One of the killers of Uwaila Vera Omozua, who was murdered while studying inside a Redeem Christian Church of God, RCCG in Edo State has confessed that he received 1 million Naira to kill his victim.

Uwaila, a 100 level Microbiology student of UNIBEN, was gruesomely raped and murdered in May 2020.

The suspect, Collins Uligbe, who hails from Agbor in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, made the confession while being paraded alongside other suspects by the Edo State Police Command.

He said after the act, he used a handkerchief given to him by Mrs Mary Ade to wipe Uwa’s blood and private part and returned it to his landlady.

According to him, she wanted to use it for rituals.

He gave the names of the other suspected killers as Nelson Ogbebor, Tina Samuel, another lady, Valentine Akato and Nosa Osabohien.

Narrating the incident, Collins said although they were six that carried out the crime, he was outside giving them signals before he joined them inside the church.

Collins said Nelson he hit the victim with a plank and when she tried to stand up he hit her with the fire extinguisher in the church.

The suspects were traced through a man who bought the victim’s phone for N17,000.

“I bought phone from Collins; on 27th May Osaro came to my workplace at Agba Park, we bargained and he sold the phone for N17,000 to me. The next week I was tracked and arrested,” the man had confessed.

However, Mary Ade, denied the allegation, saying she neither gave him the money nor asked him to wipe the lady’s private part.

Over 40% of married men in Nigeria are bis3xual, Halima Abubakar reveals

Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has made a controversial claim regarding the s.e.xuality of some married men in Nigerian.

She said in an interview with Punch that about 40% and more of married men are bis3xual but it is something they keep on the low.

According to Halima Abubakar, she knows men who are married to women but are bis3xual and she posed a question why men randomly change girls all the time.

“We have over 40 per cent of down-low (bi-sexual married men) in Nigeria, whether you want to believe it or not. Sadly, their families don’t even know.

Instead of them putting their families through hurt, infect them with various diseases and end up killing their wives or themselves because they are scared to open up, I feel they should be truthful and realistic about their needs and put it first before anything.

Katy Perry welcomes her first child with Orlando Bloom, a girl

Katy Perry gave birth to her baby girl with her loving fiancé Orlando Bloom.

The couple have said they are "floating with love and wonder" following the birth of their first child together, with them revealing they have named her Daisy Dove Bloom.

Katy, 35 and actor Orlando, 43, took the unusual step of announcing the birth through Unicef, with the pair being goodwill ambassadors for the charity.

"We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter," the couple said in statement, alongside a black and white picture of them holding Daisy's tiny hand.

Their statement continued: "But we know we're the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was.

"Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes.

"Since Covid-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases.

"As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathise with struggling parents now more than ever."

The couple said they have set up a donation page to mark Daisy's birth, with the money going towards new mothers and their children.

The couple added: "By supporting Unicef, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your (heart) can bloom with generosity."

Orlando is already a dad to his nine-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

But their newborn is his first ever "daddy's little girl" and first child with Katy.

1.9 million Nigerians living with HIV/AIDs – Expert

A paediatric nurse and HIV counsellor, Mrs. Roseline Solarin has revealed that no fewer  than 1.9 million Nigerians are living with HIV/AIDs.

Mrs. Solarin while citing UNAIDS and National Agency for the Control of AIDS statistics said the surge in HIV/AIDS was common among people within the ages of 15 and 49.

She added that Nigeria remained the highest HIV/AIDs endemic country in the world.

The Chief Nursing Officer who doubles as Chairperson of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwifery Association of Nigeria (NANNM), Ogun State chapter spoke in Sagamu at the launch and public presentation of a book titled ‘Sex Education Made Easy,’ a manual to help parents teach sex education with confidence.

She urged the youths to abstain from sex until they were married, and where they could not help it, they should put safety first and wear protective gear – condoms, in order to protect their lives, health, and future.

Mrs. Solarin, while blaming the high rate of moral decadence in the country to the advent of the internet and social media, charged parents to be alive to their parental responsibilities, especially by giving them sex education.

“We parents are the first teachers to our children. We should not shy away from our responsibility, especially when it comes to sex education. If we refuse to teach them, other people will teach them in the wrong way.”

Boy born with extra thumbs 'proud' as they help him play video games better than pals [photos]

A 12-year-old born with an extra thumb on each hand says they help him climb trees, catch balls and play video games better than his friends.

Faizan Ahmad Najar was born with congenital condition hexadactyly - meaning six digits - which affects just one in around 1500 births.

The condition means the schoolboy has two extra thumbs, one on each hand.

But Faizan does not let the extra digits hinder his daily activities - in fact, he is proud of them, saying they give him an advantage over his friends in certain activities.

Faizan says having twelve fingers means he's better at both cricket and consoles.

The youngster says the extra thumbs help him play video games, scramble up trees faster than his friends, and have seen him excel at cricket, his favourite sport.

And among his friends, he is known as 'Krrish' - the star of a popular Bollywood superhero film series.

Faizan, from Sheeri Baramulla, in the Kashmir region of northern India, said: "I feel proud about it. There is no shame - it is God's will.

"Sometimes, but not often, I think, 'Why only me?'. But overall, I have some good friends in school who keep me from feeling that way."

Faizan's condition, while uncommon, affects approximately one in 1,500 births.

Senior doctor Mushtaq Ahmed said: "It is a not-so-common birth defect. Even if parents are 'normal', this can still happen to their offspring."

But Faizan is determined not to let the defect hold him back.

He said: "I want to become a doctor. I want to treat patients who are born which such malfunctions, so that nobody can bully or taunt them.

"Luckily, I have not faced much of that as I live in the countryside."

Faizan's family are also proud of his condition and how well he has handled it.

US policeman who shot black man in back 7 times is identified

The US policeman who shot a black man seven times in the back sparking a new wave of protests has been identified.

Rusten Sheskey has been named by the Wisconsin Department of Justice as part of its ongoing probe into the incident that left Jacob Blake paralysed.

Blake was gunned down by officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday in front of his sons, one of whom had turned eight that day.

Just 18 minutes after the shooting his dad saw a now viral video of the incident in which Blake can be seen walking to his car door pursued by police amid shouts.

As he opens the door bullets fly into his back, prompting him to slump into the vehicle.

At a press conference yesterday, investigators said Blake had a knife in the car he was reaching into when he was shot, and that no other officer opened fire.

Attorney General Josh Kaul said the 29-year-old dad had admitted to investigators that he had a knife in his possession at the time.

But a search of Blake's vehicle turned up no other weapons, Kaul added.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have all the money on the world to splash on their lavish lifestyle.

And the married couple certainly lived the high life when they took a family holiday in The Hamptons this week.

They were joined by their three children Blue Ivy, eight and three-year-old twins Sir and Rumi on a luxury yacht ride.

Proving they have friends in high places, the family accompanied them on the trip by Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey.

It seemed Beyonce, 38, was getting the chance to let her hair down on the fun day out with her brood.

She was dressed in a white shrit and denim shorts, which she teamed with an orange bucket hat.

Her blonde curls were worn loose around her shoulders and she sported minimal makeup.

Bey was also seen walking barefoot across the grass to board the yacht with Rumi in her arms.

The little girl looked cute in a green playsuit and was pictured carrying Barbie dolls.

Afghanistan's first female film director who has suffered years of death threats is shot minutes away from her home

Afghanistan's first female film director has been shot and wounded in Kabul by three gunmen who opened fire on her car.

Saba Sahar, a trailblazing actress, director, police officer and women's rights activist, was targeted on Tuesday, with the attack happening five minutes from her house.

Her husband, Emal Zaki, told the BBC that she was one of five people in the vehicle, including the driver, two bodyguards and a child.

It was not clear if the child was one of Sahar's children.

'I reached the scene and found them all wounded,' Zaki told the BBC, adding that it happened so close to home, he could hear the gunshots.

Afghanistan's Tolo News published photos of the gold SUV she was traveling in, its windows shielded by curtains, but now shattered by bullets.

'She received first aid and we transferred her to the emergency hospital and then to the police hospital.'

Zaki said that Sahar was shot in the stomach and was able to answer the phone when he called her. He said she later underwent a successful surgery.

Sabar was well known in Afghanistan following the huge success of her first film, The Law, released in 2004.

The British embassy in Afghanistan tweeted: 'Condemn this cowardly attack on a brave Afghan woman. Wishing Saba Sahar a full recovery.'

Markus Potzel, Germany's envoy to Afghanistan, tweeted: 'Another courageous female member of the AFG society was attacked today.

'Perpetrators must be investigated&held accountable. Wishing speedy recovery to #sabasahar & all the injured. #stoptheviolence'.

Sahar has faced death threats for decades, owing to her high-profile work in the deeply traditional and male-dominated country.

Deaf and mute girl is gang r3ped and murdered in India

A 14-year-old, deaf and mute girl has been gang-r3ped and murdered with bricks and stones at her own school in India.

A child was playing in Uttrita Middle School's playground in Khirundha when he found the body of the disabled girl who had gone missing the night before, local media reported.

Police are still waiting for a post mortem report to reveal whether the child was murdered before or after she was r3ped.

The victim went missing on Saturday evening and was found dead the next morning sparking outrage in the community.

Elected representative Deepika Pandey Singh said that what happened to this girl has shaken him and called for those to did it not to be spared.

Local government requested to fast track the case to court and to bring the harshest punishment to anyone involved.

India was classified the most dangerous place for women in 2018 because of its high levels of domestic and sexual violence.

In 2017 r3pes that were reported to police amounted to 90 a day, according to government data.

R3pe is one of the fastest growing crimes in India with the National Crime Records Bureau reporting in 2019 that the number of rape cases doubled in the 17 years between 2001 and 2017.

Government approves N722.3m for forensic audit of NDDC

The Federal Executive Council has approved N722.3m for the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed this on Wednesday after the virtual FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Akpabio, the field auditors will undertake a complete forensic exercise of the NDDC activities in their respective states of assignments and ascertain total funds and resources paid to contractors for all projects.

They would also compare the total amount of resources expended with the value of what was delivered to the commission and establish if such value is commensurate with the resources expended.

He disclosed that the auditors were also mandated to look into the 12,000 abandoned projects by the NDDC in the Niger Delta.

He said, “By the time I assume office in August 2019, we discovered there was no budget for the NDDC for the year 2019 up to that September.

“So, we submitted two budgets in November to the National Assembly. And it took quite a while until in April. The budget details were given out to the NDDC in April, to end 31st of May, less than six weeks.

“Unfortunately, the National Assembly is right now on leave and the budget of NDDC for 2020 has not been passed. So, to enable us to move forward with the exercise and complete it on time, Mr President graciously directed and approved that the payment for the forensic exercise should be undertaken through the Presidency.”

We’ll fight states hiding behind COVID-19 to sack workers – NLC

The organised labour has said it is mobilising against state governments and other employers using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to sack workers and undermine their rights.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, said workers were being used as scapegoats for the economic challenges brought about by the pandemic.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja shortly before the commencement of the Central Working Committee meeting of the NLC on Wednesday, Wabba said labour and its allies would tackle any infraction on workers’ rights.

He said, “We are having this meeting at a time when workers are going through various challenges. We expect to make far-reaching pronouncements on how we are going to engage employers of labour that have tried to undermine the fundamental rights of workers, especially state governments.

“You remember we had written to two state governors on the issue. While one has responded, the other has not. We are going to tackle them headlong because we believe that people must respect the rule of law, especially those in authority.”

Wabba stressed that labour would not condone the violation of workers’ rights.

Lagos pastor defiles, impregnates two sisters

The Lagos State Police Command, on Wednesday, arraigned a pastor, Nduka Anyanwu, before the state Magistrates’ Court in Yaba for allegedly defiling and impregnating two sisters.

Anyanwu was alleged to have slept with the sisters, aged 17 and 13, on several occasions and impregnated them.

The suspect was arraigned on two counts bordering on defilement before Chief Magistrate A. Adedayo.

He pleaded guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Roman Unuigbe, told the court that Anyanwu committed the offences sometime in June 2020 at a church complex in the Oshodi area of the state under the pretext of praying for the victims.

Punch Metro gathered that the mother of the victims had tried to prevent the police from arresting the defendant on the grounds that he was a man of God.

According to Unuigbe, the offences contravene Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Following the defendant’s plea, Magistrate Adedayo ordered him to be remanded in custody and adjourned the case till September 15, 2020, for presentation of facts and sentencing.

Cardi B posts n*de Melania Trump photo in dig at First Lady's glamour model past

Cardi B has taken a public dig at First Lady Melania Trump after a fan made an unfavourable comparison between the two women.

The attack came after Melania gave the closing speech at the Republican National Convention at the White House on Tuesday night.

Following the First Lady's address, republican pundit DeAnna Lorraine tweeted: America needs more women like Melania Trump and far less like Cardi B."

Cardi immediately hit back by reposting the tweet and asking: "Didn't she [Melania] used to sell that WAP" - referencing the s.e.xual meaning behind her raunchy new single.

The rapper then shared a n.*.k.e.d image of Melania in her modelling days with her hands cover her privates to her Twitter page.

"This pic giving me "yea you f****n' wit some wet ass p****" vibes ...just sayin'" swiped Cardi.

The hip hop star has been defending herself from a barrage of criticism about the single and video of her s.e.x positive anthem with collaborator Megan Thee Stallion.
