The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday said it has discovered another baby factory home in Mowe town of Obafemi-Owode local government area of the state.
The command’s public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known in a statement, adding that the discovery of the home located at Lagos Street, Adesan in the town, followed a complaint from concerned residents of the area.
He said the residents had informed the police at Mowe divisional headquarters that a particular building in their area was strongly suspected to be a baby making factory, as most of the women seen there were always with pregnancy and whenever they delivered, they hardly see them with babies.
Mr Oyeyemi said the complainants stated further that from their observation, the babies are being sold.
The DPO Mowe division, Marvis Jayeola, led his men to the area where a man, who is suspected to be working for the operator of the home, was arrested with four women and four children.
He said one of the women is heavily pregnant while another is said to have just delivered a baby, which has been sold.
He also added that preliminary investigation revealed that the home is linked to a woman, Florence Ogbonna, who had earlier been arrested for a similar offence with her case pending in court.
The Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered a manhunt for Mrs Ogbonna, and also ordered the case be transfered to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has denied ordering or giving permission to a suit filed by the police challenging the constitutionality of the judicial panels set up by various state governments to investigate police brutality.
Mr Adamu has, therefore, queried the legal officer of the police over the filing of the suit, an official said Thursday.
The police made this known in a statement by its spokesperson, Frank Mba, on Thursday evening.
Several media organizations had reported that the police filled a suit at the Federal High Court, seeking to disband the panel’s nationwide.
According to a report by The Cable newspaper, the suit with file number FHC/ABJ/CS/1492/2020, sought to quash the panels across all states.
The panels were constituted nationwide to look into allegations of human rights abuses by the defunct police squad, SARS.
The constitution of the panels was one of the major concessions granted by the government to #EndSARS protesters in October.
Many state governments have since set up the panels and hearing has since begun.
Mr Mba in his statement said Mr Adamu has since launched an investigation into the origin of the suit.
He said the police chief has also vowed to sanction whosoever is behind the suit.
“The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has directed immediate investigations into a suit purportedly challenging the legality of the States’ Judicial Panel of Inquiry, investigating allegations by citizens against officers of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS),” he said.
“The IGP, who gave the order on the heels of trending reports in the media, today 3rd December, 2020, expressed the disapproval of the Force Management Team on the matter and ordered investigations into the alleged role of the Force Legal Section including its Head.
“Meanwhile, the Force Legal Officer has been queried and may face further sanctions if found guilty of dereliction of duty.
“The IGP reiterates the commitment of the Force to fulfilling all its obligations with regards to the disbandment of the defunct SARS, the ongoing Judicial Panels and all other police reforms,” he said,

A Russian YouTuber was arrested following a sickening live broadcast in which his pregnant girlfriend died after he was paid to subject her to cruel abuse.
Egged on by his online audience, Stas Reeflay allegedly forced Valentina Grigoryeva out on a balcony in sub-zero weather wearing only her underwear.
Reeflay, 30, was paid $1,000 (£800) by a viewer to inflict the abuse on her during his live stream, according to a report by Baza media.
Valentina, 28 - who was in the early stages of pregnancy - died of hypothermia at his rented house in Ivanovka village, near Moscow.
Her shocking death has led to calls in Russia for an urgent ban on online "reality violence", which appears unrestricted on YouTube and can be watched by children.
Reeflay - real name Stanislav Reshetnikov - kept the YouTube camera rolling even as he realised Valentina was “half dead”.
In footage too disturbing to show, he can be seen carrying her back inside and attempting to revive her.
He is heard saying: “Valya, are you alive? My bunny, what’s up with you?
“Valya, Valya, damn, you look like you are dead.
“Bunny, come on… tell me something. I'm worrying. Damn... I'm not feel her heartbeat.”
He then tells his viewers: “Guys... No pulse... She’s pale. She is not breathing.”
The horrific broadcast continued to his tens of thousands of followers even after he called an ambulance.
He is heard saying: "Wake up, Valya, I love you, wake up.”
And the camera was still live when paramedics arrived and pronounced her dead.
The broadcast continued for two hours after she had died, it is believed.
Reeflay makes money from online "donations" from his Russian and international audience.
In a previous broadcast he had showered Valentina with pepper spray.
A friend of the dead woman said his live streaming had been “full of cruelty” towards her.
Reshetnikov was held by police who attended the scene, and was interrogated over the broadcast and his girlfriend's death.
He faces up to two years in prison if forensic experts prove she died of hypothermia, say reports citing law enforcement.
“Information will also be checked about possible unlawful actions against the deceased by the young man in whose house the body was found,” said the Russian Investigative Committee.

The Defence Headquarters has dismissed the claim by Boko Haram terrorists that the recent massacre of rice farmers in Borno was retaliation for the arrest of one of them.
The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, said this while giving an update on the operations of the armed forces between November 26 and December 2 on Thursday in Abuja.
The terrorist group had on Tuesday released a video claiming that the terrorists carried out the massacre in retaliation for the arrest of one of them by the farmers.
They also claimed that the farmers had also given information on their movement in the area to the military.
Enenche said the claim was the practice of the sect with the sole motive of instigating fear in the minds of the people to discourage them from cooperating with the security agencies.
He said that the information received by the military from one of the survivors revealed that the farmers were called for a meeting with the terrorists on the sad day before they were slaughtered.
“The truth is that whenever they are losing ground as a result of the military activities, this is what they resort to.
“It is a fallacy because we killed one of them and that the farmers gave information about them, but the likelihood is wickedness.
“They want to use that to instill fear in the minds of the people because they have seen the governor trying to make sure that people return to their homes,” he said.
