Lady crushed to death in Lagos few months to her wedding

A beautiful Nigerian lady Immaculate Okochu has been crushed to death in Lagos by a truck just hours after she posted an ominous note on her Facebook page.

Okochu, who was planning to wed in October, was the store manager of Cold Stone Creamery Nigeria in Apapa.

On 11 August, she plastered several photos of herself and wrote: “Been a while you saw me”.

It proved to be her dreamy way of saying goodbye, like Jesus of Nazareth.

Her last post before then was on 6 July when she offered some apparels for sale and asked her fans to DM her.

On 12 August, she also posted a selfie, wearing a yellow dress as she left her home.

She didn’t return home.

Her Facebook page has been inundated with condolences by her fans and relations.

Idongesit Obot wrote: “Hmmmmmmm it’s really well o, rest in peace dear, only God can console your family, I don’t know you, but I heard the incident yesterday from my friend ..

What a life!!!!!!”.

Tozzmann Young Flex also wrote: Rest In Peace Immaculate Okochu.

Lai Mohammed justifies N5 million hate speech fine

The Federal Government has explained that any speech, broadcast, or publication that denigrates a person, a group of people on the basis of their sex, religion, political belief, or origin is hate speech”.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave the explanation on Thursday when he appeared on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

“Any broadcast or publication that tends to erode social cohesion that is an attack on our inclusion and common value is hate speech.

“Those who go to television and denigrate one person or the other with a view to cause social disharmony have breached the hate speech code.

“They know what they are doing, and they must be made to pay for it,” the minister said while justifying the increase of hate speech fine from N500,000 to N5 million in the amended National Broadcasting Code.

The minister said the fine was raised for national security and to serve as deterrent to those bent on destabilising the country through the use of fake news and hate speech.

“No country is going to sit down and fold its arms and be destroyed by fake news or hate speech especially in Nigeria where we are divided along ethnicity, religion and culture.

“In practice what we found was that when the fine for hate speech was just half a million, people were reckless because they could easily pay the half a million fine.

“As a matter of fact, our findings shows that when people take advert to broadcast houses and the broadcast houses refused the advert on ground that if they air them they will be fined half a million Naira, the purveyor of hate speech will say, don’t worry, we will pay you N1 million extra.

‘With the N5 million we want to see whether they will add another N10 million to their advert rate.

“For us, it is very practical and for those who said it is primitive, we disagree with them because we want to safe Nigeria from purveyors of hate speech,’ he said.

Three Nigerians charged in U.S. with $16.4m tax fraud

Three Nigerians, Francis Nwabueze Iwuoha, 38, Oluwadamilare Gbenga Macaulay, 32, and Olufemi Oluwaseun Banjo, 37, who is also known as “Femi Banjo.”face felony charges in the United States for their alleged involvement in a scheme to steal income tax refunds using identity theft.

Two of the Nigerians, Banjo and Iwuoha are based in Lagos, while Macaulay is based in Abuja.

U.S. Attorney Erica H. MacDonald announced on Wednesday that the three defendants, who are now fugitives, have been charged with wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and conspiracy related to the alleged scheme.

According to the allegations in the indictments, from approximately March 2016, through approximately February 2018, BANJO, IWUOHA, and MACAULAY, gained unauthorised access to internet accounts of thousands of individual victims to steal Personal Identifying Information (PII) and IRS W-2 Forms, which they used to file false tax returns in the names of the individual victims seeking fraudulent refunds.

As part of the scheme, BANJO, IWUOHA, MACAULAY, and others gained unauthorised access to approximately 1,200 individuals’ accounts maintained by a Minnesota-based company that provides human resource and payroll services to numerous businesses.

The accounts were registered with a web-based program that allowed employees to download a copy of their IRS Form W-2 from an internet portal. After fraudulently obtaining PII and tax information from the accounts, BANJO, IWUOHA, MACAULAY, and others used the information to prepare and electronically file fraudulent tax returns with the IRS.

As part of the scheme, BANJO, IWUOHA, MACAULAY, and others also gained unauthorised access to individuals’ accounts maintained by the Department of Education by exploiting an online tool that facilitates the transfer of individuals’ PII and tax information from the IRS website to the Department of Education.

The defendants used the stolen information to prepare and electronically file fraudulent tax returns with the IRS. As a result of the scheme, BANJO, IWUOHA, MACAULAY, and others attempted to claim a total of approximately $16.4 million in fraudulent tax refunds.

“These cases are the result of an investigation conducted by the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division, the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Inspector General, and the FBI”, Erica MacDonald said.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Julie E. Allyn and Angela M. Munoz are prosecuting the cases.

“We remain optimistic that the defendants will have their date in court in the U.S., but we can’t get into further detail with respect to our apprehension efforts,” U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Tasha Zerna told The Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Nurse reveals how she leaves her marriage to sleep with other men just to spice up her s.e.x life

A nurse has revealed how she escapes her "boring" marriage to have an affair with married men.

Chloe, 32, wants to "play the field" in her 30s after marrying her childhood sweetheart and settling down too young.

The mum-of-two began cheating on her husband to inject some passion into her life.

She's been with her partner since she was 16 and admits their sex has become less adventurous.

The key worker had her first affair with Sean, a married insurance executive in his mid-30s who lives in London with his wife.

Chloe met him on IllicitEncounters.com, the UK's leading affairs website.

She said: "I had just a bit bored and thought there must be more to life than this.

"I had been with my husband since we were at school. We had grown apart and were very different people in many ways.

"He just wants to do the same things all the time and has become very settled in his way whereas I'm looking for new experiences.

"We have got two children together so I'm not necessarily looking to leave my husband.

"That would be a step too far. I just want a bit of excitement."

She explained: "He was in a similar position to me and was looking for a discreet affair.

"I had been unfaithful to my husband before then – largely one-night-stands after meeting guys in nightclubs or bars.

"But this was the first time I'd had a full-on affair.

"He travelled up from London and we would meet for a drink and then go to the hotel for sex.

"It was nice to once again experience the rush you get when you are dating someone for the very first time."

Chloe continued: "I have just been going through the motions when it comes to sex with my husband.

"I would make a special effort with Sean and the sex is so much more fulfilling and exciting than at home."

But the key worker was forced to end things with Sean in March this year when she discovered his wife was pregnant.

Chloe did begin to have a second affair with another married man at the start of this year.

However, their romance fizzled out when the nurse was reluctant to break social distancing rules to put her patients at risk.

She detailed: "I got together with him for the same reason I did with Sean – it was exciting to be dating someone new.

"We had sex a few times and it was fun. My problem was that I settled down too young. I never played the field when I was younger.

"I stopped dating for a few months because everything was so hectic at work and we needed to follow the rules.

"Now that the Covid crisis has eased I am going to start dating again. I am looking forward to seeing someone new."

Jessica Leoni, IllicitEncounters.com sex and relationship expert, said: "Women in particular join the site because they want sex and excitement but they don’t want a divorce."

Joe Biden picks Kamala Harris as his running mate

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has named Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate – the first black woman and Asian American in the role.

Once a rival for the top job, the California senator of Indian-Jamaican heritage had long been considered the front-runner for the number two slot.

The former California attorney general has been urging police reform amid nationwide anti-racism protests.

Mr Biden will face President Donald Trump in the election on 3 November.

At a White House news conference on Tuesday, Mr Trump, a Republican, described Ms Harris as “my number one draft pick”.

Ms Harris will debate Mr Trump’s running mate, Vice-President Mike Pence, on 7 October in Salt Lake City, Utah.

IG threatens N10bn lawsuit against Sowore, Sahara reporters over Nasarawa police training school

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has described as false a media report accusing him of illegally raising funds to build a police training school in Nasarawa State.

Denying the August 3, 2020 report published by SaharaReporters, the IG, through his lawyer, Dr Alex Izinyon (SAN), threatened to file a N10bn suit against the online platform and its publisher, Mr Omoyele Sowore.

Titled, ‘Re: Defamatory publication against Mr Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni (current Inspector-General of Police): Demand for retraction and unequivocal apology’, Izinyon, in the August 6, 2020 pre-action letter addressed to the United States of America address of SaharaReporters and Sowore, also threatened to file a criminal complaint against them with relevant government agencies.

Izinyon said the IG had given SaharaReporters and Sowore only seven days to tender “a written and unequivocal retraction with an apology carried with the same prominence on their platform and three national dailies,” failing which he would head for court.

Izinyon stated in the letter, “Our client hastened to inform you that these defamatory words in your said publications are farrago of lies, concoctions all calculated by you to bring our client to the lowest contempt as they are a product of you and your online publication to achieve your premeditated blackmail, dubious and diabolical ends.

“We would not waste our energy here but reserve it for the appropriate time.”

Woman LISTS 20 non-negotiable things couples must agree on before marriage

When it comes to marriage, there's a lot of things you should know about your partner before tying the knot.

Making sure you're both on the same page about things could promise a happy and healthy future relationship.

So one woman has revealed an important list of topics you must discuss with your partner before even thinking about a wedding.

A third agreed: "I seriously love this. You mentioned so many points that are beneficial to a relationship that so many people miss going over before getting married."

The woman's list of 20 things to discuss before marriage:

1. Talk about debt

2. Fully and willingly committing to one another : The woman said there shouldn't be "what ifs" and "it's not the right time", you're either in or you're out.

3. When/how many kids you both want – Adoption? Are one of you infertile?

4. STDs: She added: "Get checked. Seek medical help/informed professional knowledge. Keep those tests up to date and find ways to do so even within the marriage."

5. Talk about your 5-10 year timeline regarding career/education: The woman said: "Can you move? Willingness to relocate? Etc."

6. Religion: The Twitter user said it's important to be open to growth, adding: "Do you share fundamental CORE beliefs about life? Very important."

13. Boundaries when it comes to the opposite sex: The woman says to ask each other what's not okay, like hugs, handshakes, etc.

14. Social media: She explained: "Believe it or not, people WILL break up over this. Some prefer privacy. Some not. Get on the same page or you'll be clowning on one another."

15. Savings: Under this point, the woman said: "How much do y'all have earned and combined? How much are your intended salaries? Is it sustainable? Apartment? House? Condo? Speak futuristically if it's not something you can afford right now. Get on the same page."

16. What is cheating? Have this conversation to outline what you both consider as infidelity.

17. Physical and verbal abuse: She said: "What is and isn't considered abusive language and decorum? Seek help, please. Professionals can always step in."

18. What are your dying wishes? The woman added: "Burial proceedings? What if one of you becomes paralysed? God parents? Uncertain events? Death? Speak it. Speak on all of it."

19. LOVE is not what keeps the relationship going: While it's important to love, the woman noted it's important to get out the princess-king happily ever after mindset.

20. Education doesn't matter: The woman's final point is to discuss education because "none of this matters in the long run". She continued: "Trust. You aren't a good person based off superficial attributes."

Report reveals seabirds FECES is worth millions of dollars

Bird poop is said to be good luck, but a new study suggests it is worth much more.

A new report calculates that feces from seabirds, like Seagulls and pelicans, is worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

Formally known as guano, the waste is used in commercial fertilizer and nutrients found in the 'white gold' contributes to the health of coastal and marine life.

Scientists suggest the new findings could save gulls, pelicans, penguins and other species of conservation concern.

Ecologist Professor Marcus Cianciaruso, of the Federal University of Goias, Brazil, described the result as 'staggering'.

'Guano production is a service made by seabirds at no cost to us,' he said.

'I can go to an island, collect the guano, and sell it at market price as fertilizer.'

Cianciaruso and his team set out to raise awareness of how crucial seabirds and their habitats are by investigating the cost of their declining populations by calculating the value of these birds' waste.

Researchers estimate seabird poop generates more than $473 million each year and the amount could be more.

'Because there is this scientific and biological importance, it's possible to quantify seabird ecosystem services in a language that the general public and policymakers can begin to understand,' said Cianciaruso.

There is only a handful of seabird species that produce guano for commercial use, with a majority of them residing in Peru, Chile.

The team wrote in the study published in Trends in Ecology & Evolution that seabirds poop acts as nature's of returning nutrients back and forth 'between marine and terrestrial habitats,' wrote Cianciaruso and his coauthor, Daniel Plazas-Jiménez, a doctoral student at the Federal University of Goiás.

'They release high concentrations of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) through their faeces, causing important environmental changes in these ecosystems,' reads the study.

Plazas-Jiménez said: 'We made a very conservative estimate that 10% of coral reef fish stocks depend on seabird nutrients.'

'According to the United Nations and the Australian government, the annual economic returns of commercial fisheries on coral reefs is over $6 billion.

'So, 10 percent of this value is around $600 million per year.'

Combining these values with the estimated guano amount of nearly $474 million, the value of seabird poop increases to an $1 billion.

UNILAG names Theophilus Soyombo new Ag. VC

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Governing Council has named Prof. Theophilus Soyombo as Ag. Vice Chancellor to replace Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who was removed on Wednesday over allegations of misconduct and others.

Soyombo’s appointment was announced in a statement by the Registrar and Secretary to Council Oladejo Azeez, who also noted that Ogundipe was lawfully removed by Council.

Ogundipe had described his removal as null and void, saying it did not follow the process for removal as contained in Section 17 of the University of Lagos Act.

However Azeez noted the Council decided on Soyombo, who is of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the same meeting where Ogundipe was removed.

The statement reads: “My attention has been drawn to a document circulating under the hand and signature of the former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS. The letter purports to deny his removal by the Governing Council of University at its Emergency Meeting of Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I am in my capacity as Registrar and Secretary to Council the only custodian of the minutes of Council and the authorising officer on behalf of Council to issue official statements pertaining to all Council Affairs.

“Members of the public are hereby advised to totally disregard the statement attributed to the said former Vice Chancellor. The position remains that he was lawfully removed by the Governing Council at a meeting fully attended by all Council members.

“I also wish to use the opportunity to inform members of the public that Council at the said meeting duly appointed Professor Theophilus Omololu Soyombo of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos as Vice Chancellor of the University in an Acting Capacity.”

Send old generation out of power, Obasanjo tells Youths

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has asked African youths to dislodge the older generation from leadership positions.

Obasanjo urged the youths to participate actively in the activities of political parties to take over the structure from them.

Obasanjo said this on Wednesday while delivering a keynote address at an interactive session held virtually to mark this year’s International Youth Day.

The programme was organised by the Youth Development Centre, an arm of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Participants were drawn from Nigeria, Mali, USA, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

According to him, unless older people are forced out of the political stage, they will continue to occupy the leadership positions to the detriment of the youths.

“Unless you squeeze out those who are in the office and those who want to remain in office perpetually, some after the age of 80, unless you squeeze them out, they will not want to be out.

“The type of change I am talking about, that I believe we can all embark upon is to subscribe to the constitution of political parties in favour of youths. Or if you like it, you call it affirmative action in favour of youths. For instance, if you say, in the constitution of a political party, not less than 50 per cent of those who hold executive office within the party will be less than 40 years,” .

Aug. 24 officially declared "Kobe Bryant Day" in California

Orange County supervisors have voted to officially declare Aug. 24 as "Kobe Bryant Day" in the Southern California county where the late NBA legend made his home.

Aug. 24 was chosen because Bryant was born Aug. 23, 1978, and he also wore the numbers 8 and 24 during his career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bryant died back in January when his helicopter crashed into a Calabasas hillside en route to a youth basketball tournament. The Lakers legend, his daughter Gianna, and seven others were tragically killed in the crash.

"Kobe Bryant Day" was suggested by Orange County Board chairwoman Michelle Steel. Steel mentioned that Bryant was a "treasured member of our community," and "inspired so many men and women to pursue their dreams and never give up."

According to the Orange County Register, Steel is a lifelong Lakers fan and even was almost forced to give birth at The Forum because she was attending a Lakers game.

The Orange County Board certainly felt that this was a fitting tribute to honor Bryant on his 42nd birthday.

"Kobe Bryant's life, like each one of us who ever lived, presents moments to celebrate and to condemn," supervisor Don Wagner told CBS LA. "Kobe, like all of us, faced challenges, challenges of his own making and challenges thrown at him by life, that he overcome. Today, we celebrate the effort in overcoming those challenges.

"So we strike a balance, and on balance here the good recognized in the resolution brought here is worth celebrating.

I remain UNILAG vice-chancellor, Ogundipe insists

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has insisted that he remains the vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

This is coming after Ogundipe’s removal was announced during the meeting of the Governing Council of the institution which held at the National Universities Commission (NUC) building in Abuja today.

Seven members voted for the removal of Ogundipe while four voted against. One of the members voted that he should rather be placed on suspension.

The meeting was presided over by its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN).

However, Ogundipe in a statement hours later countered the announcement by the registrar and secretary to the governing council Oladejo Azeez, saying the news of his removal was “untrue”.

“The attention of the University of Lagos (Unilag) management has been drawn to the ‘Notice to the General Public on the Removal of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos’; dated August 12, 2020 and signed by Oladejo Azeez, Esq, Registrar and Secretary to Council, stating that the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS has been removed from office with immediate effect,” the statement reads.

“This is untrue and a figment of his imagination. Therefore, stakeholders of Unilag and the general public are advised to disregard this mischievous disinformation about the sitting Vice Chancellor of Unilag, contained in that notice. Professor Ogundipe still remains Unilag’s Vice Chancellor.”

Ogundipe was accused of gross misconduct, financial recklessness and abuse of office.

BBNaija: Ooni of Ife also wants reality show SCRAPPED

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has added his voice to the calls for the scrapping of Big Brother Nigeria reality show, also called BBNaija.

The monarch said the show misrepresents “the goodness and integrity of the Nigerian youths”.

Instead, the Ooni advocated for a new show that will be more beneficial to the youths.

The new show already has a willing sponsor, Elizabeth Jack Rich, founder of Elizabeth Jack-Rch Aid Foundation

The Ooni spoke in Ile-Ife at an interaction with scores of youths who visited him as part of the celebration of International Youth Day.

The monarch’s guests are members of the Nigerian Youth Council.

He described the youths as the country’s untapped immeasurable wealth and resources and urged them to take leadership roles.

Without mincing words, the Ooni knocked the youths for misplacing their priorities.

He appealed to them to redeem themselves as a matter of urgent public importance.

“Nigerian youths are fond of accusing and abusing our leaders. Stop abusing them. Contribute your own quota. Let’s wear our thinking caps and begin to act like the real future leaders that we are.

“In the last general election, the total number of votes cast was around 27 million while over 170 million people voted during the 2019 Big Brother Naija reality show.

“This is a practical reality of who Nigerian youths are and where our priorities lie as Nigerians.

“The funny side in all of these is that we still go to bed, have a good sleep and wake up with the hope to meet a Nigeria we didn’t create. Nigerian Youths! Nigerian Youths!! Nigerians Youths!!!

“Unfortunately, every time I talk about this kind of attitude, everyone just laugh and move on. What kind of nation are we building?

“When people say this country, or what kind of country is this, they are indirectly saying these people – it is the people that make a country; so what kind of Nigerian youths are we?” Ooni asked.

The monarch suggested a new reality show, which will project the country’s values and tradition.

He urged leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria to work out plans on the show, which will be called, “The Big Nigeria Reality Show”.

“The proposed show will be structured in a way that young professionals, talented individuals and others across several field of endeavour will be showcased and helped to reach their peak.

“This would help the participants and also help viewers to have access to people that can be seen as role models,” Ooni added.

Horrific photos! Mutant goat born with no nose and eyes in its mouth is worshiped in India

A goat born with a pair of eyes in its mouth and no nose is being worshiped as a god in India.

Locals in Muzaffarpur, north east India have been crowding around the creature to worship it like a deity.

The black and white baby goat has two eyes which are attached together on the inside of its mouth.

In India, such animals are considered to bring good luck and prosperity to whichever family worships it.

Video footage shows that locals desperate to pray to the tiny kid. Goats, cows or any animal born with one eye are considered to be sacred.

A woman in the background can be heard saying: ' I haven't seen anything bizarre like this but only heard, God knows what it is.'

The owner, who wished not to be named, said: 'Ever since the kid was born, the people had started crowding at my house and want to worship it, but we have refused as the kid is still in distress.
