Some busybodies swore that the spate of visits and visitors is all about 2023.

Tinubu is yet to announce any interest in the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, but the train of visitors to Bourdillon is making people jump to conclusions.

His latest visitor on Tuesday was Rashidi Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State, who was in PDP, Accord Party, African Democratic Congress and now Zenith Labour Party.

They were also members of the Social Democratic Party and joined NADECO in the turbulent days of 1993 June 12 struggle.

Woman electrocuted after dropping charging iPhone in the bath

A woman was electrocuted after suffering a massive electric shock when her charging iPhone fell in her bath.

Olesya Semenova, 24, was found by her flatmate at their home in Russian city Arkhangelsk.

'I screamed, shook her, but she was pale, did not breathe and showed no signs of life,' distraught friend named Daria, an estate agent, told the emergency operator.

'I was really scared. When I touched her, I got an electric shock.

'There was a smartphone in the water, it was charging.'

Paramedics confirmed that Ms Semenova - who worked in a clothes shop - had died in the bath and that her iPhone 8 had fallen into the water when plugged into the mains.

A selfie video from a year ago shows her in her bath.

The Russian emergencies ministry issued a warning after the tragedy, the latest of a number of such fatalities in the country.

'The tragedy once again reminds us that water and an electrical appliance connected to the mains are incompatible.

'The same applies to any mobile device.

'If you drown a smartphone, the worst thing is its failure.

'But when it is connected to the network, we see what the consequences are.'

Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas finally gets number one, 28 years after its release

Mariah Carey's Christmas classic All I Want for Christmas Is You has finally hit the number one spot in the UK charts, 28 years after its release.

The festive song, which was released in 1994, has only ever reached number two in the Official Charts Company, UK Top 40, despite its huge popularity.

But now, the 50-year-old superstar has made history as her iconic tune hits the top spot on the rival chart The Official Big Top 40 – Global radio's chart show across their Capital and Heart networks.

The song has only hit number six in Global’s rankings in previous years but thanks to a huge push from fans, Mariah is sitting firmly at the top.

Fans of the singing sensation have been campaigning for her festive track to hit the big time.

Mega fan Jeffrey Ingold was the face of the push, taking to Twitter to encourage music lovers to stream her song.

“No one deserves a UK #1 more than @MariahCarey and so I went on national television to talk about this historic moment & my festive queen!” he tweeted earlier this week, sharing a clip of him on Channel Five news.

“I can’t even put into words how exciting it is,” he could be heard saying in the video.

“I know how much it will mean to Mariah. She cares so much about her music and she loves Christmas.

“That’s what makes me love Christmas and this song captures the spirit of Christmas for so many people.”

Oshiomhole rules out returning as APC national chair

Against speculations, the sacked former national chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed the possibility of leading the party again even if the party’s NEC decides in his favour on Tuesday.

“That chapter of my political life is closed. Even if another NEC decision or a court order reverses the dissolution, with utmost humility I will decline to return as APC chairman,” he said.

Mr Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party was dissolved almost six months ago amidst the crisis rocking the party.

The decision, taken at the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting attended by President Muhammadu in June, ushered an interim committee tasked to organise a convention where the party’s new executives will emerge in the next six months.

However, rather than announce a date for the party’s convention, Mala-Buni-led committee has called for another NEC meeting, which critics have predicted is planned to give an extension of tenure for the caretaker committee.

Mr Buhari is expected to participate in the virtual NEC meeting slated for Tuesday.

After months of staying off the radar, Mr Oshiomhole on Tuesday lashed at his c

ritics who he said were linking him to the lawsuits filed by some members of the dissolved NWC against the party despite Mr Buhari’s warning.

“In reporting the legal action taken by a member of the dissolved National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), some attributions have been made to the effect that plaintiff is an “ally of Oshiomhole” or an “associate of Oshiomhole”. The court documents are clear on who is the plaintiff,” he said.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the 21-member NWC under my leadership largely worked cohesively and harmoniously. The only exceptions were those of the three members used by forces desperate to take control of the party. They contrived a crisis and abused the judicial process to undermine the constitution and integrity of the party.

“The majority of 18 members worked as a team and not as allies or loyalists of anybody,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Mr Oshiomhole said he had long accepted his dismissal as the party chair and should not be held responsible for the actions of others based on his affiliation with them.

He expressed his gratitude for the support he has enjoyed from Mr Buhari and said he was ready to continue to work with his administration.

Fresh protests: Any act of hooliganism will be dealt with - President Buhari says

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, said his regime will deal decisively with “any act of hooliganism hiding behind peaceful protests.”

He said although his regime believed in the rights of citizens to embark on peaceful protests, such must be done responsibly.

Buhari stated these while virtually declaring open the Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference 2020 from the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

At a time when there are reports of possible repeat of the recent #EndSARS protests, Buhari regretted the violence that trailed the last protests.

He said, “Let me also mention the EndSARS protest which was recently hijacked by hoodlums which resulted in loss of lives and property in many situations across the country.

“I want to reiterate our government’s commitment to the rights of citizens to embark on peaceful protests.

“However, this must be done responsibly in accordance with the laws of the land.

“I also want to state that any act of hooliganism hiding behind the peaceful protests, will be highly dealt with decisively to ensure the peace and stability of our nation.

“On this note, I commend the Nigeria Army for their efforts to swiftly restore law and order in many states during the last scale of criminality that ensued in the wake of the EndSARS protests.”

He says they keep telling him she is around the corner and he has searched everywhere, yet can't find her.

He also boasted he knows he would be one of the best dads in the world.

He told the paper; “One kid is okay for me. Nigeria is expensive. Having children in Nigeria is extremely expensive. I drop cap for you all that have three. I will focus my energy on one child, maximum two children. I am not saying that children are not the best gift from God but they are expensive. I will want the best for my kids because I always want the best for my friends’ kids.”

“If possible, I’ll just want to be a baby daddy. I’ll just tell the lady to give me the baby and go and enjoy herself. I will take it from there. I don’t mind being a baby daddy. I will be one of the best father figures in the world. The child will not remember he or she has a mother.”

When asked if the woman was already there, the entertainer replied; ”I am not even searching anymore because this searching is too much. They keep saying that your life partner is around the corner. Grieving son, 41, took own life 8 days after his mum died

A devastated man took his own life eight days after his beloved mother died.

Wayne Sant, from Bucknall in Stoke-on-Trent, was found unresponsive in his bathroom and pronounced dead a short time later.

An inquest heard the 41-year-old had been depressed after his mother died and had taken a number of drugs which had caused his death, reports Stoke on Trent Live.

Wayne's father, David Sant, said Wayne’s mother Brenda had passed away on January 20.

He said in a statement: “During the eight days since his mother’s death Wayne had not been coping and had been depressed.

"He made a comment that he didn’t know how he was going to cope without his mum.”

On January 29, Mr Sant went out leaving Wayne – who lived with him – at home. When he returned, Wayne was in the bathroom.

Mr Sant said: “The door was closed. I spoke to him because it was time for me to take him to the chemist. He said, ‘I’m sorry, Dad’. I understood that to mean he was sorry that he wasn’t ready in time.

“About five minutes later I heard a thud. I went to the bathroom but I couldn’t open the door.”

Mr Sant forced his way in to find Wayne lying on the floor. An ambulance was called and he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, but he could not be resuscitated.

Tests revealed he had a number of drugs in his system. The cause of death was recorded as mixed drug toxicity.

The inquest heard Wayne had been a long-term drug user. He was receiving assistance from drug abuse services and was on a prescription for methadone.

Two days before he died, he had told his GP he was having trouble sleeping since the death of his mum. He denied having suicidal thoughts and was prescribed a sleeping pill.

Recording a conclusion of suicide, area coroner Emma Serrano said she believed Wayne deliberately took an overdose.

She said: “I am satisfied Wayne Sant intended to take his own life. His mum had died eight days previously and he was not coping well.

"He had expressed a view that he did not know how he would cope without her.

“He had taken himself to the bathroom and locked the door, not wanting to be found, and did so while his father wasn’t at the address.

"The quantity of substances he had taken tips the balance for me.”
