do it.’

“It (boxing) is very political now. That’s why I think in the next couple months or so you’re going to find that there are some new players in the game and it’s going to get really serious.’

Tyson is preparing for a sensational return to the ring at 53 years old after he mentioned he would like to make a comeback for charity.

He was recently challenged to a fight by John Fury, father of Tyson, and has also been offered about against rugby legend Sonny Bill Williams in Australia.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! The Delta police station with no single firearm to battle crime

For one year, seven months running, the Divisional Police Station, Aboh, supposed to provide security for coastal communities in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State, scandalously, has no arms and ammunition in its armory for police officers deployed to the division to fight crime.

The Burutu Police Division in Burutu Local Government Area also has scanty arms, about three AK-47 rifles, a pistol and 22 policemen to serve over 74 riverine communities.

Suspected militants and sea pirates allegedly plundered Aboh Police Station in September 2018, killing two police officers and carting away five AK-47 rifles and other vigilante firearms at the police station, but since then, the state Commissioner of Police has not deemed it expedient to replace the pilfered weapons.

To avoid further disgrace of the weaponless policemen, local vigilante and anti-cult groups have been synergizing with them in protecting the station and handling some security breaches in the division.

Findings by Saturday Vanguard show that Delta State Police Command has had four Commissioners of Police since the incident. Muhammad Mustafa handed over in December 2018 to Anthony Ogbizi. Adeleke Yinka took over from Ogbizi in February 2019, but about 10 months after, December 2019, Hafiz Inuwa, took charge. He has been in control for more than four months.

Vanguard investigations show that residents of peaceful people of Aboh and surrounding coastal communities have been living at the mercy of bandits since then. Some hoodlums escape from Rivers state to take refuge in Aboh knowing that the police on ground were weaponless.

What baffled informed citizens of the area is the shoddy manner police detectives handled investigations into the theft of their own weapons, apprehending mainly innocent persons, who they tormented, squeezed money from and later released, while the real criminals they should have tracked down with intelligence information were never arrested till date.

An Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACP, who confirmed the development and asked our reporter not to quote him, said: “It is an embarrassment.”

It was learned that Aboh Police Station serves almost half of Ndokwa East local government area, but there is another police division, Ashaka, which serves the other section of the area.

In Burutua, policemen are ‘boys scouts’, they have no arms to operate – Stainless, Buruta CDC chair

Community Development Committee, CDC, chair, Burutu community, Mr. Pondy Ebipadeowei Stainless, hinted Saturday Vanguard: “Burutu community, headquarters of Burutu local government area, has a newly-created Police Area Command and Police Divisional office.

”Early, this year, I attended a South-South Security Summit in Asaba, where the Inspector General of Police, IGP, governors and commissioners were also in attendance. In that meeting, I told the IGP about the sorry state of the police in Burutu local government area, who expressed surprise and was jotting down points.

”The fact remains that there is no manpower, no arms and officers are not mobile because there are no patrol boats to police the riverine council area. They recently deployed 12 additional police officers to complement the existing 12 officers making it up to 24 to police over 74 communities in the council area. The additional 12 officers maybe as a result of my appeal at the Asaba summit.

”Again, in the Burutu police division, there are about three rifles and a pistol. In fact, the police in Burutu local government area are more or less Boy Scouts,” he said.

Aboh police has no guns as we speak – Hon Imegwu, ex-Speaker

Former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and respected leader in Aboh, Rt. Hon Olisa Imegwu, who is familiar with the incident, told Saturday Vanguard unequivocally: “The Divisional Police Station at Aboh, headquarters of Ndokwa East local government area does not have arms and ammunition as we speak. Sometime in 2018, some criminals attacked the police station and stole their arms, I think they killed two policemen when they broke into the police station. The police authorities have not replaced the stolen arms till date.”

Hon Imegwu, who spoke in Asaba, asserted: “The rented apartment they are currently using as a temporal police station in Aboh was rented from me. We were in a speedboat going to Ashaka when a young man, who also boarded with us made a strange request to the boat driver. He wanted him to stop at a point on the river to enable him pick up a luggage. The request was abnormal because whenever a boat is loaded, the driver does not normally stop on the way to pick any luggage.”

“The driver’s reaction and that of all of us in the boat was that of shock, but the driver all the same granted the request of the passenger, who I couldn’t simply identify. Actually, at a certain point during the journey, he asked the driver to stop for him to pick the said luggage, we were waiting in the boat when the driver saw somebody carrying a bag, which he immediately suspected was containing guns and he screamed he does not ferry and would not transport guns.

“The young man, who owns the guns disembarked at that point and it was after that I got to know that the Aboh Police Division was raided the previous night. As soon as I got to where there was network, I called the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, he said he was no longer in Aboh, that he had been transferred to another station, I think he said Aladja Police Division..

Police officer who killed my final year son still walks freely — distraught father cries

A retired police officer, Andy Samuel Ugwu, whose 27-year-old son, Augustine Ugwu, was allegedly shot by police at Nsukka, Enugu State has said that the chief suspect who masterminded the killing of his son was still moving freely.

The distraught father of four also said that he was yet to see the remains of his son two weeks after he was allegedly murdered by the police in Nsukka Division.

He further alleged that the suspect had not been detained because he was under the cover of police authorities at the headquarters in Enugu.

-Missing corpse

He said, “I am still going through untold hardship because I have not seen the corpse of my son. I was reliably informed that some police officers are fond of killing people extra-judicially in the University town since the present team was posted to the area. He is still moving freely today to the chagrin of angry residents of the town.”

In tears he continued: “If a suspect was caught and killed without trial, what is then the relevance of the court of law? Even Evans that committed high profile crimes in this country is still being tried..

“The people who arrested my son were illegally constituted by Nsukka Local Government chairman, Patrick Omeje. This is the first time I am hearing of civilian anti-cultism in this country.

E-Money: Forfeited N100m recovered from notorious kidnapper’s wife disappears from bank

Shocking revelations emerged, over the week, that the sum of N100 million found in the bank account of the wife of late billionaire kidnapper, Collins Ezenwa, popularly known as E-money, which was suspected to be proceed of crime and was ordered to be seized and forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria, by the Federal High Court, Owerri, Imo state has disappeared.

The account which has a net balance of N105million at the time it was confiscated and a lien placed on it currently has a balance of N6,800 in it.

At present it was learned that detectives at the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, were working to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the huge sum from the bank and arrest the culprits

Recall that 13 buildings, located around choice areas within Enugu, Abia and Imo states, including a hotel valued at about N220million in Enugu State, were discovered to have been purchased by the late billionaire kidnapper within the space of two years. He was also said to have bought 13 expensive vehicles including tippers and trailer trucks, while the sum of N100million was found in a bank account belonging to his wife, within the same period.

The source, while speaking with Vanguard’s Crime Guard said; “We received intelligence reports about E-money’s criminal activities in October 2017, while he was a policeman, after one Emmanuel and David Ofong were abducted along Nsukka-Kogi Road, Enugu by a gang of kidnappers and a ransom of $2 million was paid for the release of one of the victims, David Ofong while the kidnappers held on to Emmanuel Ofong, demanding additional money.

“We went into the case and through the aid of advanced technology, we were able to establish that E-money was the man behind the kidnapping but we had difficulty arresting him then because he was always moving in and out of the country.

-How he operated the gang

“Shockingly, we heard, in 2018 that he had been killed alongside two members of his gang. But since Chief Emmanuel Ofong, who he kidnapped was still missing; we continued our case with the hope of arresting other members of his gang. In the process, we arrested a banker working for him and he informed us that his wife had a fixed deposit account credited with N100 million.

“We also arrested a property agent, who assisted him in buying his property. We looked further into his activities and discovered that he was operating a gang so sophisticated that his gang members were not close to themselves and none of them knew where he kept his victims after he had kidnapped them.

“He also conducted negotiations for ransom of his victims by himself which was usually in foreign currencies. We discovered that he gave his gang members whatever he liked as he had succeeded in preventing them from knowing how much he got for the operations.

“We also discovered that E-money used, to a large extent, his police exposure in coordinating his criminal enterprise and he ended up acquiring so much money within a short period.

“Despite the October 2019 interim order of forfeiture, issued by the Federal High Court Owerri, to the Nigeria Police Force to confiscate all properties belonging to E-money, which included vehicles, buildings and the sum of N100million found in his wife, Gift Ezenwa’s account, the said N100million has been withdrawn completely,” the source lamented.

Mother of two kicked out by landlord seeks help after being gang-r.a.p.e.d in front of her children

A 27-year-old mother of two who was kicked out of her house in Mihango, Nairobi is pleading for assistance after thugs gang-r.a.p.e.d her in front her children at an unfinished building where she took shelter.

The woman, Elizer, not her real name, said that she was locked out of her house a month ago and took to sleeping outside with her children.

Elizer told K24 Digital that she was evicted over two-months rent arrears amounting to Sh11,000.

On her r.a.p.e ordeal, Elizer said that the cries of her little ones, a three-year-old girl and seven-year-old boy at night attracted the attention of her two assailants.

The thugs, she said, took advantage as it was raining heavily outside and there was no one to respond to her cries for help.

She said that her business, hawking fruits on Mombasa Road, has been hit hard by Covid-19 pandemic as customers have dwindled and prices for stock spiked.

For months now, she has sought alternative livelihood but to no avail. During the day, she spends on a rooftop of an unfinished building and during the night begs strangers for accommodation.

Elizer said that she has tried making a living as a laundrywoman but many people are shirking from hiring for fear of contracting Covid-19.

Now, she seeks any help she can get to seek medical treatment following the r.a.p.e ordeal and for food for her two little children.
