Pope Francis hails food and s.e.x as 'divine' pleasures that 'come directly from God'

Pope Francis has said that the pleasures of a well-cooked meal or loving s3xual intercourse are 'divine' in a newly-published book of interviews.

He believes they have unjustly fallen victim to 'overzealousness' on the part of the Catholic Church in the past.

'Pleasure arrives directly from God, it is neither Catholic, nor Christian, nor anything else, it is simply divine,' the Pope told Italian writer Carlo Petrini.

He said there was no place for an 'overzealous morality' that denies pleasure, something which he admitted had existed in the church in the past.

The 83-year-old, born in Jorge Bergoglio in Argentina, insisted that this was 'a wrong interpretation of the Christian message'.

The Church has condemned inhuman, brutish, vulgar pleasure, but has on the other hand always accepted human, simple, moral pleasure,' he said.

'The pleasure of eating is there to keep you healthy by eating, just like sexual pleasure is there to make love more beautiful and guarantee the perpetuation of the species.

He added: 'The pleasure of eating and sexual pleasure come from God.'

Pope Francis added that opposing views 'have caused enormous harm, which can still be felt strongly today'.

The book 'TerraFutura, conversations with Pope Francis on integral ecology', written by Petrini, was published on September 9.

Mad oh! Pat McGrath's $38 lipstick is sold out in 8 secs and now being resold at $999 [photos]

Supreme's first venture into the beauty industry proved to be a phenomenal success after the streetwear brand's lipstick collaboration with celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath sold out in just eight seconds.

The $38 lipstick, which was released on Supreme's website on Thursday, prompted a frenzy of excitement from beauty lovers and streetwear fans alike, with thousands of people clamoring to lay their hands on the makeup item.

But many were met with bitter disappointment after the lip shade - aptly-named Supreme - which was inspired by the brand's iconic logo, disappeared in mere seconds both in the US and in the UK.

'[The lipstick] went live at 11am ET and sold out in eight seconds flat,' a spokesperson for Pat McGrath said, adding: 'The UK sold out in 8.2 seconds.'

While the lipstick was Supreme's first foray into makeup, it seems to have gone the way of so many of the streetwear brand's previous collaborations, with savvy buyers offering it up on re-sale websites for more than 26 times the original price.

On StockX, the lipstick was being sold by dozens of users, with one asking for a whopping $999 for a single tube. Others offered the product up for anywhere between $100 and $300 - a far cry from its original price of $38.

Delta permits cinema houses, hotels, eateries to re-open

The Delta State Government has further relaxed the lockdown placed on businesses to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, yesterday in Asaba stated that movie houses, hotels, eateries, and others have been allowed to operate but should observe the Covid-19 protocols.

He said, “We have taken a decision to allow movie houses, hotels, entries to open their businesses but must consistently fumigate the places.

“They will not be more than 50 for big capacity and 25 for small capacity hall. They must observe all the Covid-19 protocol

“Why we are taking this decision is to ensure that businesses survive in the state as people had long closed.”

The commissioner said that the task force would continue to monitor the process and would not hesitate to clamp down on any defaulter.

This woman lives as a puppy and now makes money from it

A former optician who has a fetish for acting like a dog is making six figures a month off her puppy playing videos in which she barks, crawls on all fours, and chews toys and she isn't the only woman who is drawn to the sexual subculture.

Jenna Phillips, 21, from Austin, Texas, is best known as 'Puppy Girl Jenna' on TikTok, where she has earned more than 196,000 fans since March, thanks to her playful videos that show her doing everything from being walked on a leash to getting scolded for 'peeing' on the floor.

She took advantage of her online fame to launch a lucrative gig on her Only Fans page, which earns her thousands of dollars a month. She admitted that she has been surprised by her sudden success.

'It’s insane,' she said. 'I never thought my weird dog kink would be looked at by a broad audience, or that so many people would like/care about it. It still blows my mind.'

In her most recent TikTok video, she can be seen excitedly panting and crawling across the kitchen as she makes her way toward her food and water bowls that sitting in a rack on the floor.

After taking a few bites of dog food, she tips the rack over with her teeth. She begins suggestively licking the food off of the ground and then spitting it out while eyeing up the camera.

Another that has been viewed over 1.1 million times shows Jenna on all fours and wearing a metal leash at an outdoor restaurant as she begs her 'owner' for table food. After he finally acquiesces, he gives her a bite of his leftover steak.

Puppy play is a subculture of BDSM in which a person or persons act like young dogs. The sexual subculture is more prevalent in the queer community, and some participants like to wear masks, hoods, muzzles, leashes, and other gear.

In a recent interview, Jenna explained that she just feels 'like a dog' and has always enjoyed acting like one.

'I just want to roll around, play fetch, get head scratches, run around and play. All of that,' she said. 'I have always acted like a puppy but not in a sexual way at first. I used to pretend I was a puppy when I was growing up.

'I really love praise. I love hearing "good girl." It makes my heart melt every time,' she added. 'Looking back on it now, it's kind of always been there. I just didn't know there was a scene, I just thought it was my personality.'

22-year old woman spends £38,000 on plastic surgery and she isn't stopping yet

A young woman has explained she has spent a massive £38,000 in two and a half years to look like a “bimbo”.

Amber May, 22, an adult TV presenter, funded her surgeries through stripping.

She says that people tell her she looks like a Barbie doll and that she’s addicted to plastic surgery.

The young Brit, from the Midlands, claims she’s been having fillers since 18.

When Amber turned 19 she had her first boob job which took her from a 34C to a 34F – the biggest a UK surgeon would agree to.

Within weeks of her breast augmentation she had booked to go under the knife again.

Amber said: “I had my first surgery on my boobs when I was 19, funded by working in a club five nights a week.

“I knew I always wanted them big and fake but I had surgery in the UK and they would only go up to 535cc so 12 weeks after my first surgery I booked with Dr Plovirr in Belgium, he does the big xl fake implants.

“I’d seen girls on Instagram and loved their size, so I told the surgeon to go as big as possible!”

The second surgery required 1650cc implants and it took her to a 36K.

So far, the Brit has spent £11,000 on boob jobs, £15,000 on bum implants, £8,000 on a nose job and thousands more on lip, cheek, chin and jaw fillers.

But the investment seems to have been worth it as her curvy look has helped her to gain an huge online following.

She also says she’ll be going back for more in 2021.

Bakers threaten to increase bread prices

Bakers have vowed to react to price increase in baking ingredients by increasing the prices of bread.

The Premium Breadmakers Association of Nigeria and the Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria gave this warning on Thursday at a press conference in Lagos.

The President, PBAN, Tosan Jemide, complained that businesses had been comatose due to the incessant increase in the prices of baking ingredients.

He noted that in the last six months, the prices of flour, sugar and other baking ingredients had skyrocketed without a corresponding increase in the prices of bread by member bakeries.

Jemide said, “We have been busy helping them remain profitable while our businesses suffer, because we are more in tune with the purchasing power of the consumer and are deeply concerned about food security.

“PBAN and AMBCN shall no longer take seat and watch such blatant increases in prices going forward. We shall react with equal price increases or stiff resistance.”

Jemide appealed to government to intervene in the rising cost by prevailing on sellers and imploring millers to put a stop to the incessant increment of the prices of commodities.

He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to help the industry by reining in on the millers or supporting them in whatever way they could to help the manufacturers and distributors with forex.

Fuel hike: NANS assures students will hit the streets Monday

The National Association of Nigerian Students on Thursday said it was set to hit the streets except the Federal Government reversed the increase in the pump price of fuel and electricity tariff.

The organisation threatened to embark on a nationwide protest on Monday September 14, 2020, if urgent steps were not taken to reverse the new prices.

NANS President, Danielson Akpan, who made this known during a press briefing in Abuja, called on the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari to prioritise the welfare of Nigerians.

Akpan said, “Nigerians are bewildered that having been under months of lockdown and restrictive measures, welcoming them back to normal life with increases in prices of essential commodities is a burden too harsh for the citizens to bear.

“It is no longer news that the Federal Government in a swooping total deregulation and subsidy removal policy announced another increase in the pump price of PMS. It is also a known fact that prior to that, the Federal Government also approved increases in electricity tariff while banks regrettably reduced interests on customer savings.

“The effects of these increases amidst earlier increments made in Value Added Tax and multiple taxations on goods and services have started causing unbearable consequences, thereby compounding the obvious imbalances in the economic and social life of Nigerians, most of whom are dependent on (unstable) electricity supply and PMS to do businesses and make ends meet.

“Precisely on Monday, September 14 2020, Nigerian students shall be making a loud statement in a mass protest across the six geopolitical zones, and the Federal Capital Territory to demand outright reversal of the insensitive price hikes.”

Niger fires 80 civil servants over salary fraud

Determined to fish out bad eggs in Niger State Civil service, the state government on Thursday announced the sacking of 80 civil servants cut across various cadre of the state service for salary scam running into millions of naria.

The dismissed civil servants, were found culpable in the ongoing salary verification by the state government.

Governor Abubakar Bello gave the go-ahead of the civil servants’ sacking during a state executive council meeting in Minna on Wednesday.

Confirming the development, Niger State Head of Service, Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar, disclosed that all the affected persons were now awaiting their dismissal letters from the office of the state Civil Service Commission in few days.

She said, “There was an instance where a messenger in the State Judicial Service was found to be collecting the salary of a High Court judge; it is as bad as that.

“Also a civil servant was impersonating the Hon Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Haruna  Dukku, and was collecting his salary and making it look as if he was earning double salary. What will he tell (Agric commissioner) EFCC after leaving office if such an individual was not apprehended?”

Nigerians, other nationalities face deportation as UAE suspends visa extension due to covid-19

Nigerians and other foreigners in the United Arab Emirates whose resident visas had expired have till November 17 to leave the Gulf country.

This followed the suspension of visa extension for foreign residents and expatriates by the UAE government on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Previously, residents with visas that expired before March 1 had until August 18 to leave the country without having to pay a fine, but now, they have until November 17.

The authorities said those who violated the directive would be deported and would also pay fines under the UAE immigration regulations.

Under its modified Covid-19 visa policies that took effect August 1, foreign residents currently in the country have until October 10 to renew expired visas.

According to the UAE official portal, https://u.ae/#, tourists and visit visa holders have a grace period of 10 days to renew their visas or they would be fined AED 200 (N20,476) for the first day of overstay; AED100 (N10,373) each consecutive day and AED 100, as service fees.

In the case of UAE residents, they have 30 days’ grace period after visa expiry to either amend their status and get another resident visa or leave the country.

Fines do not apply during the grace period, but if they overstayed after the grace period, they will be fined AED 125 for the first day; AED 25 for each subsequent day; AED 50 per day after six months of overstaying and AED 100 per day after one year of overstaying.

“Residents with expired visas who wish to leave the country should cancel their expired visas prior to departure. Their visa cancellation documents will show the grace period they have to exit the country,” the directive said.

But officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who spoke on condition of anonymity noted that the Nigerians, including Pakistanis, Iranians, Bangladeshis and Indians, ignored the directive to leave the country.

A senior official said, “With the expiration/cancellation of their visas, the Nigerians and other foreigners affected by the policy have become illegal migrants. What this means is that the UAE authorities would arrest and deport them and the expenses would be borne by the deportees.”

Alleged frauds: Seun Egbegbe, accomplices return to court

The Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed October 6 to hear the no-case submissions in the case of a former Lagos socialite, Olajide Kareem, alias Seun Egbegbe, who is answering charges for a series of alleged frauds.

Egbegbe, a Nollywood film maker, was accused of scamming no fewer than 30 Bureau De Change operators in Lagos of various sums both in local and foreign currencies between 2015 and 2017.

The police said he swindled his victims of the sums of N39, 098,100, $90,000 and £12,550.

According to the police, Egbegbe allegedly defrauded the BDC operators mostly by falsely representing to the victims that he had foreign currencies to sell to or buy from the BDC operators.

He is facing 40 counts alongside his alleged accomplices – Oyekan Ayomide, Lawal Kareem, Olalekan Yusuf and Muyideen Shoyombo.

The former socialite has been in the prison custody as he was unable to meet the N5m bail granted him by the court.

Following the close of the prosecution’s case, all the defendants, except Egbegbe, who is having difficulty paying legal fees, filed no-case submissions.

They contended that the police prosecutor, Innocent Anyigor, failed to establish a prima facie case or prove the charges against them.

They are praying the court to dismiss the charges and set them free.

But their no-case submissions have been opposed by the police.

Justice Oguntoyinbo fixed October 6 to take arguments on the no-case submissions.

Islamist militants massacre dozens of villagers in Congo

At least 53 villagers have been killed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo’s Ituri province, by Islamist militants, a local official said on Thursday.

The authorities blamed the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan armed group active in eastern Congo since the 1990s.

The militia has killed more than 1,000 civilians since the start of 2019, according to U.N. figures, despite repeated military campaigns aimed at destroying it.

On Tuesday night into Wednesday, ADF fighters attacked the villages of Tsabi and Tondoli, around 120 km (75 miles) south of the city of Bunia, officials said.

Etienne Babawela, a local village chief, said 53 bodies had been discovered so far.

“We don’t know how many deaths there will be tomorrow,” he said. “It’s as if they had lots of time on Tuesday and Wednesday while they were killing people.”

The United Nations says violence attributed to the ADF has soared since the start of the year, following the launch of a large-scale army campaign.

In response, the ADF abandoned its bases, split into smaller, more mobile groups, and took revenge on civilians.

Several attacks attributed to the ADF have also been claimed by Islamic State, although researchers and analysts say there is a lack of hard evidence linking the two groups.

Violence committed by a constellation of more than 100 armed groups has forced over half a million people in the east of the country to flee their homes since the start of the year.

Millions of people died in eastern Congo, most from hunger and disease, during wars from 1996 to 2003 that sucked in more than half a dozen neighbouring countries.

Congo’s military and security forces have also committed grave violations, including killings and sexual violence, the United Nations has said.

Music executive, Audu Maikori loses dad

Music executive, Audu Maikori has lost his father, Mallam Adamu Maikori at the age of 78.

Taking to his Facebook page to mourn his late dad, Audu wrote;

''I guess there’s no good way to say this - but with utmost sadness but gratitude to God , it’s difficult to announce the death of my father - Mallam Adamu A Maikori who passed away on Tuesday the 8th of September 2020 at the age of 78.

Everything I am is shaped in no small measure by this man. He was a lawyer , teacher , served his country as a Flight Cadet in the Nigerian Air Force between 1965 to 1967 , served as Director of Public Prosecutions in the Ministry of Justice of Kaduna state

( when Kaduna and katsina were still one state) , chief Registrar of the Kaduna High Court , and just when he was to be elevated to the judiciary as a judge - he switched lanes and moved to the private sector. Left Kaduna and relocated to Lagos where he worked as an Executive in Nigerian Merchant Bank between 1981- 1987 , then co-founded North South Bank between 1988 to early 1990’s . He later returned to his legal practice - AA Maikori and Co. the above are just broad highlights of his impressive career.

He taught me about hardwork, integrity, honesty and most importantly the place of God in my life.

Even my foray into entertainment was closely influenced by his love for music and that of my late mother. He was actually a choirmaster!

He leaves behind a loving wife (our second mother )Mrs Esther Maikori ,5 children and three grandchildren. But his spiritual children are countless.

I recall something he used to say when I was growing up He said to me “ I don’t care what you do- just be the best at it - even if you are going to be a thief - be so good that they won’t catch you “. He clearly wasn’t trying to encourage me to steal!! But you get the point.

I love you Dad , mentor , spiritual teacher and music sensei. I know you are resting with the Lord Jesus Christ and God the father for eternity!''

Terrifying superbugs far worse than coronavirus will soon 'wipe out 10m people a year'

Deadly superbugs far worse than Covid-19 are coming and will wipe out 10 million people a year - claiming the lives of 350m people by 2050 - top scientists have warned.

Shaving, childbirth, small scratches or routine operations like hip replacements will become life-threatening as medicine is put "back in the dark ages" and humans are unable to fight off any infection.

It is caused by over over-reliance on antibiotics which are on the brink of stopping working because they have become resistant. The crisis is being called the "biggest human health threat, bar none" by scientists.

And the use of antibiotics during the coronavirus crisis is speeding up the problem.

"If you thought Covid was bad, you don’t want anti-microbial resistance," said Dr Paul De Barro, biosecurity research director at Australia’s national science agency.

He added: "I don’t think I’m exaggerating to say it’s the biggest human health threat, bar none. Covid is not anywhere near the potential impact of AMR.

"We would go back into the dark ages of health.

"Simple things like scratches could kill you, childbirth could kill you, cancer treatment, major surgeries, diabetes, in the background in all of these, is often the use of antibiotics.

"You will end up with massive pressure on the health system – exactly the sort of things you are seeing with Covid. Think about intensive care units, hospital stays, access to medical treatment outside of the hospital system, the use of antibiotics in nursing, in treating pneumonia, all of these come into play."

The World Health Organisation says resistance to antibiotics will cause 350m deaths by 2050.

It is already to blame for at least 700,000 deaths globally a year but experts believe this is a massive underestimate.

The figure is expected to reach 10m deaths annually without intervention.

Coronavirus has caused almost 900,000 deaths worldwide, the latest World Health Organisation figures show - but the true number is likely to be much higher.

A top Brit scientist warned the mass use of alcohol-based hand gels could lead to an "armageddon situation" as unstoppable superbugs adapt to survive it.

Lincoln University academic Dr Andrew Kemp, who is the Head of Scientific Advisory Board on the British Institute of Cleaning Science, warns bacteria other than Covid-19 could adapt to survive the alcohol-based gels if we overuse them.

Serena Williams knocked out of the US Open by Victoria Azarenka

Serena Williams' quest for an historic 24th Grand Slam singles title came to a stunning end against old foe Victoria Azarenka in the semi-finals of the US Open in the early hours of Friday morning.

Williams was not helped by a jarred Achilles injury early in the deciding set that required heavy strapping and her quest to equal Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles goes on.

Instead, it is two-time Australian Open champion Azarenka who will face Naomi Osaka in a quite remarkable story of resurgence.

The 31-year-old had been a shadow of her former self since her stop-start return from maternity leave in 2017 and had almost been written off as a major contender prior to her victory on the same courts in the Western & Southern Open last month.

"I knew it wasn't over at 5-3," said the Belarusian. "I've been there before. Today was going to be different. I was young, my ego was way too big. Now it's a little smaller and the result's coming."

Confusion as FG makes a U-turn over ban on football

The Federal Government says it has not lifted the ban on contact sports, including football, amid preparations by Nigeria Professional Football League clubs ahead of the 2020/21 season.

National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Dr Sani Aliyu, while answering questions at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, said the PTF had only  removed restrictions on non-contact sports.

“On the issue, I’m a football fan, but sadly, we have not allowed contact sports at the moment. We have only allowed non-contact sports, and so, football is not included. All those football fans, it’s not yet time, but we are looking at this, and we will continue relaxing when the time comes and it is safe to do so,” Aliyu said.

This comes as a shock to the country’s teeming football populace, who heaved a sigh of relief last week, after the PTF, in its guidelines, stated it had removed restrictions on “sporting leagues.”

At last week’s press briefing, Aliyu said nothing had changed in sports, insisting that only non-contact sports were allowed to hold, but the PTF’s implementation guidelines for the phase three of eased lockdown, granted permission for resumption of sporting leagues without fans, which caused confusion amongst football stakeholders.

“Restriction is removed on outdoor communal (non-contact) sports and use of recreational parks for supervised physical exercise; and sporting leagues to resume with no fans in stadiums and with necessary NPIs to be directed by the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development and the NCDC (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control),” the guideline stated.

Secretary of the Club Owners Association, Alloy Chukwuemeka, told The PUNCH last week, “There is a bit of confusing information from the PTF. The document they released said all leagues should resume without fans, but the video of the (Aliyu’s) press briefing is something different.”

The new development has placed the resumption of the NPFL in the dark.

The League Management Company, organisers of the NPFL, had begun preparations towards resumption of the new season by sending notices to clubs to submit their licensing applications, a prerequisite for participating in the incoming season, which was being planned to begin in October.

Meanwhile, some players in the NPFL have lamented the latest twist.

“This is so sad to hear, because we’ve started training. I don’t know what we will do from here,” Lobi Stars defender Reuben Ogbonnaya told The Punch

Akwa United midfielder, Dare Ojo added, “What we heard is that they said football is resuming without fans. Now that you are telling me that we are not to resume again, I just can’t believe it. I just hope they find a solution to this quickly.”
