Security man arrested while planning to rob his employer in Ogun

Men of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command have arrested a 47-year-old security man, Adamu Ibrahim for allegedly conspiring with two other men to rob his employer.

The suspect, according to a statement by the command spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi is a security man attached to Inspiration filling station situated at Matogun area of Agbado in Ifo local government area of the state.

He was arrested following a report by the duo of Ajibola Yusuf and Bakare Ifakayode who reported at Agbado divisional headquarters that they received a phone call from the suspect that the manager of the fueling station will be leaving the station at about 8:00 pm with a huge amount of money running to 3 million naira.

They reported further that the suspect who described the manager and his motorcycle to them instructed them to ambush, rob him of the money and kill him so as not to trace the incident to them. They stated further that the suspect believes that as area boys, they will be useful for him to realize his devilish plan, though, they are area boys, they are not armed robbers.

“Upon the information, the DPO Agbado Division SP Kehinde Kuranga advised them to continue playing along with the suspect while he detailed his detectives to be on his trail”, the statement read.

“Unknown to the suspect, he was continuously calling the duo, giving them the description of the manager and the route he will be passing through when the police swooped on him and got him arrested”.

“Initially, he denied planning any robbery with anybody, but when confronted with his supposed accomplice, he owns up to the commission of the crime”.

On further interrogation, he confessed to the police that the two people he contracted resemble those who earlier robbed the same station years ago and that was the reason why he thought he can confide in them to carry out another robbery which he will benefit from”, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.

I will consider it demotion if invited to become Nigeria’s president – Oyedepo

Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo on Sunday said he would consider it a demotion if invited to become Nigeria’s president.

Oyedepo, during his sermon, said God specifically, in 1984 asked him if he was interested in going top and that he answered in the affirmative.

He said God told him, “Then whatever I tell you to do, do it. Don’t run around: whatever I tell you to do, do it. Don’t muse about: whatever I tell you to do. Don’t do what they do: do what I tell you to do.

“1984! Do you know that’s what led me to say, “I will consider it a demotion…” and I’m saying it again, some are very upset about it, that’s their problem.

“I will consider it a demotion if I were invited to be the President of this great country. It’s a great country, it’s a great honour for anyone to be President but that’s not where I belong. I belong to ‘above all nations,” he said.

According to Oyedepo, “Angry or happy, there are more than 100 nations now hooked on to this service; and we all belong there together. That’s where we belong. Some can see it, others can’t see it: They say, “I don’t believe it, I just need food, water and eat, drink and die. I don’t need above all nations.”

“I’ve said it before, “the highest concentration of giants in this generation will emerge from this platform.” If you are one of them, let me hear your loudest Amen. The same way, this Church did not need any human help to get to where we are, you won’t bow to any devil to scale any height in your life.

“Watch, if I’m the one to lift you, I can only take you to where my hand can reach. Imagine the everlasting arm of Jesus, He picks you up, scaling everlasting heights. I can’t get you there. There is no help from man under heaven no matter who that man that will compare with help from God.:

Friends watch helplessly as man dies during drinking spree in nightclub

A 56-year-old man died on Friday night while drinking alcohol at a Katoloni area nightclub in Machakos Town, Kenya

The man, who was in the company of his friends, is said to have fallen off his chair and died a few minutes to 10pm. Attempts by the middle-aged man’s friends to take him to hospital were futile as he died before reaching a nearby health facility.

Mbilini Sub-Location Assistant Chief Anthony Muasa told K24 Digital that the man had not eaten anything before taking to the bottle.

“Maybe the alcohol concentration in his body led to his collapsing and eventual death,” said Muasa.

The body of the reveller was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital morgue.

Police say a postmortem will be conducted on the deceased to ascertain his cause of death.

Solskjaer says 6-1 mauling by Spurs was his worst day at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says their 6-1 hammering at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL) on Sunday is his worst day at the club.

It was Manchester United’s joint worst loss in the Premier League era —- equalling their 6-1 defeat by Manchester City in 2011.

“It’s a horrible feeling, the worst day I’ve had as a Manchester United manager and player,” said the Norwegian after his side, reduced to 10 men for the last hour, were ripped apart by Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.

“I’ve been part of big defeats before and we’ve bounced back.

“So, we’ve just got to let the boys go away on international duty, find their mojo themselves and the others that are going to stay here, we’ve got to help them.

“After a result like this, you need to clear your mind and head and look forward,” said Solskjaer.

The defeat, coming before Monday’s transfer deadline, is sure to spark even more criticism of Manchester United’s failure to significantly strengthen Solskjaer’s squad during the summer window.

Solskjaer was a member of the Manchester United squad which won the UEFA Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup under Alex Ferguson in 1999.

But he said he was not going to use the situation to shield himself from criticism

“If it’s a different shape, mentality, I don’t know, but it will be different. We can’t accept performances like this.

“I hold my hands up, I’m in charge and I’m responsible for this,” he said.

Manchester United’s defending was shambolic as they trailed 4-1 at the break.

“Sometimes you make mistakes. That’s part of life and we made too many mistakes in one game of football and that shows in the result against a very good football team,” Solskjaer said.

“They are a team full of quality and we got punished almost every time we made a mistake.”

I broke down financially, emotionally during COVID-19 lockdown –Tacha

A former Big Brother Naija contestant, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, told her fans during the week that she had a breakdown during the lockdown declared at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The reality TV star made this known in a video shared on her YouTube channel during the week. She said, “I had a breakdown and I had to ask myself?

‘what is the world turning to? What have I learnt’? Back in school, we were taught to always learn moral lessons from stories. The moral lesson I learnt from the COVID-19 lockdown was to (always) spread love.

I had to speak to a life coach who told me I needed to take a break, even if it was for three days. It was so bad that I would just lay on my bed, cover myself with clothes and be shaking because I was sad. I did not enjoy that period. I did not enjoy seeing the bad news (all around). I kept taking ginger and garlic every day.”

She also stated that she thought the world was about to come to an end. “I was one of the people that thought the world was coming to an end during the COVID-19 lockdown.

I also asked, ‘Is God angry with us’? The lockdown really messed me up financially, emotionally and psychologically. It had a very bad effect on me.

There were a lot of rape cases during the lockdown and hearing of so many bad happenings affected my head. Whenever I am not online, it means I am taking a break from the negative happenings for the sake of my mental health.”

Advising her fans whom she calls ‘Titans’ to always show love, Tacha said, “2020 has taught me how to spread love. One minute you are seeing someone, the next minute, the person is no more. Even with all these, there are still people who like to put negative comments on one’s posts on social media. At this point, I don’t have words for anybody that spreads hate. This is the time we must spread love. We must make deliberate efforts to spread love.”

Mum 'kills her 3 year-old son before dumping his body in plastic bag filled with toys'

A mother murdered her three-year-old son and put his tiny body in a plastic bag along with the child's toys, it is claimed.

She then attempted to kill herself after taking his life, reports suggest.

Caroline Carrilho Correia, 29, told emergency responders she had killed her son at highway on the border between Curitiba and Campo Largo, Brazil, on Tuesday.

She was found on the banks of a nearby river where she had injured herself in an apparent suicide attempt.

The suspect then confessed that she had killed son, Isaac Carrilho Barbosa, and abandoned the body in the nearby woods, it is reported.

The tiny body in the bag filled with his toys was found a short while later.

No motive was given for the killing but there were suggestions that the mother felt neglected because her husband lavished so much attention on the child, reports in Brazil claim.

She was arrested and charged with murder after being sent to hospital where she had surgery.

Investigators are looking into where and when the child died but currently believe he died of strangulation.

Correia's lawyer, Igor Jose Ogar, told Extra: "She is hospitalized and sedated. The doctors have said she is not in a state to speak to detectives or myself.

"She still needs to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, and we will ask the courts for that."

The child's father, who lived with them and had been married to Correia for eight years was seen at the hospital to identify his son's body.

He later went to the police station to speak with investigators but was too emotional and shaken to give an interview.

Police chief Nasser Salmen said: “[The father] was here to get the autopsy guide.

"I was going to collect his testimony, but it turns out he was so emotionally shaken with grief in such a sad moment. I asked him to come here and give his testimony at a more opportune moment.”

"I thought about seizing his cell phone, but he kept staring at the device and cried all the time looking at the pictures of the child."

The couple had been living together and were living a normal family life at the time of the murder.

It is not known if he has filed for divorce against his wife, who is believed to have mental health issues.

Correia was discharged from hospital later in the week and interrogated by police to whom she confessed killing the child, however would not give a motive, according to Bandab News.

The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy is pending.

Designer handbag collection worth £25.5k

Stormi's designer handbag collection would have even the most decorated fashionista drool with envy.

EndSARS: Osinbajo breaks silence, says I'm very angry

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed disgust over the harassment of Nigerians by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

The Vice President, who spoke to State House Reporters during an interaction at his Abuja residence on Sunday, also hailed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, for banning routine patrol of the FSARS and other tactical squads of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Osinbajo also condemned the routine harassment of young Nigerians by operatives of the FSARS, describing the development as infuriating.

While condemning the actions of those officers he described as “bad eggs of the Force,” the Vice President asked the police to stick to their mandates.

“I am very concerned, in fact, very angry about what I see, happening to young men and women who are arrested, in some cases maimed or killed by men of the police force,” he said.

He also commended Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) for speaking up against injustices meted out by some security operatives on young

Such violations, according to Osinbajo, are “completely unacceptable because these are individuals who are meant to protect Nigerians. The arrest, maiming or killing of young people or anyone at all, is completely wrong. It is unlawful and illegal, and anyone involved in this act ought to be investigated and prosecuted.”

The Vice President said: “Today, I had a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, we reviewed several of these issues. The President and I have had discussions on this; he is very concerned about it. He wants to see a reform.

“You are probably aware that the IGP has issued a statement looking at all these issues, in particular, the warning against the use of these tactical units such as SARS for purposes of doing anything other than anti-robbery.

“For example, and I think in his statement, he specifically said that you cannot have a situation where SARS says, they are investigating Cybercrime by arresting young men and women carrying their laptops and phones. Cybercrime is an electronic crime. I don’t see how you can investigate that by seizing people’s phones in a taxi or in their cars.

“It is very obvious that this is a major concern, a few bad eggs in the police force are causing all of these problems because it is all over the place, in different states. There is a need to take serious action.

“The IG’s statement today, is a good first step. He has said clearly that police men must wear police uniforms. You cannot say that because you belong to a tactical unit, you can dress in your casual clothing and be armed because people can’t even tell the difference between robbers and the police, if you are not properly dressed in police uniform. So, clearly, a reform is in the offing.

“So, I will like to encourage civil society activists, young men and women, who bring this regularly, by the way, to the attention of government and the police.

“And I think that activism is important because they have been able to bring a lot of these issues to the attention of the police and government, and that is an important part of the process of the reform.”

Bode George: Lagos PDP gives Fayose seven days to apologise

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State Chapter, has given former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, seven days to apologise “for the deliberate unwarranted vituperation” on party elders in the state.

PDP Spokesman in the state, Taofik Gani, said in a statement that the denigration occurred when Fayose gave an advice which was capable of inciting the youth against the PDP chieftains in Lagos.

Fayose had during the inauguration of PDP Campaign Committee for the Lagos-East senatorial by-election on Tuesday, reportedly advised the party to send its former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, on “political retirement”.

According to a statement by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, titled ‘Lagos PDP must retire Bode George to make progress”, Fayose said such would help the party to make progress and win elections in Lagos State.

But the PDP spokesman urged Fayose not to be a negative role model to the younger ones in the party.

“Fayose will be declared Persona non grata in all her indoor and outdoor activities from Monday 12th October 2020, unless he, Fayose, purges himself of the grave nuisance value arising from the unsolicited and divisive advice,” Gani said.

He urged Fayose to desist from all provocative comments against party elders or any action inimical to the advancement of the PDP in the South West.

“Only a sadist, mischief maker or rooky politician, will decide to peel healing wounds, like creating more political foes, at a period very close to major elections.

“We are nearing very important elections in the state to take us into winning Lagos State in 2023 general elections.

“We need all togetherness and complimentary efforts possible of the old, young, male, female.

“It is thus shocking that a supposed leader would come to our state to ‘tear’ us apart rather than give positive and progressive uniting advice to us.

“We will hold Fayose responsible for any future election loss in Lagos State and indeed the South West,” the PDP said .”

‘The only way to fight corruption in Nigeria is to kill corrupt people’

Immediate past National Vice Chairman, North Central, APC, Ahmed Suleiman Wambai has said the only way to solve the problem of corruption in Nigeria is to kill those who are corrupt.

He said a revolution is needed to tackle corruption in Nigeria.

“There is so much corruption in the land and the only way to kill it is by revolution. Anybody found guilty of corruption should be killed.

“I cannot imagine how this country will be in the next 20 years considering the fact that corruption is permeating the lives of the youths and children,” he said in an interview with the Sun.

According to Wambai, Buhari alone could not fight corruption.

“President Buhari came when this country was heading to the point of no return. The healthcare, social services, leadership, human dignity were all lost. There was so much decay in the country due to the 16 years misrule.

“People from all corners of the country looked up to Buhari as a man of integrity, honesty. But there was a problem along the line. When he came with all the high expectations, nobody thought the situation will be like this. There was collapse in the economic indices. There was sharp drop in the price of crude oil in the international market.

“He could not do any magic to change the narratives of the market equilibrium of price fluctuation in the global market. But Nigerians failed to understand that Buhari was handicapped in dealing with the forces controlling the crude oil in the market. The good thing is that nobody can accuse Buhari of lacking in integrity, or that he is a corrupt leader,” he said.

According to him, “The biggest problem we have is the failure to realise that Buhari cannot be the governor of Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kano, Lagos and other states in the country. Corruption is already enshrined in our political system; economic, social and religious systems, including the clergies of the country.

The clergies and Ulamas are corrupt and Buhari cannot change them overnight. The biggest danger facing this country is that everybody is chasing wealth and riches. If only government will take strong stand against corruption so that whoever that is corrupt should be sanctioned heavily. If they do it successfully in China, we have to imitate the China model to live above board.

“If political leaders should imitate Buhari, all the Ministers, Judges, heads of agencies will not be found wanting. We are becoming inherently sick otherwise, how can someone steal money as huge as N1 billion or $1 million? We have seen Nigerians with oil wells, estates, other investments, yet they are not resting. Surprisingly, whether they got them fraudulently or genuinely, they won’t invest in areas to help the people.”

He added religious and tribal differences were others constituting major problems facing the country.
