Officials dressed in hazmat suits raced to board a Ryanair flight after a passenger was diagnosed with coronavirus minutes before take-off.
The passenger and his travelling companion were flying from London Stansted to Pisa in Italy last night when he received a text message confirming a positive test result.
Video posted on Twitter shows two officials in protective suits dealing with the man as flight attendants reassure passengers.
The passenger, who has not been named, breached coronavirus restrictions by leaving his home while displaying symptoms. He was moved to an isolated area at the airport before health officials met with him, Mail Online reported.
The flight took off nearly two hours behind schedule as the man’s seat and overhead bag carrier needed to be disinfected.
RyanAir said in a statement the infected passenger was on the plane for less than 10 minutes.
‘They were both wearing masks at all times at Stansted Airport,’ the airline said.
‘There was little if any risk of coronavirus transmission to other passengers or crew members as all of whom were also wearing face masks at all times.’
Authorities of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, (AAUA) Ondo State has announced the downward review of the tuition fees of its students.
A circular, dated August 26, 2020, issued by the institution’s Acting Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr Opeoluwa Akinfenwa said that the governing council of the institution has approved the reduction.
Akinfenwa said the reduction became necessary following appeal from students of the University.
The circular read that, “I write on the directive of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga IGE to inform all returning students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko that following an earlier appeal by students, and in view of the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country on parents and students, the governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has directed that the university should consider a reduction in tuition fees in a way that quality education can still be sustained in the university.”
The circular indicated that students in the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences who were paying N150,000 before, will now pay N120,000.
Students in the Faculties of Agriculture and Education, will now pay N100,000 instead of N150,000. Faculty of Arts students will pay N80,000 as against N100,000 being paid before.
But the tuition fees for the Faculty of Law students remained N150,000. Recall that the university authorities increased the tuition fees in 2018 from N30,000 to over N150,000 depending on the academic programmes of the students.
A protest was staged by the students to show their displeasure but the state government insisted that the economic reality necessitated the increment in the fees.

Britain’s oldest identical twins have celebrated their 100th birthday together.
Dorothy Sivyer and Kathleen Whitehead, who call themselves ‘The Twinnies,’ were born in 1920.
The sisters moved in together during lockdown and have enjoyed spending time with one another.
Dorothy, who lived in Tunbridge Wells until recently moving to Rochester, said: ‘I came up here because of the lockdown to be with my sister and now we’re both turning 100 together. It’s been nice living together during lockdown. We haven’t come to blows or anything.
‘I don’t mind turning 100. Nobody has got this old in our family before.’
Kath added: ‘We’ve had a lovely time together. It’s been good and we want to say thank you to all those people who have made our birthday so happy and nice.
‘Being together has kept us positive whilst staying inside and eating chocolate. We play cards together and just chat a lot.
‘We can’t do much about turning 100, can we? It just kind of comes, doesn’t it, I don’t really want it – I’d rather go back the other way.’

Dotty added: ‘We’re not friends – we’re closer than that. Real sisters, real close, we are. Always have been.'
R Kelly has reportedly been attacked by another inmate at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, where he is currently serving time on a string of charges, including s e.x trafficking, racketeering and child pornography, as well as accusations of s.e.x ual exploitation of children.
The I Believe singer, 53, has pleaded not guilty to several charges in the states of Illinois, New York and Minnesota.
According to TMZ, R Kelly had been sitting on his bed in his cell when another inmate walked in and jumped him and started punching him.
Their sources claim the inmate had been angry about the jail being put on lockdown a few times, due to the singer’s protesters outside.
Reports claim the fight did not last long, and that R Kelly was checked by a doctor afterwards and did not have serious injuries or broken bones.
It is not known whether the fight was broken up by another inmate or by guards, and spokespeople for the Federal Bureau Of Prisons declined to comment to TMZ due to privacy and safety reasons for the inmate.
R Kelly has been in prison since 2019, having multiple requests for bail denied, including during the coronavirus pandemic.
His legal team had filed an 18-page court filing in March, stating that his life was being put ‘at risk’ due to the jail’s apparent lack of health and safety efforts to combat the virus.
As well as his other charges, in May R Kelly plead not guilty to knowingly exposing two people to herpes.
His lawyer confirmed that they would ‘enter a plea of not guilty to all of the charges’ while another member of his legal team said that the jail has filed an ‘additional new medical report’ and were hoping to get a copy.

A five-year-old boy has been praised by police after calling the number on the side of his toy ambulance when his mum slipped into a diabetic coma.
Josh called 112 — a European emergency number which serves the same purpose as 999 — which connected him to a police communications operator.
Josh, from Telford in Shropshire, made the call last month when he found his mum lying unconscious on the floor.
Local West Mercia police commander Supt Jim Baker said he was “very brave”.
“This was an incredible thing for Josh to do. His quick thinking saw him ring the number on his toy ambulance as he was worried about his mum,” Mr Baker said.
“He was very brave and stayed on the line while we were able to get to the family’s home and make sure his mum got medical assistance.”
Josh was later invited for a tour of his local police station and was shown round by officers.
“Josh has already proved he would make a brilliant police officer in the future; hopefully we’ll see him again when he’s old enough as a new recruit,” Mr Baker added.
Six days after classes began, the University of Alabama has experienced an "unacceptable rise" in coronavirus cases, the university's president said.
The University of Alabama's main campus in Tuscaloosa has recorded 531 total cases. The remaining campuses in Birmingham and Huntsville have recorded 35 cases cumulatively, according to the university's Covid-19 dashboard.
With over 46,150 tests and 566 positive cases, the coronavirus positivity rate on University of Alabama campuses sits around 1.2%, according to the dashboard.
University of Alabama President Stuart R. Bell called on all students, faculty and staff to work together "at this critical moment" after the climb in Covid-19 cases on campus.
Bell urged social distancing, mask wearing and limited gatherings. He said violators would be subject to possible suspension from school.
"Completing the fall semester together is our goal," Bell said Sunday in an email to students. "The margin for error is shrinking."
University police and Tuscaloosa police will monitor restaurants, off-campus residences and Greek housing to ensure patrons and residents follow coronavirus safety guidelines, Bell said.
Shortly after Bell's message to students, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox ordered all bars in the city to close for two weeks due to the rise in cases.
Tuscaloosa officials earlier this summer accused young people in the city of attending "Covid parties" with the purpose of becoming infected with coronavirus. The University of Alabama conducted an investigation and said it didn't identify any students who participated in the parties.
