They were arrested four days later by policemen attached to the Sango Divisional Police Office.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.

Oyeyemi explained that the suspects were arrested following a report lodged at the Sango Police Station by the victim.

He said the teenager reported that Oyeniyi and Okori, who were her neighbours, dragged her into the room of one of them, stripped her naked, filmed her nude and took turns to rape her several times.

The police spokesman said, “Upon the report, the DPO Sango division, CSP Godwin Idehai, detailed his detectives to go after the suspects and bring them to book.

“The investigative effort of the detectives paid off on December 16, 2020, when the duo were eventually arrested.

“On interrogation, the two suspects confessed to the crime.

“They confessed that they videoed her nude, which they used to threaten her not to report or else the video would be posted on social media.

“The state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.”

EPL: No player is bigger than Manchester United – Solskjaer warns Pogba

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has reminded French star, Paul Pogba, that no one is bigger than the club.

This is as the war of words between the manager and Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola rumbles on.

Solskjaer, who yesterday completed two years in charge of United, said, “I would just not stand for anyone thinking that he is bigger than Manchester United.

“No one is. Absolutely no one and Paul knows this. It is not only for Paul. It is for all of us.”

The controversial Raiola angered the United boss earlier in the month by claiming it was time Pogba left Old Trafford.

“Paul was here as a kid in the Under-18s. We signed him early on and he comes with the Manchester United DNA in him,” Solskjaer told a press conference ahead of United’s clash with Leeds.

“He knows what we are about. United is about being in a team and Paul has always been an ambitious boy who loves playing football.

“He trains well, he never refuses to train or play, he has a good attitude.

“In fact, I rarely speak to agents.

“I want players who can handle life as well. You can’t just go through agents..

Residents protest erection of gas plant within estate over fear of explosin

Residents of Aerodrome GRA in Ibadan have protested the erection of a gas plant within the estate due to incidences of gas explosions in the country.

The residents under the umbrella of Aerodrome GRA Homeowners and Residents (AGRA) appealed to the Oyo State government, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to immediately revoke and stop the construction of the LPG gas plant in the area.

Daily Post gathered that a gas plant is currently under construction in the estate but residents while protesting, insisted that citing the project in the area poses a lot of danger to both residents and other citizens.

AGRA Vice President, Professor Omolola Atalabi, while addressing journalists at the weekend, begged the state government to save residents from the imminent danger.

Atalabi who spoke on behalf of over one thousand residents of the area maintained that proper Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which is a part of the conditions for the establishment of a gas plant, was not carried out before the purported approval was granted.

Atalabi called for immediate revocation of the approval purportedly granted to the gas plant.

She added that the protest against the construction of the gas plant became necessary to avoid what happened at Abule Egba in Lagos State where about 23 people were killed and to avoid a similar occurrence where many lives were lost during a gas explosion in Kaduna State.

“We are shocked and dismayed that approval could have been given for such construction, considering the obvious health hazards and other environmental dangers of siting a gas plant in a gated community such as the Aerodrome GRA.

“In the wake of several gas explosions in various parts of the country, the point cannot be overemphasized that it is inappropriate to locate a gas plant in the precincts of Aerodrome GRA, as the emission of substances from the plant will be hazardous to residents, and the devastations of fire outbreaks cannot be ruled out. The scientific evidence for these occurrences is incontrovertible. Several examples abound.

“In March 2020, 23 people were killed and 50 residential buildings destroyed at Abule-Ado Area, Lagos state, as a result of an explosion at a gas station sited within the residential area. In July 2020, there was a gas explosion at the Kaduna LPG which claimed several lives and properties. In September 2020, another explosion in the Orile Area of Lagos led to the destruction of residential buildings, just to mention a few examples.

“In addition to the lessons from the unfortunate incidents listed above, which clearly illustrate the dangers of locating gas plants in residential communities, paragraph 2.3 (g) of the Guidelines for the approval of License for construction/installation, modification, relocation and operation of Liquified Petroleum Gas, 2018 issued by the Department for Petroleum Resources (DPR) provides that “the proposed site shall not constitute threats or hazards to the area”.

“We have every reason to believe that a proper Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which is a part of the condition precedent for the establishment of a gas plant, was not carried out 1 the purported approval was granted.

“We appeal to concerned authorities, including the Oyo State Government and DPR, to save us from the imminent danger to our lives posed by the construction of the gas plant.”

Nigerian doctor attempted to strangle two sons before shooting self, wife in US

The police in the US are investigating the death of a Nigerian couple believed to have resulted from murder-suicide.

Dr. Ben Okigbo and his wife, Theresa, were found dead in their Sugar Land, Texas home on Friday morning, according to police.

The discovery was said to have been made around 10:05 am at the Greatwood Subdivision in the 1500 block of Brookstone Lane.

“One of the kids dialed 911 (the emergency police number), apparently there was a fight or disturbance going on inside the resident,” Police chief, Eric Robins, said.

The police said that when officers arrived, they found the couple dead inside the home.

“It appears that it could be a potential murder-suicide but it has not been totally ruled,” Chief Robins said.

Police said the couple’s three adult children were also at the scene, with two of them suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Neighbours were said to have been shocked when they heard the news.

A neighbor, Ace Walker, said he was shocked to see police cars and crime tape in his neighbourhood.

“It’s like right down the street so that’s really wild,” he said.

Steven Nelson, who lives down the street, says the neighbourhood has always been quiet.

Nelson said he had seen the husband before, while walking his dog.

“It’s shocking for all of us because you just don’t expect something like that to happen here; it’s always somewhere else,” he said.

It’s still unclear about what happened and how the couple died.

“My heart goes out to them. That’s really sad,” Walker said.

Chief Robins said it’s a tough situation, especially with Christmas a week away.

“We try to make sure our residents are safe in the City of Sugar Land.

“But when these types of things happen, especially during this time of the year, holiday season with everything else that is going on, we ask people who have crisis in their home to seek out and reach help,” he said.

While the police was yet to identify the couple, a Facebook post by the Rector at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Houston said: Dear friends, the causes for grief in 2020 seem to multiply.

“I am very sad to inform you that Ben and Theresa Okigbo died this morning at their home in Sugarland.

“Their sons Peter and Paul were transported to Memorial Sugarland Hospital, but have since been released.

“Currently, they are with their sister Laura, in the care of their uncle, Ben Okoh.

“This news is absolutely devastating for our Epiphany family, especially for many of our Nigerian members, whose lives and hearts were touched so profoundly by Ben and Theresa.

“We have no good answers, only broken hearts to bring to our Lord Jesus. And there is no better place for our broken hearts to be than in his care.

“I assured Ben and Laura that their Epiphany family is ready to surround them with grace and mercy, and to be of any assistance we can to these three children who will now grapple with the loss of two parents.

“Keep them in your prayers. More information will follow as plans are made.”

Lizzy Anjorin sends warning to Governor Sanwo-Olu [video]

Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal has sent a warning message to Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the imminent second lockdown of the state.

She aired her frustrations on Saturday in a video posted on her Instagram page.

According to her, it would be unfair if the state government declared another lockdown due to the increasing covid-19 cases in Nigeria.

”I saw something dangerous that is about to happen in Lagos. I’m not sure Lagos State Governor is aware. During the #EndSARS protest, I went to police stations and not protest grounds.

”Mr Governor, I have an expo for you but I beg you in the name of almighty Allah, allow people to run their businesses. Poverty is deadlier than coronavirus. People are hungry.

”Check your neighbours, check everyone (rich and middle-class), everyone is suffering. If you lock people down again, they wouldn’t come with only #EndSARS, they will come something much worse and you can’t kill everyone.

”Even you wouldn’t have peace when the killings start. Go and write it down, you might think I’m not sensible but countries that go on lockdown, provide for their citizens. They don’t hoard palliative like Nigeria.

”Recall how many people died while savaging for palliative. Give us one million naira each before embarking on another lockdown”, she said.

My profile rose after disqualification from BBN –Tacha

A former Big Brother Naija contestant and social media influencer, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, would not forget her disqualification from the reality TV show in a hurry.

Recounting the sad experience on her YouTube channel, Tacha stated that though it was a low moment for her, God elevated her.

She said, “On September 27, 2019, I was disqualified from Big Brother Naija. That was a very low moment for me, having almost got to the finals and being dropped. Getting disqualified was one of the low moments of my life. I felt down.

There were times I would be all by myself and start crying that I almost got to the last day of the show. It really shook me and a lot of people. But, I got elevated somehow, and I still don’t know how that happened.

There is a stigma behind getting disqualified but I am still doing well a year later. I consider that to be a huge elevation. Some people have gone through such moments in their lives and still have not been able to get back on their feet. For me, it was a different ball game.

Tacha also stated that a year after her disqualification, things started getting tough for her again. She added, “Few people in my circle started acting awkward.
