Man who sealed wife’s private parts with superglue smoked out of hideout

A 30-year-old Tharaka Nithi man who assaulted his wife and sealed her genitalia, mouth and ears in a fit of jealousy has been arrested.

The man, identified as Kifo Muriuki was smoked from his hideout in Kaningo, Kitui County by a combined team from Directorate of Criminal Investigations Tseikuru, Special Crimes Unit and DCI Tharaka South.

Police have not yet revealed where they are holding the suspect, who had been on the run since Saturday, May 16, when he committed the heinous act.

According to the police report, Muriuki first lured his wife out of their Marimanti township home, fearing that he would be arrested after having travelled from Nairobi where there is a lockdown.

“They both went and on reaching River Kathita, he ordered her to remove all her clothes so that she may tell him all the men she had slept with while he was at Nairobi,” the woman told the police in her report.

At first, she said she declined the odd request but the man descended on her with blows while threatening to stab her with the knife he was holding.

After she complied, the man is said to have sprayed pepper and salt on her private parts and then applied superglue.

Worse still, the man then applied the same superglue on her ears and mouth.

Schools will reopen soon but no date ― Federal government

The Federal Government has disclosed that there are plans to soon reopen schools nationwide, saying, however, that this will not be done in two weeks as being speculated in some quarters.

Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, made the clarification on Thursday during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 news conference in Abuja following rumours making the round the Federal Government would reopen schools in the next two weeks.

The Federal Government had ordered the indefinite closure of educational institutions nationwide as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

But Nwajiuba while responding to questions from the media on when the government’s plans to reopen to the schools following the easing of the lockdown, said the schools would be reopened when the safety of the school children could be guaranteed.

He said the government was wary not to endanger the lives of the school children and further spread of the coronavirus in the society.

He added that his ministry is working with other relevant stakeholders and agencies of government to put necessary measure in place that would guarantee the safety of children before the schools are reopened.

He said: “We all are seriously interested in reopening and I believe we will reopen soon. But I can’t confirm what your children said that we will reopen in two weeks.
“The issue around reopening has nothing to do with the availability of the schools or not. It has to do with national governance. The idea of shutting down the schools has nothing to do with the schools per se.

“You heard the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the SGF, keep saying it is a national response. It is a single national response and everything we do flows from that.

“When they determine, I’m sure you have seen all the experts here, that there is the measure of safety to which we can expose our children, we will gladly do that. We are watching and we are working with all bodies within and outside the country.

“The five countries of West African Examination Council (WAEC) are meeting and I just came out of a meeting with African Union (AU) Ministers of Education, everybody is concerned as you are. We hope to reopen very soon.

Police officers who helped murder suspect escape from custody arraigned

Three police officers based at Kamukunji Police Station, Nairobi, were on Thursday arraigned for aiding the escape from custody a Ugandan suspect charged with kidnapping their colleague.

Corporal Vacity Kemeres, Stephen Ochieng, and Elias Mungaria were accused that on May 13, 2020, acting jointly with others not before court, that they aided the escape of Martin Wasike.

Wasike had been charged with kidnapping with intent to murder a police officer, whose whereabouts remain unknown and is largely feared dead.

The victim’s lawyer, Alfred Nyandieka, told the court to detain the suspects and deny them bail, arguing they can also disappear from custody.

But the suspects’ lawyer said the court should presume them innocent until proven guilty, stating there is no compelling evidence to deny them bail.

The police officers’ lawyer said that there is no connection between his clients and the person alleged to have been kidnapped.

“They have no contact with the alleged kidnapper who is at large. The application is lacking any foundation in law,” said the advocate in his request to have the police officers released on lenient terms.

Nollywood Actor Tayo Stabs Neighbour To Death Over Electricity Bill

A 30-year-old Nollywood actor, Temitayo Ogunbusola, has allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Oladotun Osho, to death following a disagreement over the payment of electricity bill.

The incident happened on Sunday at No. 4 Sebil Kazeem Street in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.

Temitayo was said to have been beaten to a pulp by a mob before the intervention of policemen from the Ikotun Police Station.

The remains of the victim were deposited in a morgue for autopsy.

Punch Metro gathered that trouble started when a resident of the house, one Banjo, demanded the payment of the electricity bill from the other occupants.

However, Temitayo was alleged to have refused to pay his share of the bill, which led to an argument between him and Banjo.

The suspect was said to have in a fit of anger taken a dagger with which he threatened to stab Banjo.

It was gathered that Oladotun, who was coming into the compound with his brother and friend, saw Temitayo, who was searching for Banjo to stab him.

When Temitayo could not find his target, he reportedly directed his aggression at Oladotun and stabbed him in the chest.

Oladotun’s sister, Ronke Akindipe, who spoke with Punch Metro, alleged that the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case tried to cover it up by not informing the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikotun Police Station, because the suspect was a known face at the station.

She said, “The landlord does not stay in the house, so the person in charge of the electricity bill in the house went to the tenants on Sunday to tell them to settle the bill, but when he got to Temitayo’s apartment to ask for his share of the bill, an argument ensued between them and Temitayo threatened to break the man’s head.

“Banjo ran out of the compound and brought his brother, who is a soldier, and his colleagues and when they came, he was taken to the Ikotun Police Station to write an undertaken that he would not touch Banjo and others in the compound.

“When Temitayo got home, he started threatening to break Banjo’s head for daring to report him at the police station and when Banjo came back, other neighbours told him to run away and Temitayo started pursuing him in the compound.

“Oladotun and one of our brothers and his friend did not have a clue as to what was going on in the compound and they entered, because it did not cross my brother’s mind that he was going to stab him, because the disagreement was between Banjo and Temitayo.

“When Temitayo could not find Banjo, he stabbed my brother in the chest and my brother started shouting for help. When my other brother bent down to carry Oladotun, Temitayo attempted to stab him in the back, but for the intervention of their friend, who used his hand to block the assailant. My brother was rushed to hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“After the incident, people went after Temitayo and almost beat him to a pulp, but the police came to rescue him and took him away to the station. The IPO in charge of the case tried to change the narrative at the station by asking my dad if my brother had an underlying disease for him to have died from stabbing.

“We later learnt that the IPO did not inform the DPO about the matter until we saw the DPO and explained everything to him, and when he called the IPO, he started giving excuses on why he did not report the matter. The suspect was not feeling remorseful for what he did when the case was still with the IPO, but when the DPO intervened, he started feeling remorseful.

“We want justice; we don’t want them to release a criminal to start walking freely on the street, because if not for the DPO, the IPO would have released him as he was bringing up excuses for the suspect.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to our correspondent, stated that Temitayo was beaten by a mob and he needed to be fit for trial before he could be charged.

He said, “The report we got was that there was a misunderstanding between two neighbours and one stabbed the other and the suspect narrowly escaped mob action because of the timely intervention of the police.

“He is in our custody. The DPO reported the matter to the command headquarters, but the suspect was battered by the mob and we cannot detain him like that; so, he has to be treated under guard. He cannot stand trial the way he is. As soon as he is fit to stand trial, he will be in court.”

Man kills ex-girlfriend, her two daughters in jealous rage

A South Carolina man furious that his ex-girlfriend went to the beach with another man fatally shot her and her two daughters before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

Gabriel Jordan, 37, committed the carnage on Sunday outside the St. Matthews home of his ex, Shanta Singleton, according to a police report obtained by the Times and Democrat of Orangeburg.

Cops said Jordan initially choked Singleton before shooting her when one of her four daughters at the home tried to intervene.

Jordan then shot 12-year-old Tre’vay Stroman after she jumped on his back, Calhoun County deputies said.

He next took aim at 18-year-old Shantasia Stroman, who was struck in the arm and escaped to a neighbor’s.

As Stroman ran away, she saw Jordan chasing her 15-year-old sister, Essence Stroman, into their house. Essence was later found dead, according to the report.

Jordan’s body was found with a pistol next to him, deputies said.

One of two surviving children told investigators that Jordan followed her mom and another man home from Myrtle Beach.

The daughter said Jordan snapped after Singleton told him their on-again-off-again relationship was finished.

60% Of COVID-19 Cases In Rivers Are Oil Workers - Governor Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has stated that 60 per cent of coronavirus cases recorded in the state are from oil workers returning from rigs.

Governor Wike disclosed this when the Management Team of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Port Harcourt.

He stated that it is for this reason that the state government has insisted that oil workers coming into the state must be tested to confirm their coronavirus status.

The Rivers state Governor also said that the Nigeria Air Force Base, Port Harcourt, recently quarantined 14 oil workers out of which three tested positive, just as he commended Exxon Mobil for their gesture.

“Just yesterday the Nigerian Air Force base quarantined 14 oil workers. Three of them tested positive for COVID-19. You see, those who come from the rig contributes to 60 per cent of the cases we have recorded in this state.

NFL player 's.e.x.ually' assaulted on United Airlines flight

An NFL player from New Jersey was repeatedly harassed and groped by a drug-addled female passenger aboard a United Airlines flight, according to a new lawsuit that claims the crew didn’t do enough to stop the very inappropriate use of hands.

The unnamed athlete, John Doe 1, said his ordeal began shortly after the red-eye flight departed Los Angeles for Newark Liberty International Airport on Feb. 10.

He said the woman, who also is not identified, appeared “disheveled and unbalanced” when she boarded the flight and took her window seat next to him in the economy plus section.

She allegedly soon began s.e.xually assaulting the pro footballer, who was seated in the middle seat, by “massaging” his knees and thighs, says the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday and obtained by The Post.

A second man seated in the same row, who is also suing as John Doe 2, complained to crew members but they allegedly ignored him, the suit claims.

The complaint describes both John Does as African Americans -- the professional athlete living in New Jersey and the second man residing in Philadelphia. The two men did not know each other prior to the flight, their lawyers said.

“Fearful of the perception of being a male victim and the racial stigma of being a young African American male, John Doe 1 patiently pleaded for assailant to stop and removed her hand,” the suit says.

But the alleged s.e.xual assault of John Doe 1 only “intensified,” with the woman “grabbing and groping his quads and then stroking her hand across his lap towards the inside of his leg near his genitals,” the complaint says.

At one point, she also allegedly grabbed his p.e.n.i.s and ripped off the face mask he was wearing, presumably to ward off the coronavirus, the lawsuit states.

When he got up to complain to a flight attendant, the belligerent woman turned her sights on John Doe 2, grabbing his leg and “groin area.”

She was eventually removed to another row after allegedly admitting she was drinking and had popped pills.

Both men said 25 minutes into the flight, they witnessed the woman downing prescription pills, causing her to become “intoxicated,” according to the suit.

The victims were given $150 vouchers for their troubles.

“This is a civil matter, and although we might feel the assailant’s actions were criminal, we are not in a position to seek such redress,” said lawyers Darren Darwish and Benjamin Azizian, who are seeking punitive damages and compensation for the men.

“Accountability and responsibility are at the core of our justice system. We seek to hold accountable those who have harmed our clients through their direct or indirect actions.”

The men claim the abuse could’ve been prevented but crew members “took no action” when they were made aware it was happening, the suit says.

Rachael Rivas, a spokeswoman for United, said “the safety and well-being of our customers is always our top priority.”

“In this instance, the customer involved was moved to a different seat,” she said. “Because litigation is now pending, we’re unable to provide further comment.”

Young people in the US are now attending ‘coronavirus parties’ just to get sick

A North Carolina nurse said she’s treating patients who have attended “coronavirus parties” in an attempt to catch the deadly bug and hopefully develop immunity.

“Over the last few days, we have heard from a lot of patients and the community that they’re unafraid of getting the virus,” Yolanda Enrich, a nurse practitioner at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, told an NBC affiliate.

“People are actually out and about trying to get the virus, so attending gatherings, parties trying to maximize their chances of exposure.”

Ernich said younger patients have told health care workers they’re hoping to develop antibodies so they no longer have to take precautions while they’re out in public. Though health experts have not yet determined whether coronavirus antibodies actually deliver immunity.

“We’re really concerned about this trend,” Enrich said. “They can spread the virus around the community and hurt our vulnerable populations that will have serious health implications.”

Gov. Roy Cooper and state health officials are sounding the alarm on the idiotic concept.

“You can easily kill someone you love,” Cooper said at a news conference this week, adding that the sickening soirees are “completely irresponsible and absolutely unacceptable.”

Dr. Mandy Cohen, North Carolina’s secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, said more cases translate to more risk for vulnerable residents.

“There is no circumstance under which we want people to actively pursue getting COVID-19,” Cohen said. “The reason we’re working so hard collectively to keep virus spread low is the fact that when there is more virus in our community, it not only impacts those who have it, but particularly those who are at high risk of getting severe reactions to disease.”

Shocking! N623m Approved For Nigerian Customs To Buy Just 1,200 Computers

What this means is that it will cost Nigeria N519,000 to buy one computer and one printer each for Customs? Wonderful! Which government office have you ever seen a computer and printer worth more N120,000? But we are fighting corruption.

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved N623.7 million for the Nigeria Customs Service to buy computers for its zonal and area commands.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, gave the information at the end of the virtual FEC meeting on Wednesday.

“The Minister of Finance presented a memo for the award of contract for 1, 200 units of coloured printers and desktop computers for human resources and accounting management systems across zones and area commands of the Nigeria Customs Service, which was approved.

“The sum of the contract was N623,700,000 for the 1, 200 desktops and computers for the use of the Customs Service all over the country,” Mohammed told reporters.

It appears corruption and inflation of costs is a way of life for people in government in Nigeria. Sigh!
