Dangote Opens Up On Alleged Link With Jet That Took Naira Marley To Abuja

Businessman Aliko Dangote has denied allegations that he is a co-owner of Executive Jets Services Ltd, an aviation company whose operating license was recently suspended indefinitely by the Ministry of Aviation after flouting lockdown guidelines for safety when it conveyed an artiste to Abuja for a concert amidst COVID19 restrictions.

A statement by Anthony Chiejina, Group Head, Branding and Corporate Communications, Dangote Group refuted claims that Aliko Dangote is part owner of Executive Jets Services Ltd and further denied ownership of the Bombardier Challenger 605 with registration number 5N-EXS.

He said, “Our attention has been drawn to an online publication which alleged that our President/CE, Aliko Dangote is a co-owner of the Executive Jets Services Ltd, a private airline based in Lagos. We hereby refute this allegation in its entirety, as Aliko Dangote has no stake or vested interest in the Executive Jets Services Ltd.”

He further said “The said aircraft Bombardier Challenger 605 with registration number 5N-EXS does not belong to Aliko Dangote. Dangote Group only keeps its fleet of aircraft in the hangars operated by Executive Jets Services Ltd just as others also avail themselves of the hangar services. The general public is hereby advised to disregard this unfounded and misleading report.”

Lagos Businessman Arrested For N75M "Fraud" Dies During COVID-19 Test

A businessman, Godwin Julius, who was being investigated for alleged involvement in a N75m fraud, has died while being tested for COVID-19 at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State. Godwin and one Obinale Osunwoke were arrested in the Ejigbo area of the state and were detained after the police reportedly traced some of the money to an account belonging to the late businessman.

It was gathered that the policemen acted on a petition by the representative of a United States of America-based company, Terraroad’s International Incorporation, Wisdom Chris, that the firm had been swindled out of N75m. Wisdom told The Punch that the suspects and others currently at large impersonated the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, and defrauded the firm of $200,000 with forged documents.

He said, “Some of the suspects are still at large. My company in the US got a law firm to write a petition and the only thing I know about the case is that the suspects claimed to be the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, and certain things transpired between my company and them, and the firm, was defrauded of $200,000.

“But when we went to verify the documents, we realised that they were fake. The suspects later confessed that they were fraudsters and wrote an email to that effect. Initially, we got a law firm to investigate the matter, but when they were not forthcoming, the case was reported to the police.”

While the investigation was ongoing, The Punch learnt that the police approached the court to obtain a remand order for Godwin and Osunwoke. However, Godwin reportedly took ill during investigation and was taken to the Police Hospital in Falomo, where a doctor advised that he should be taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, for a COVID-19 test.

Osunwoke, who alleged that the police ignored several pleas to grant them bail, said when Godwin’s health deteriorated, they took him to the hospital for the COVID-19 test, but he died in the process. He said, “One Charles said he needed a domiciliary account and when I asked why, he told me he had some business he was doing overseas. I told Godwin and he called Charles to confirm before his account was used.

“They are saying over N72m, but what was paid into Godwin’s account was $22,000, and out of that amount, we took 20% and Charles was to take 80%. So, when we were arrested, the police refused to grant us bail despite our lawyer and families pleading with them to grant us bail.

“The police took us to court to get an order for us to remain in their custody, but our lawyer disagreed and complained about Godwin’s health, but the magistrate gave the order for the police to detain us for 21 more days, which will elapse on June 29, 2020. When Godwin’s health deteriorated, the Investigating Police Officer took him to hospitals in Obalende and Yaba, where he was rejected. Godwin was later taken to the Police Hospital in Falomo and I followed them.

“The doctor conducted some tests and confirmed that Godwin’s breathing wasn’t normal and suggested that he should be granted bail. He also recommended that he should be taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital. When we got there for the COVID-19 test, the workers spent more than 30 minutes just to take his details and refused to attend to him immediately.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bala Elkana, said, “The two suspects were investigated for international fraud. They forged Federal Government documents and defrauded an international company. They were charged by the SCIID and the court remanded them in police custody. The challenge the police are facing currently is that prisons are not admitting new inmates because of COVID-19; so, once we have a case now, we have the burden of providing detention facility for anybody we take to court.

“That was why the two suspects were brought back to us, and while in remand, Godwin developed symptoms of COVID-19 and we took him to hospitals but he was rejected. We later took him to the Police Hospital in Falomo, where the doctor referred him to the isolation centre in Yaba for a test and he eventually died while on admission.

“The second suspect was also showing similar symptoms, because he had contact with the deceased, and the legal team had to return to court to request that the remand order be vacated so that he could be granted bail to treat himself, because he is of high risk to the persons in our facility. So, he was released by the court.”

Oshiomhole Saga: Two Acting National Chairman Emerge In APC

The Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Victor Giadom, has kicked against the appointment of Abiola Ajimobi as the acting National Chairman of the party.

The Appeal Court on Tuesday upheld the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the APC.

And now the battle for his temporary replacement seems to have begun after the National Working Committee, NWC, appointed the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as the acting National Chairman.

However, Giadom, in a statement by his lawyer, Chief Wole Afolabi, insisted that the office of the Acting Chairman is his to occupy.

He insisted that the order of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court issued on March 16, 2020 by Hon. Justice S.U Bature in Suit No. FCT/HC/M/6447/2020 to the effect that Chief Victor Giadom is to act as the National Chairman of the party following the suspension of Oshiomhole remains valid.

He said the High Court order, hereby rendered Ajimobi’s appointment null and void and of no effect.

The statement added, “Our attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly issued by the Publicity Secretary of the APC to the effect that Senator Abiola Ajimobi is to act as the National Chairman of APC following the suspension from office of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the Court of Appeal.

”We wish to state that the statement must have been issued in complete ignorance of the order of the FCT High Court issued on 16th of March, 2020 by Hon. Justice S.U Bature in Suit No. FCT/HC/M/6447/2020 to the effect that Chief Victor Giadom is to act as the National Chairman of the party due to the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman.

The order was given the same day that the Court of Appeal earlier gave Oshiomhole a temporary respite by staying the execution of the said order suspending Oshiomhole. Now that the Court of Appeal has affirmed the order of suspension, it is only proper that the Order recognising Chief Victor Giadom is implemented.

”Consequently, we have written to all law enforcement agencies to implement the said order and any one who attempts to parade himself/herself other than Chief Victor Giadom as the Acting Chairman of the APC would be facing contempt of court proceeding.”

Manchester United youngster explains visit to T.B Joshua

Manchester United starlet, Angel Gomes, has urged people to concentrate on ‘more important issues’ after a video of his visit to Pastor T. B Joshua, who claims to have healing powers resurfaced on social media, reports metro.co.uk.

Gomes’ future has been the subject of widespread speculation, with his contract due to expire at the end of the month, but the 19-year-old has made headlines for a very different reason this week.

Back in 2016, Gomes made a trip to see the renowned Nigerian pastor at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations in Lagos and footage of his experience began doing the rounds on Monday evening.

In one of the clips, the England youth international, then aged just 16, explained that persistent injury problems were the reason for his visit.

I’ve been struggling with injuries. I was having injuries around my hip and groin which were affecting me playing and I also suffered an ankle injury which was affecting me playing and kept me out for a long time,’ he said in the video.

“These injuries were coming at hard times for me, times when I was having a breakthrough or times when I had to go to a tournament or play in games. These injuries would happen quite frequently.”

Yesterday morning, Gomes addressed the reaction to the videos and admitted the footage might look ‘crazy’ but stressed that he should be able to practice his faith however he wishes.

“Regarding the video that has come out from 2016. I am from a Christian family at the time my mum was a fan of the pastor, and she really wanted me to go,” Gomes tweeted.

“I was going through some issues. From the outside looking in, it looks crazy, but I was just practicing my faith.”

He added: “I didn’t really need to explain myself but a lot of people was asking me what the video was about.

“I was young at the time and if my parents thought something was best for me I would do it.”

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright showed his support for Gomes as he responded to the youngster’s explanation.

“Absolutely none of their business [love heart emoji],” Wright replied.

Gomes became the youngest player to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils since Duncan Edwards when he debuted against Crystal Palace back in May 2017.

But Gomes’ opportunities have been limited since then and the teenager has played just six times for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this term.

Barcelona and Chelsea have both been heavily linked with Gomes in recent weeks, with the England Under-20 international set to become a free agent this summer.

Six Nigerians blamed for $6 million scam in the US

The United States authorities on Tuesday announced that it has uncovered a six million online scam deal involving six Nigerians.

US Department of State disclosed this in a statement signed by the Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

“Today, in coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control took action against six Nigerian nationals, pursuant to Executive Order 13694 as amended,” US Justice Department said.

DoJ said the Nigerians were indicted “for conducting an elaborate online scheme to steal more than $6 million from victims across the United States.”

The six Nigerians, DoJ disclosed, manipulated their victims to gain access to their sensitive information and financial resources.

“The U.S. will not tolerate such gross misuse of technology,” DoJ said.

The names of these 6 Nigerians who were disclosed by the office of Foreign Assets Control and are alleged to have committed those cyber-crimes include, Nnamdi Orson, Kayode Biola Ayorinde, Ogunshakin Alex Afolabi, Okpoh Felix Osilama, Olorunyomi Michael and Uzuh Richard Izuchukwu.

The US authorities vowed to use all of the tools at its disposal to defend the American people and businesses from malign actors that seek to target them, including cyber-enabled actors who prey on vulnerable Americans and businesses.

DoJ, however, believes that the six Nigerians and other cyber fraudsters were negatively utilising the opportunities provided by technology through the internet.

“Technological advancements that provide greater interconnectivity also offer greater opportunity for exploitation by malicious actors who target at-risk Americans,” DoJ said.

The United States Secret Service said in a memo in May that a Nigerian-based group was involved in orchestrating a COVID-19-related fraud targeting multiple American states has been traced back to Nigeria, an internal US Secret Service memo said.

The memo, seen by The Guardian, was reportedly sent to Secret Service’s field offices across the US on Thursday, May 14.

The Secret Service said the fraudsters are exploring the COVID-19 pandemic to commit massive fraud against by targeting unemployment insurance programmes.

“The United States Secret Service has received reporting of a well-organized Nigerian fraud ring exploiting the COVID-19 crisis to commit large-scale fraud against state unemployment insurance programs,” the memo said.

A California-based cybersecurity firm Agari said on Tuesday, May 19, that “some if not all” of those who committed the fraud are part of a Nigerian fraud group Scattered Canary.

A Nigerian social media celebrity Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, was recently arrested in Dubai by Interpol for alleged cyber fraud. Media reports said American officials were pushing for his extradition to the United States because the majority of those he defrauded are American citizens.

Man who loves being treated like a puppy also gets his p*nis electrocuted for s*xual gratification

A man who enjoys dressing up as a puppy and having his p-nis zapped with electricity says his fetish has survived the coronavirus lockdown despite now missing out on "belly rubs".

Freki, probably not his real name, tells the randy C4 documentary S-x in Lockdown: Keep S**gging and Carry On that living as a puppy means he gets lots of cuddles and attention, as well as punishment.

In a clip, the half-naked "human pooch" is wearing a bondage-style hood shaped like a dog's face and appears to have a "tail" in the form of a butt plug.

Freki says the first time he put on his beloved hood he was "already starting to bark" and has not looked back since then.

He embarked on the fetish, called "puppy play", just before lockdown began and says he loves being called a "good boy" by his masters.

Since then, it's been tough for him to meet up with other fetishists and he has become lonely.

He says: "Before lockdown, we were having more meetings, more cuddles, more love, more everything.

"But now it is really hard for puppies.

"It was horrible, no cuddles, no attention, no love. It was really difficult."

Freki demonstrates his loneliness by giving a long howl.

Luckily, the "puppy" has been able to go virtual walkies online and says it has been great for relieving the tension.

"The thing is, it's an escape from society. You take out all your stress.

"You're thinking no more than having cuddles and taking treats."

He says his favourite punishment is having his penis shocked with electricity, which his master will do with the push of a button.

Freki admits that having his genitals subjected to this interesting torture hurts but says he enjoys punishment and takes "a lot of pleasure with that".

In Norse mythology, Freki is one of the two wolves that accompany the god Odin.

Arnaut Danjuma mistakenly arrested for attempted murder and says he gets stopped all the time by cops because he is also black

Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma has opened up on being falsely arrested by the police on suspicion of attempted murder.

The incident occurred just days before the UK went into lockdown in March, after a stabbing occurred on 16 March.

Danjuma - who joined the Cherries in a £13.7million move from Club Brugge last summer - was walking through the town centre when he was suddenly approached by police and put in handcuffs.

However, the Netherlands international was soon released without charge as the officers realised they had arrested the wrong person.

Danjuma describes the shocking incident as "embarrassing" and "frustrating", as he was offered no explanation of why he was apprehended.

“I was walking through the town and going to the Hilton to eat something," the 23-year-old told The Sun.

“Suddenly there was a police car there and two police officers came out of it. One said ‘Put your hands on the fence!’.

“I asked, ‘What did I do?’ They said ‘Put your hands on the fence, shut up!’

“So I put my hands on the fence and asked again, ‘What did I do?’ They said to wait for the other officers to arrive.

“They came and I asked again. It was embarrassing. People were taking pictures and it got me frustrated so I went mad on the cop.

“I told him things I shouldn’t have said. But I got frustrated and angry and in the end he said, ‘You’re not the one we’re looking for, you can go’.”

Despite not receiving an apology from the police, Danjuma opted against making a formal complaint or releasing a statement.

He says the incident is just one of many times he has been stopped by the police on account of being black.

Danjuma added: “I’ve been through racism a lot and have developed a skin against it.

“There are loads of things that happen regularly to me. The police will stop me every now and then just because I drive a huge car.

“Then they will just say it’s a check-up, but you know it’s not a check-up.”

Davido’s fiancee, Chioma Rowland addresses domestic violence allegations

Chioma Rowland, Davido's fiancee has finally addressed the allegations of domestic violence purported by several online publications.

This is coming after the shocking news of an alleged 4th baby mama too.

News outlets also alleged that Chioma was the cause of Davido’s broken leg and this was due to her reacting to the alleged 4th child.

Chioma has now debunked the rumours in a lengthy post on her Instagram page, stating that the allegations were baseless and false.

Hear her; “I know you guys absolutely love to spread all sorts of rumours and stories for your entertainment and I’ve known from Day 1 what to expect from blogs and the internet especially with myself and family being in the public space.

“I have never once come out to respond to any blogger or react to any rumour mongers before as quite frankly it has never been my nature to engage in online battles or pay too much mind to social media.

“But I must say I have found quite disturbing the stories of domestic abuse between myself and David and for once feel a need to speak up. Domestic violence and abuse is NO JOKE and not something to ever take lightly. Never has there ever been an incident of abuse in my home. He has never in his life lifted a finger to touch me and I have never so much as even pushed him.

“I believe with everything we peddle as human beings whether offline or online, we should have a bit of fear of God more so when speaking on things we know absolutely nothing of. I’m not sure where in the world such stories have started from, but I want to ensure everyone showing concern whether fake or real, that such has never and will never happen. Further, we do not take such allegations of abuse lightly at all and if such persists then we will be jointly taking up action against the perpetrators of these disgusting rumors.

“To the beautiful young ones out there, never ever allow a man to lay his hands on you while you keep quiet. If you were ever to suffer such, ensure you SPEAK UP! With all that is going on in the world right now, we most certainly can not sit around and condone or encourage women to condone such!

Love,
Chioma ❤️

Cesc Fabregas wants racists sent to jail, says time is now

Cesc Fabregas believes those found guilty of racist abuse in football stadiums should be sent to jail.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal star, who now plies his trade for Monaco, has called for stricter punishments in the fight against racism.

Fabregas was speaking to The Guardian in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, which has sparked mass protests across the world.

And the Spaniard insists racism is still a massive problem in football stadiums today, urging authorities to hand out more severe punishments to those responsible.

“In the stadiums, there is ignorance, people insulting you about the colour of your skin; it’s stupid,” he said.

“Unfortunately it’s been happening for years and years and it is time to speak up and act. If you have to close the stadiums and hand out bans, we should.

“They need to go to jail – let them go to jail – but whatever needs to be done has to be done once and for all.

“There will still be some idiots that will want to be the clowns of the party but if they have to pay a high price for it, they should, because it shouldn’t be allowed any more in sport and in the world.”

Former Chelsea and AC Milan midfielder Ruud Gullit agrees with Fabregas, calling for football to spearhead a “revolution on racism”.

“The moment has come where people have had enough, it has to change,” he told Sky Sports.

“This cannot be forgotten in three months, it's now or never.

“The people are getting really angry, and they have the right to be angry. But we don't want the looting or fighting, people have to stand up together.

“We are all human, we have to think like that. There has to be universal love for all people, that is the only thing that needs to be changed in people's mentality.

“A lot of white people don't understand what it is like to be treated differently because they have never been in touch with it.

“For a lot of people, it is difficult to understand, but it is also necessary for people to understand.

“The black community aren't taking it anymore, and they are right not to take it anymore. Of course you don't want violence, but things haven't changed and something drastic has to happen, almost like a revolution.

“The black community are afraid that despite everyone talking about it now, things will go back to normal and nothing will have changed.

“We are fed up. I am half black and half white, I look black and I feel the same as a lot of people. I understand both sides, but change has to come, and this is the moment to do so.

“A lot of people feel the same way, even if they have never felt racism close to them, and I think this is the moment something can be changed.”

Prisoners show off hoards of treats and Amazon deliveries they enjoy behind bars

Prisoners at an English jail have been boasting about the stockpile of food, drinks and electronic devices they have managed to hoard behind bars, it has been reported.

Lags at HM Prison Gartree, Leicestershire, have been using social media to share photos of their cells featuring cereal packs, biscuits, shower products and magazines, Mirror reports.

Other images show televisions, games consoles, and sound systems – with inmates bragging about placing orders from Argos.

Images shared on Facebook, via mobile phones, show shelves and surfaces with products stacked on top of each other in them.

Mirror claims images shared by an inmate offer a look into an unexpectedly luxurious world of life behind bars.

The inmate they spoke to claimed he used money from family and friends to buy products and equipment that he stocked in his cell.

He claimed to have electronic devices including a speaker from high street chain Argos – and claimed to even have an Xbox, which retail at over £200.

Prisoners can earn privileges which can be used to buy products from Argos as well as online retail giant Amazon.

Goods can be sleeved from a list of 1,000 items which have been approved by the National Offenders Management Service.

While it is not illegal for inmates to receive or spend money, some officers have been shocked at the treats that some have acquired.

One officer told Sunday Mirror: “Most inmates have extra bits and pieces in their cell but it depends on the nature of the inmate and what regime they are on.

“Prisoners will trade just about anything they can get their hands on, but life is getting too comfortable.

“Some inmates watch TV or play computer games all day. While some have access to money and outside help, others don’t and it can cause conflict.”

While a Prison Service spokesman told the publication: “We apply common sense to what prisoners can buy and keep in their cells.”

JAMB, varsities adopt 160 as UTME cut-off mark

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Tuesday said it had pegged the cut-off marks of 2020/2021 admission for universities at 160, while that of polytechnics was pegged at 120.

Also, the cut-off point for colleges of education and innovative institutions was fixed for 100, while institutions were warned not to charge more than N2,000 for screening.

JAMB further disclosed that 612,557 candidates were offered admission in 2019 while about 510,957 admission spaces were not used by tertiary institutions in the same year.

The Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, stated these in his speech read at the 2020 policy meeting on the admission for the 2020/2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Oloyede in his speech stated that only 1,157,977 candidates had the required five credits with English and Mathematics that sat for the UTME held in 2019.

He said, “Out of 1,157,977 candidates, who sat for UTME in 2019, about 612,557 were admitted.”

However, the Spokesman of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, told The PUNCH how the cut-off points were arrived at.

He said, “The institutions have submitted their cut-off points already from the pool of their submissions. It was like a vote. Over 100 submitted 200 and above as cut-off point, some submitted 180 and above, while a chunk submitted 160 and above.”

At the event, the Minister of State (Education), Emeka Nwajiuba, said JAMB and tertiary institutions could take advantage of the current situation and consider candidates with SSCE and other qualifying results of previous years to proceed with 2020/2021 admission process.

Nwajiuba also listed conditions to be satisfied before the reopening of schools that were shut down to contain the spread of COVID-19.

He directed JAMB and tertiary institutions to proceed with the conduct of 2020/2021 admissions scheduled to commence in August based on the guidelines released by JAMB.

Austrian man fined €500 for farting massively

Austrian police fined a man 500 euros for loudly breaking wind after officers stopped him earlier this month to check his identity.

The police defended the massive fine saying he had deliberately emitted a “massive flatulence,” lifting his backside from the bench where he was sitting.

The accused complained of what he called the disproportionate and unjustified fine when he gave his account of the June 5 events on the O24 news website.

In reply to social media commentaries that followed, the police in the Austrian capital justified their reaction on Twitter.

“Of course, nobody is put on the spot if one slips out by accident,” the police said.

However, in this case, the police said, the young man had appeared “provocative and uncooperative” in general.

He then “slightly raised himself from the bench, looked at the officers and patently, in a completely deliberate way, emitted a massive flatulence in their immediate proximity.”

The police said the man can challenge the fine in the legal system.

Businessman sues EFCC over alleged human rights violation, demands N100m in damages

Mr Fadi Alloush, a Charcoal Merchant, on Tuesday instituted N100 million suit in the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged or violations of his Fundamental Human Rights.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other respondents in the suit are the Chief Executive of Coco Dor Nigeria Ltd, Mr Houssam Nasreddine and his company, who were sued for N50 million in damages over alleged blackmail.

Mr Olukunle Kamisi, the claimant’s counsel, informed the Court that the EFCC unlawfully arrested and detained his client over a complaint that was supposed to be a commercial civil transaction between his client and his business partner, Nasreddine.

Kamisi alleged that the EFCC failed to conduct diligent investigation before arresting his client and that the available documents and facts presented by his client clearly showed that the complaint of advanced fee fraud by Nasredddine was false.

He said that that his client and Nasredddine, had before EFCC’s arrest, been to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Alagba, Lagos State, where he agreed to return for further discussion on the reconciliation of account between them.

Kamisi said that the detention of Alloush in the custody of EFCC between March 9 to 17 was purely civil commercial transaction between him and Nasredddine.

He said that the move by Nasredddine to report the matter to the EFCC was to frustrate the reconciliation attempt of FCID, Alagba, adding that Nasredddine”s statement before the EFCC showed that both parties were business partners.

Kamisi said that the EFCC acted in contrary to the law establishing it and does not have the power to entertain a civil matter and cannot act as debt collector.

He said that his clients business was destroyed during the arrest and detention while his charcoal trucks were also seized.

Kamisi urged the court to award N100 million as damages against the EFCC for unlawful and reckless violation of the applicant’s right to Personal Liberty and N50 million against Nasredddine.

He prayed the court to restrain EFCC from harassing, molesting and embarrassing his client.

In his response, Counsel to the EFCC, Dr Benedict Ubi, informed the court that the commission acted in accordance with the law.

Ubi, however, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the commission file a reply on point of law to the further affidavit of the applicant.

Justice Iyabo Yerima, granted his prayer for an adjournment fixed July 1 for continuation,

Woman unleashes dogs on tricyclist over N3,500

A tricyclist, Mohammed Abdulhammed, escaped death by the whiskers after he was attacked by two dogs released by their owner, over failure to remit N3,500 to the coordinator of tricycles in Igando area of Lagos State.

Trouble started for the 33-year-old tricycle operator, Monday, when he was intercepted by the coordinator, Mojisola Awe, at Santa Maria Street, off Isuti road in Egan, Igando as he was accused of failing to remit previous day’s payment to Awe.

A verbal confrontation, which degenerated into a brawl between the operator, the coordinator, and her two sons, occurred and in the process, one of the coordinator’s sons was alleged to have unleashed their dogs on the helpless tricyclist.

Not done, Awe was said to have reported at the Igando Police division that she was assaulted by the tricyclist.

During the investigation, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Taiwo Kashumu, insisted on interrogating the tricyclist, during which the truth was uncovered. Some of those who witnessed the attack reportedly visited the station to attest to what transpired.

One of those who visited the station told Vanguard that ” we went to testify to what happened. We were told that the woman told the Police that the tricyclist injured her in the mouth. But for our intervention, the Keke rider would have been killed simply because he failed to remit Monday’s daily returns.

This is what usually happens anytime Keke rider fails to remit daily returns. The Police should call her to order”.

However, another man who simply gave his name as Nasiru, said ” at times these tricyclists deliberately fail to bring in daily returns. The woman usually cautions them not to collect Keke from her if they can’t meet up with the deadline for payment “.

As at yesterday, the injured tricyclist was said to be receiving treatment from injuries sustained.

Police sources said an investigation was still on.
