OMG! 16-year old girl calls out Ogun State Commissioner, accuses him of FONDLING HER BREASTS as she SEEKS JUSTICE

A 16-year-old girl, Barakat Mayowa, has accused the Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abdul-Balogun, of sexual harassment which allegedly occurred at Ita Otu, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.

Mayowa recounted that the sexual harassment occurred on Thursday, December 31, in the commissioner’s apartment, where he allegedly fondled her breasts and muttered incantations while she screamed and struggled to free herself from his grip.

The victim, in her confession to the police at the Abigi Division, narrated that the commissioner’s aides lured her to his house and to his bedroom, after which the commissioner came in and bolted the door.

In the video recording, believably done by a police investigator and obtained by SaharaReporters, the victim, a Senior Secondary School 3 student, added that the commissioner allegedly caressed her body, while offering her money.

She said she resisted the money and screamed, before she was eventually allowed to go.

Mayowa said, “What transpired between me and honourable (the commissioner) is that on December 29, which was a Tuesday, I was on my way to register for my National Identity Number. So, I came across the man who happened to be a commissioner at the Waterside Park. I was with a friend.

“So, he called me and said he knew me from somewhere. I said no, he said, maybe I resembled someone he knew. He asked where I was living and I told him. Then I left. He sent a young man after me to get my number. I said no, that my father’s elder brother stays in the park and that he should get my number from him.

“There was another Austin, a friend, who teaches at a government grammar school. They know the guy. So, the guy gave them my number. It was the commissioner who sent them to get my number.

“On December 31, one Mr Lasisi came to my grandparents’ place in the area, and said he knew someone who needed a computer operator and asked if I knew how to operate a computer. I said yes. Then he said I should get dressed and that we would go together to the place.

“When we got there, it was the honourable’s house. A lady, Maryam Odunnuga, came to pick me and took me into a living room. Mr Austin now came out and asked me to come over to a room. The honourable now came inside and Mr Austin went outside immediately.”

The teenager narrated further that the commissioner tried to entice her with money to get a chance to sleep with her but she resisted.

She said, “The honourable locked the door instantly and put the key in his pocket. So, he moved close to me and asked for the name of my school. He also asked for the amount I was paying as school fees, I replied by saying N30,000. He asked me who was paying my school fees, I told him my daddy. He said if I had thought of starting a business before going to school.

“I said I wanted to go to a higher institution. Then he said if I would need some money now, how much would I need? I said, any amount. He said I should state an amount. He now moved closer and pressed (fondled) my breasts. So, I moved his hand away. He now said won’t I cooperate. He now started pressing (fondling) my breasts and my body.

“I was struggling to free myself from him. Then he started reciting some incantations. He wanted to touch my head. I now moved his hand away so that he should not touch my head. He now wanted to force me inside his bathroom.

“But I struggled with him and started shouting. He did not want people around his house to know what was going on. He now left me and gave him four, N500 notes, that is N2,000 as my transport fare. I rejected the money.

“He said if I didn’t collect the money, he would not let me go. So, I collected it. He now asked Austin to drop me in our house. I want Nigerians to help me to take up this matter against him. This had never happened to me in my life. Right now, I am so shocked. I had never been harassed like that in my life.”

Chimamanda Adichie speaks on why she stopped attending Catholic churches, says they are about money, fundraising

Award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has said Catholicism in Nigeria is about money, thanksgiving, and fundraising.

According to her, this is one of the other reasons that made her stop attending Catholic churches in Nigeria.

The 43-year-old novelist made this known during an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

She, however, noted that she still considers herself a Catholic and only attends masses outside Nigeria when she comes across a “progressive” Catholic community that upholds humanity.

“I grew up as a Catholic. Catholicism was very important to me. It‘s almost like a culture, not just a religion. So even if you leave the Catholic Church, it’s in you.

“At the moment, I don’t like to talk about religion because I don’t know. There are so many rules about religion, It teaches you guilt in a way that I don’t think so many protestant denominations do.

“I’m Catholic, nominally but I do not attend it in Nigeria.

“Nigerian Catholicism is way too much about money, fundraising, and thanksgiving. Some in the east even look at who’s wearing gold. I think the focus of religion should be things Nigerian Catholicism doesn’t focus on.

“Culturally, I call myself a Catholic but if being religious means performing and going to confession, then I’m not.

“I go to church outside the country when I find a progressive Catholic Church,” Chimamanda added.

She, however, noted that she respects religion in general but questions some of its excesses.

More than two years after his demise, billionaire Lulu-Briggs finally gets burial date

More than two years after his demise, the late business mogul, philanthropist, and industrialist, High Chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs will be finally laid to rest on March 13, 2021 according to an announcement by the Oruwari Briggs House of Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Until his death, the late Lulu-Briggs was also the Paramount Head of Oruwari House of Abonnema.

But for controversies and litigations that trailed his demise, including legal tussles in Nigerian and Ghanaian Courts over where the deceased truly died and who should take possession of his remains, the oil and gas industry player would have long been buried.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent restrictions by the federal and state governments as regards funerals and large gatherings further elongated the final burial rites.

Oba Akiolu returns to palace months after attack by hoodlums

More than two months after he escaped an attack on his palace at Iga Iduganran on Lagos Island, the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has returned to his palace.

The monarch had vacated the palace when hoodlums who had hijacked the peaceful #EndSARS protest in Lagos invaded it on October 21 last year and bolted with his crown and staff of office.

Some soldiers were said to have ferried him into safety and he had been absent from the palace ever since.

But a video posted on Twitter by the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Oreoluwa Finnih, shows the monarch wearing a mask and dancing towards the palace with his entourage.

Finnih’s tweet reads: “Our daddy is back home… Oba of Lagos, HRM, Alayeluwa Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu’s triumphant entry to Iga Idunganran Palace, today, Friday, January 1, 2021.”

Woman attacks co-wife with hot water

After co-wives, Iklima Musa and Justina Peter, had a serious argument, they were separated by their husband, Ate Peter Manomi, but peace was far from returning to the house.

When Iklima came out of her room few minutes later to gather her clothes from the washing lines, she was allegedly attacked by Justina who poured boiling water on her.

The attack has left Iklima treating severe burns on her upper body and thrown their husband and their neighbourhood into distress.

Dailytrust gathered that the women were always in conflict since Iklima joined the household as Mr Manomi’s second wife three years back.

“I bent down to gather my washed clothes, I didn’t know my co-wife was coming towards me with a bad intention.

“I wasn’t expecting anything like that because we had been separated after fighting some minutes before. As I was straightening up, she poured hot water on me and I started screaming,” Iklima told Daily Trust Saturday.

“Our husband was the first to rush to the scene. Luckily he was not far from the house and heard me screaming. I don’t know what would have happened if he was not close by.”

Manomi rushed Iklima to a hospital and she has been on admission at the Sabon Layi Specialist Hospital, Mangu.

The clashes between the two women forced Iklima to leave the house in August, 2019 and did returned till 2020. Iklima had hoped that Justina would have calmed down after the break.

“To my surprise, the very day I returned, she followed me into my room and abused me. We quarrelled and even fought. That signalled to me that there was more trouble to come,” she said.

Zuwaira Haruna Marwe, Iklima’s mother, was not comfortable with the idea of her daughter returning to Manomi’s house because of the frequent quarrels.

“I was in Lagos when the incident occurred. A day after, her sister called me on to say that all was not well with Iklima and that they were in the hospital due to the injuries she sustained,” she said.

She further said that sometime before, something was put into Iklima’s bathwater that left her with injured skin.

“Something harmful was added to the water and only Allah knows what it was because it was unusual. And that was not too long before the recent incident,” she said.

Iklima said a doctor told her that it was acid that was mixed into her bathwater.

The recent open attack on her daughter has left Zuwaira furious.

“I am her mother, so I am very disturbed by what had happened. Justina has cheated my daughter and ruined her life. All I want is for justice to prevail. I want her to get Justice and ensure that the culprit is brought to book,” she said.

Iklima too is not willing to forgive Justina for the act.

“Whoever could do this to you, if opportune, such person could kill you. Unless she can explain to me beyond any reasonable doubt that she didn’t mean to hurt me, I will not forgive her.

“I am sure this was planned and meant to ruin my life because this is not the first time she would do something evil to me,” she said.

Marwe Abdulganiyu Abubakar is Iklima’s uncle. He said he was shocked when he saw his niece’s condition at the hospital.

“I am so scarred by what has happened to her. The security should do all they could to get the perpetrator arrested and brought to book. If the perpetrator is not dealt with, other people would do the same and go free,” he said.

Despite her injuries, Iklima is convinced that her marriage is not over but some conditions need to be met if she were to return to her husband.

“I believe that my husband loves me and I love him too. If he can separate the house, I still want to stay with him. But I don’t think I can go back to stay in the same house with Justina,” she said.

Over 1000 sign petition to sack FCMB MD Adam Nuru

Over 1,000 people have so far signed a petition to compel the Central Bank of Nigeria and the board of FCMB to sack its managing director, Adam Nuru.

Adam Nuru, reportedly fathered the two children of a married woman, working with him at FCMB.

The woman, Moyo Thomas, nee Ojo, allegedly confessed her extra-marital affairs to her husband Tunde Thomas, after she escaped to the U.S, where she is now seeking asylum.

The shattered husband, who all along believed that the two kids of the marriage belonged to him, died of heart attack two weeks ago.

A group that has sprung up, Justice for Tunde Thomas, is spearheading the campaign to get Nuru dismissed.

It has also given FCMB two weeks to sack Nuru, on ethical grounds, for being mired in marriage and paternity scandals.

Here is the petition posted on change.org:

Justice for Tunde Thomas started this petition to Godwin Emefiele and 3 others

Tunde Thomas died recently like about a week or 2 from Depression. Apparently, kids from his marriage to Moyo Thomas belongs to wife’s boss (Adam Nuru, the current MD of FCMB). Moyo Thomas left Tunde to go to America with the kids, she told him kids were not his when she got to America. He was later down with stroke but recovered.

Apparently, Tunde met someone else he was going to remarry but apparently didn’t recover from the first Marriage issues. Tunde was just made director for the MFB he works for. Got back from work last week and had a cardiac arrest 2 days before introduction to pregnant new girlfriend.

This is a case of gross misconduct based on ethical grounds and an unjustifiable economic oppression by the elites (Adam Nuru) against the less privileged in the society. The MD has been doing everything possible to sweep this case under the carpet. We implore the Central Bank of Nigeria as the apex regulator and the board of FCMB to investigate this for the integrity of the bank and Nigerian banking industry. This is a case too many , while I agree that this is not the full story , the barest minimum will be an investigation to this unethical conduct by the current MD of FCMB Bank Adam Nuru.
