Dr. Mohammed further disclosed that the doctor may have contracted the virus while treating COVID-19 patients but he refused to allow himself to be treated thereby exposing his family members to the deadly virus.

”The doctor and nine of his family members were recently discharged but the last child, the 9 year son is still in isolation. When the doctor got infected, instead of allowing other doctors to take care of him , he went home with it. Police constable shoots wife, kills self after evening dispute

A youthful police constable from Buuri West in Meru County, Kenya committed suicide following a domestic dispute with his wife.

Michael Siwalo allegedly shot his spouse, Silvia Ramat Letei, in the stomach at 6:15pm before turning the gun on himself and fired a bullet in his chest. The incident happened at the couple’s house in Panama area, Timau Township in Meru County.

In a report filed at Timau Police Station, Siwalo, whose service number is 116272, is said to have shot his 25-year-old partner once.

“Police proceeded to the scene and found the officer’s wife seated against the wall near the main door. She was in a lot of pain, and was bleeding [profusely],” reveals the police statement, saying Letei was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital in critical condition.

“The officers (who rushed to the scene) also entered the couple’s bedroom, where they found police constable Michael Siwalo lying dead with a gunshot wound in the chest,” says the police report filed under OB Number 38/15/5/2020.

Police say the couple’s bedroom was disorganised, suggesting “there was a struggle before the shooting”.

It has been established that Siwalo had been allocated the firearm, an AK-47, with 30 rounds of ammunition at 6pm “in preparation for curfew duties”.

“The said-rifle was recovered in the bedroom with a magazine loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition and one in the chamber. Also recovered from the scene, are two cartridges,” said the police report.

The deceased was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as investigations into the matter continue.

South Korean club uses 's.e.x dolls' to replace humans as football begins in the country

Top-flight South Korean side has apologised after fans accused them of using s.e.x dolls in the stands.

FC Seoul insisted they were "premium mannequins" rather than s.e.x dolls - but did admit they came from a supplier that produces s.e.x toys.

And some of the dolls were holding signs advertising s.e.x websites - despite p.o.r.n.ography being banned in South Korea.

On Sunday, FC Seoul played their first home match of the K League season.

The ground was empty - one of many measures designed to prevent a Covid-19 outbreak.

So before the match, a company called Dalcom offered to fill some of the empty seats, and the club agreed. In total, there were 30 mannequins - 25 of them female, and five of them male.

However, fans watching online noticed that some of the mannequins looked more like s.e.x dolls - leading to the club apologising on Instagram and Facebook.

Club official Lee Ji-hoon told the BBC it didn't do a background check on Dalcom, and didn't realise their line of work.

But the club said that Dalcom insisted the dolls were merely "premium mannequins", rather than anything more x-rated.

Mr Lee admitted he thought the dolls looked "very human" - but said it didn't even enter his mind that they could be s.e.x toys.

Lobatan! FAKE soldiers KILL POLICE in Lagos

Police in Lagos have arrested two FAKE soldiers Kehinde Elijah, 45, and Eze Joseph in connection with the killing of a police sergeant, Onalaja Onajide.

Onajide, who was attached to Ilemba Hausa Division, Ajamgbadi, was gunned down about 9:30pm on May 10 in front of the division.

It was gathered that the suspects were apprehended at the weekend by a team led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Yahaya Adesina, a Chief Superintendent (CSP), said to have witnessed the incident that night.

The Nation gathered that Elijah, a dismissed soldier sacked for deserting the battle against the insurgents in the Northeast, paid frequent visits to the police station pretending to be a serving soldier.

The suspect, police sources said, was being watched after his motorcycle was impounded that day and later in the night, a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) carrying men dressed in military uniforms was spotted around the division shortly before Onajide was shot.

The Nation gathered that Elijah had visited the division several times in full military attire but was eventually arrested Saturday evening when he was taken before the DPO who figured he was an impersonator.

He was said to have confessed during interrogation that he deserted the army with his firearm and other military accouterments including three military uniforms.

Similarly, in the course of investigation, Joseph, a resident of Imude Pako in Era Road, Ajangbadi was trailed to his residence where three other impersonators allegedly fled and the police recovered three other army uniforms.

Pictures show wet markets continue to operate across South East Asia as the world battles coronavirus

Wet markets selling live animals including bats, dogs and snakes are continuing to operate across South-East Asia, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Shocking pictures show the animals crammed into tiny cages at markets in countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and China, where the outbreak is believed to have first emerged.

One horrific clip shows a rabbit in its death throes, while another shows live chickens, geese, monkeys and toads waiting to be slaughtered or sold.

This comes despite experts' belief that Covid-19, which has now claimed the lives of more than 300,000 people around the world, originated from a bat sold at a wet market in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The photos were taken by investigators from animal rights organisation PETA.

In the Philippines, workers wearing flip-flops were seen walking across blood-soaked floors and cutting up pig and bird carcasses with their bare hands.

In Vietnam, the cooked heads and other body parts of dogs were piled on a counter near living animals. Blood, guts, and water covered the floors at every market.

Live civets, which have been linked to the SARS outbreak, were also seen.

Bats, which are believed to have been the animal which passed Covid-19 on to humans, were seen hanging upside down in cages in Indonesia.

PETA and its international affiliates are using the video footage to renew their call on the World Health Organization to urge the closure of live-animal markets worldwide.

So far, the campaign has been supported by over a quarter of a million people, the organisation said.

'The next deadly pandemic is inevitable as long as markets filled with sick and stressed animals are still open,' PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk said.

'PETA is calling on government officials to shut down these Petri dishes for pandemics.'

US biotech company claims it has discovered cure for coronavirus

Scientists at a California biotech company have found an antibody that completely blocks coronavirus in a discovery they called a 'cure,' Fox News reports.

Sorrento Therapeutics, based in San Diego, claims its STI-1499 antibody stopped coronavirus from entering 100 percent of healthy human cells in petri dish experiments.

It's one of several antibodies planned to be combined for a drug 'cocktail' Sorrento is developing in collaboration with Mt Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

In a press release, Sorrento said it could produce up to 200,000 doses of the antibody a month - a production timeline that would likely make the drug available months sooner than a COVID-19 vaccine is expected.

The company has filed for emergency approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but has not yet received the green light.

Stocks for Sorrento soared by nearly 220 percent on the heels of the announcement.

'We want to emphasize there is a cure,' Sorrento's CEO, Dr Henry Ji, told Fox.

'There is a solution that works 100 percent.

'If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear.'

COVID-19: Policeman on the run after testing positive

It was gathered the CSP (names withheld) attached to 21 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Nyanya, Abuja, was billed to be evacuated from his residence at Garki Barracks around 2pm on Friday.

The officer was said to have been under quarantine and treatment at the National Hospital Abuja Isolation Centre after he tested positive.

It was however not clear how and why the senior officer left the hospital and returned to his home where he was said to have continued self- treatment with the help of his friends and colleagues until NCDC officials came for him.

Sources said the health workers were led by policemen from Garki Division to the officer’s residence but he refused all entreaties to open the door and follow them.

It was gathered the officer and his family members were seen peeping through the window while the evacuators made unsuccessful efforts to convince him to follow them.

“He was later seen driving out of the barracks in his car to an unknown destination. His mobile phone has remained unreachable.

“Surveillance teams have been set up to trail and take him into custody. Police medical team has alerted and on standby,” said a source.

Woman Murders Her Husband In Delta Over Will

Some residents of Issele Uku, Aniocha North area of Delta State have been thrown into mourning over the untimely death of a middle aged man who was on Friday murdered by his wife over will.

The wife, simply known as Veronica, from Abakaliki, was said to have had three children for the late husband, Uwebunor, before the incident happened, apart from a son the man had before he met Veronica.

Trouble was said to have started immediately after the man, who is from Obonkpa Community, but resides in Issele Uku, bought a piece of land and built a house where both of them and the children were staying.

The wife was said to have approached the man on Tuesday to prepare his will in order to make sure her children benefit more from his inheritance, after sensing that the first son, 23, the man had from another woman may take over the building and leave out her children.

It was also revealed that the man did not pay the bride price for Veronica, which was said to be another fear the woman nursed, which informed why she wanted the will done immediately.

The man, also said to have abandoned the idea of the will, did not take it serious and not knowing the woman had a plan to kill him over the matter.

A close family source told Independent that, “Uwebunor was sleeping when the woman hit him with hard object on the head. She went further to stab him on the neck with a knife before she poured Kerosene on him and set him ablaze.

He did not get burnt because of the blood on his body.”

As at the time of filling the report, the corpse of the man had been deposited in the mortuary while Veronica had been arrested by security personnel.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed that the woman had been arrested while investigation was ongoing.

She said that the outcome of the investigation would confirm if the woman actually murdered the husband.

Lagos Begins Process To Fully Re-open The Economy

Lagos State is working on full re-opening of the critical sectors of its economy, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, revealed on Sunday. But, the move will not be pushed in a hurry.

In the coming days, Sanwo-Olu said the State Government would be rolling out Register-to-Open initiative as part of the plans that would enable it to assess the level of readiness of the players in the identified sectors for supervised operations.

The Governor spoke at a briefing after the State’s Security Council meeting held at the State House in Marina.

Sanwo-Olu said officials from the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) and Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) will be visiting restaurants, companies, religious houses to assess their level of readiness.

With the size of the State’s economy and numbers of businesses that operate in its domain, the Governor said the Government could not afford to keep people and businesses on lockdown permanently.

He said: “We are at a level where we are reviewing the other arms of the economy. In the coming days, we will be starting what we call Register-to-Open, which means all players in the restaurant business, event centres, entertainment, malls and cinemas will go through a form of re-registration and space management.

“There is a regulation that will be introduced to supervise this move. We will be coming to their facilities to assess their level of readiness for a future opening. I don’t know when that opening will happen in the weeks ahead, but we want these businesses to begin to tune themselves to the reality of COVID-19 with respect to how their workspaces need to look like.

“For us, it is not to say they should re-open fully tomorrow or any time; there has been a process guiding the re-opening. We will be mandating LASEPA and Safety Commission to begin the enumeration process and the agencies will be communicating with all relevant businesses and houses in the days ahead. I must, however, caution that this should not be misinterpreted as a licence for full opening; it is certainly not. The State’s economy is not ready for that now.”

Sanwo-Olu said the Government agencies also would be visiting places of worship to evaluate their level of preparedness ahead of full reopening. He stressed that social distancing and hygiene would be fully considered in determining whether mosques and churches can re-open in the future.

“We are reviewing and considering how the phased unlocking will happen. If we see a huge level of compliance, then it can happen in the next two to three weeks. If not, it could take a month or two months. It is until we are sure all of these players are ready to conform to our guidelines,” the Governor asserted.

Sanwo-Olu urged businesses, religious houses and residents to maintain the status quo while the State works out modalities for full re-opening.

8 injured in clash over imam’s position in Kogi

Eight people were injured in a clash between members of two Islamic sects over Imamate – Imam of Okene Central Mosque position – in Kogi State.

Locals told Daily Trust on Sunday that the clash which occurred on Friday was a spill over of the lingering crises between Tijaniyya and Sunni sects over who become the chief imam following the demise of the former imam, Musa Galadima who died in 2019.

It was learnt that the clash occurred few minutes to the commencement of the juma’at sermon when Ustaz Bello Hussaini, a sunni referred to Sheik Salihu Abere, who has been superintending over the mosque as the acting chief imam.

The statement was said to have infuriated a member of Tijaniyya group who demanded for an apology from the sunni member for being rude to the chief imam.

The development was said to have resulted in a free-for-all fight with many faithfuls scampering for safety.

A civil servant, Abdulsalam Mohammed Bashir who spoke to journalists on the matter, described it as an unfortunate and sad development.

“I was there when the chief imam entered the mosque to preside over the juma’at prayers.

“To the surprise of many people in the mosque , Bello Hussaini stopped his pre-hutuba sermon and announced that the acting imam is around instead of referring to him as the chief imam. This was the cause of the mayhem that lasted for more than an hour before the intervention of the police,” he explained.

However, the sunni member who was at the center of the altercation, Ustaz Bello Hussaini said he did no wrong by referring to Sheikh Salihu Abere as the acting imam since the substantive imam has not yet emerged.

According to him, following the death of the late chief imam, Sheik Salihu Abere who was the deputy was directed by Governor Yahaya Bello to step in on acting capacity.

“Momoh Jimoh challenged me for referring to Salihu Abere as acting chief imam and altercation and crisis followed. Four of our members were seriously injured while their shops was vandalised,” he said.

He said he referred to Abere as acting chief imam because, since he was directed to takeover on acting capacity, there has not been a pronouncement making him the substantive chief imam.

Meanwhile, governor Bello has summoned the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland , the five Ohis in the district and eminent personalities from the zone to Lokoja with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis.
