Cardi B posts n*de Melania Trump photo in dig at First Lady's glamour model past

Cardi B has taken a public dig at First Lady Melania Trump after a fan made an unfavourable comparison between the two women.

The attack came after Melania gave the closing speech at the Republican National Convention at the White House on Tuesday night.

Following the First Lady's address, republican pundit DeAnna Lorraine tweeted: America needs more women like Melania Trump and far less like Cardi B."

Cardi immediately hit back by reposting the tweet and asking: "Didn't she [Melania] used to sell that WAP" - referencing the s.e.xual meaning behind her raunchy new single.

The rapper then shared a n.*.k.e.d image of Melania in her modelling days with her hands cover her privates to her Twitter page.

"This pic giving me "yea you f****n' wit some wet ass p****" vibes ...just sayin'" swiped Cardi.

The hip hop star has been defending herself from a barrage of criticism about the single and video of her s.e.x positive anthem with collaborator Megan Thee Stallion.

BBNaija is source of entertainment to Nigerian youths – Olakunle Churchill

The Managing Director of Churchill Group, Dr. Olakunle Churchill has countered the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, who advocated for the Big Brother Naija reality show to be scrapped and replaced.

The monarch made the suggestion when he hosted the members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in his palace, saying the popular reality show “misrepresented the goodness and integrity of the Nigerian youths”.

In the same vein, a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode in a tweet accused Nigerian youths of paying attention to entertainment while their age mates reclaim their country in Mali.

The PDP chieftain pointed out that a 25-year Malian led the coup which ousted Mali President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta while 30-year-old Nigerians were campaigning for Big Brother Naija housemates.

However, Churchill on his social media on Monday countered those for the scrapping of the show, saying the programme is a source of great entertainment to Nigerian youths.

According to the famous philanthropist, it is hard to neglect the positive contribution of BBN, but the major problems in the country are greed and lack of interest in generational growth.

The 37-year-old businessman also urged Nigerian leaders to focus more on pressing issues and encourage youths rather than seeing them as threats.

He wrote, “We cannot neglect the fact that BBN is a source of great entertainment to Nigerian youths.

“The reality is that our leaders hardly encourage our youths, who are arguably amongst the most talented in the world yet, dreams are shattered by the daily hurdles thrown at the enterprising youth.

“Politics is no more as interesting for the youth who seeks to make a difference. Votes do not reflect in Nigeria politics but are a strong point in BBN. Still, these things don’t slow down our youths.

“The so-called ‘evil’ reality show is supposed to be sponsored by the Nigerian government since it generates more traffic and provides a larger platform than any reality show to pass messages and encourage the youths to keep pressing on.

“Our leaders should focus on more pressing issues. Youths needs to be encouraged, develop their dreams and be empowered/employed. By now each leader is supposed to have up to 20-40 youths they mentor, but in our country youths are like threats to them.

“The major problems we have in this country are greed and lack of interest in generational growth,” he added.

We are ready to resume – University lecturers tell Government

Lecturers under the aegis of Congress of University Academics (CONUA) have informed the Federal Government of their readiness to resume academic activities.

The lecturers expressed their willingness to resume in a press statement released on Wednesday after CONUA’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

In the statement, the lecturers urged FG to reopen universities as soon as possible.

The statement said, “The meeting called on the government to reopen universities as soon as possible as CONUA members are ready to resume work.

“It however added that everything necessary in terms of COVID-19 protocols must be put in place before reopening the universities in order to prevent students and staff from contracting the disease.

“CONUA further stated that the education sector cannot continue to stagnate, as it appears that COVID-19 would continue to be a threat and we must, in the circumstance, learn to strive to lead our normal life.

“Union thus urged the government to make available everything that can help our universities to resume work as is being done elsewhere in the world.”

Court BLOCKS Ivory Coast former president, Gbagbo, from seeking re-election

A court in Ivory Coast has confirmed the decision of the country’s electoral commission to strike off 75-year-old former president, Laurent Gbagbo, from the electoral list, his lawyer told AFP.

“It’s a definitive no,” Claude Mentenon told AFP, adding that there was no further legal recourse inside Ivory Coast.

Election officials had already rejected appeals by Gbagbo and former rebel leader Guillaume Soro to be allowed to compete in the October 31 presidential election, in which the incumbent Alassane Ouattara is running for re-election President of the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI), Ibrahime Coulibaly-Kuibiert, said back in August when the revised electoral list was revealed that anyone convicted of a crime would be struck from the list of candidates.

Four contenders in all were barred from standing in the election on those grounds.

The world’s top cocoa grower remains scarred by a brief civil war that erupted after 2010 elections, when Gbagbo, then president, refused to cede to the victor, Ouattara. Months of ensuing violence claimed around 3,000 lives.

Gbagbo was freed conditionally by the International Criminal Court (ICC) after he was cleared in 2019 of crimes against humanity. The prosecution has appealed that ruling.

But he was sentenced in absentia to a 20-year term last November for the “looting” of the local branch of the Central Bank of the West African States (BCEAO) during the post-election crisis.

In theory at least, he could be jailed on his return, which makes any return to Ivory Coast a sensitive political issue three months before the presidential election.

A 48-year-old pastor, Nduka Anyanwu, today pleaded guilty to defiling and impregnating two teenage sisters, before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Anyanwu is facing a two-count charge of defilement.

Following his guilty plea to both charges, the Chief Magistrate Mrs A. Adedayo, remanded the defendant in a custodial center and adjourned the case to Sept. 15, for facts and sentencing.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, ASP Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in June, at Oshodi area of Lagos.

He said that the defendant, who is a Pastor, had slept with the two sisters, aged 17 and 13, respectively, (names withheld), on several occasions and impregnated them.

According to him, the defendant had allegedly defiled the sisters at the church complex, under the pretext of holding prayer sessions with them.

Unuigbe added that the offences contravene Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Sections 137 stipulates life imprisonment for the offence of defilement of a minor.

Zimbabwe makes it illegal for schools to expel pregnant girls

Zimbabwe has made it illegal for schools to expel pupils who get pregnant, a measure women's rights campaigners said would help tackle gender inequality in the classroom and stop many girls from dropping out of school.

A legal amendment announced last week seeks to reinforce a 1999 guideline that was patchily implemented, and comes as school closures due to coronavirus raise fears of a rise in sexual abuse and unwanted pregnancies.

Many parents of pregnant girls, or the girls themselves, decide to quit schooling due to the pregnancy, and schools do not always do enough to encourage them to stay, officials say.

"I'm expecting every parent and guardian and everyone else to understand that every child must be assisted by all of us to go to school," Cain Mathema, the education minister in charge of schools, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation on Monday.

"Every child whether boy or girl... has a right to go to school in Zimbabwe," he said.

Wife CATCHES husband having S.E.X with HIS OWN MOM

A 64-year-old mother and her 43-year-old son have been allegedly caught having s3x by his wife.

The United States pair are facing the possibility of 20 years behind bars if they are found guilty on incest charges.

The son reportedly said the May 20 encounter was the first time he had ever had s3x with his mum.

"I don’t know. It just happened," a police officer quoted him to have said so.

Lavoie was living with his mum Cheryl Lavoie at the same house at the time.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance in the house and greeted by the wife's cousin, according to local newspaper.

The cousin reportedly told an officer that Lavoie’s wife had called her about walking in on her husband having s3x with his mum, and then had phoned 911.

The officer spoke to the mum and son separately and both acknowledged they had consensual s3xual relations and said it was the first time it had happened, police said.

When the police officer asked Lavoie why it had happened, he is said to have responded “I don’t know. It just happened," before asking for treatment.

When the officer asked his mother the same question, she is said to have responded that they had gotten closer in recent months and it had happened after they started kissing.

Police reportedly charged the mother and son with felony incest and issued them a summons to appear in court on August 20.

Both were arraigned and released on personal recognisance and ordered by the judge to stay away from one another, according to court documents reported by local press.

They both pleaded not guilty, court documents said.

The Lavoies will return to court in October for a pretrial hearing.

According to state law, a person convicted of incest can be punished by imprisonment for between two-and-a-half to 20 years.

Shock as popular footballer collapses during pre-season friendly

Ajax and Netherlands defender Daley Blind collapsed during Tuesday's pre-season friendly against Hertha Berlin.

Blind, 30, was diagnosed with a heart condition in December 2019 after suffering from dizziness during a Champions League game against Valencia.

The former Manchester United player returned to action in February after having an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) fitted.

Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag said Blind was feeling "OK" after being substituted.

"Daley Blind's ICD went off. He got subbed off straight away and he is feeling OK now, he is feeling fine," Ten Hag told Dutch TV station Ziggo Sport.

Wike buys 15 land cruiser prado VX, TXL for Rivers’ Federal Lawmakers [Photos]

Wike, through Amb Desmond Akawor, Rivers Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presented 15 Land Cruiser Prado VX and TXL jeeps to the Rivers NASS members at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The Governor, in a statement released on the event by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim, said, “The gesture would ease their movement and enable them to discharge their legislative duties effectively.

FG orders petroleum ministry vehicles to run on autogas

The Federal Government has ordered the chief executive officers and their lieutenants in agencies under the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to convert all their official vehicles to run on autogas.

It was gathered on Tuesday that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, who gave the directive in Abuja, had already submitted all his vehicles to be converted to run on gas, as opposed to petrol.

The minister said the conversation of vehicles in his ministry and agencies to run on autogas was to demonstrate to Nigerians that the government was serious with its declaration of 2020 as “the year of gas.”

Sylva disclosed this in his address at the Ministerial Mandate Performance Scorecard Review session of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, permanent secretary and CEOs of agencies under the petroleum ministry.

Since 2019, the Federal Government has been pushing for the usage of Compressed Natural Gas and Liquified Petroleum Gas in automobiles to utilise Nigeria’s abundant gas reserves.

They were packed in a total of 607 cartons.

“This is making it 3 containers used to carefully conceal illegally imported tramadol and other medicines to Nigeria,” he said.

He said recent discovery of more tramadol using the same route from Pakistan Asia – Hamburg, Europe – Nigeria showed the system of operation by the drug cartel to beat security operatives.

EFCC arraigns couple for alleged fraud in Akwa Ibom

The Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday arraigned a man, Gabriel Ikpenwa, and his wife, Lillian Ikpenwa, before Justice Archibong Archibong of the Akwa Ibom State High Court for fraud.

They were arraigned alongside a cooperative society, Easycash Multipurpose, owned by Gabriel, on two counts of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretences.

The couple started their journey to the dock when one Maria Umana on February 22, 2018, petitioned the EFCC, alleging that in 2013, the couple lured her into investing N450,000 in their cooperative society, with the promise that she would receive N67,500 on a monthly basis as interest.

For five years, however, the defendants neither paid the victim the interest nor returned her capital.

The charges read in part, “That you, Gabriel Chizoba Ikpenwa, Lillian Nkechi Ikpenwa, and Easycash Multipurpose Cooperative Society, sometime in 2013 at Uyo, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N450,000 only from one Maria Ebong Umana, under the pretext that if the said Maria Ebong Umana invested the sum of N450,000, she would gain interest of N67,000 monthly, the pretences you knew to be false, thereby committing an offence.”

The couple pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, N. Ukoha, asked for a trial date and urged the court to remand the couple in prison.

The defence counsel, C. I. Udoh, informed the court of a bail application for the second defendant, Lilian, pending before the court.

Though the prosecution opposed the application, Justice Archibong granted her bail in the sum of N1m with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned till December 9 and 10, 2020, for trial.

Mikel Obi scores in first game for Stoke City

John Obi Mikel scored his first Stoke City goal in their 5-1 hammering of Shrewsbury Town in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly match.

Mikel who joined the Potters on a free transfer earlier this month, made his first start for Stoke City at the club’s Clayton Wood training ground.

The 33-year-old restored the hosts’ lead just before the break after Oakley-Boothe’s opener was cancelled out by Shrewsbury Town.

Mikel was in action for 45 minutes before he was replaced by Tom Ince while DR Congo’s Benik Afobe was introduced for Lee Gregory, nine minutes after the hour-mark, Goal reports.

Afobe joined the party later in the second half as goals from the Congolese star, Ince and Tyrese Campbell completed the rout for Stoke City.

The encounter returned Stoke City to winning ways after they suffered a 1-0 loss against Burton Albion in their last friendly outing on August 22.

Following Tuesday’s convincing victory, Mikel will be eager to steer the Potters to victory when they host Blackpool for their League Cup fixture at bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, O’Neill has lauded the former Nigeria captain for showing an instant impact in the team with his hard work.

“John’s been great in his first few days. You can see his quality, there’s no doubt, people in the group see his quality,” he was quoted by Stoke Sentinel.

Mali suspended from international Francophone community over coup

The international community increased pressure on the military junta that has seized power in Mali, as the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) suspended the nation from its membership Tuesday.

Its leadership agreed the move at an extraordinary session held via videoconference, while adding that it would maintain any cooperation that would help the civilian population and a transition to democracy.

The decision came a day after envoys from the West African bloc ECOWAS and the new military rulers said they had failed to agree on a timetable to return Mali to democratic rule.

The OIF also called for the liberation of the ousted president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who stepped down from power last week after the military revolt, saying he wanted to avoid bloodshed.

And they called for the establishment, as soon as possible, of “a transition government led by an civilian authority”. The OIF said it would be sending a high-delegation to Mali in the coming days.

The international community has already condemned the August 18 coup and ECOWAS has suspended Mali from its ranks.

ECOWAS has so far taken the lead in the international community in trying to negotiate a timetable for a return to civilian rule with the country’s new military leaders.

But both sides said Monday they had failed to reach agreement — and also that Keita no longer wanted to be restored to be power, which had been one of the initial demands made by ECOWAS.

Keita was elected in 2013 after running a campaign in which he pitched himself as a unifying force in a fractured country.

He was re-elected for a second term in 2018 but failed to make headway against the jihadists, and the ethnic unrest they ignited in the centre of the country further damaged an already sickly economy.

An outcry over the results of long-delayed legislative elections in April cemented his unpopular reputation, and in June a protest movement was born aimed at forcing him to resign.

Senate probes NTA-StarTimes after no profit in 12 years

The Nigerian Senate may call for a forensic audit of the joint venture between the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Chinese cable company, StarTimes.

The senate is bewildered that 12 years after the agreement in 2008, there is no profit to show.

Chairman, Senate Joint Committee on Finance and National Planning, Sen. Solomon Adeola, said this on Tuesday in Abuja, during an interactive session with some revenue generating agencies of government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the upper chamber had, on Monday, queried the management of NTA, why the venture is not turning profit after 12 years.

The Senate asked that the management should appear before the committee along with the Managing Director, NTA TV Enterprises, Mr Maxwell Loko.

The joint venture agreement was that whatever accrued at the end of every financial year, 70 per cent, goes to StarTimes and 30 per cent to Nigeria.

Adeola also queried why some of the accounts of StarTimes were in dollars and naira.
