Man accidentally buys 28 Tesla cars online worth $1.4million

A German national accidentally purchased 28 Tesla Model 3 vehicles online amounting to a whopping  $1.4million, reportedly due to a technical glitch on the company’s website.

A man, who identifies himself as “Ballon-Man” on Reddit, took to the online platform to share the anecdote about his family’s “accidental purchase”.

The Reddit user and his father wanted to buy just one Tesla Model 3 car with autopilot and ended up buying 27 more units of the same model.

According to Ballon-Man, while they were purchasing the car, an online glitch must have occurred, due to which their order could not be placed even after clicking on 'submit'. The website kept responding with messages showing payment issue, although they had duly filled all the payment details correctly. The father and son kept clicking on the “confirm” button, but the same error kept popping up on the screen.

This went on for nearly two hours and by the end of it, when the website responded, it confirmed orders for 28 units of the Tesla car. What made them more anxious is that each order they placed had a minimum no-refund fee of 100 Euros, which meant they would have to shell out thousands for no fault of their own.

However, according to the Reddit user, Tesla acknowledged their problem and agreed to cancel the entire order free of cost. A fresh order had to be placed by the family later to purchase a single unit of the Model 3.  😂😂

"Stop Imposing Wrong Candidates On Nigerians" - APC, PDP Warned

A foremost Nigerian businessman and politician, Chief Suarau Alani Bankole, described imposition of candidates by political parties as the bane of Nigeria’s politics and therefore asked the leading parties in the country to stop the practice in the interest of the populace.

Chief Bankole, who is the father of a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, spoke yesterday in an interview with Daily Trust in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He noted that parties often imposed “wrong candidates” during elections, leaving the voters to choose between “two evils”.

He said, “Imposition of candidates has become the bane of Nigerian politics. It’s so bad because it’s nearly impossible to win an election without belonging to either of the two main political parties. So, people believe they should put their own people there for their own benefit.

"Whereas, it won’t be out of place to expect somebody when he gets to power to do certain things for some people who supported him, but at the same time it should not be at the expense of the public.

“I think what we should be talking about in Nigeria today is to stop imposition of candidates so that we chose popular candidates within their own parties to enable the electorate have choice between good candidates, because if all the parties impose wrong candidates, the populace will have no choice than to pick one of them, and that one may not be good.”

At least 81 people were killed in Ethiopia after death of a popular singer Hachalu Hundessa sparked violent protests in the country’s Oromia region, a police chief said late Wednesday.

Those killed included protesters and police officers, Ararsa Merdasa, the Oromia Police Chief, said in a televised press briefing.

Raging husband hanged himself after strangling wife to death

A husband flew into a rage and strangled his wife to death before hanging himself while their two-year-old son slept in his cot, an inquest has heard.

Kiril Nemcev, 32, attacked his wife Lana Nemceva, 33, after they argued about her mother moving in with them.

The couple's lodger made the grim discovery at the couple's home in Burton, Staffs., on September 4 last year.

An inquest heard Kiril was found by the banisters while his wife's lifeless body was on the bathroom floor.

He had a superficial stab wound in his stomach which Lana is thought to have inflicted before he strangled her.

Their two-year-old son Oscar was in the cot in the couple's bedroom and was unharmed.

The couple had moved to the UK from their native Latvia with Lana getting a job as an optometrist while Kiril worked as a chef at Pizza Express.

But a hearing at South Stafforshire Coroner's Court heard Kiril had taken medication for anxiety and had researched divorce online before attacking his wife.

The couple's lodger Yuri Latchis discovered their bodies after returning home after work and finding the front door locked.

He climbed in through the bathroom window at 11pm where he found Lana lying on the bathroom floor.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Ison, of Staffordshire Police, said the couple's relationship became strained when Lana's mother stayed with them.

He told the inquest: "Lana's mother lived at the property at times as well.

"She was abroad and back home on the day in question. The lodger was at work.

"He returned home shortly after 11pm and found that he couldn't get into the house as he would normally.

"He had to gain access through his own bathroom window which was insecure.

"He then found the bodies of Kiril and Lana. He then made contact with the emergency services to notify us.

"Kiril's body was [found on the ground floor] and Lana's body was found on the floor of the bathroom upstairs."

Detectives carried out forensic examinations of the scene, including bringing in blood pattern analysis experts, and concluded there was no third party involvement.

The coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killing and suicide.

"I R*pe Married Women In Their Husband's Presence" - Notorious Lagos Robber

A self-confessed robber and serial r*pist, yesterday revealed why he r*pes women and maids in the presence of their husbands and bosses.

According to him, it is a punishment for refusing to give him money, during operation.

Rather than showing remorse for his action, the suspect, Adeniyi Ajayi, 27, an exconvict, begged the Police to kill him, instead of sending him back to prison. Ajayi, who runs a one-man squad, was arrested by operatives of the Special AntiRobbery Squad, SARS, in a hotel at Ijora 7-up area of Lagos.

His modus operandi was to break into victims’ homes, ordering them to cooperate with him or risk being killed by other members of his gang whom he claimed had surrounded the building.

When news of his arrest filtered round Sabo and its environ, eight victims, some of who were civil servants and lawyers, stormed SARS office to affirm that he r*ped them during operation.

Among them were also two female staff of a company in Sabo, who disclosed that he r"ped them right before their male colleagues, in broad daylight on June 16, 20. During interrogation, he admitted culpability.

He said: "Yes, I r*pe women whose husbands refused to give me money, and those tried to make things difficult for me during operation. I operated alone, with just torchlight. But I would be giving orders to my imaginary gang members, on where to position themselves, just to give the impression that I was not alone.

"The solution to this act is for the Police to waste my life because if they take me to prison, I will come back hardened and I don’t want to keep disturbing Nigerians. It is better they waste my life”.

When asked what he meant by waste his life, he replied, "they should just kill me to end it all."

Tinubu In Shock As el-Rufai Leads Charge Against Him

Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention, some founders and pillars of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have returned to the trenches to restrategise and plot fresh plans to realise their 2023 political quests.

Notable leaders of the party considered to be posturing for 2023 include Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi; Kaduna governor, Nasir el-Rufai; and Ekiti governor, Kayode Fayemi among others.

Many observers saw the dissolution of the NWC as targeted against Tinubu and his 2023 presidential ambition. The Presidency and Governor Buni dismissed this insinuation as balderdash and insisted that the sack of the NWC was to save the APC from implosion. Indeed, Vanguard checks showed that the party, before the dissolution, was facing 11 law suits in various courts.

Following the dissolution, some members of the NWC, who described the NEC as illegal contemplated challenging the decision in court but later changed their minds over what a source attributed to: “We don’t want to be seen to be challenging the President’s decision.” Indeed, Tinubu at the weekend said President Buhari had spoken “and we accept his decisions” just as he said he had not made any decision regarding 2023 because “the concerns of this hour are momentous enough.”

In like manner, Oshiomhole said he has taken the dissolution of the NWC in good faith and reassured the President that his confidence in his leadership remained unshaken. A stalwart of the APC said the dissolution of the NWC has brought forward a battle that would have been fought in 2022 when Oshiomhole’s tenure would have ended.

How Oshiomhole’s mistakes hurt his allies
“Oshiomhole made many avoidable mistakes that have caused a setback to those depending on him to prosecute their 2023 aspirations. Although his tenure would have ended before the 2023 election but he would have had a hand in producing his successor.

“Now, that opportunity has been lost, those depending on him will fight hard to have a hand in producing the next NWC, and it is not going to be easy,” the source said.

The source projected that the national chairmanship will still go the South-South, though the APC no longer has a foot hold in the oil-rich region, following the defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to the PDP. According the source, the South-West will not accept the chairmanship slot because its leaders are interested in the presidency. In like manner, the source said the North does not seem ready to relinquish power to the South in 2023 and may not accept the position.

Tinubu returns to drawing board
Regarding permutations for 2023, a top Tinubu supporter told Vanguard that “the dissolution calls for retrospection, going back to the drawing board and re-strategising for 2023. Our leader is an experienced politician. He knows the game. He also knows his onions. He was elected to the Senate in 1993 with over one million votes, the first person to be elected to the Senate with over one million votes.

“We still have more than two years to 2023. He cannot be seen to be fighting the Commander-in-Chief, though he would have loved Oshiomhole to serve out his tenure as APC chairman.”

Fayemi, el-Rufai move to strengthen party
On the same count, the camps of Fayemi and el-Rufai have started reaching out to stakeholders on the way forward. A close aide of Governor Fayemi said the dissolution of the NWC was done in the interest of the party and “it is a welcome development” adding that the governor is now joining forces to make the APC strong and virile because “it is when the party is strong that you can realise your aspiration.”

Why stakeholders moved against NWC – Amaechi loyalist
Also, a source loyal to the Amaechi tendencies in APC said: “At the inception of the APC, the agreement was that the CPC will control power, ACN will control the party, and n-PDP will control the legislature but now the CPC and ACN want to control all. This cannot be allowed to continue as we approach 2023.”

Amaechi is one of biggest pillars of the APC in the South-South, given the fate of Oshiomhole. Others include Chief Timipre Sylva, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and Senator Godswill Akpabio but Amaechi is said to be closest to President Buhari among the lot.

Buhari Gives Ondo Ambassador Slot To Rivers Woman, Ondo Indigenes Kick

President Muhammadu Buhari has named an indigene of Abonnema local government area of Rivers State, Mrs. Opunimi Akinkugbe, as an ambassadorial nominee for Ondo State.

Mrs. Nimi Akinkugbe’s name was listed under Ondo State on the list announced by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday.

The nominee is the daughter of the late F.I Ajumogobia, a former Chief of Mission at UNESCO who died in the ADC flight 086 crash en route Lagos from Port Harcourt on November 7, 1996.

She is married to Yinka Akinkugbe from Ondo State and they are blessed with three children.

The nominee, who is a renowned columnist, has over 23 years of experience in the banking sector having worked at Stanbic IBTC, Barclays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank where she is currently a non-executive director.

She attended the London School of Economics and Political Science and IESE Business School where she bagged an MBA.

Speaking with The Punch, the state Chairman, Ondo Youth Coalition, Ademario Emmanuel, said Ondo had prominent sons and daughters that could take up the appointment.

Emmanuel, who is also the National President, Youth Advancement Initiative, said the appointment would not stand.

He said, “The person that was nominated is not from Ondo State. We are doing more research to know those behind the recommendation of that appointment and we will send a letter to the Presidency and the governor. Ondo State cannot be short-changed and manipulated by some greedy set of persons because of power.

“It is insulting that we have people that can represent this state well in national affairs. Why are they not being given appointment? Ondo State has prominent sons and daughters who are well to do and can represent Nigeria and the state anywhere in the world. This appointment will not stand. When we have made up our mind, we will take the next step.”

Also speaking, the President, Yoruba Afenifere Youth Organisation of Nigeria, Eric Oluwole, called on Buhari to reverse the appointment within 48 hours.

Oluwole said an indigene of Rivers State cannot represent the people of Ondo State.

He added, “We call for the cancellation of Ondo state ambassadorial nominee within 48 hours. Someone cannot be nominated from Rivers State to represent us in Ondo state as an ambassador, when there are many qualified indigenes.

“I urge Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state as a lovely person to play neutral selection on this, I want to believe the nomination was a mistake.”

However, the lawmaker representing Ondo-Central senatorial district, Senator Patrick Akinyelure, said there was nothing wrong with the appointment of Mrs. Akinkugbe as long as the governor supports her.

76-year old American who suffered brain injury is tricked to smuggling cocaine into Spain, faces many years in jail

A 76-year-old American senior citizen, who was jailed in Spain for smuggling 5lbs of cocaine became an unwitting drugs mule after suffering a brain injury, the US said.

Victor Stemberger, from Virginia, is in a Spanish jail a year after flying into the country with cocaine expertly sewn into bubble jackets in a bag.

The US Justice Department has advised Spain it believes Stemberger was duped into acting as a drug mule for a West Africa criminal network.

The family of the former businessman, who suffered a significant brain injury 15 years ago, said he knew nothing about the drugs.

Stemberger was allegedly first reeled into the scam through emails inviting him into a multimillion-dollar business opportunity.

He pitched himself as perfect for the job and boasted of his credentials as 'an experienced businessman who does what he says he will do, and executes flawlessly, according to plan.'

The US has asked Spain for evidence it's gathered, according to correspondence obtained by The Associated Press.

A Vietnam veteran with two master's degrees, Stemberger specialized in corporate executive coaching and prided himself on being a savvy businessman, his son Vic Stemberger said.

But he hasn't been the same since a 2006 brain aneurysm left him with impairments in judgment and critical thinking.

Last July, he traveled to Brazil on a trip that was to take him to Spain and on to Asia.

His contacts told him officials would be visiting his Sao Paolo hotel room to help transfer gifts into luggage.

Stemberger reassured his son over email the work was legitimate: 'Gifts referred to in the message are standard protocol for dealing with government officials in this part of the world. No contraband — be sure of that.'

He was arrested the next day after arriving in Madrid.

As his family works to prove his innocence, even Stemberger, who passed his 50th wedding anniversary in jail, has come around to the idea that he was roped into a scam, his son said.

The younger Stemberger said he understands how extraordinary the saga may sound, joking that if every drug dealer used his father's defense, no one would be in jail.

But, he said, his father was unquestionably duped.

'There was never any attempt to commit a crime,' he said.

Federal officials have for years warned about scams that lure elderly Americans or those with diminished mental capacity into becoming drug couriers.

The scams convince them that they'll receive payouts if they travel or take some other requested action.

The Department of Homeland Security in 2016 said immigration and border authorities had intercepted more than 140 unwitting couriers, some as old as 87, and that over 30 were believed to still be jailed.

'One of the common characteristics that we find in these scams is that oftentimes the senior is living alone, has lost a spouse and is lonely,' said Republican Senator Susan Collins.

She chairs the Senate Committee on Aging and helped secure the release of a Maine man jailed in Spain under similar circumstances as Stemberger.

Stemberger, who marks his one-year anniversary in Spanish detention on July 5, faces a trial next month in Madrid.

His son says the only explanation for his father's actions is that 'these perpetrators really connected with our dad under the veil of what he thought was a legitimate business opportunity.'

'With his diminished mental state, he became the perfect victim of a crime syndicate just like this,' Vic said.

A spokesman for the Madrid judiciary, who agreed to discuss the case only on condition of anonymity, said Stemberger told authorities he had planned to deliver the jackets to United Nations officials in Asia and he didn't know they contained drugs.

Makinde's fav, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin praises Ajimobi as Oyo Assembly holds special sitting for him

Oyo State House Assembly on Tuesday held a special sitting in honour of the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Addressing the Assembly, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin said the news of the death of Ajimobi filtered into the state like a dream.

He said Ajimobi’s death was unexpected and painful because he died at a time his wealth of experience was needed by the nation, especially his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ogundoyin said: “O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? Ajimobi was endowed with supernatural wisdom and intelligence, the virtues which he displayed in the governance of the state in particular and the nation in general.

“He was a statesman of note, as he served as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and governor of Oyo State for two consecutive terms, hence he became the Koseleri governor.

“As the governor, he embarked on infrastructural development across the state.

“ He was an amiable and humorous personality.

“He impacted positively on many lives, especially his political associates.”

The Speaker added that Ajimobi impacted on governance and improved environmental sanitation, especially in Ibadan.

Scientists say there's no evidence the female G-spot exists

It has proved frustratingly elusive for more than 70 years, but scientists say they have finally worked out why men can’t find the ‘G-spot’ – it isn’t there.

Doctors say there’s no proof women have a small, super-sensitive region that could create particularly powerful orgasms when aroused.

The erogenous zone was named after German gynaecologist Ernst Gräfenberg, who first suggested the existence of a dense network of nerve endings in the 1950s. But a new study of 17 middle-aged women has found no evidence of such a spot, but ‘a fairly even distribution’ of nerves instead.

Writing in the International Urogynaecology Journal, a team of medics from Istanbul said the ‘anatomical evidence for the presence of the G spot’ was ‘scant, insufficient and weak’.

Although Dr Gräfenberg – who also invented the IUD coil contraceptive – suggested the existence of the zone, he was too modest to name it after himself.

The expression was coined by American sexologists in the 1980s and quickly gained popularity – as well as spawning a new way of marketing sex toys and treatments.

Even though it had been discussed for decades, the first evidence for the existence of the G-spot came just eight years ago, following the examination of a single 83-year-old woman. The man who published that discovery subsequently invented a procedure dubbed a ‘G-spotplasty’ intended to increase sexual satisfaction, despite scepticism from some colleagues.

Although G-spot therapies have become a multi-million dollar business, Devan Stahl, from Michigan State University, has said there is ‘virtually no evidence that these therapies work outside a placebo effect’.

And those who believe the G-spot is a myth say the notion makes women feel needlessly insecure. A survey for Cosmopolitan magazine found half of women feel inadequate or frustrated feeling others can orgasm in a way they can’t.

It also found that 22 per cent of men said finding the woman’s G-spot is the number one goal of sex.

Since the 2012 report, several other studies have failed to produce conclusive evidence a single G-spot exists.

Teenage climate change activist Greta Thurnberg slams world leaders who only want selfies with her to 'look good'

Greta Thunberg has blasted world leaders who only want selfies with her to 'look good' and alleged they have betrayed future generations on climate change.

The 17-year-old has claimed that Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, had queued up to have a 'selfie' with her at the UN climate change summit in September.

As part of a series she has made about her campaigning for Swedish radio, Thunberg criticised the behaviour of high-ranking figures at the New York summit.

'Presidents, prime ministers, kings and princesses came and wanted to talk to me,' she said. 'They saw me and suddenly saw the chance that they could take a photo with me for their Instagram account. Then the hashtag #savetheplanet.

'It seemed as if they had forgotten for a moment to be ashamed that their generation had let future generations down.'

In follow-up comments made to the BBC, Thunberg, who has more than four million Twitter followers, said she had a 'dislike' for politicians who wanted to capitalise on her fame by being photographed alongside her.

'To be fair, it was not only (Merkel), it was many,' she said.

'And those kinds of things happen all the time. People just want to stand next to me and other climate activists. They can post it on social media and it makes them look good, it makes them seem like they care.'

In January, activist Thunberg was pictured with Prince Charles after he gave a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland - though she claimed she was not referring to the Prince of Wales when making her comments.

She met the Pope at Saint Peter's Square at the Vatican in April 2019.

When asked whether global leaders vying for picture opportunities made her feel 'used', the founder of the Schools Strike for Climate movement said: 'Yes, people definitely see me sometimes as someone to stand next to, to look good, and that is something I really dislike because that's not the sort of person I want to be.'

Thunberg said she was hopeful that the changes made by governments and people across the globe in the face of the pandemic would help to change the perception around the action required to tackle global warming.

The advocate has previously slammed the UK's declining carbon emissions figures as 'creative accounting' and has pushed for firmer action to be taken.

'If anything it (coronavirus) will change the way we perceive and treat crises because it shows that during a crisis you act with necessary force,' she told the BBC.

'And it has also opened up the discussion around how much we value human life.

'For example, people say they are ready to sacrifice the economy. They are saying we will do what it takes because we cannot put a price on a human life.

'If you introduce that logic for the climate, for instance, then that opens up many possibilities and it changes the discussion of the debate.'

Australian woman says rich men are terrible lovers and not worth the comfortable life they offer

A woman has claimed rich men are all "terrible lovers" and says they're not worth the comfortable life they can offer.

Jana Hocking, 34, from Sydney, recently dated an older man who was "very financially comfortable" - owning a Range Rover and "a gorgeous house in the right part of town".

Despite this, the single radio presenter soon saw herself going off the eligible bachelor - despite her friends "gushing at how lucky I was to have found him".

Writing for news.com.au, in a piece called "why rich men are terrible lovers", Jana said the her ex was prepared to settle down and didn't behave badly on boys' nights out.

She added: "I believe the term for a guy like this is a 'unicorn'. They’re almost too good to be true."

But Jana started to realise he was actually "too agreeable".

She said: "I thrive on a good debate and adore hearing someone else’s point of view, but he was just that lovely type of guy who was happy to go along with whatever I thought on the matter. He didn’t really engage."

Jana was left to plan their date nights, trips away and even what they spoke about.

She added: "I woke up one morning and he was staring at me with big puppy dog eyes, waiting for me to tell him what we would be doing that day, and I knew straight away. This was not the man for me.

"I knew that by breaking up with him I wasn’t just giving up a boyfriend, I was giving up a comfortable life...

"I was giving up a beautiful house in exchange for my one-bedroom apartment. I was giving up the opportunity to get married and start a family with a bloke who actually wanted these things. With me.

"Is the financial gain worth just putting up with someone as opposed to being in love with them? Sadly it is not."

Since splitting from this bloke, Jana was left wondering if many dating wealthy suitors are simply taking "the easy road" and getting sucked into the "glitz and glamour" of their lives.
Jana now does a simple test on her dates - by considering if she'd be prepared to sit next to them on a long haul flight.

She said: "It’s a simple question, but if the answer is – they would drive me nuts – then it’s gotta be, 'See ya later'."

We previously revealed how Jana had been called a "slut" but says she'll still "show off my big boobs if I want to".

Drama In Lagos Assembly As Lawmaker Walks Out On Speaker

A Lawmaker representing Lagos Mainland 1 at the Lagos state House of Assembly, Hon. Moshood Oshun has walked out on the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa over allocation of a seat during the plenary session on Tuesday.

The Speaker had directed the Lawmaker to take his allocated seat instead of the one he was sitting on.

Upon this directive, the lawmaker said, he had earlier complained that the seat allocated to him was not convenient.

The Speaker, thereafter, told Oshun, If everyone chooses his or her seat, how would the chamber look.

Obasa, therefore, stated that Oshun should comply with the rule of the House or should take a leave.

At this point, Oshun takes a walk out of the chamber.
