United States of America President-elect, Joe Biden, has assured black voters of his support.
He said this in his victory speech on Sunday (Nigerian time).
Biden appreciated the voters for backing him in major cities.
Black voters helped Biden emerged victorious in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
“And especially for those moments when this campaign was at its lowest — the African American community stood up again for me. They always have my back, and I’ll have yours,” he said.
When assuring his support for African-Americans, he repeatedly slammed his fist on the podium and the crowd erupted in cheers.
According to Africa Business Insider, black voters, particularly in key cities such as Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia, were a critical factor in Biden’s success.
Exit polls revealed that 87 per cent of Black voters backed Biden compared to just 12 per cent for President Donald Trump, though they also indicated that Trump had improved his standing among Black voters compared to 2016.
Biden of the Democratic Party won Tuesday’s presidential election to become the 46th elected President of the United States.
Especially for those moments when this campaign was at its lowest — the African American community stood up again for me. They always have my back, and I’ll have yours.
The newly recruited constables into the Nigeria Police Force have cried out over the non-payment of their six months salaries.
The new constables who passed out of police colleges in April, told Daily Post exclusively that they are yet to be paid salaries since they joined the force.
Some of the policemen said they have been reporting at their respective duty posts without pay since April.
Pleading anonymity, the police recruits said they expected to be paid in October after going to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for IPPS documentation in September.
They lamented that other police officers were paid on Monday, but they were ignored.
“We are hungry. We have been working since April without any salary. Our commanders won’t stop posting us out for duties, despite the fact that we are not paid.
“Many of us till depend on our parents and relatives to feed ourselves. It’s been very tough. Many of us have borrowed money from people while also owing food vendors around our areas. Most times we wait by the roadside to get free ride, when we don’t have money for transport fare. This is not how officers of the law should be treated.
“Don’t forget that one of us was killed by armed robbers in Kogi on June 4. That’s the risk in this job, yet our welfare is not important to the authorities. How can anybody work for six months without being paid?
“If this had happened in the civil service, you would have seen them on the street with placards. But, we are voiceless. We dare not talk about it outside. We should be suffering and smiling. It doesn’t happen like that in other agencies,” some of the policemen told Daily Post in an exclusive interview.
The police constables appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to come to their rescue and save them from being dependent on others for daily bread.
Meanwhile, efforts to get the reactions of the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, was not successful.
Mba did not answer phone calls made to his line throughout Saturday, November 7.
Also, a text message sent to him is yet to be replied since yesterday.
But, a senior police officer confirmed to our correspondent that new constables are being subjected to all forms of financial embarrassment as a result of the non-payment of their wages.
The police officer said he was in support of the calls by the End SARS protesters to reform the Nigeria Police Force.
He expressed displeasure that the protest was hijacked by hoodlums, saying the fight was also for the freedom of the ranks and files in the job.
“These young cops were not paid since six months ago. Is that normal? We’re suffering in this job, but we can’t speak up. Look at our barracks and compare that to what obtains elsewhere. That’s why I’m so pained that the End SARS protest was hijacked by hoodlums.
“Those guys were also fighting for our freedom too, especially the ranks and files. The reform they are calling for will address all these anomalies in the force,” the Police Inspector said anonymously.
Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati could be set for a significant spell on the sidelines, after he suffered a serious knee injury during Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis on Saturday.
Barcelona confirmed that Fati did not come on for the second half after picking up an injury to his left knee, and could be out for a while.
The 18-year-old played the opening 45 minutes for La Blaugrana but was substituted at half-time by Ronald Koeman, who introduced Lionel Messi in his place.
Messi went on to turn the game in favour of his side netting a brace and helping his side run out hefty winners.
Fati’s injury is described as an ‘internal meniscus injury’ to his left knee, a blow that could leave the winger out of action for several months.
LATEST NEWS ‼ Tests carried out this afternoon have shown that Ansu Fati has an internal meniscus tear in his left knee. The treatment to be followed will be determined in the coming days. pic.twitter.com/CF3FZaur5P
Like her idol, Donald Trump, Texas based medical doctor and evangelical Christian, Stella Immanuel is not ready to accept the reality of emergence of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States.
Trump has refused to concede after Biden, secured the required number of electoral college votes to win the presidential race.
In a defiant statement shortly after Biden was projected winner, Trump said the election was “far from over”, and criticised Biden for “rushing to falsely pose as the winner”.
Speaking in the same vein, Dr Immanuel, who was shown on video praying for Trump as the counting of votes for last Tuesday’s election indicated that the Democratic candidate had taken lead over the sitting President said on Saturday in a post on his Facebook page that the battle for the presidency is not over.
“IT IS NOT OVER! THE STONE IS ABOUT TO DESCEND. THEY MAY MINGLE WITH US BUT THERE IS ABOUT TO BE A CRUSHING. KEEP PRAYING,” Immanuel said in a post in which she quoted Daniel 2:43-45.

IT IS NOT OVER! THE STONE IS ABOUT TO DECEND. THEY MAY MINGLE WITH US BUT THERE IS ABOUT TO BE A CRUSHING. KEEP PRAYING.
And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. Daniel 2:43-45
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder and president of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, said President Donald Trump is hated by many because he supports and protects Christians.
The clergyman made this known while speaking in his church on Friday, November 6.
Pastor Chris said, “There are those who think that Trump, the President of the United States, is hated by many Americans. He is not hated by many Americans.
I want to tell you the truth. He is not hatred, Trump is not the problem. They don’t hate Trump. They hate those that Trump seems to support.
“They are angry at Trump for supporting Christians. So the real ones they hate are you who are Christians. That is what the hatred of Trump is all about. It’s got nothing to do with Trump.
“Before he started giving his voice in support of Christians and before he started giving his voice in support of Israel, he was their darling, they loved him. But because he didn’t come for their sponsorship and they didn’t expect him to become President, they blamed the Christians for voting him into office and that is what they hate him for.
“If you are a Christian, better know this. Don’t think that if we just get Trump out of the way then everything will just calm. It will not be calm. They hate you and he seems to protect you, that is the problem.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated former Vice President Joe Biden on his election as President of the United States “at a time of uncertainty and fear in world affairs.”
The Nigerian leader said “your election is a significant reminder that democracy is the best form of government because it offers the people the opportunity to change their government by peaceful means.”
According to President Buhari, “the most powerful group are not the politicians, but voters who can decide the fate of the politicians at the polling booth.”
He noted that “the main fascination of democracy is the freedom of choice and the supremacy of the will of the people.”
The President added that “respect for the will of the people is the very reason why democracy remains the best form of government, despite its limitations from one polity to another, and from one society to another.”
“I am thrilled by the fact that you are an experienced politician who had served as Congressman for 40 years and a Vice President for eight years. This is a remarkable track record that gives us hope that you will add value to the presidency and world affairs.”
President Buhari also noted that, “with your election, we look forward to greater cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, especially at economic, diplomatic and political levels, including the war against terrorism.”
On international affairs, President Buhari urged Mr. Biden to “deploy your vast experience in tackling the negative consequences of nationalist politics on world affairs which have created divisions, conflicts and uncertainties.”
The Nigerian leader also called on Mr. Biden “to introduce greater engagement with Africa on the basis of reciprocal respects and shared interests.”
The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has shut down a tertiary institution following the discovery of a COVID-19 case.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday in Ibadan by Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Seyi Makinde on behalf of the Task Force.
The statement noted that the Task Force has begun contact tracing while subjecting every possible contact to necessary surveillance.
The management of schools, workplaces and religious centres were also enjoined to ensure strict compliance with the established COVID-19 protocols.
“The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) of the Task Force has immediately ordered a lock-in of the affected tertiary institution to keep staff, students, and the general public safe.
“The EOC has also kick-started contact tracing while subjecting every possible contact to necessary surveillance,” the statement reads in part.
The Taskforce urged the public not to panic as all necessary protocols needed for effective management and psychosocial support had been instituted.
It called on the public to remain vigilant.
“The Taskforce essentially wishes to implore considerable restraint at closed gatherings and environments, especially in closed educational, religious and social environment.
“It is important to note that these measures are not in any way punitive but are essentially aimed at protecting the lives of all and sundry from the menace of the virus, as well as prevent the spread of the virus within our communities.
“All hygienic practices associated with the preventive protocols are to be properly adhered to, while the utilization of safety devices, as well as social distancing, should also be upheld.
“In Oyo State, the slogan has been ‘Own Your Action (OYA)’’.
The task force urged the residents to take responsibility for their actions as such actions would have a collective impact on all.
“This election is about so much more than Joe Biden or me,” Kamala Harris stated as she becomes the vice-president-elect of the United States of America.
Joe Biden won the presidency which makes Kamala the first woman, and a woman of color to be elected to such a position in the White House.
Joe Biden won by clinching Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes on Saturday morning, after days of painstaking vote counting following record turnout across the country.
The win in Pennsylvania took Biden’s electoral college vote to 284, surpassing the 270 needed to win the White House.

Donald Trump, who frequently compares his presidency as next to Abraham Lincoln’s, has become the 11th president to be ousted from the White House after serving only one term in office.
His loss to Democrat rival Joe Biden saw him join the dreaded single-term president’s club – and made him the first man to do so since George H W Bush lost to Bill Clinton in 1992 after just four years in office.
Most single-term presidents are Republican, with presidents at greater risk of serving only a single term if the country faces economic hardship and sharply divided public opinion – both of which have beset Trump.
George HW Bush was ousted after a single term after struggling with an economic recession and decreased focus on foreign policy.
He was also unfavourably compared to Bill Clinton, who dazzled voters with his charisma and was hugely popular with black voters.
Gerald Ford, the 38th president, faced scrutiny for his pardoning of Richard Nixon and presided over the worst economy since the Great Depression in his term, which lasted from 1974 to 1977.
Trump frequently gave pardons to his supporters and political allies, with controversial grants of clemency to people like political adviser Roger Stone and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Another Republican who only served one-term was Herbert Hoover, who believed that government should stay out of relief efforts during the Great Depression from 1929 to 1933.
He was preceded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, arguably one of the most influential US presidents, whose ‘New Deal’ stimulus plan brought America’s economy out of the gutter.
In comparison, Trump was weak on stimulus packages throughout most of the pandemic, leading Americans to struggle on their own as millions continue to be unemployed throughout the country.
And there was William Taft, a Republican president from 1909 to 1913. Theodore Roosevelt, who had already served as president and was beloved by the American people, ran against Taft as a third-party candidate to siphon votes away so that Woodrow Wilson could come away with the victory.
The only 20th century Democrat to serve one term was Jimmy Carter, from 1977 to 1981, whose anti-war policy led to American servicemen dying in a botched attempted to save hostages in Iran.
Ronald Reagan defeated Carter in a landslide victory, which brought in a new era of Republican politics that included a massive ‘war on drugs’ policy, resulting in mass incarcerations of people of colour.

The students protested at the Lagos State Court of Arbitration, Lekki, venue of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on SARS abuses.
Pelumi died in the custody of the Lagos State Task Force.
The deceased was reportedly hit by bullet from policemen deployed to a charged scene.

The anxious waiting is over: Joe Biden has been elected the 46th President of the United States, the CNN and AP reported.
The 77 year-old Democratic candidate won the decisive battleground state of Pennsylvania on Saturday.
He thus clinched 273 electoral college votes, three more than he needed to win the presidency.
He is the oldest American to be elected President.
Making history with him is his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris, an African Asian American, who has become the first woman of colour to be elected as vice-president.
In defeating President Donald Trump, the fourth candidate to defeat an incumbent, Biden is positioning himself to lead a nation gripped by historic pandemic and a confluence of economic and social turmoil.
As AP reported, Biden staked his candidacy less on any distinctive political ideology than on galvanizing a broad coalition of voters around the notion that Trump posed an existential threat to American democracy.
The strategy proved effective, resulting in pivotal victories in Michigan and Wisconsin as well as Pennsylvania, onetime Democratic bastions that had flipped to Trump in 2016.
Biden, who has received more than a record 74 million votes, the most in history, had previously declared:
“I will govern as an American president. There will be no red states and blue states when we win. Just the United States of America.”
It was a stark contrast to Trump, who up till Saturday was still trying to discredit the US democracy, by alleging vote counting fraud.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of police personnel attached to Femi Fani-Kayode, Hon. Abiola Sidna Peller, Sen. Magnus Abe, Emeka Offor and others.
The IGP directive also affected corporate and religious bodies like Christ Embassy, Think Nigeria First Initiative, Uche Sylva International, Stanel Groups, KYC Holding, Sheiks and Bishops and many more.
Some other personalities on the list include: Sen Lado Yakubu, Amb Yuguda Bashir, Hon. Uche Chukwu, Sen. Boroface Ajayi, Hon Mutiu Nicholas, Sen Tokumbo Fikayomi, Edozie Madu, David Adesanya, Hon. Chris Giwa, Chief Godwin Ekpo, Chief Pius Akinyelure and others.
Adamu during the End SARS protest in October, ordered the withdrawal of police escorts attached to VIPs.
But, according to a police letter sighted by Daily Post and signed by DCP Idowu Owohunwa, the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, on November 4, it was stated that: “The attention of the IGP has been drawn to the fact that the police personnel attached to the corporate bodies and personalities are yet to be withdrawn in spite of extant directives to that effect.”
In the letter tagged CB: 4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.116/32 and made available to CP PMF, CP SPU, CP CPU and all Commissioners of Police in the 36 states and the FCT, it was directed, in line with the subsisting order, that commanders “withdraw all the PMF, SPU, CTU, or conventional police operations attached to the affected companies or individuals in any of their locations across the country with immediate effect.
The concerned commanders are to submit a report confirming compliance to the office of the IGP, not later than Tuesday, November 10.
Armed protesters have been seen gathering outside offices where election workers are counting the votes that will decide who wins the US presidential race.
According to Al Jazeera, some of the angry protesters carry shotguns; some have handguns while some other carry black, military-style semi-automatic rifles.
According to the report, the protesters with weapons are a small minority of the demonstrators and that there have been no reports of anyone being shot.
Moreover, laws in the States, Arizona and Michigan, where the guns are seen at counting units, allow people to openly carry firearms in public.
Experts have warned that firearms could create a dangerous situation that could be seen as intimidation or tip easily into violence.
“The more we see, the more people see it as a normal reaction – even though it’s not. There’s nothing normal about it,” Cynthia Miller-Idriss, a professor at American University told Al Jazeera.
“The potential for violence becomes normalised,” she added.
There is the believe that the armed protesters showed up at the vote-counting centres following President Donald Trump’s allegations that the Democrats are trying to steal the election.

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed without evidence that bad things’ happened at counting centres in Pennsylvania and other states, where his overnight lead on Tuesday, against Joe Biden, went up in smoke.
In four tweets now flagged by Twitter police as conveying false and misleading information, Trump alleged a lot of things.
He claimed among others that “Tractors blocked doors & windows were covered with thick cardboard so that observers could not see into the count rooms”.
Read his tweets:
“Bad things took place during those hours where LEGAL TRANSPARENCY was viciously & crudely not allowed. Tractors blocked doors & windows were covered with thick cardboard so that observers could not see into the count rooms. BAD THINGS HAPPENED INSIDE. BIG CHANGES TOOK PLACE!
“This would ALSO change the Election result in numerous States, including Pennsylvania, which everyone thought was easily won on Election Night, only to see a massive lead disappear, without anyone being allowed to OBSERVE, for long intervals of time, what the happened…
“Tens of thousands of votes were illegally received after 8 P.M. on Tuesday, Election Day, totally and easily changing the results in Pennsylvania and certain other razor thin states. As a separate matter, hundreds of thousands of Votes were illegally not allowed to be OBSERVED…
“People were screaming STOP THE COUNT & WE DEMAND TRANSPARENCY (As Legal Observers were refused admittance to count rooms)!
One dude also bought mine before i realised how important it is and is yet to give us -- ladunliadi.com. Even when we wanted to change o, we offered him N500k, dude stood on N3m from N5m, we said okay, keep it -- we will change everything to ladunliadinews, LMAOO. Till date he has it.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) operatives will begin to bear firearms to curtail the excesses of road users in Nigeria.
The House of Representatives Committee on FRSC made the disclosure during the corps’ 2020 budget performance and 2021 budget defence, on Thursday in Abuja.
The Chairman, Akinfolarin Mayowa, explained that the 1992 Act of FRSC allowed the corps to carry guns, NAN reports.
Mayowa said the implementation had become necessary to ensure laws were obeyed and to allow the FRSC function effectively.
He disclosed that the committee would meet with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and also write to President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the Act.
A member, Solomon Maren, added that the committee would discuss the matter with the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
The lawmaker said there were more risks on the roads, adding that the FRSC should now bear arms.
