Police Headquarters Withdraws All Policemen At EFCC

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all police operatives serving at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a signal from the Force Headquarters has revealed.

The directive was addressed to the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Police Mobile Force, PMF Squadrons 1 to 79, Force Secretary and Commissioners of Police of all the state commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He also directed that the exact number withdrawn be replaced with new operatives.

According to the order, only staff of EFCC should be allowed access into the premises, while withdrawn police personnel from PMF 21, 44, 45, 46 and 50 must report to the Force Headquarters by 8am on Monday.

Magu was arrested on Monday and has since been facing a presidential investigative panel over alleged corruption and insubordination. He has been detained since his arrest on Monday, at the police facility in Abuja.

On Friday, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, announced the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend Magu from his position to enable “unhindered investigation”.

Magu: Alleged cover-up in EFCC as unknown men attack NFIU office, destroy computers

There is an alleged plot to frustrate the probe of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the ongoing investigation of its suspended chairman, Ibrahim Magu, after some unknown people broke into the office of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and destroyed computers, This Day reports.

The NFIU office which is inside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa was burgled and at least seven computers containing sensitive financial information were taken away and others badly damaged.

The attack is believed to have happened overnight and was discovered Friday morning.

Some NFIU officials on Thursday appeared before the Justice Ayo Salami’s panel, which is investigating allegations against Magu.

It is understood they told the panel that by operational protocols, they don’t go about with sensitive documents. The officials then advised members of the panel to visit their office Friday morning, to sight the documents requested for.

However, before the panel members got to NFIU office in the morning, the room where the documents were kept in computers was broken into.

NFIU was only recently severed and is the agency that investigated all the allegations of financial malfeasance against Magu.

Following the incident, the Director-General of NFIU, Mr. Modibbo Hamman-Tukur, met with President Muhammadu Buhari to report the incident, a situation sources said, resulted in the president’s decision to approve Magu’s suspension.

Online retailer is slammed for selling Islamic prayer mats as ornamental pieces [reactions and photos]

Shein has come under fire for selling Islamic prayer mats featuring Muslim imagery and calling them 'fringe trim carpets,' prompting the online retailer to pull the items and issue an apology.

Critics have taken to social media over the past week to share images of the 'disrespectful' rugs while accusing the fast-fashion brand of cultural appropriation and demanding the offending items be removed from the site.

Instagram user @s.khadija.r called for a boycott of the e-retailer while pointing out that some of the carpets feature prints of Kaaba, a building in the center of Mecca that is considered the most sacred site in Islam.

One $17 rug depicting an image of Kaaba was described as the 'Fringe Trim Greek Fret Carpet,' while others were decorated with mosques and various Arabic motifs.

The 'Flower Print Tassel Trim Carpet,' which retailed for $10, had a print that of a mihrab — a niche in the wall of a mosque where the congregation faces to pray.

'I am disgusted. I am livid. @sheinofficial is also PROFITING off Muslim prayer mats (janemaz/sajadah) by selling them as "fringe trim carpets" for people to use casually around the house. A few have the Kaaba printed on them. THIS IS HIGHLY OFFENSIVE,' the Instagram user wrote.

'Not only is it disrespectful but they once again renamed and stole credit from a whole faith this time, by failing to label it as a Muslim prayer mat, which allows people to use it casually as a decorative mat.'

She explained that a prayer mat is 'an important piece of fabric, used by Muslims, placed between the ground and the worshipper during their five daily prayers.'

'It is NOT a carpet and must be treated with respect and you don’t ever wear shoes on it,' she stressed. It's important for us to acknowledge the disrespect that is committed here, and that action must be taken to remove this product from their line.'

She encouraged her followers to boycott the company, send emails, and raise awareness on social media.

Magu's Family Cries Out As Police Withdraw His Security

Security officials around the embattled acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, have been withdrawn.

All vehicles in the official house in Maitama were also driven away before the weekend.

Mr Magu was arrested on Monday and has since been facing a presidential investigative panel over alleged corruption and insubordination. He has been detained since his arrest on Monday, at the police facility in Abuja.

On Friday, the ministry of justice announced the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend Mr Magu from his position to enable “unhindered investigation”.

A source in the family who asked not to be named confirmed to PT that the policemen were withdrawn from the two houses.

“We are seriously concerned about the personal security of his (Mr Magu’s) immediate family. They have literally being thrown to the hyenas, knowing fully well the dangers,” the source said.

The source said the family is worried that in view of the “enemies” garnered by Mr Magu on account of his work, his life and that of his family members are in danger without adequate security cover.

My Client Hushpuppi Was Kidnapped By FBI - Lawyer Pissetzky

Ray Hushpuppi, a Nigerian accused of multimillion-dollar fraud and money laundering by the United States was kidnapped by the FBI from Dubai, his lawyer says.

Ramon Olorunwa Abbas - known to many Nigerians as Hushpuppi - and another cyber-heist suspect Olalekan Jacob Ponle (aka Mr Woodberry) were arrested in Dubai, where they lived, in June.

They then appeared in a Chicago court on 3 July.

The United Arab Emirates has no extradition treaty with the United States but Dubai police said they had been extradited to the US.

A spokesman for the US Department of Justice told the BBC that Hushpuppi was expelled from Dubai and was not extradited. He did not answer how he ended up in US custody.

What does Hushpuppi's lawyer say?
Mr Abbas' lawyer Gal Pissetzky told the BBC that his client, who posts on Instagram about his extravagant lifestyle, was not a criminal and had made his money legitimately.

"He is a social media influencer with millions of followers, with millions of people that respect and loved him, and he loved them, and that's what he did. In today's society, that's a business," he said.

Mr Pissetzky admits that he is not "100% familiar" with social media and his children consider him too old but he knows "that's how people make money today".

The Chicago defence lawyer's argument that Hushpuppi was paid by designer brands for promotion has set the stage for what promises to be a long trial in American courts.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) accuses Mr Abbas, 37, of conspiring to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from frauds known as Business Email Compromise (BEC) and other scams.

Did the US act legally?
It is the latest high-profile fraud case involving a Nigerian national in the United States but his lawyer says the US had no authority to transport him from Dubai.

"In my opinion, the FBI and the government here acted illegally when they kidnapped him from Dubai without any legal process to do so," Mr Pissetzky told the BBC.

"There was no extradition, there were no legal steps taken, there were no court documents filed, it was simply a call to the FBI. He is not a citizen of the United States, the US had absolutely no authority to take him," his lawyer says.

But the Dubai police said in a Facebook post that the FBI director had thanked them for extraditing the two men.

"You'll have to ask them about why they called it an extradition," the US Department of Justice (DoJ) spokesman responded in an email.

In a statement about Mr Abbas' initial court appearance, the DoJ said "FBI special agents earlier this week obtained custody of Abbas and brought him to the United States" without giving any further details.

Mr Pissetzky is not convinced.
"If Dubai wanted to expel him, they should have expelled him back to Nigeria. I've never heard of anything like that. That is the real story here."

Offa bank robbery suspect narrates how police killed his colleagues

One of the suspects on April 5, 2018, Offa bank robbery, Azeez Salawu, yesterday told the court in Ilorin, Kwara state, how six suspects were killed in his presence by the policemen in Abuja.

Azeez gave graphic details of how he was being tortured in “Generator house” at police headquarters in Abuja with tyre hung on his neck and his two hands tied to the back, and his body was hung within two main planks amid heavy beating before they shot dead six persons in his presence.

All the accused; Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salahudeen Azeez, and Niyi Ogundiran were present in court yesterday.

Salawu who denied the statement credited to him said that the policemen interrogating him did that purposely to coerce him to admit his alleged participation in the bank robbery attacks in Offa, where 18 people, including policemen, were reportedly killed.

This is even as defense counsel, Mathias Emeribe, prayed the court to order the exhumation of the corpse of a principal suspect in the robbery, Michael Adikwu, who allegedly died in police custody in Abuja in order to confirm the cause of his death.

This, he said, is necessary to determine whether the cause of Adikwu’s death is natural or otherwise.

He said that attempts by the prosecution to impress it on the court that there are only five suspects in the case amount to suppression of facts.

Emeribe recalled that when the case first came up in October 2018, six suspects were listed on the charge sheet, including Michael Adikwu, who the police later claimed to have died in their custody.

“Suppression of fact is a fundamental issue in criminal law that should not be swept under carpet” He A male child has been recovered dead, while six adults have been rescued alive after a three-storey building collapsed in Lagos Island.

They shot dead the five persons in my presence. They also shot Akinnibosun, Adeola, and Ogunleye on the legs in my presence. They threatened to kill me but I started begging that I didn’t do anything wrong.

“They said I and Ogunleye robbed at Offa and I denied this but they insisted. They beat me mercilessly inside a generator house, otherwise called theatre. It’s a lie that they interrogated me in a conducive environment.

“On the second day, I was brought out again from the cell. They showed a man to me and asked me whether I know him. The man is Michael Adikwu. I said I don’t know him. They also asked him whether he knows me but he replied no. They killed him in my presence.

“I pleaded with them not to kill me because my children are still young. They tied me down and hanged me again. I then asked them what they wanted from me when the torture became unbearable”, he said.

Salawu further claimed that he was forced to thumbprint a statement already prepared by the police against his consent.

The prosecution counsel, Abdulwahab Egbewole (SAN), said that contradictions in the dates when the suspects claimed they were interrogated and the police records showed that they were only cooking up stories about their alleged torture and coercion.

He, therefore, urged the court to admit the confessional statements by the suspects.

The judge, Justice Halimat Salman adjourned the case till July 22, when the main trial will commence.

Harvard University moves classes online for next academic year but fees stay the same at $50,000

Harvard University has announced that all learning for the next academic year will be done remotely - but says tuition will remain at nearly $50,000.

The announcement came as federal immigration authorities say international students will be forced to leave the US if their schools offer classes entirely online this fall.

In a statement released by the university, officials said 'all course instruction (undergraduate and graduate) for the 2020-21 academic year will be delivered online'.

Harvard said it will invite first-year students to live on campus, but classes will stay online.

'Students will learn remotely, whether or not they live on campus,' school administrators said.

The university said that it will bring up to 40 per cent of undergraduates to campus, including all first-year students, for the fall semester.

'Assuming that we maintain 40% density in the spring semester, we would again bring back one class, and our priority at this time is to bring seniors to campus,' the statement reads.

'We also will invite back to campus those students who may not be able to learn successfully in their current home learning environment.'

Unlike Harvard, Princeton University is offering a 10 per cent discount to students since classes are mostly online. Harvard's tuition will remain the same.

Meanwhile, international students have been targeted by new federal guidelines that were issued on Monday, requiring them to leave the US if their schools offer classes entirely online.

Those attending schools that are staying online must 'depart the country or take other measures, such as transferring to a school with in-person instruction,' according to the guidance.

The guidelines, issued by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), provide additional pressure for universities to reopen even amid growing concerns about the recent spread of COVID-19 among young adults.

President Donald Trump has insisted that schools and colleges return to in-person instruction as soon as possible.

Soon after the guidance was released, Trump repeated on Twitter that schools must reopen this fall, adding that Democrats want to keep schools closed 'for political reasons, not for health reasons'.

'They think it will help them in November. Wrong, the people get it!' Trump wrote.

Under the updated rules, international students must take at least some of their classes in person.

New visas will not be issued to students at schools or programs that are entirely online. And even at colleges offering a mix of in-person and online courses this fall, international students will be barred from taking all their classes online.

It creates an urgent dilemma for thousands of international students who became stranded in the US last spring after the coronavirus forced their schools to move online.

COVID-19: Drama as Obasanjo locks out mourners at in-law’s burial

There was a mild drama in Isara Remo, Ogun East Senatorial District yesterday as former President Olusegun Obasanjo locked mourners outside during the burial of his mother in-law.

The move was in ex-President’s strict enforcement of the Covid-19 protocols regarding safe physical distance and minimum number of persons permissible in an enclosed space.

At the St. Peter’s Anglican Church (Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion) Diocese of Remo, Isara Remo, Ogun State venue of the Order of Service for the remains of his mother in-law, Mrs Florence Mopelola Adenekan, Obasanjo manned the church’s enhance door and ensured that the approved limit of those to be allowed in was strictly adhered to.

The former President ordered many of the mourners who wanted to be part of the funeral service to go back and personally shut the Church doors against them as the service presided over by the Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos and Bishop of Remo Diocese, Most Rev Dr Matthew Olusina Fape, commenced at about 10.30 am.

Some of the elder statesman’s close aides and associates were not spared – they too were also locked outside despite having their face masks on.

The late Mrs Adenekan was the mother of Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo. She died on April 17, 2020; two days before her 90th birthday.

The nonagenarian was interred at the church cemetery located behind the church with Obasanjo leading the family of his in-laws to perform the dust-to-dust rites.

Mrs Obasanjo was absent at the ceremony, as she was said to have travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) and could not make it.

The former President later paid homage to the four traditional rulers at Ode and Isara communities in company with his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, among others.

The visited monarchs include Oba Mukaila Akanbi Olabinjo (Isara); the Iraye Remo, Oba Samuel Olatunji Kalejaiye; the Eleposo Eposo Ode Remo, Oba Albert Adebose Mayungbe and the Alaye Ode, Oba (Suvr.) Adetunji Osho.

Oba Osho said Obasanjo had demonstrated “how true and respected Yoruba son he is by visiting their domains despite coming on personal engagement to the area.

“We shall continue to learn from your wisdom. The entire people of Ode is proud and appreciate this visit,” the traditional ruler said.

Man stabbed pregnant ex-girlfriend to death and killed their baby in jealous rage

A man has been found guilty of the murder of his heavily pregnant ex-girlfriend and the manslaughter of their baby son.

Aaron McKenzie, 26, of Peckham, south London, broke into Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle’s bedroom in the middle of the night and stabbed her 21 times as her family slept upstairs, the Old Bailey heard.

The former couple’s son Riley was delivered by an emergency Caesarean – seven weeks before his due date – but died on a ventilator in hospital four days later.

The crane driver was convicted of the murder of Ms Fauvrelle, 26, the manslaughter of their baby son and the possession of an offensive weapon by a jury and will be sentenced at the same court on Friday, 17 July.

The ‘vicious and cowardly’ attack came after his ex told him she was ‘moving on’ from their ‘toxic’ relationship and seeing someone new, the prosecution said.

The defendant denied all charges, claiming another man who his ex-girlfriend owed money to was responsible.

Jurors deliberated for a total of two hours, 46 minutes to reach their verdicts.

Police were called to reports of an injured pregnant woman at a residential address at Thornton Heath at 3.30am on Saturday, 29 June 2019.

Medics from LAS and London’s Air Ambulance battled to save Ms Fauvrelle’s life, but she passed away at the scene.

In the wake of the attack, McKenzie pretended to have nothing to do with it and ‘posed as a victim’ at the hospital where medical staff were trying to save the life of his child, Prosecutor Duncan Penny QC said.

The defendant allegedly lied to police and did not tell them that he had spent over an hour before the killing accessing and reading his ex-partner’s emails.

He took a driving lesson hours after he attacked his former partner, the Old Bailey heard on July 1.

The crane driver was accused of continuing to deceive police, hospital staff and Ms Fauvrelle’s family until he was arrested.

He had admitted, via his solicitor, responsibility for the deaths saying: ‘No one else was involved in this. There was no reason for it other than my faults.’

McKenzie later claimed he had confessed to the offences while he was under pressure.

Detectives extensively looked into his claim that another man was responsible, but no evidence was discovered to corroborate this new account, or to indicate that the ‘new suspect’ who was partially named existed.

Claire Mays, from the CPS, said: ‘This was a vicious and cowardly attack on a heavily pregnant woman, which was borne out of jealousy. Aaron McKenzie murdered his ex-girlfriend and in turn also killed their child Riley.

‘Just hours after carrying out the attack, McKenzie went for a driving lesson as if nothing had happened.

‘The prosecution evidence included a confession McKenzie had made to police officers taking responsibility for the killings before he decided to change his story and blame his actions on his learning difficulties and depression.

‘By choosing to take this tragic case to trial McKenzie took the family of his victim through the heartbreak and ordeal of listening to all of his lies and the damning evidence against someone who had once been a part of their family.

‘Although nothing can bring back Kelly and Riley, I hope these convictions provide some comfort to the family. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.’.

How we terrorized residents of Ibadan, Lagos, killed two persons — Suspect

At 23, Enioluwa Adedayo, popularly known as Judgement, had made himself a dreaded armed robber terrorizing residents of Ibadan, Oyo State, and parts of Lagos State as he brazenly robbed people on his motorbike at the early hours of the day and evenings. Judgment was so feared because he always killed any of his victims who dared to resist him.

The suspect, who started as a motorcycle thief in 2016 and grew into a notorious armed robber in 2018, had lost count of the number of armed robberies he took part in.

He however met his Waterloo in the hands of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, deployed to Ibadan Oyo State, to combat the rising spate of armed robbery in the state.

It was gathered that the IRT operatives, in Oyo State got information about Judgment’s activities in March 2020 after he and members of his gang attempted to rob a popular supermarket in Mokoya area of Ibadan and had a shootout with some soldiers on patrol. Judgment was said to have sustained injuries during the operation but he managed to escape from the scene.

The operatives who learnt that Judgment and his gang had been terrorizing residents of the state for a long time unchallenged therefore launched a manhunt for him.

After some months of searching, they caught him in the home of his girlfriend where he was receiving treatment. Judgment then led the operatives to arrest one of his gang members identified as Sunday Olubushe.

A source who gave Saturday Vanguard an insight into the criminal activities of Judgment said; “the three-man armed robbery gang had been terrorizing residents of Ibadan, Osun, and Lagos for a long time operating with motorcycles.

“The gang was led by Enioluwa Adedayo Alias Judgment, while Tunde Kasari was his second in command.

‘We have been on their trail for some time but in late March 2020, they went for a robbery operation at a supermarket at Mokoya area of Ibadan and before they got to Mokoya, Kasari had robbed a man of his handset.

“That was what drew the attention of some soldiers to them. When the soldiers accosted them, they had an exchange of fire but escaped from the scene on the motorbikes that brought them.

“Judgement went into hiding at his girlfriend’s house and we got information about him, we arrested his girlfriend who led us to him and we arrested him and recovered a locally made pistol and an expended cartridge.

“His arrest also led us to Sunday Olubushe also known as Ajegunle. In the course of our investigation, we discovered that after robbing victims of their phones, they would remove the sim cards and give it to one Sherif, who would then use the sim cards to hack into the victims’ bank accounts and steal their money.

“They would go out to rob at 5 am. Judgment and his gang stayed in a hotel in Ibadan from where they launched their attacks”.

In his confession, Judgment, a native of Osun State but who was born in Amuloko area of Ibadan, narrated his robbery operations:

“I started riding commercial motorcycle after I left secondary school and in the process, I met one Lekan also known as Corporal, who introduced me into armed robbery.

“We started by stealing motorcycles from where they were parked at night and we would sell them to our buyers. I stole so many bikes within Ibadan with Corporal within a year, before we switched into full time armed robbery.

“Our first armed robbery after we bought our guns was in Ikeri area of Osun State. We went to rob a man who we learned had a huge sum of money in his house.

“Six of us went for the operation with two motorcycles. Unfortunately for us we didn’t succeed in robbing the man as people in that area were quickly alerted and they chased us.

“I broke my leg in that operation and I was arrested and taken to the station, where I spent close to one month. I was later released when the pain from my injured leg was too severe and the people who took me to the station were not forthcoming.

“My gang members were taking care of me and would bring my own share of any money they made from their operations. I rejoined the gang when I fully recovered and we started doing ‘stop and search’.

“Whenever we saw people walking on the road we would stop them and search them with our guns and would take any valuable we found on them.

“We did this in the morning and in the evening all over Ibadan. In 2018, we got information of a house around airport area where the owner has huge amount of money.

“We mobilized and moved to the house but when we got there the owner of the house used a big iron to hit me on my head and I fell down and started bleeding.

“I then asked my boys to hold the man to the ground and I used a machete found in the man’s house and hacked the man to death. We were forced to abandon the operation as the man raised so much alarm and we left without getting the money we went looking for.

“The second person I killed was in March 2020. We attacked a woman running a beer parlor around 11pm in Ojo area. We were on ‘stop and search’ when we saw the woman trying to close for the day.

“We entered her shop, pointed a gun at her, and ordered everyone in the shop to lie on the ground. One of my boys known as Tunde grabbed the woman’s bag from her and when we were about leaving the woman switched off the light in her shop, poured drinks on my face, and held me and was trying to prevent me from escaping.

“I got infuriated and I opened fire on her and killed her on the spot. I also carried out some armed robbery activities in Lagos State. I did ‘stop and search’ in Lagos and robbed people of their valuables.

“In cases where we collected victims’ mobile phones and their ATM cards, we gave them to our internet banking hackers who would use the ATM and mobile phone to steal all the money in the victims’ bank accounts.

“I used to make close to N70,000 or N80,000 on each of my operation, but I spent all the money on women, clothes, and hotels. I don’t have a house,

“I stayed in hotels and the operators thought that I was an internet fraudster because of the way I was spending money in hotels. I regret all I have done and I hope the police will forgive me and give me a second chance”, he pleaded.

Jada Pinkett Smith confirms romance with August Alsina but says she and Will were separated at the time

Jada Pinkett Smith confirmed Friday that she had a romantic relationship with singer August Alsina but explained that it happened while she was separated from longtime husband Will Smith.

“We decided we were going to separate for a period of time, and you go figure out how to make yourself happy, and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy,” Will said on an episode of Jada’s Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk.

Jada had previously denied through her rep that she had a relationship with Alsina, after he said they did on an episode of The Breakfast Club.

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership, that they have spoken on several times, not involving romanticism,” he said. “He actually gave me his blessing.”

Alsina said he had “lost money, friendships and relationships” because people thought he had done something wrong in romancing Jada. He had also endured serious heartbreak.

The actress now explained that when she met Alsina about four years ago, they were initially just “really, really good friends.” In fact, Alsina was close with the entire Smith family, and he turned to them while struggling with addiction.

During the same period, Jada noted, she and Will, her husband since 1997, were “going through a really difficult time.”

Will then joked, “I was done with your a**.”
At one point, Will joked that he felt like the husband standing by his wife during the press conference.

Jada said she understood that, but she didn’t believe she had done anything wrong.

“I definitely understand why it would look that way or feel that way, but I actually don’t look at it as a transgression at all,” she said. “Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity, and I was really able to do some really deep healing. And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I, he decided to break all communication with me, which was totally understandable. And I let that be and hadn’t talked to him since, so it is a little weird that all this stuff is coming out now.”

Reps ask FG to reverse decision on 2020 WASSCE

The House Committee on Basic Education and Services on Friday said the 2020 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) should not be cancelled in Nigeria.

The Chairman of the committee, Julius Ihonvbere (APC-Edo), made the committee’s position known in a statement in Abuja.

Mr Ihonvbere, a professor, said the committee was amazed at the announcement by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, where he stated that Nigerian students would not be participating in the 2020 WASSCE.

The lawmaker said the minister did not inform the country if the position was in agreement with other West African leaders or in consultation with the examination bodies, the state governments and other stakeholders in the education sector.

Mr Ihonvbere said he recalled that the minister of state for education had on several occasions during live press conferences by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, assured Nigerians that all steps were being taken to ensure full compliance with all COVID-19 protocols in schools.

“This sudden policy reversal is not good for the country; it is bound to create further confusion in the education sector, create disappointment and suspicion among parents, and frustrate the students.

“It would show our development partners and Nigerians that the distortions and disarticulations in the sector are only getting worse.

“The reversal also shows that our policy makers may just be adopting a laid-back approach to the need to confront the novel coronavirus rather than taking proactive and creative steps to manage and contain it,” he said.
